Speaker Mounting Brackets

Fits select 1995-09 vehicles (for 5-1/4" or 6-1/2" speakers)

Zoom
  • Speaker Mounting Brackets

    Front

These brackets allow you to install select 5-1/4" or 6-1/2" speakers into the speaker openings located in your vehicle.

Important Note: Some 6-1/2" speakers use a larger frame and require a larger cutout. We call these 6-3/4" speakers, and they won't fit in this bracket. This bracket will only work with speakers that require a cutout diameter of 5-1/8" or less.

  • Priced per pair

Includes Crutchfield's 60-Day Total Satisfaction Guarantee

Note: Most vehicles will require additional installation parts — please identify your vehicle if you haven’t done so, then check here for a list of parts. You can also call an Advisor for more information.

Features

Overview: As of 11/6/13, the 82-3002 is compatible with select 1995-2009 GM vehicles. The bracket is designed to allow easy replacement of the factory speakers with select aftermarket 5-1/4 and 6-1/2 speakers. (Please refer to the Crutchfield Vehicle Selector to confirm fit in your vehicle.)

5-1/4 Speakers: While a 5-1/4 speaker will mount easily in this bracket given the bolt pattern, the frame of many 5-1/4s is smaller than the opening in the bracket, possibly making a 6-1/2 a better fit. When using a 5-1/4, a speaker baffle might also be needed to seal the rear of the speaker.

Dimensions:

  • Length: 7.663"
  • Width: 7.848"
  • Inner Diameter: 5.085"
  • Height: 0.25"

Ok

Written By Juice, WV on Saturday, April 19, 2014
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

They fit well but pay attention to what size speakers you purchase. I made the mistake of purchasing 6.5" door speakers for my Silverado and these mounting brakets would not work.
Pros:
Built well enough to do the job.
Cons:
Not very friendly with 6.5" speakers

Attempted to use with Pioneer TS-A1685R

Written By Chris, Austin, TX on Tuesday, April 15, 2014
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The brackets were too small in diameter for the Pioneer speakers I bought to attach to. We ended up throwing these in the trash (luckily they were free) and mounting the speakers directly to the inner door frame on my sons' 98 Chevy truck.
Cons:
Doesn't fit 6 1/2" speakers.

Made installing my new speakers much easier but the holes did not match up. I don't know if it is the speakers fault or the brackets fault but all you have to do is drill new ones.
Pros:
snaps right into the door with little or no issue.

holes did not line up.

Absolutely Worthless

Written By JB, Florida on Friday, December 20, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Immediately upon unboxing everything, I realized that these brackets did not even fit the speakers that they were sent with! 02 Suburban, and Blaupunkt, 6.5", 3-way speakers. That started a whole new ball game. The reason I bought these speakers (or any speakers, for that matter) was because I wanted an easy install without any modifications. I am disappointed with Crutchfield, and I feel duped into buying from them (again), with the promise of no modifications. I could have changed to more advanced, component systems, and bought from my nearest retailer, for the amount of modifications I had to do - 4 hour install, and I got lucky by salvaging some parts, and being creative. The brackets did fit the car. However, they were so wobbly, cheap, floating all over the place, that they made the factory ones look high end.
Pros:
None
Cons:
Didn't fit the speakers they came with. Wobbly and cheap on the car side. Cut tabs off. Screw holes did not align with speaker screws. Can't modify. Pretty much worthless.

The Good and the Bad, but not any Ugly.

Written By AW, Bartlesville, OK on Sunday, December 01, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The mounting required a few holes drilled and screws that weren't provided. I only mention this so another purchaser can have a few #8 - 3/4-inch or 1-inch screws on hand. The sheet metal screws that use a nut driver and self tappers are the best. No big deal. Thanks for recommending this product.
Pros:
The thickness, OD and ID are properly sized. I was glad to have the mounting brackets.
Cons:
On my 2006 GMC 1500 Sierra Crew Cab, the front speakers required 2 new screw locations per speaker and the back speakers required 4 new screw locations per speaker. This was a total of 12 screws needed for the installation.

Great idea, I mount the speaker to the bracket on my work bench did the electrical connection and just snapped the speaker in, Nice. Actually there was one other small step, for my application I used a razor knife to trim a tab that comes on the bracket off. Once again for my particular application this extra tab was not needed and made the rest of install go smoothly.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Crutchfield indicates that these brackets can be used for the rear hatch speakers on the Chevrolet Venture vans. This is not correct; they DO NOT fit the Venture, and most likely will not fit the Montana, Silhouette, Uplander, Relay, or Terrazza vans, either. I was extremely disappointed to discover this. You must use adapters when changing the rear speakers in the Venture hatch, mounting the speaker directly to the sheet metal creates horrible sound.

Used these to install Polk Audio DXi 650s in the frond door of a 2002 Yukon. Speakers screw into these just fine, then these snapped into the door metal. Worked great. On the driver's side, I had to break off a tab that was in the way of snapping in the adapter all the way. No big deal, as that tab was not needed in this installation.

No brainer installation.

Free For A Reason

Written By TS, Boyertown, PA on Thursday, December 27, 2012

Spring clips of adapter fit loosely into 2003 GM Sierra door holes, and thin plastic adapter bent easily under pressure against Polk speaker allowing speaker to move/vibrate. I tried to firm it up by drilling holes in door where the bracket had extra tabs, but not enough tabs were available. If you can buy speakers that have tabs of their own, do it and simply drill your own holes in the door for a solid speaker mount.
Pros:
Super simple and fast install
Cons:
Loose, vibrating fit

LOVE these things!

Written By Shawbonez, Corona, Ca. on Monday, December 17, 2012
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are the most amazing little things to ever be included with a set of speakers! I wish these could be included with ALL speakers. They work the same as the ones on the stock speakers, and just snap in place. No messing around with the doors, these go right where the stock ones go.
Pros:
Great idea, and easy to use.
Cons:
I used the included rubber spacer in between the speaker and the adapter, and had to take the rubber spacer from the old speakers to use between the spacer and the door. I would like to see two sets of rubber spacers included, but maybe that's just me in my overkill for buzz prevention. Still love it, though.

Quality product for a OE replacement. Works as intended.

Cons:
Use caution as the screws provided by some speaker companies are longer then the brace and if your finger is behind it will hit it.

The fit to the Kicker 11DS525 speakers that they came with fit ok. Where the screw mounts dont allow the screw to stay straight thus if the screw goes in at an angle, the screws catch on the door and do not allow the bracket to install properly.
Pros:
Fits well in 2004 Chevy Silverado
Cons:
Speaker screw mounts need a better guide.

The Good and The Bad

Written By Sean, Georgia on Tuesday, September 25, 2012
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had already read that these may or may not work with my 97 Suburban. If I had not used Baffle Mats/Boom Pads, then I believe these would have worked fine...with slight modification. Easy to see which parts need to be clipped/removed when inspecting door and original clips. If you plan on installing Baffles then spend your money on some self tapping screws instead of these clips. If you opt out of the Baffles then I'm sure these will be fine. Just be CAREFUL as the plastic can crack in unwanted areas due to the stress of clipping unneeded pieces.
Pros:
Fit without Baffles
Cons:
A little brittle

They worked well

Written By Kevin, Fords, NJ on Thursday, August 09, 2012
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The brackets perform their function well in matching the openings for the speakers both fore and aft in my minivan but they do require more drilling and modifying than I anticipated. I also needed additional hardware in the form of screws, which for me wasn't too complicating because I have a ton of leftover fasteners from other projects, but I was a bit surprised because with other Crutchfield kits I've used in the past it was all-inclusive of what was needed to complete the install. In my case I also had to cut-away all the external tabs and leave just the solid ring with screw tabs.
Pros:
Worked perfectly, fit well, handle the vibrations of the speaker at any volume or bass setting without vibration.
Cons:
If you don't have screws on-hand you'll need to buy some to mount the speaker to the bracket because the quick-nuts and screws provided are insufficient.

Good fit once you figure out how to get the speakers attached to the adaptors. Install instructions could be a little clearer on which side of the adaptor the speaker is to attach.
Pros:

This was way too easy. This bracket snapped right in place just like the OEM speakers did with the factory bracket (2003 Chevy Silverado - just remember to remove the two additional tabs that I initially forgot that was clearly called out in the included instructions.) I reused the factory foam padding and also installed foam baffles right through these brackets. The installation was easy and looks and works great.

These brackets made it easy to install the front speakers to my 2004 Chevy Suburban. But the brackets for the back speakers did not fit and had to be modified quite a bit to get the speakers to install correctly. The back brackets were worthless overall without cutting and screwing the brackets into the existing brackets.
Pros:

Cons:
The back brackets were overall worthless for the rear speakers of a 2004 Suburban.

Instructions left some shortcomings-kinda light duty! The existing metal brackets in my 2002 Silverado were useless for the new speakers. Somewhat confusing as to where to screw the speakers to the brackets as the screws went into slots. You don't get a full bite on the threads. I also used foam baffles-the brackets fit perfectly. Neither was broken. So far, no problems

Mine came broken. Looks like they were repackaged. The snap-in clips at the top of the bracket were snapped off and there were no other pieces in the bag.
Crutchfield did kindly offer to ship replacements but my door was already disassembled. I drilled my own holes in the doors to secure them. They weren't as high quality or as sturdy as the OEM brackets I removed (which wouldn't fit the replacement speakers), but what do you want for free?

Written By Bob, Cumby, TX on Tuesday, May 10, 2011
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The instructions for this really sucked. The image only remotely resembled the
adapter, and it wasn't at all clear which tabs should be cut off. Also, they
suggested cutting the excess tabs off with a utility knife. That was much
easier said than done. Fearing putting a gash in my hand, I chose to cut the
excess tabs off with a hacksaw, after I figured out which ones to cut. That
done, they fit fine.

I have an 05 silverado and used these with 5.25 replacement speakers and did not have
to drill anything. I just screwed the speakers to the bracket and it clipped right in. If you
use the 6.5 inch speakers you might have to use shorter screws to mount the speaker
to the adapter or drill a hole for the screws to go through. Either way its an easy install. I
used some kicker 5.25 speakers and they do not give off as much bass as my factory
speakers which looked like about a 6 inch to me after I got them out. If I did it over again
I would probably use the 6.5 speakers.

Fit door, not speakers

Written By Jim M, Florida on Sunday, February 06, 2011
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Once I cut off the extra bits (which was easy enough) the rings snapped right
into the door locations in my 1998 C1500 Chevy Pickup. Problem was the ring
diameter was too small to fit the speakers, Sony Xplod XS-GTX1621S. The screw
holes in the speaker extended to the very edge of the plastic mounting ring and
would not have held. Have had to drill holes in metal part of door to mount
speakers, which took a bit of extra care to ensure proper alignment with door
panels.
Just glad they were free with the purchase of the speakers, because I would have
been very upset if I had to have purchased them.
