Features

Crutchfield Speaker Harness: Crutchfield speaker harnesses prevent you from having to cut your vehicle's factory speaker plugs when replacing your factory speakers with aftermarket car speakers. The Crutchfield speaker harness features two female quick-slide connectors on one end to attach directly to your new aftermarket car speakers & a proprietary Molex connector on the other end that connects to your vehicle's factory speaker plug.

Quick-Slide Connectors: The Crutchfield speaker harness is equipped with a large (positive) & small (negative) female quick-slide terminal. These quick-slide terminals fit directly onto most aftermarket car stereo speaker terminals (slight crimping may be required). In rare cases that the quick-slide terminals do not fit your car speaker terminals, you will need to solder the Crutchfield speaker harness to your aftermarket speaker's terminals or replace the quick-slide connectors on the Crutchfield speaker harness with the correct size terminal.

Note: Installation tools, hardware, & accessories are not included & sold separately. Please see the Accessories tab for recommendations & availability.

Quick-Slide Terminal Measurements: The positive female quick-slide terminal measures 0.205" (inner width), while the negative female quick-slide terminal measures 0.115" (inner width).

Wire Code Chart: Two identical Crutchfield speaker harnesses are included.

loose / failed

Written By Bill, Wake Forest, NC on Thursday, October 09, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very simple install - but 2 of the 4 connectors I used failed to work. Upon trying to snap the plugs in, one of the wires pushed out rendering the plug useless. I tried to reseat but that didn't work. Disappointing as a 5 second job turned into a 10 minute splice fix.

Pros: intended purpose is good

Cons: appear to be cheaply made

bad product

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

i am right in the middle of replacing all 4 speakers in my ford f250 and felt I needed to stop and get on my computer so no one else needs to go thru this anguish . you would think with such a simple adapter , " what could go wrong" . the black wire on 2 of the 3 plugs gets pushed out when you plug them together , and usually there is a small lock tab on the metal pin . but not on these . if you make the mistake of ordering these and cannot return them , or like me don't want to waste the time , make sure you hold the black wire with a pair of long nose pliers and push on them when pushing the plug together .

Pigtail adapters

Written By Gerald, Spring, Texas on Friday, July 25, 2014

First time trying to install my new speakers on my 1999 Ford F150. The pig tail adapter connection failed to do the job intended. Fit was poor and terminal ends were different than what was on the trucks original size. Connection never snapped into place. Attempting to make it work resulted in the wires sliding out of the connection. Then was unable to make the wires lock back into place again inside the connector. Poor design.

Cons: Adapter would not fit into the plug in on my truck. Pushed out the wiring connector from the adapter. No longer able to get the wiring ends to snap back into place inside the connector. This connection is useless. Will have to solder connection now.

Works, but cheap

Written By BA, Michigan on Monday, June 09, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These wiring harnesses of course came with the speaker purchase from Crutchfield, which is nice. They certainly do the job. But while plugging the flat connection onto the new speakers, but positive wire pulled out of the harness. I was able to jam it back in, but now I'm leery of how easy it separates.

Pros: Compatible with factory wiring for clean install

Cons: Questionable quality

great part for the price (free)

Written By herman151, boston on Tuesday, May 27, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Got the wire adapters free with a speaker purchase which was awesome, but honestly I would have bought them any way as I do not like hacking up my oem wiring. Installation was a bit annoying as the plug to connect to the oem wires was not the best. The pins inside the metra adapter wanted to pop out of the back of the plug. So to fix that I wrapped the metra adapter with electrical tape from the connector down to the wires to hold it all together. In the end Im glad that I did not pay money for them, but for the price of free its hard to be to angry.

Pros: Glad I did not have to cut oem wire harness Free! free! free! Who doesn't like free

Cons: Wires want to come out of the connector. Annoying..........yes, end of the world.........no.

They fit perfectly for the system side connection in the 2 back speakers, but they had to be forced into the plugs on the system side for the front speakers. There is probably a different pair of adapters for the front, but I forced them and it worked.

Pros: They worked fine on the rear speakers.

Cons: They did not fit properly on the front speakers.

2004 Expedition

Written By Anonymous, Edmond OK on Monday, March 10, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced all four door speakers in my truck. These were provided by Crutchfield at no charge. Plugging them into the factory connector took a bit of force. Other than that they work great. Also I am not sure about other Ford trucks but on mine these added about six inches to the wiring harness which allowed them to get caught in the power window regulator. Be sure to secure them out of the way before putting the door panel back on.

It doesn't get any easier.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was able to swap out 4 stock speakers in a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer in less than 2 hours. So easy and straight forward instructions.

Pros: Push on clips at the end of the wires are sized to fit the + and - on the speakers so you can't make a mistake of plugging them in incorrectly.

Cons: Wires are a tad long. Could be shortened by about 2". This isn't really a "con". It might be done for installations on other vehicles.

Perfect Fit

Written By Joe, Rolla, MO on Saturday, October 05, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A perfect fit when I upgraded the speakers in a 2000 Ford Ranger. The only downside is the female disconnects are too small for Rockford Fosgate speakers, so I had to trim them off and put on larger ones. I knew that was the case before I started the job, thanks to the product description provided by Crutchfield. A quick fix for very little money. They did snap right into the existing wiring harnesses in the truck making the speaker swap a breeze.

Pros: Perfect fit for the existing wiring harnesses.

Cons: Had to replace the female disconnects with larger ones to fit the Rockford Fosgate speakers I used.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Fortunately Crutchfield included these wire adapters for me to install my new speakers into my 2004 F250. Ford in their infinite wisdom use proprietary (i.e. non-standard) plugs for the speaker wires, requiring the installer to cut the plug off and solder blade connectors to make it standard, to fit new speakers. I didn't have to do this thanks to these wire adapters. It saved a lot of time for my installation. Thanks Crutchfield!

Pros: Ridiculously easy to install

I install this harness to fit an after market door speakers in a 2006 Mazda MX-5 and it fits really well. It make installing very easy, no cutting, no splicing, and no soldering required. Although, product is for Ford, it fits Mazda perfectly. Moreover, you get an extension of around 10 inches to the factory speaker wires, even more easier on installing. Buy it, you won't regret.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Ok, I had 4 of these packs for a 2004 Ford F-250. They did fit ok. However, one of the pins (it is a special Molex connector) backed out of the pin retaining device. Turns out the plastic retaining device is cheaply made and sometimes fails. This SHOULD be tested somehow by a quality control tech at the manufacturer. And I also see that I am not the only reviewer to experience this.

Cons: Cheap products break often.

great idea! this way if I want to sell the car I can put the stock speakers back with no problem. but honestly if they were not included with the purchase of the speakers I would have just cut off the factory plug.

Wiring harness connecters were easy to install and were a perfect match to the car's connectors for the speakers.

Poorly made

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speaker wiring adapters are very cheaply made and didn't fit on my factory speaker wiring harness very well. When I tried to plug the adapter into the factory harness it pushed both pins out through the connector on the adapter on all 4 speakers, and I was being slow and gentle trying to prevent that from happening after the first one popped both pins out. I ended up having to cut the connectors off and hard wire the adapter to the existing wiring harness to get them to work. Was not impressed at all by these adapters.

Cons: cheaply made, pins pop out the back side of the connector when you try to plug them into the factory harness.

Not So Handy

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I first had to install different spade connectors in anticipation of installation because I am installing Rockford Fosgate speakers and the stock connectors supplied on the harness don't fit the speakers. Not a problem. The problem popped up when I removed the first door panel. The harnesses don't fit the connectors on my truck (99 F350 Crew Cab). Called Crutchfield and they are shipping me another style. Hope these fit!

Pros: Free

Cons: Didn't fit

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Came free with my speaker purchase and they hooked up and worked like a charm. No fitment issues with the clips and everything went together snugly. I wouldn't do a speaker install without them.

Pros: Perfect fit. Makes installs a breeze. Came Free with speaker upgrade.

Cons: None.
