Metra 71-031C speaker wiring harnesses

These harnesses will allow you to plug your new speakers into the factory connectors present in the speaker openings for your vehicle.

Note: Some aftermarket speakers have terminals that are wider than this harness's slide-on connectors. You may need to widen the harness's female slide-on connectors, or use the slide terminals that may be included with the speakers. If you need to connect your new speaker's connectors to the Crutchfield-supplied harness, soldering is best, and crimping is also very popular - see "Accessories."

Includes Crutchfield's 60-Day Total Satisfaction Guarantee

Note: Most vehicles will require additional installation parts — please identify your vehicle if you haven’t done so. You can also call an Advisor for more information.

1998 Jeep Cherokee
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This does exactly what it is suppose to do. The wiring harnesses make speaker installation much easier. Besides not having to strip and place wires, they eliminate the possibility of mixing up the positive and negative connections (which is important). The price listed is completely reasonable and covers shipping. I love that.

Pros: The pros are that: the item even exists in the first place they reduce speaker installation time by a LOT they eliminate the need to splice wires they eliminate the possibility of getting the positive and negative connections reversed the price stated is what you actually pay - without an additional charge for shipping

Cons: Couldn't they have found a slightly smaller box to ship these in? Holy cow!

Crutchfield response on September 23, 2014 Crutchfield is currently exploring ways to make our shipping boxes smaller so that we can better fit shipments of any size, but especially small orders like this. On the plus side, we don't use Styrofoam packing peanuts. Our packing peanuts are 100% biodegradable! Drop one in a bowl of water and watch it dissolve. They're made up primarily of corn starch, and we make them in our warehouse in big batches, as needed. It's a process we invested in years ago to help protect the environment. Don't worry, we'll get the packaging under control soon!

I work in the car alarm & stereo business & put these in many cars & trucks for people who want the best, but at a cheap cost, when it was time to upgrade my own system, I called my distrib. & asked for a discount, their price for ME was higher than Crutchfield & it would have cost me additional money for the faceplates, converstion parts, etc ????? I always delt with Crutchfield on my other cars & went on line - WOW I saved over $100.00 between the radio, speakers, and ALL the parts i needed to install - bottom line, I AM IN LOVE WITH MY SYSTEM !!!!!!! & saved money, I now know why my customers come back & send friends for the same system !!!!!!

Pros: wow

Always Check Polarity

Written by: Chris S. from Elkwood VA on June 21, 2012

1999 Chrysler LHS
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Always check polarity, don't assume that connectors come wired up correctly for your application as they likely fit many different vehicles and configurations. Luckily I had access to a wiring diagram for my 1999 Chrysler LHS with the factory Infinity II system. After observing that the polarity was opposite of how the connector adapter was wired, it was easy enough to switch the terminals in the connector. There is a white/grey plug that pops out. Once removed, you can look inside the body of the connector and see little plastic arms that lock the terminals into the connector. Gently release them with a small screw driver, then the terminals with wires attached slide out the back. Pop them back in opposite of how they came out until you here a click, reinsert the plug, and you are good to go.

Pros: Makes for a clean install without splicing wires.

Cons: Polarity may need to be reversed for your application.

because Crutchfield has you covered. The best part is your installation gear and guides are
free with your order. That itself is about a $20.00 savings. My Chrysler harness made things
so easy with installation. Crutchfield leaves nothing out, they want your installation to be as

2000 Dodge Durango

The connectors did not match the original equipment in my 2000 Durango. The Durango had a premium system with "Infinity" speakers (the speaker housing had Infinity and Chrysler printed on the back). Before buying, you should verify that they will work in your application.

They may work with standard type systems, I do not know. I had to cut off the originals and hard wire.

So easy, anyone can use these. My set had different size solderless connectors making
it impossible to mix up + and -. Mine came with the speakers....sweet!

Couldn't be Easier - And Works with Bass Blockers Too

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Couldn't be easier. One end plugs into stock connector, other end fits standard speaker spades. One large and one small spade so they can't get mixed up. Also makes it super-easy to install bass blockers - everything just plugs right in. Highly recommended!

I used these to mount Eclipse speakers in a 2002 Neon. They worked well - I just had to tie up the extra wire length to the speakers to keep the wire connector from rattling in the door.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Hi there. These could've been great if they were for a 2000 Dodge Durango, but the pins were too wide to fit the factory wiring plug in the doors so I ended up using 1/2 of the these harnesses and soldiered them to the original plugs that I took off the original factory speakers....

These harnesses made it extremely easy to hook up my speakers. All I had to do is plug the harness into my factory harness, and onto the slot on my speakers then I was finished. For a free item they work great. My only problem was that one of the harnesses wasn't working, but Crutchfield sent me out a new one.

These little beauties made the installation of my new speakers a breeze. They plugged in quickly and prevented the need for soldering any connections. The only problem was that of the four harnesses I purchased one was defective. But Crutchfield responded quickly and sent a new harness that same day. Thanks!!!

Check First

Written by: nikwbeach from Maple Valley, Wa on March 31, 2006

These things make it so much easier to install new speakers. Just click and go. If you own a PT Cruiser make sure you check to see what type of factory speaker plug you have. There are two types on the PT, a square plug and a square plug with a large groove on top and two small grooves on the bottom. The latter, which i needed, is part number 12071049.

Features

Crutchfield Speaker Harness: Crutchfield speaker harnesses prevent you from having to cut your vehicle's factory speaker plugs when replacing your factory speakers with aftermarket car speakers. The Crutchfield speaker harness features two female quick-slide connectors on one end to attach directly to your new aftermarket car speakers & a proprietary Molex connector on the other end that connects to your vehicle's factory speaker plug.

Quick-Slide Connectors: The Crutchfield speaker harness is equipped with a large (positive) & small (negative) female quick-slide terminal. These quick-slide terminals fit directly onto most aftermarket car stereo speaker terminals (slight crimping may be required). In rare cases that the quick-slide terminals do not fit your car speaker terminals, you will need to solder the Crutchfield speaker harness to your aftermarket speaker's terminals or replace the quick-slide connectors on the Crutchfield speaker harness with the correct size terminal.

Note: Installation tools, hardware, & accessories are not included & sold separately. Please see the Accessories tab for recommendations & availability.

Quick-Slide Terminal Measurements: The positive female quick-slide terminal measures 0.205" (inner width), while the negative female quick-slide terminal measures 0.115" (inner width).

Wire Code Chart: Two identical Crutchfield speaker harnesses are included.
