The holes line up and the speaker fits, BUT could only use 2 screws per bracket because of space limitations. I was concerned about the bracket staying attached in the long term in a bouncy 2000 Wrangler, and I'm not a customizing kind of guy. So far so good.

Pros: Fits. Lines up correctly.

Cons: Can't affix all screws because of lack of space in Jeep behind the screw holes. Made do with 2 screws per bracket.

Purchased for my '97 TJ. I have Sony Xplod speakers so the holes didn't line up for the speakers. After a quick re-drill, the speakers mounted easily to the bracket and were solid when installed into the vehicle. Great product. Could I have cut these out of sheet metal myself? Sure. Would I? Well, after 8 months of talking about doing it, this was much easier. Especially, at the Crutchfield price.

Pros: More sound coming from speakers. Easy install. Can feel the bass now.

Cons: Holes don't match Sony Xplod speaker mounts.

Jeep Mounting Brackets; Not perfect

Written by: Hank51 from Humble, TX on June 1, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These bracket/plates, provided by Crutchfield, are a necessity for mounting speakers in the dash of a 2004-06 Jeep Wrangler, and you can see that they are quality made. But for mounting the Pioneer TS-A4675R, the holes of the speaker do not match the plate- even using the plastic adaptor provided with Pioneer. The fix I used was to use larger washers on the speaker mounting screws, which then allowed me to tighten it to the mounting plate- and then install in the Jeep dash. The good news is the plate & speaker screwed into the old dashing mounting holes perfectly- the problem is mounting the speaker to the bracket/plate in the first place. Recommendation: Have the company add some slightly larger washers- or re-drill the holes to better mate, and securely mount, the speakers.

Pros: Makes replacing the speakers in a Jeep dash easy- once you finagle the speaker to the bracket/plate.

Cons: Takes some modification to work; must finagle the speaker to the bracket/plate. I used larger washers to solve the problem. Expect to spend some time problem solving the issue, but the bracket/plate is a necessity.

2005 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have a 2005 Jeep Wrangler and Infinity Kappa 4629CFP 180W 4 x 6 front speakers. This review is specific to this speaker. I don't know about others. The mounting brackets work great, however if you have this particular speaker you will have to go to the hardware store and get flat washers (#6 or #8) for 2 of the 4 holes for each speaker. The brackets/screws will line up perfectly with either the top or bottom pre-drilled holes (washers not needed) but when you try to use the screws for the holes on the opposite end they do not line up. Only half of the hole is visible and you can't force it without bending the bracket or speaker. You can use other pre-drilled holes on the bracket but you will need washers to attach the bracket to the speaker because the screw head is too small when you use the other holes (specific to Infinity Kappa 4X6). Kind of a pain but when you are waiting for the brackets to arrive in the mail, get some washers (98 cents for a bag of 30) ahead of time so you don't have to make a trip when you are installing your speakers. Overall these brackets are a great solution for my 2005 Jeep Wrangler.

Pros: Brackets fit perfectly into the speaker housing in the dash using the factory screws and holes. Brackets are firm and strong. For what it does, the price is right.

Cons: Pre-drilled holes on the bracket do not line up on top and bottom and I had to go buy washers to attach screws for Infinity Kappa 4X6 speakers.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It's really thoughtful of Crutchfield to through in these adapters for free with the speakers I bought; they really didn't have to do that. That being said, they are TERRIBLY designed. I figured out pretty quickly when I was trying to mount the speakers to the bracket that either the holes were too small, or the screws were just no good. I drilled out the holes a little bit, and it worked for one screw, but the threads on another one of the screws started to fray, and it ended up ruined. Now I need to go to the hardware store and buy some nuts, bolts, and washers so I can finish the project. A quick project turned into an all-day affair that still isn't done because I trusted that these would work as expected.

Jeep Speaker Mounting Brackets

2004 Jeep Wrangler
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

As others have said, the holes in the adapter bracket are too small for the provided sheet metal screws to fit in. Either provide smaller screws or make the holes larger in the bracket. About 9/64" will do. Pretty lame. Was expecting this install to be a breeze, but as it turned out more tools are required than what they say and unfortunately I tried to fit the provided screws into the holes for longer than I should have before finally drilling out the holes larger.

The plates made the speakers fit in the dash hole perfectly, they lined up nice. Installing the speakers on the plates is a little tougher. If the holes were threaded/tapped or if the screws were self-tapping, it would be better. I was afraid to put the screwdriver through the speaker trying to start the included screws.

Great product. When I bought the 4x6s for the jeep, I thought they would pop right in. I was wrong. There is a large gap to fill and these adapters really did it. Let's put this into prospective

Written by: Tom from Lafayette, IN. on September 26, 2005

Cons: I have the same pair, and yes the holes were 1 size too small as well - for the speakers I chose. Drilled them as the others did which was easily done.

Pros: 1.) They are FREE!!! with your speaker order. Local shops want from 12.99-16.99 for the same brackets.
2.) Without them I could not use the 4x6 Polk speakers I bought for my new Wrangler, period.
3.) If you are going to do your own installs, expect to do some mods, ALL shops do. I understand that drilling them was not in game plan, but some of those holes need those bigger screws. This is a universal plate- it just happens to fit your specific vehicle, hence the odd size holes and several sets of them.

I am an old timer in the car stereo world, used to compete in the T.O.W.(thunder on wheels) in the early to mid 80's in Texas. Having problems installing my speakers on to these brackets. The screws that came with my speakers are needed to attach the speakers to an adaptor ring leaving none to fit the rather small holes on the adapter plates. Regardless, the screws that came with my speakers would've been way too short to use with the plate anyway. The screws provided with the plate are way to big to fit the plate.
