4/5 because the contour does not match the factory dash plate. This is a single application piece, there shouldn't be fitment issues.

Pros: Fills the gaps, holds the head unit.

Cons: Doesn't match factory dash contours making the install glaringly obvious.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Too big for the dash, had to squeeze the dash back on and it was very difficult. Dash adapter also is too tight around a 7" screen, it does not allow the screen to pop forward to access the DVD drive. So I have to pull the entire kit back out of my dash, take the dash adapter off, and then file down the plastic to get the full functionality of my new stereo. I am not happy about it as that was a pain the ass to get in.

Pros: Looks nice

Cons: Cheap plastic, too big for dash, too small for new stereos.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Perfect fit. Makes the stereo looks like it belongs in the dash of my 2009 Traverse. Make sure to fit the tabs of the side brackets into the slots of the front bracket. Maybe I missed that part in the instructions, but I scratched my head for a while trying to figure out how to make it fit properly. Once I did though, it was easy-peasy.

Pros: Perfect fit. Makes my stereo install look like I'm a professional.

Cons: Either it was me or the instructions weren't clear on connecting the 3-pieces. No biggie. I figured it out and I'm no Rocket Surgeon.

I like the look because it matches the dash completely but I cannot get it to mount flush with the original dash at the top. I've attempted to adjust it a couple of times without success but I'm not going to replace it. It still looks alright.

Pros: Same color as the dash and the stereo fit perfectly into it.

Cons: Can't get it to match up exactly with the original dash opening.

This bracket Looks like it is too lightweight but I guess it is sufficient to hold the lightweight receivers of today. I don't anticipate any problems. The side mounting slots didn't seem to align quite right but there are enough screws in it to hold securely.

Pros: It seems to work fine, was easy to install.

Cons: probably strong enough but I would have liked it better if it felt and looked stronger.

Ehh... Good enough.

Kit mounts to the radio perfectly, and the trim color matches pretty well, but it is too tight in the horizontal, and too loose on the vertical. Which made trying to get the dash back together difficult.

Pros: Works, mostly.

Cons: Not a normal outstanding product from Crutchfield. The tabs where it aligns with the existing dash were off just a bit.

Fits a Tahoe, but just barely

Written by: Growler from Sewickley, PA on September 28, 2015

2007 Chevrolet Tahoe
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This dash kit allowed me to mount a new Kenwood Xcelon series head unit in my Chevy Tahoe, but left some room for improvement. With all the wires to account for in the back, the stereo barely fit in the dash. The mounting kit should have allowed for a little more adjustment front-to-back, because the head unit is not flush with the dash, and could have come forward about 1/4 to 1/2 inch, which would have left more room behind the stereo for the wires. The ring around the face plate would need to be trimmed to allow the stereo to come forward by that 1/4 to 1/2 an inch also.

Pros: Allowed me to mount my new Kenwood Xcelon series in my 2007 Chevy Tahoe.

Cons: With a few tweaks, this dash kit would help make my stereo look like it was original equipment, or at least look like it was a professionally installed radio.

It'll do if it's all you got

Written by: WildErSiDe from Greeneville, TN on September 14, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It was a little wider that is should have been. Didn't match with the climate control below it. It also sets the head unit deeper than it should be and the radio barely fits because the back barely has any clearance for the wiring harness. I replaced it with a Schosche brand which fit better but was still really tight in the back.

Pros: Works if it's all you have.

Cons: Too wide, sets radio back too deep.

Decent fit

Written by: MarkMark from Georgia on September 13, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The color, finish, and texture very closely match the factory dash trim. The problem is the top edge has more curvature that the dash trim opening which leaves gaps on the upper edge on each end...it's not too objectionable but it seems that this is a universal kit for many GM cars and not a custom fit for a 2007-2013 Silverado.

Pros: Close match to factory finish, color

Cons: Not a true custom fit for my truck.

Was under impressed with the fit of the fascia. The surround for the radio had to be abandoned and even after that the fit around the radio (Alpine) was very tight and I almost had to bend the factory panel to make it "work". Not as impressed with this as I have been with previous dash kits.

Pros: It "fits"...just

Cons: Very tight around the LHS of the radio and cannot use radio surround bezel.

First of all, attaching the dash kit was easy, but replacing the factory dash was a difficult task. The plastic frame around the radio was 1/8 inch too wide or so, causing the kit to be squeezed in and bend a bit. So the fit is close, but not quite perfect.

Pros: Easy to attach and install

Cons: Size wasn't quite right

Directions were hard for me to follow. The fit and color match wasn't the best. I received two brackets that were identical where I believe they should be a mirror. I have to cut on bracket and the not all the holes lined up correctly. I'm sure I could have exchanged it but when you have everything apart in your lap that is the last option.

Pros: It fits

Cons: Wrong bracket, poor directions, black is lighter.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Finished product turned out OK but there was a fair amount of modification needed to get the dash bezel to fit flush. I had to grind several areas of the top of the mount where the bezel clips snap into. Overall a decent fit in the end but lots of trial and error to get there.

Pros: Fit was tight with only small gaps around the head unit but looked factory in the end.

Cons: Plastic mounting brackets which seem cheap but it seems like everything is like that today. Needed to grind or file a couple of areas to get the factory bezel to fit flush to the dash.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this on a Pioneer BT720 in a 2010 GMC Sierra SLE. Instructions are pretty generic, but you are only installing 2 brackets on you head unit. However, on the side of my head unit was a nice variety of 8-10 hole patterns on each side. Trying to eyeball which holes to use is all you can do. The head unit basically free floats inside the huge space in the dash. The AC/heater controls and 12V plugs bolt in under that. I had to change bracket locations 3 times to get the head unit in the sweet spot with no gaps and flush to the top of the dash. However, not the companies fault. Once the final location was determined, perfect fit, no gaps, no sanding, no cutting, and no final fitting.

Pros: Perfect fit in the GMC Sierra.

Cons: Only on my end. I should of pre-fit without all the wiring harnesses connected, would of saved me time. Plus, I have big monkey hands for working in a tight spot.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Had issues with it blocking tilting/detachable faceplate. Tech support didn't have a solution, but I finally figured out that I shouldn't use the obvious screw holes in the side brackets. I only used the two lower screws on each side so I could mount the stereo lower in the kit, getting the clearance I needed. There are so many wires stuffed around the HU that it can't move anyway. The faceplate has only stuck once after I first completed install, so hopefully ok now. I hate having to reset my HU.

Pros: Looks great, very professional appearance.

Cons: Installation was a bit tricky. It wasn't obvious to me to not use the mounting holes that appeared to line up. Just hoping it doesn't shift and lock up the faceplate again.

Better Than Head-Unit Plate

Written by: Benjamin J from Battle Creek, MI on June 15, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This bracket was certainly necessary for installing my Kenwood DNX 890 Navigation system in my 2009 Saturn Outlook. However, it is only 80% perfect, and the last 20% took a long time to deal with. The color match was near perfect. This flush mounting bracket, however, could not be flush mounted. The size of the trim bracket fit the opening in the factory trim perfectly. However, the factory trim panel holding the A/C controls and Vents could not be re-intalled all the way using this part. The clip holders on the bracket are too far forward and so when the clips on the factory trim panel are pushed tightly against this bracket to lock the trim in place, the trim panel sticks out from the 'flush mount bracket' by about 1/16" to 1/8" near the top of the head unit. That is a huge gap. (At the bottom of the head unit the bracket and trim panel were flush mounted.) To improve the fit, I had to modify the factory clips on the inside of the factory trim panel. That solved half of the problem. Unfortunately, I don't have the expertise to fix the rest of the problem. The result is that this bracket, when installed, looks like an imperfect after-market job. There is no space gap between the factory trim and the bracket, but it is not flush either. Also, after modifying the factory trim panel clips, I still couldn't get the sides of the trim panel to fully seat into the other trim work in the console. It still isn't fully seated, but a non-expert would never know.

Pros: Color is perfect match to trim Could not install the new head-unit and replace factory trim with this bracket.

Cons: Doesn't fit properly with factory trim work. There is no mechanism for fine adjustments to placement of stereo. If head unit is installed 1/32" to the right of perfect, you need to literally unbolt the entire stereo and remount to fix the position. This is tedious trial and error work. Clip holders (female side) on bracket are in wrong position to allow factory trim to fully seat properly.

The GM in dash receiver kit is a must for installing a double DIN sized receiver in the factory GM opening. The instructions were concise and easy to understand. It makes your install look factory done.

Pros: Looks great. Instructions easy to understand. Looks factory

Cons: Wisk the kit fit the faceplate of my receiver a little tighter. There is a small gap on both sides of my Pioneer receiver.

Very statisfied with this kit in my 2006 Impala. The color and sheen of the plastic exactly matches the HVAC controls below it, making it look very stock. Attachment to the aftermarket radio and the vehicle was very straightforward.

Cons: Parts are not clearly marked, but illustrations in the directions did portray everything accurately.
