Speaker Wiring Harnesses

For select 1998-up Ford vehicles

These harnesses will allow you to plug your new speakers into the factory connectors present in the speaker openings for your vehicle.

Note: Some aftermarket speakers have terminals that are wider than this harness's slide-on connectors. You may need to widen the harness's female slide-on connectors, or use the slide terminals that may be included with the speakers. If you need to connect your new speaker's connectors to the Crutchfield harness, soldering is best, and crimping is also very popular — see "Accessories."

Includes Crutchfield's 60-Day Total Satisfaction Guarantee

Note: Most vehicles will require additional installation parts — please identify your vehicle if you haven’t done so, then check here for a list of parts. You can also call an Advisor for more information.

Features

Crutchfield Speaker Harness: Crutchfield speaker harnesses prevent you from having to cut your vehicle's factory speaker plugs when replacing your factory speakers with aftermarket car speakers. The Crutchfield speaker harness features two female quick-slide connectors on one end to attach directly to your new aftermarket car speakers & a proprietary Molex connector on the other end that connects to your vehicle's factory speaker plug.

Quick-Slide Connectors: The Crutchfield speaker harness is equipped with a large (positive) & small (negative) female quick-slide terminal. These quick-slide terminals fit directly onto most aftermarket car stereo speaker terminals (slight crimping may be required). In rare cases that the quick-slide terminals do not fit your car speaker terminals, you will need to solder the Crutchfield speaker harness to your aftermarket speaker's terminals or replace the quick-slide connectors on the Crutchfield speaker harness with the correct size terminal.

Note: Installation tools, hardware, & accessories are not included & sold separately. Please see the Accessories tab for recommendations & availability.

Quick-Slide Terminal Measurements: The positive female quick-slide terminal measures 0.205" (inner width), while the negative female quick-slide terminal measures 0.115" (inner width).

Wire Code Chart: Two identical Crutchfield speaker harnesses are included.

Good Product

Written By edgar w., Jesup, GA on Friday, April 18, 2014
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These make it a lot easier to install. However, about a day after the install, I noticed one of my speakers was cutting in and out while driving. When I got home, I removed the door panel to inspect. I found that one of the pins in the plug had come loose and was not making a good connection. I was able to fix it rather quickly but I am use to a higher quality of product from Crutchfield.
Pros:
Makes install easier
Cons:
Poorly made product.

A little pricy when bought seperately

Written By DanielB, Atlanta, GA on Sunday, March 23, 2014
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speaker adapters are a very convenient item. The polarity is correct on them, unlike some of the ones you may find on e-bay for less money (you get a free pair of them when you purchase a set of speakers from Crutchfield) It would be wise to double check the polarity anyways.
Pros:
Easy to use Fits perfectly Polarity is correct
Cons:
A little pricy when purchased on their own.

Ford speaker wire adaptor.

Written By Richard, Milton, FL on Wednesday, March 05, 2014

While its great to have an adaptor so no splicing is required. When plugged into the factory socket a slight misalignment from the manufacture plus low quality pins caused them to be pushed out requiring a bit of finesse to get them to work.
Pros:
No splicing.
Cons:
Pins push out

3 out of 4.

Written By Eric, Tracy, Ca on Monday, March 03, 2014
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I got the connectors free for purchasing speakers, which is awesome. The connectors worked great. Made installation a snap. The only complaint I had was that one out of the four connectors wasn't made correctly, so when I plugged it in to my factory harness, one of the wires pushed out of the connector. I didn't want to complain to Crutchfield because it was free anyway, so I superglued the wire back in, and it has been fine for three months now. Other than that, 3 out of the 4 were great.
Pros:
Free with purchase, easy installation.
Cons:
One out of the four I received came apart.

The wiring and plug worked great. I had to modify because my speakers accept wire directly, but that is not a problem. In addition, I was warned that Crutchfield had the positive and negative backward for the F-150s, but I didn't experience any mixed wiring with the plug. It works great and provides a very confident connection.

Great Harnesses

Written By Les V., Broken Arrow, Okla. on Wednesday, June 05, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This speaker harnesses kit is great, I really love the way it hooks up to the factory harness and then to the speaker's them shelf's. Made the install a snap, wife went to store and by the time she came back the speakers were in and she looked at me and said are you done all ready! And I said yes thanks to the speaker harnesses kit, it made all the difference in the world.
Pros:
Every thing about them
Cons:
The speaker terminal them shelf's was a little tight and was hard to slide on, so hold on to the terminal of the speaker and it should slide right on with a little snap.

2001 Ford F150

Written By Mike, Hampton, GA on Wednesday, June 05, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

One of the first set I received was defective (positive wire would not stay in the connector on the factory end). It was quickly replaced. Thanks Crutchfield.
Pros:
Makes it easy to connect to the factory wiring.
Cons:
The spades on the end that connects to the factory harness are much thinner than the factory version. However, they seem to work okay. The spade connector on the positive wire did not firmly engage the spade on the speaker. I don't know if it is a fault with the speakers (Polk DXi570) or the wiring harness. Both sets of connectors had the same problem on both speakers. It can be fixed by closing the contacts with pliers. Just don't crush the connector in the process.

2004 Ford Ranger FX4 (Super Cab)

Written By Rick A., New Berlin, NY on Monday, May 27, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Crutchfield sent these automatically to help install the two new sets of speakers that I purchased from them. They did snap perfectly into my factory speaker plug harness. The wires are fairly small gauge as are the original factory wiring. They have one small and one large slide on speaker connectors. If you are not really super charging your sound system, I would recommend these. If you're going to put a lot of watts to your speakers you should not use the factory harness anyway.
Pros:
Perfect connection to factory speaker plugs.
Cons:
none

Wiring harness

Written By Hatch, Pacific Northwest on Friday, April 12, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The negative pins/lead wire (black wire) fall out of the plastic housing; I surmise a manufacturing defect or cheap labor from a third world party, either way they are sub-par (all 4) I soldered my terminals instead and tossed the "free" junk. I'd rather pay for an item that worked as designed then get the "freebie" that ends up as a non functioning component. Please keep the junk in your warehouse.

I purchased the Infinity speakers with a separate crossover included, for my Ford Ranger ,so I had to cut the ends off of each harness in order to get bare wire to attach to the crossovers, but the door connections were perfect and fit easily via just clicking in place. Just had to make sure black was negative and white was positive and Thanks to Crutchfield it was still easy to do. They are the best at customer service!!
Pros:

R&R special

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are the main reason for buying from Crutchfield. Little things like these free harnesses. Vehicle specific instructions and the ease of dealing with them over the phone. One tip when using these though. The added length could cause the whole harness to fall into the window tracks of some doors. I recommend zip tying them up to the speaker frame, aiding in keeping them up close and out of the way.
Pros:
Fast easy and simple...

2010 Ford F150

Written By Andrew, Great Falls, Montana on Friday, November 09, 2012
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Used on front door speakers. Harness is 99% necessary. Connections for power windows, locks and speakers are made with a harness connector inside the rubber boot. The door does not have solid wires passing through the door jam where the door pivots on hinges. You have to drill through the door jam to run speaker wires from an amplifier to your door speakers. This is why i decided to use the speaker harness. The harness and factory wires appear to be 18AWG or smaller. Using a high powered amp is not recommended with this set up. Drill to run 14 or 12AWG WIRE. Other than that, its a clean installation. No soldering needed
Pros:
Makes installation quick, clean, fast.
Cons:
Wire gauge is on the small side.

Speaker Wires Enough Said

Written By Jake W, Corning, NY on Friday, July 06, 2012
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great adapters to save time from having to splice into wires or run new wires. These snapped right onto my speakers and connected right into the adapter that was in my ford focus. It was easy to remove which I had to do a few times. Not sure what else to say as they do what they say they do. Not too long Not too short.
Pros:
Installation was very easy, easiest part of the whole process. Great Adapters
Cons:
I know most orders you would get these for free but I had to pay for them and the price seemed a tad high for what they are, but again spending a few bucks to save a ton of time is not always a bad thing. Overall I am very glad I bought the adapters and would easily buy them again if needed.
