More details on the Metra 99-6514B Dash and Wiring Kit

Product Research

Features

Vehicle Compatibility: The Metra Turbo Kit 2 (99-6514B) is designed specifically for select 2011-2014 Dodge Chargers. The 99-6514B allows you to replace your Chrysler factory stereo with an aftermarket navigation receiver to improve your factory audio system and enhance your driving experience.

Dash Kit with Climate Control: The installation kit fits both double-DIN and single-DIN aftermarket head units. The kit features high-grade ABS plastic and is contoured to match your vehicle's factory dashboard color (matte black) and texture. An included pocket is provided for single-DIN head unit installation. The install kit retains your vehicle's factory AC, heater, and hazard controls with integrated soft-touch buttons.

Amplified or Non-Amplified Systems: The Metra Turbo Kit 2 (99-6514B) can be used in vehicle's with factory amplified and non-amplified audio systems. It can be used to retain the factory amplifier, as well as balance and fade control.

Retains Factory LCD: The 99-6514B Turbo Kit 2 retains the factory 4.3" or 8" LCD screen for custom vehicle settings. The kit also has two RCA composite video inputs that can be used to connect an aftermarket backup camera, and a video source. In the menu, the two video inputs can be designated as "Back-Up" or "Aux". Both inputs are controlled by data--if designated as "Back-Up", it will only work when the vehicle is put in Reverse; if designated as "Aux", the input will only work when the vehicle is in Park.

Navigation Outputs: The Metra Turbo Kit 2 (99-6514B) also provides Mute, Parking Brake, VSS (vehicle speed sense), and Reverse outputs to make installing an aftermarket Navigation head unit simpler and less time consuming.

Retained Accessory Power (R.A.P.): The ignition power source of many Chrysler vehicles keeps the radio on until one of the doors is opened. This feature is called the R.A.P. (retained accessory power). The 99-6514B Turbo Kit 2 is designed to retain this feature.

OEM Steering Wheel Control Compatible (optional): The 99-6514B Turbo Kit 2 features a right-angle 3.5mm connector that lets you keep your vehicle's OEM steering wheel controls via the optional Axxess ASWC-1 steering wheel control interface (sold separately).

Customer Q&A

Q
Can I use this even though I have the factory alpine system?
jack riley  Jan 16, 2023
1 answer
A
This will not retain the factory Alpine system. It is the only radio integration kit we have at this time for 2011-14 Chargers. Replacing the factory radio will also mean bypassing the factory amplifier and likely replacing all of the speakers.

Q
I have a 2013 Dodge Charger R/T with the 8.4" Factory Display which came with the Beats by Dre Premium Sound System. I had some work done at Car Toys including replacing all speakers and bypassing the factory amp. Is there any reason why this kit would not work in my vehicle? (I hate the factory 8.4" Display...and want to have something different)

They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you the details on if this will fit and what you will need for an installation in your vehicle.

Q
In my 2014 Charger, the controls for Sport mode and heated seats/steering wheel are only in the factory radio screen. Will installing this kit and an aftermarket radio make me lose those features?
dannie o  Aug 18, 2020
1 answer
A
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

Q
Can I buy just the wiring kit?
jeremy  Jul 02, 2019

A
The parts of this kit are designed to work with each other, and cannot be purchased separately. One of our advisors can help you determine the gear you will need to get your radio installed!

Q
Will this work with the Police package? I believe it has different climate controls.
mike  Jun 19, 2018
2 answers
A
I'm not sure. I don't know the difference between police package and regular Charger.
raymond  Jun 22, 2018
A
There are no listed exceptions or qualifiers for the "Police package". Metra recommends the integration package for "2011-up Dodge Chargers (with factory 4.3" Screen and no factory amp)"

Q
Will this kit work with the larger 8.4 Inch touch screen?
danny  May 12, 2017
1 answer
A
The Metra 99-6514B Dash and Wiring kit is designed solely for select 2011-up Dodge Chargers that came with a factory 4.3" Screen and no factory amplifier. If you would like to discuss further, feel free to contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

Q
Is this worth doing over upgrading to the 8.4" upgrade?
john  Feb 06, 2015
7 answers
A
I think it is, but it all depends on your needs.
cody  Feb 10, 2015
A
Thanks for your reply. I was either going to go with the 8.4 upgrade and add the Alpine pxah800 for subs, and amp my mids. But if I do the Metra kit, I was looking into the Kenwood dnn991hd, still adding subs and mids+amp. The backup camera is something I have, but I have no installed it yet. Would it still work going the metra route?
john  Feb 08, 2015
A
I think that it is. It can add a lot of flexibility. With gps, bluetooth calling, backup camera, multiple monitors, aftermarket system, and a whole lot more.
tyrone  Feb 07, 2015
A
Me and my customer like the way it looks and i believe its better then the 8.4 upgrade
donovan  Feb 07, 2015
A
Yes when you add this with a navagation radio. I know have a backup camera, 10 point equalizer better music, subs pound harder and have the ability to add up to 4 more video connection and have the steering wheel adapter all for just under 800 dollars. So to add up 4.3 +6.1= 10.4 screen size bigger and more is better.
darren  Feb 06, 2015
A
The 8.4" is limited compared to a pioneer or keneood head unit. I can have Bluetooth resources streaming (like gps) at the same time while listening to XM with my now installed pioneer. The 8.4" is cool but just very basic. I like the option of picking my head unit. I like having my car guest watch movies while the vehicle is in motion too :)
jamal  Feb 06, 2015
A
It just depends on what you want to do ultimately. If you don't plan to add subs, probably not. If you want the best sound possible and/ or you plan to add subs, I'd say yes. Cause with the 8.4, you can't put in an aftermarket stereo. If you were just gonna put in something a little nicer than the factory soundwise, its probably not worth it. If you were going to get something really nice, its probably worth it. You can get a line level converter to add subs, but you usually lose sound quality. That said, the backup camera with the 8.4 inch screen is phenomenol and they do put in a better quality stereo than the factory stereo that comes with the base model. All of that said, if you buy the base model and put in an aftermarket deck. Its totally not worth putting in a cheap deck. Go double din and get something nice.
dirk  Feb 06, 2015
Q
dont see how it retains factory soft touch screen does the aftermarket hesd unit go below it where the cubby hole is between the screen and the heater controls?
ben  Dec 24, 2014

A
Yes it does. It looks great after install, I couldn't be happier. Just remember that one bad thing is that you will lose the 12 volt plug in.
timothy  Jan 01, 2015
A
Where your climate controls are now will be replaced with the radio kit and radio and the climate controls will be where the bottom gung hole and cig lighter was.... YouTube the kit you will see it
darren  Dec 26, 2014
A
Yes the cubby goes bye bye. Stereo goes where controls are. Controls shrink and move lower. You can also use the touch screen to watch movies if you buy a DVD receiver
