Sharp edges

Written By neveradullmo, Livermore, ca on Friday, January 15, 2010

These were exactly what I needed for the front speakers in my 98 Jeep Tj but the edges were very sharp and like previosly stated, the screws were very hard to install. I think I would have been better off making them out of wood.

Thanks Crutchfield, but...

Written By leddedup, San Jose, CA on Monday, July 13, 2009

It's really thoughtful of Crutchfield to through in these adapters for free with the speakers I bought; they really didn't have to do that. That being said, they are TERRIBLY designed. I figured out pretty quickly when I was trying to mount the speakers to the bracket that either the holes were too small, or the screws were just no good. I drilled out the holes a little bit, and it worked for one screw, but the threads on another one of the screws started to fray, and it ended up ruined. Now I need to go to the hardware store and buy some nuts, bolts, and washers so I can finish the project. A quick project turned into an all-day affair that still isn't done because I trusted that these would work as expected.

Jeep Speaker Mounting Brackets

Written By Martin, Lafayette, CO on Tuesday, June 02, 2009

As others have said, the holes in the adapter bracket are too small for the provided sheet metal screws to fit in. Either provide smaller screws or make the holes larger in the bracket. About 9/64" will do. Pretty lame. Was expecting this install to be a breeze, but as it turned out more tools are required than what they say and unfortunately I tried to fit the provided screws into the holes for longer than I should have before finally drilling out the holes larger.

Little work needed

Written By WYMAN, Pawtucket, RI on Wednesday, April 08, 2009

The plates made the speakers fit in the dash hole perfectly, they lined up nice. Installing the speakers on the plates is a little tougher. If the holes were threaded/tapped or if the screws were self-tapping, it would be better. I was afraid to put the screwdriver through the speaker trying to start the included screws.

Holes are too SMALL!

Written By Paul, Phoenix, AZ on Wednesday, April 08, 2009

The brackets to mount to the vehicle are perfect! What isn't perfect are the holes needed to mount the speaker to the bracket! Way to small, need bigger holes or different screws! Nice idea, bad implementation!

Holes to small for the screws provided

Written By Gene, Front dash Speakers on Thursday, February 12, 2009

They made it easy to install the spaekers but the screws that are provided were a little to big for the adapter plate. I had to drill out the wholes one
size to get the screws in.

Speakers fit fine with these brackets

Written By Shane, Pittsfield, MA on Wednesday, September 10, 2008

With minor modifications, (drilling the speaker mounting holes slightly larger), the brackets fit perfectly. Not a hard modification to do. Very happy with the installation.

Fit for a TJ

Written By Christopher, Plano, TX on Monday, September 08, 2008

The brakets fit great, the speakers not so great. I had to drill the speaker attachment points on the brakets to make the speakers fit. After that the install was a breeze. Slight modification was needed but overall a good product.

Perfect for the TJ Jeep

Written By Charlie, Tennessee on Wednesday, August 13, 2008

These brackets worked perfectly. I needed some good speakers to fit into the factory holes for a Jeep Wrangler. With the help of these brackets, I was able to buy great speakers for the sound.

Nobody knows that I have a great pair of speakers hidden in my Jeep... that means that nobody will try to steal them. FANTASTIC!

Good Idea

Written By mgrogan708, Bucks County, PA on Tuesday, August 01, 2006

Great product. When I bought the 4x6s for the jeep, I thought they would pop right in. I was wrong. There is a large gap to fill and these adapters really did it. Screws were a bit odd, but with the amount of hardware I have in my garage, finding something to replace it wasnt hard at all. Thanks!
