Metra 82-8140

Metra's 82-8140 brackets will allow you to install select 5-1/4" or 6-1/2" speakers in the factory speaker openings of select 1995-00 Toyota trucks. Please enter your vehicle information or call an Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 to confirm that these adapters are compatible with your vehicle. Warranty: 60 days.

Important Note: Some 6-1/2" speakers use a larger frame and require a larger cutout. We call these 6-3/4" speakers, and they won't fit in this bracket. This bracket will only work with speakers that require a cutout diameter of 5-1/8" or less.

No modifications needed. From panel removal to firing up my stereo, I was less than 30 mins installed. This included fixing a mistake made by the previous owner of the truck which I was able to resolve because the tech I called was a rockstar!

Pros: Perfect fit!

1999 Toyota Tacoma
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

All holes line up properly unlike the brackets I got for behind the seats. These brackets sit a little high once mounted. There is a round raise plastic circle that sits flush against the factory speakers in the 1999 Tacoma. To get the door panel to clip back into place once your new speakers are mounted in these brackets, you'll have to cut/grind the ring down on you Toyota door panels. After that modification, everything will sit flush and no one but you will know your panels have been modified.

Pros: Easy to install and well made.

Cons: Speakers sit a bit high on these brackets when used in a 1999 Tacoma. I can't speak for other year models. They may fit fine in earlier or later Tacomas without having to modify the inside of your door panel covers.

The price was fair, and thanks to Crutchfield for free shipping. It was not a direct match for my Polk Audio DXi 650's; I also had to use the adapter that came with the speaker. (didn't buy them from Crutchfield)

Pros: Great price, fit, and durability.

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these after learning that aftermarket speakers rarely fit in stock brackets. I was suprised that crutchfield included detailed instructions for door panel removal and radio installation! I made sure to remove the foam gasket from stock bracket and used on these.

Pros: Makes installation of speakers seamless and allows for proper allignment of screw holes. Made them sound 2x as good

Cons:

Features

Overview: The 82-8140 is compatible with select 1995-2000 Toyota trucks. The bracket is designed to allow easy replacement of the factory speakers with select aftermarket 6-1/2 and 5-1/4 speakers. (Please refer to the Crutchfield Vehicle Selector to confirm fit in your vehicle.)

6-1/2 Speakers: 6-1/2 speakers with the 3-hole bolt pattern or the symmetrical 4-hole bolt pattern can be mounted using the tabs around the inner speaker opening of this bracket (if the hole spacing matches).

5-1/4 Speakers: The frame diameter of some 5-1/4s is smaller than the bracket's cutout; in these cases a speaker baffle should be used to seal the rear of the speaker.

Dimensions:

  • Cutout Diameter: 5.045"
  • Height: 0.87"-1.33"
  • Three-Hole Spacing (6-1/2): 4.5"-4.95"
  • Four-Hole Spacing (5-1/4):
    • Perimeter: 3.65"-4"
    • Diagonal: 5.2"-5.65"
