Here's a way to get music into a vehicle that does not easily accommodate an in-dash receiver. Mount a DIN chassis (2" tall) receiver into this handy kit, and then attach the kit to the underside of your dash.

You can also use this kit to add a DIN-sized equalizer to a vehicle that only has room for the receiver in the dash.

In most cases, using this kit requires modification to your car and/or the kit itself.

Remember, most vehicles will accommodate a receiver in the dash, not beneath it. Not sure about yours? Try our vehicle selector.

A
No, this is designed for a single din radio

Q
Will this fit a half din equalizer?
tasha  Apr 09, 2020
1 answer
A
It could hold one in place that could use screws to be held in place by drilling screw holes on the sides and getting screws long enough to reach the EQ. The only issue is this is designed to hold din radios that are twice as tall as half-din EQ's so there will be blank slots on the front from the extra height this provides

Q
Can this be turned upside down and used to mount a unit in a glove compartment?

A
Yes. You can turn it upside down. You can trim the back even. I saw someone mentioning gluing it. I would not recommend that however. I have used several of these and will continue to. David

If it will fit in your glove compartment sure it will work, I mounted mine upside down on top of the custom center console I made, a Single Din head unit will fit fine either directions.

Q
Can it be flipped over and installed on top of the dash or is the angle of the receiver at a funny angle?
scott  Dec 26, 2016
3 answers
A
It depends on what you mean by a "funny angle". It's nearly horizontal; I think a surface mount would work fine. Your dashboard surface would need to be very flat, though, and most dashboards are not.
dave  Dec 27, 2016
A
It should work but it's in my boat so I can't check. I'd say 80% yes.
john  Dec 27, 2016
A
Yes, it can. That is how I mounted it and it was fine.

Q
how is the stereo mounted to the under dash kit ?
jude  Oct 17, 2016

A
Single DIN, the radio has a metal sleve liner that attaches to the kit. Just as it would in the vehicle Single DIN opening. Radio slides into sleve. Perfect.
tony  Oct 18, 2016
A
The same way as installing in the dash. Use the mounting hardware and exterior trim supplied with your stereo. Installing the enclosure may require some creativity unless there is a flat surface to fasten to.
greg  Oct 18, 2016
A
The radio adaptor snapped into the opening in the underdash kit. This was used in a piece of construction equipment and has held up very well.

it worked great for me put it in my 1971 fj40. Didn't want it under my dash , not much room. mounted in my glove box, I just turned it over and Velcro it down and use a stereo with a remote.
arthur  Oct 18, 2016
A
You have to buy an additional , adapter kit for the type of radio you are installing. For example , I put a Piooner unit in my under dash mount,

tony  Oct 18, 2016

This mount will not work in dash but you can mount them under the dash or under a seat. We have used these on many different types of vehicles.
jesse  Jul 04, 2016

If you have a flat area under the dash you can use this-if you can catch the front screws and 1 or 2 down the side, you can make a bracket off the rear to help stabilize it-I have used several, work great
james  Jul 03, 2016
A
I bought the bracket to mount a cd/am/fm under the front dash of a golf cart. Bracket is to flimsy and doesn't seal if the mounting surface is not flat. Also, my intention was to use marine cover on the front, it didn't work with bracket. Don't know about automobile mounting.
