Worked first time

Works well after you know the secret

Written By BriF, Maine on Thursday, October 09, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Worked great after a call to customer service. Couldn't get the tool to engage correctly - turns out it was in too far. Called customer service and with a two minute conversation problem solved. I would suggest that the left out direction after the tool is inserted to push the two tools away from each other should be included in the directions, but other than that, does the job well.

Pros: Easy to use once you know the right depth to insert and to move them away from each other

Cons: Just the above

Necessary tool for the job

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

You could make your own version of this tool with an old coat hanger, but, these work well and were included with my install kit. A good way to save time and effort. Thanks Again Crutchfield for providing all that is needed to get the job done right.

Pros: Right tool for the job

Cons: None

Great little product

Written By Dale, SWVA on Saturday, September 13, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great little product very simple to use. Just don't push it in too far.

I found it works best if you push the tool in slowly while moving it side to side, when you feel it springing back you have reached the clips and they should disengage and the radio should pop right out.

Pros: Simple to use

Cons: None

Easy tool, works perfect!

Written By Scarpace (Wow, really?), Austin, Texas on Friday, September 12, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This tool works perfect to remove the factory radio from a Ford Excursion dash. Just stick the two pieces into each side of the radio until you feel them click, then apply pressure on the tools towards the center and pull the the radio out. Easy and fast!

Pros: Perfect fit! Easy! Fast!

Cons: None

I'd imagine these would be easier on a different model vehicle...

Written By Erik R., Somers Point, NJ on Wednesday, September 10, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I went to use these when replacing the radio. I could feel and hear the click when they went in...but they kept just coming out when I pulled on them to remove the radio. It took over 10m to get the radio out, and that was with the assistance of a screwdriver to act as a makeshift pry bar. I'd have only given these things three stars, but the Crutchfield advisor I spoke to as I was trying to get the deck out said that the Focus for which I was removing the deck was in a model range where the radios were a pain...so I bumped it back up to 4 stars...

This product was definitely needed for my radio removal, however I found the tools very flimsy. It took several tries to be able to keep enough pressure on the tools to get the radio to release. Once the radio was loose the rest of the procedure as a easy.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is just a tool to remove the factory radio. That's all it does. Most documents say this is for FORD vehicles, but I assure you that it also works in MAZDA.

Pros: Works in both Ford and Mazda vehicles.

Cons: One time use, and will probably never need to use them again.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am only giving a 4 star rating to these tools because I did have some problems using them to remove my old receiver from my 2002 Mazda Tribute. They did not snap into place as the instructions said they would. I had to use a screwdriver to help pry out the old receiver. It actually took longer to get the old receiver out than to install the new one. I will give the benefit of the doubt and concede that the problem might have been my old receiver. I did read online that some people have had problems getting the old receiver out of this vehicle.

Pros: Seems like tools would be good if they worked.

Cons: Did not snap into place.

Helped Remove my Factory Radio!

Written By 2001f550, Baltimore, MD on Wednesday, April 09, 2014

Replaced the factory A/M-F/M radio in a 2001 Ford F-550 Super Duty with another factory radio with a tape deck (to play an iPod as well as add factory rear speakers), and these were required in order to remove the radio. They fit right in on the first try, and allowed me to easily slide the radio out of the dash, no dash disassembly required! Great product, and cheap to get! (:

Pros: Worked great, Cheap to get, Helps installation.

Cons: What is there really to complain about? They work great!

I could see that the device was engaging the radio tabs, but the old radio did not want to give up. I wiggled and pulled it so much that the dash started to come off. Then I was able to get the radio out and then just snap the dash back in.

Pros:
