The product worked, however the directions were inadequate.

Pros: The bracket fit the space.

Cons: Step 6. was missing from the disassembly instructions and some of the directions and figures did not match the model of my car.

I don't know if it was the kit or the unit I was installing (Pioneer AVIC-8000NEX) but this didn't fit the unit quite right. I ended up not using the plastic brackets and cutting off the bottom part of the kit and got it looking alright.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This does not fit the SR5, it is for the limited model. Needs to be cut down and modified to work. The SR5 uses a different install kit.

Pros: Crutchfield sent me the correct kit when I contacted them! OUTSTANDING customer service!!

Cons: Does not work with sr5 model.

Crutchfield response on January 14, 2015 We're glad we were finally able to get you the correct kit for your truck. As it turns out, you can't even rely on the trim level of the truck to determine which kit is the right one. It's the specific radio in the truck that is the final determinant, and that can vary in each trim level. This kit, the 95-8210, fits trucks that have factory radios with RDS. (There will be an RDS logo and a separate RDS button, both along the top of the radio.) If your radio doesn't have this RDS callout on the face, then the 95-8202 is the proper kit. Thanks for taking time to submit your review and don't hesitate to contact us if you have any other problems with the situation or need anything else.

Did not need to use supplied brackets, but fits and looks great. Those who are experiencing trouble seem to be trying to use this with a receivers with fold-down face. This kit does not work with those units; only fixed face units.

Does not fit Clarion CX-501

Written by: Tommy from SW Missouri on November 9, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Item does not fit the Clarion CX-501. Side to side it fits but up and down its to short by about 1/8". I was able to make it work by cutting 1/8" off the top. Took me about an hours to modify but now fits radio ok. Didn't even need to use the side brackets. Item fits my 2003 4Runner Limited dash just fine though. I would try a Scorche kit next time.

Pros: cheap

Cons: does not fit all radios

Does not work for SR-5 4runner

Written by: steveb from san antonio on November 2, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The team I worked with at crutchfield had a hard time understanding that the SR-5 and Limited have different dash configuration. They do, I saw it. Really. They keep shipping this kit made for Limited for the SR5 4runners. They did this twice. The SR5 uses the Metra 95-8202 In-dash Receiver Kit but you have to call customer service and tell them. They still ship the wrong one but it is worth a try.

Pros: None did not work for me

Cons: Does not work for the SR5

just ok

Fits and looks decent. Screws from factory unit we not long enough for brackets, had to rig it up. Wish there were more options.

Pros: looks decent when installed properly

Cons: No alternative available

Fits the opening but may not work well with your chosen receiver

Written by: JC from Seattle Area, WA on June 28, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First of all, this unit is the best available dash kit for my installation application using Kenwood's new DNN990HD. That being said, it did not fit as shipped and required MAJOR cutting/dremel work to modify it and allow for the faceplate of the Kenwood to rotate freely. I was not planning on needing to do this and felt less than comfortable making these modifications. Ultimately it came out OK but lees than completely satifsied with the ending asthetic result. To Crutchfield's credit, they sent me two additional kits at no cost when I mis-cut the first ones.

Pros: Fit the dash

Cons: May not fit you chosen receiver so investigate this and be prepared for the possibility that you may need to cut/modfy it.

Does not fit '05 Limited

2005 Toyota 4Runner
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This dash kit does not fit a 2005 4Runner Limited. It was way too big and frankly, I have no idea how it could fit any of the 4Runner trims. Be cautious ordering this, since it will most likely not fit.

Cons: Doesn't fit

does not fit 2006 4runner

Written by: matthew from Idaho on April 23, 2012

2006 Toyota 4Runner
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This kit does not fit a 2006 4runner with JBL or a Pioneer AVR-4400BH. Substantial trimming was necessary to get the head unit to even fit it. Mounting locations do not allow the kit to sit flush with interior moulding. The kit is however more closely matched to the interior than the Metra 95-8202 which was originally shipped with the head unit.

Does not fit 2003 4R Limited with Sony XNV-770BT

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

when installing the sony XNV-770BT in my 2003 4Runner Limited JBL (no factory nav) the opening for the head unit was too small. I had to trim the opening a ton in order to get it to slide in.

Pros: worked great with other head units

Cons: does not fit and required a lot of trimming

Kit did not fit 2004 SR5 4Runner. Would have required a large amount of trimming to work with factory center bezel. I did not install this kit, and instead decided to use another kit, which did fit.

Not for a 2006SE JBL w/o Nav

Written by: mitchell from austin,tx on December 27, 2010

2006 Toyota 4Runner
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is the metra 95-8210 kit and it didn't fit my 2006 SE with a non-nav JBL/six-disk head unit. I was installing the Kenwood DNX6960 and this kit came free from Crutchfield. The kit brackets mount onto the factory brackets and have little alignment bumps that mate with detents on the factory brackets. Basically, you'd have to be trying to mount the kit brackets wrong. With the kit brackets mounted, three of the four factory bracket holes line up - not a big deal. The problem is that the bezel will not line up with the kit bracket attaching tabs. Not by a long shot. To get this kit to work, you'll need a dremel tool and a flat file to remove a lot of plastic from the back and sides of the bezel. Looks like this kit now has two bad reviews. See my good reviews on the PAC TATO and SWI-JACK that were installed along with the Kenwood.

Big communication problem

Written by: Billy from Little Rock AR on September 30, 2010

2004 Toyota 4Runner
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Well this looked nice and somewhat installed correctly except it is not compatible with a 4Runner that has OEM nav. So if you choose that you have a JBL and RDS system (which nav models are) then you will notice that this is offered to you. IT WILL NOT FIT YOUR DASH CUTOUT! You will have to find and use the ones that are little side tabs if you can find them in stock. Also this is not a Crutchfield problem all vendors show this to be correct it is just that the companies that make all these trim kits not just this brand do not include nav models in their research. Hope crutchfield does more research and fixes this so its more clear.

[Editor's Note: Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
