Does Metra or Crutchfield test fit anything?
2015 Chevrolet Camaro
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Although it looks nice in the picture it is an obvious attempt to make a factory replacement for your cheap radio supplied by Chevy. I put this item in, along with hours of guidance because the installation instructions are non-existent. The fit is poor, a 1/4" gap on top of the unit makes it look like an amateur attempt to make something fit that doesn't. I bet Mr. Crutchfield would not accept this finish in his nice car, why should we? Now the light and display are flashing on and off as I drive I am being told to put a piece of foam behind it to put pressure on a plug....Let that sink in. The unit it cheap and has issues but I should fix it by wedging a piece of foam in the back. I would call that an absolute fail on the part of Metra and Crutchfield for endorsing the poor product line. After numerous attempts I have faced one undeniable point, Crutchfield did not think this out. I refuse to keep pulling this entire unit in and out to prove that the unit is faulty. How many times would you consider acceptable to remove and reinstall before we get it right? I would say once. I am now at the third time I will have to tear this out to troubleshoot a faulty product.. Then I will have to tear it out again when and if they send me a replacement. So far I have heard nothing from anyone as to why this unit cannot be replaced. Even a note to the president seems to be a waste of time. I give Metra a big "ZERO" for this product. I give Crutchfield a "SHAME ON YOU" for this one!
Pros: It is on the website and easy to find
Cons: Improper fit, no accountability for a bad product out of the gate. Obviously this was not test fit at Crutchfield so I do not know what we are paying extra for. Might as well buy stuff from from the local big discount retail store. It is blue and doesn't dim, good luck at night. Did I mention it was blue and only blue. Wiring instructions had to be made by a third grader, yes it was eaten by the dog. They don't exist. You have to get someone to talk you through it to get all the connections correct. Best of luck!Crutchfield response on July 18, 2016 emailed Jeff for his thoughts on the negative comments.
