The dash opening this kit is made for is a different shape and size than typical aftermarket car stereo receivers. The mounting bracket covers the "gaps" and secures your new receiver in the dash. It also allows you to install an equalizer into the dash along with the radio in a "rack mount" configuration.
Note: If you are installing a DIN-style receiver, you'll need to convert the 2-shaft face plate to accept your radio by cutting and removing the plastic shaft supports.
The kit includes:
- a slot that lets you install a half-DIN (1" tall) equalizer in the dash, along with your receiver
- a plate that covers the equalizer opening if you choose not to install an EQ
- shaft insert, for use only with an old-fashioned 2-knob receiver
- shaft trim, for use only with an old-fashioned 2-knob receiver
