Good Idea

Written By mgrogan708, Bucks County, PA on Tuesday, August 01, 2006

Great product. When I bought the 4x6s for the jeep, I thought they would pop right in. I was wrong. There is a large gap to fill and these adapters really did it. Screws were a bit odd, but with the amount of hardware I have in my garage, finding something to replace it wasnt hard at all. Thanks!

These brackets worked perfectly. I needed some good speakers to fit into the factory holes for a Jeep Wrangler. With the help of these brackets, I was able to buy great speakers for the sound.

Nobody knows that I have a great pair of speakers hidden in my Jeep... that means that nobody will try to steal them. FANTASTIC!

Let's put this into prospective

Written By Tom, Lafayette, IN. on Monday, September 26, 2005

Cons: I have the same pair, and yes the holes were 1 size too small as well - for the speakers I chose. Drilled them as the others did which was easily done.

Pros: 1.) They are FREE!!! with your speaker order. Local shops want from 12.99-16.99 for the same brackets.
2.) Without them I could not use the 4x6 Polk speakers I bought for my new Wrangler, period.
3.) If you are going to do your own installs, expect to do some mods, ALL shops do. I understand that drilling them was not in game plan, but some of those holes need those bigger screws. This is a universal plate- it just happens to fit your specific vehicle, hence the odd size holes and several sets of them.

I am an old timer in the car stereo world, used to compete in the T.O.W.(thunder on wheels) in the early to mid 80's in Texas. I just thought a "3" rating was too harsh.

They made it easy to install the spaekers but the screws that are provided were a little to big for the adapter plate. I had to drill out the wholes one
size to get the screws in.

With minor modifications, (drilling the speaker mounting holes slightly larger), the brackets fit perfectly. Not a hard modification to do. Very happy with the installation.

The brakets fit great, the speakers not so great. I had to drill the speaker attachment points on the brakets to make the speakers fit. After that the install was a breeze. Slight modification was needed but overall a good product.

I have a 2005 Jeep Wrangler and Infinity Kappa 4629CFP 180W 4 x 6 front speakers. This review is specific to this speaker. I don't know about others. The mounting brackets work great, however if you have this particular speaker you will have to go to the hardware store and get flat washers (#6 or #8) for 2 of the 4 holes for each speaker. The brackets/screws will line up perfectly with either the top or bottom pre-drilled holes (washers not needed) but when you try to use the screws for the holes on the opposite end they do not line up. Only half of the hole is visible and you can't force it without bending the bracket or speaker. You can use other pre-drilled holes on the bracket but you will need washers to attach the bracket to the speaker because the screw head is too small when you use the other holes (specific to Infinity Kappa 4X6). Kind of a pain but when you are waiting for the brackets to arrive in the mail, get some washers (98 cents for a bag of 30) ahead of time so you don't have to make a trip when you are installing your speakers. Overall these brackets are a great solution for my 2005 Jeep Wrangler.
Pros:
Brackets fit perfectly into the speaker housing in the dash using the factory screws and holes. Brackets are firm and strong. For what it does, the price is right.
Cons:
Pre-drilled holes on the bracket do not line up on top and bottom and I had to go buy washers to attach screws for Infinity Kappa 4X6 speakers.

Maybe it's just me but the screws that came with the adapter are too big for the holes that are on the adapter
