Metra's 82-3000C brackets will allow you to install select 5-1/4" or 6-1/2" speakers in the factory speaker openings of select 1995-09 GM vehicles. Please enter your vehicle information or call an Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 to confirm that these adapters are compatible with your vehicle. Warranty: 60 days.

Important Note: Some 6-1/2" speakers use a larger frame and require a larger cutout. We call these 6-3/4" speakers, and they won't fit in this bracket. This bracket will only work with speakers that require a cutout diameter of 5-1/8" or less.

Super easy to use brackets. As simple as it sounds. Put speaker on bracket, screw in 3 or 4 screws, connect wires, snap into door and done. Fit was perfect. 2005 Tahoe

Pros: Easy from start to finish. Removing them from the plastic bag was the hardest part.

These bracket are exactly designed to allow a replacement speaker (Kicker 6.5" in my case) to be installed in my 2002 Tahoe. Just snap it into the bracket the old speaker was in. They're not essential but make installation in the front doors much easier. And Crutchfield included them for free!

Pros: Perfect, exact fit made installation SO easy

Cons: You have to saw off one tab that must be on there to fit other cars. No big deal. Takes 30 seconds with a hack saw.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This bracket was very helpful to make the speaker installation fast and easy. My installation required the long tabs cut off and I also trimmed the other excess ears. After re-installing the door panel on the first door I knew what to do and had the speaker/bracket assembly ready to go right in and completed the install in half the time on the second speaker. Crutchfield is great to provide both brackets and wiring harness adaptors with their products and makes the installs much more enjoyable.

These work great for my 2000 Silverado 1500. Luckily I have a Dremmel so cutting the unnecessary plastic tabs was easy but I could see how it might be a pain if you don't have something like that to use.

Pros: Good fit, speaker feels solid in the door.

Cons: If you don't have a Dremmel or similar tool to cut the unnecessary plastic tabs it will make installation slightly more difficult

Fitment was fine, although instructions said to remove a tab which wasn't necessary.

Pros: General fitment to speaker & panel

Cons: I was concerned about damaging the speaker while screwing it to the bracket, so I proceeded carefully. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough, and the screwdriver slipped and damaged my nice new speaker. Strongly recommend using some type of fixture (e.g. jar lid) to protect cone while attaching.

Written by: Anonymous from Florida on June 18, 2015

2005 Chevrolet Suburban
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

OK fit on a 2005 Suburban front door installation after an unexpected modification of the bracket. Installation required removal of side plastic tabs on the bracket with a Dremel tool. If I didn't have a proper cutting tool to remove the extra plastic, the installation would have been much more difficult.

Pros: Speaker screwed right to the mount and the mount clipped right to the factory panel AFTER modification.

Cons: Install required cutting off tabs from each bracket to make it fit. This was not expected and it increased installation time and complexity. A custom bracket should fit without modification, right?

Metra 82-3002 Speaker Brackets for a 2003 Chevy Silverado

Written by: DaveR from Farmington, Connecticut on June 5, 2015

2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Metra 82-3002 brackets were very useful in mounting a pair of new Polk Audio db651s speakers in the front doors of my 2003 Chevrolet Silverado. However, the enclosed instructions only referred to 1995-1999 Chevrolet and GMC pick-up trucks, which caused me to telephone Crutchfield to confirm that I had the correct speaker brackets. Also, the diagram of the brackets on the front page of the instruction booklet shows two brackets that are a mirror image of each other (i.e. a bracket designed for the left door and a bracket designed for the right door). Unfortunately, the sealed package from Metra enclosed two brackets that were exactly the same (i.e. either both brackets were designed for the left door, or both brackets were designed for the right door). If the enclosed brackets were designed specifically for a left door and a right door, no alteration would have been required. However, as a result of both brackets being exactly the same, one bracket needed to have a large tab removed in order to properly fit the driver-side door. The easiest way, and safest way to avoid breaking the bracket, was to cut off the tab with a coping saw. The rest of the installation went fine.

Pros: Ease in mounting the Polk Audio db561s speakers in the front doors on my 2003 Chevrolet Silverado. No drilling was required.

Cons: Installation would have been easier if the enclosed brackets from Metra were designed specifically for the driver-side and passenger-side doors.

Replicates the GM mounting method perfectly, but the instructions have ambiguous directions about which tabs to bust off. These brackets, with all of the extra options for various installs, made it easy for these speakers to fit. The "extra" ones that weren't needed easily came off with tin snips. They fit nicely, except I did have to add a little silicone so they wouldn't vibrate against the metal door frame.

Pros: Easy to use...

Cons: Had to add silicone to stop vibration against door frame.

Speaker Mounting Brakets

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had to modify this bracket extensively in order to install the speaker. It felt like there was nearly no bracket left after taking the dremel tool to it, which was required per Crutchfield technical staff. I know that the bracket is made for universal installations but this was beyond average. There should be a better design. Overall the bracket was stable and I am sure I will not have any issues.

6.5 Bracket

Written by: OK from Spring grove il on June 8, 2014

Well these brackets would be nice if they fit my woofer like stated But That's Just Not the case here I used Blaupunkt Blue Magic CX 160 6-1/2" component speaker system and they didn't fit flush on my speakers the diameter was to small so I screwed them on until they seated leaving a 1/4 inch from being flush against the speaker it all work out. They fit in the same bracket holes after cutting off some tabs but be careful instructions are very lame at best. After all I read seems the company doesn't check everything. Otherwise they would fit the speakers...

Pros: fits the oem bracket holes

Cons: doesn't fit 6 1/2 diameter speakers maybe smaller ones

1998 Chevrolet Suburban
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these to mount some Kenwood KFC-1695PS speakers in my 1998 K1500 Suburban, after I discovered the strange way the stock speakers were mounted in there. The stock hole is too large to even just drill holes and screw in a 6.25" speaker, plus I don't like cutting things up where I absolutely don't have too. I ordered these for a reasonable price, and they work really great. I did have to cut some tabs off (two set of tabs--one for older trucks like mine, one for newer), and the fit was a little tight, but it allows my new speaker to fit (really painlessly) the same way the stock speakers did. These work really well, and if you have a Chevrolet truck that you want to replace the original AC Delco speakers in I highly recommend you get these, along with the stock harness adaptor, Metra 71-014C, so that it will go in just as the stock speakers did.

Pros: -Pretty Painless -Allows installation without cutting anything up

Cons: -Plastic is a little weak -Not totally intuitive that extra tabs need to be cut off.

Written by: JB from Florida on December 20, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Immediately upon unboxing everything, I realized that these brackets did not even fit the speakers that they were sent with! 02 Suburban, and Blaupunkt, 6.5", 3-way speakers. That started a whole new ball game. The reason I bought these speakers (or any speakers, for that matter) was because I wanted an easy install without any modifications. I am disappointed with Crutchfield, and I feel duped into buying from them (again), with the promise of no modifications. I could have changed to more advanced, component systems, and bought from my nearest retailer, for the amount of modifications I had to do - 4 hour install, and I got lucky by salvaging some parts, and being creative. The brackets did fit the car. However, they were so wobbly, cheap, floating all over the place, that they made the factory ones look high end.

Pros: None

Cons: Didn't fit the speakers they came with. Wobbly and cheap on the car side. Cut tabs off. Screw holes did not align with speaker screws. Can't modify. Pretty much worthless.

The mounting required a few holes drilled and screws that weren't provided. I only mention this so another purchaser can have a few #8 - 3/4-inch or 1-inch screws on hand. The sheet metal screws that use a nut driver and self tappers are the best. No big deal. Thanks for recommending this product.

Pros: The thickness, OD and ID are properly sized. I was glad to have the mounting brackets.

Cons: On my 2006 GMC 1500 Sierra Crew Cab, the front speakers required 2 new screw locations per speaker and the back speakers required 4 new screw locations per speaker. This was a total of 12 screws needed for the installation.

So glad I was able to find these at Crutchfield! Installation in my 2007 Silverado Classic was a breeze. Simply cut the tabs off that aren't needed and screw the new speakers to the brackets and clip in the door. I installed Pioneer speakers with these brackets.

Pros: Great price, professional looking, sturdy construction quality

Cons: Not really any

Easy Installation

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is almost exactly how the factory one looks which is nice. The screw holes did not match at all with my speakers and had to do complete mod for attachment. Wish it would have been easier.

Pros: Factory fit

Cons: Did not fit my speakers

Mounting Rings and MTX TN653 speakers

Written by: Cottle from Independence, MO on June 6, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speaker mounting rings would have been great except the MTX TN653 speaker mounting holes were outside of the rings so in this install they were completely useless.

Pros: Would replicate the factory mounting rings and the speakers would snap right into place.

Cons: The rings didn't work with the speakers I purchased.
