A must get, easy to install looks like Honda factory dash!
Pros: Great Product
I got this to work OK, but I had to use a hack saw to remove part of the plastic flanges. The plastic support beams that extend from the screws to the front of the face plate interfere with the climate control unit. I used a saw to trim a notch into the flange to make room for the climate control unit. Once that was done, it fit fine and holds the aftermarket radio just fine.
Cons: Support flanges at the bottom interfere with climate control No screws at top of plate where factory radio has a pair of screws.
I agree with several of the previous reviewers, the kit is not up to Crutchfield standards. It feels and looks cheap but does secure the Kenwood DNX6190HD firmly even with only two mounting points. Curiously, although I had the same problem as a couple other reviewers with the inability of the AC controls to stay mounted after installing this kit, Crutchfield Tech Support said they'd never heard of the problem. My resolution was to cut a notch about 1/8" deep by 3/4" long in the vertical portion of the plastic "L" brace on each side, just behind the faceplate which provided enough relief for the AC controls to fit properly. If there are better kits out there, I'd look into them before using this kit again. I would not recommend this kit unless there's nothing better available.
Pros: Inexpensive and it fits ok with some modifications.
Cons: Cheaply made, poor fit without modifications.
It looks cheap, but had a good fit to my Honda CR-V. The factory bracket had 4 screws to fit both top and bottom of the unit. But this one has 2 screws to the bottom only and I afraid it can't hold a 2 pound receiver with just 2 screws for long time. Also the package was missing single din snaps.
Cons: Cheap plastic, poor construction.
Perfect fit! I have the 07 crv LX
This dash kit fits just fine. Not sure why others have said it doesn't fit. I have a 2011 CRV LX. Maybe there are some slight differences between 2007-2011 models which cause others problems.
I agree that it seems a bit flimsy, but once it is installed, it looks and feels fine. I did secure the bottom pocket with some duct tape from behind to make it a bit more sturdy.
It seems to be built in such a way that the stereo is tilted in at the top, and not flush, but the factory radio is similar.
Pros: Cheap. Fits. Easy install.
Cons: Feels cheap, but you get what you pay for!
Extremely flimsy dash kit. Do NOT buy this kit. Very cheaply made. Instead, I opted to go with a Scosche kit. Google it, and you'll see that there's actual mounting tabs at the top, that keeps your new radio more sturdy. I can't believe that Crutchfield actually sells a cheap dash kit like this one.
Cons: See above.
The kit was easy to install other than cutting the plastic bar for a DD installation. That is probably better if you have the proper tools, but it's pretty hard plastic and wasn't that easy to cut. It's a minor complaint, the end result looks great in our 2007 CRV
Pros: Easy, looks good.
Cons: Minor difficulty cutting out the bar for a double-DIN installation.
great instructions, good pictures to help the installation. materials, as discussed in earlier reviews, were not up to OEM standards. i have a double din receiver, and the kit had a bracket to hold the receiver, but it only had two connector points (at the bottom of the unit) to connect the unit to the dash. the OEM unit has four, two on top and two below (and there were metal). with that said, it does seem to hold the receiver securely in place.
Pros: great instructions, easy to follow
Cons: not quite OEM grade materials only had two braces/brackets (not four) for connection to the OEM screw holes
This one has some issues. JVC Arsenal KD-AHD79 reciever (reviewed also) was too tight a fit with the kit's reciever harness and face plate, that would have required modifications. I instead used the harness that came with the reiver, it fit, for a tight fit I pried up 2nd row of reciever harness(this is visible on the bottom side of the reiever using reciever faceplate). Outside of kit went in flush with the rest of the dash panel. Bottom tray of kit has 4 open spaces (located in the four corners) that worked nicely for running Sound OrdnanceT B-8PT's (also reviewed) wired remote cord, the remote fits inside the tray (I put mine up to the corner closest the driver). Also handy in holding my IPOD when connected to the reciever.
Received this kit with my radio purchase and was very disappointed. The kit does not fit correctly. When mounted the kit does not allow the temperature control dials to snap in from the bottom. Nothing that I tried was able to make the controls snap into place. It will not stay in place and will easily pop out with one finger. The mounting kit also does not have the ability to be secured to the top mounting screws from the original factory radio and the kit does not support the radio sufficiently. I had to stop my install and pick up another mounting kit from a local installation shop.
This trim kit is plain awful, cheap looking, gaps at the bottom, really downgraded the look of this new vehicle. Crutchfield reputation suffering due to this piece of junk, and I wil lthink twice before purchasing again.
The CRV is an unusual fit. This installation kit works, but I had to do alot of fooling
around to get everything just right. It was more difficult than Crutchfield kits I have
used in the past.
I used some double-sided tape pads, and a bit of dense foam rubber to help
stabalize the amp (so it doesn't sag toward the rear). Also had to trim the outer
trim piece so it would fit.
Having said this, the installation looks very good. It just took some work to get it
This is a poor quality mounting bracket. It does not fit the CR-V dash nearly as well as the OEM unit did. The first installation kit that Crutchfield sent was warped so badly that one side stuck out of the dash nearly 1/8 of an inch. Crutchfield sent a replacement, that fits slightly better, but it still isn't good. The mounting bracket and trim are just cheap, flimsy and poorly made. Based on multiple past experiences, I expected much more from Crutchfield. Their products in the past have been top notch. This product is not even satisfactory. I may try adapting the original Honda mounting bracket as one other reviewer mentioned doing.
This was for an '07 Honda CRV. The plastic really reduces the look of your dash; I
decided to keep going with the install anyways. I tried several combinations...with the
radio sleeve, without it, even mismatching parts between this kit and the factory parts.
Every combination left the radio loosly seated and a little too sunk in. For example,
pressing buttons on the radio would actually move the radio slightly. Maybe I was
missing a step, but I gave up trying to fiddle with it when I discovered the radio would fit in
the factory frame if I removed the factory radio. This way the frame bolts to the radio and
bolts to the dash! Solid and does not budge at all when pressing buttons. Now, the
aftermarket radio is slighly smaller than the factory radio, so the fit was not perfect. I used
the trim piece that came with the aftermarket radio to fill in the space. This worked fine
and only left a very slight gap that you would only notice if you put a light source behind
the radio. I left the factory AUX input/tray although it is currently not hooked up to
anything...I may end up hooking it up to the back of my aftermarket radio so everything is
This thing is absolutely horrendous! It does not fit my 08 CR-V at all! I
don't know who designed it but they certainly weren't looking at a 3rd
generation CR-V when they did! This thing comes with a couple of support
beams on the bottom that attach with screws. The problem is that once
you install this adapter the temperature control assembly WILL NOT fit back
in your dashboard due to the fact that the tapered beams prevent it from
fitting! I had to do all kinds of tricks to make the assembly fit and finally
had to force it in. The end result: the assembly is pushed too tightly that
the control buttons stick--espeaciall the A/C one! I have to use a flathead
screwdriver to release the button every time I push the A/C button! In
addition, the construction of this adapter is extremely flimsy and doesn't
seem to provide enough support for a single DIN unit--let alone a double
DIN one. I'm very disappointed in Crutchfield for sending me this piece of
junk along with my (pricey) head unit. I think more (serious) research
should have been done before recommending this thing for CR-V users.
Fits perfect, match the CRV very well.
