Features
Dash Kit: This kit is for installing an aftermarket receiver into 98-up Ford Escort/Mercury Tracer models with factory amplifiers. Three circular openings below the receiver slot accommodate the factory Fan Control switch, Temperature Control switch and Vent Control switch. The rear defrost switch is also located on the front of the kit. Attached to the rear of the kit are several wires, some of which plug into factory harnesses and others that need to be spliced into the wiring of the new receiver.
Power Adapter Plug: Attached to the back of the kit is a set of wires and the Power Adapter Plug. This gray 6-pin plug connects to a matching factory harness. Five 6" wires coming out of the plug need to be spliced to the new receiver's wiring harness.
Rear Defrost Wiring: Attached to the back of the kit is a 3-pin wiring plug for reconnecting the factory Rear Defrost wiring harness.
Speaker Wiring Adapter/Amplifier Bypass: Supplied with the kit is an 18' Speaker Wiring adapter that carries the output signal from the new receiver to the factory speaker harness, located in the rear of the vehicle. The bare ends of this harness need to be spliced to the speaker output wires of the new receiver. The other end contains the 8-pin Speaker Adaptor Plug which connects to the factory speaker harness after it has been disconnected from the amplifier output. The factory amplifier is bypassed and the speakers are powered by the new receiver.
