Replace the radio and keep factory functions

Your vehicle came with all kinds of controls and displays on the steering wheel and dash that you really don't want to lose when you replace the stock radio with a cool new Sony multimedia receiver. This Axxess AX-IL-SY01 InfoLink interface module connects your select Sony receiver to your vehicle with the help of a vehicle-specific harness, so you'll still have all the manual controls, informational displays, and wireless features that came with your vehicle, plus a few more handy features you'll enjoy and maybe learn to depend on.

Steering wheel controls

The Axxess InfoLink system lets you retain steering wheel audio controls, so you can change channels, sources, and volume with the touch of a thumb.

Engine performance info

Once connected, the Axxess InfoLink system automatically recognizes exactly what you're driving and will show you a vehicle-specific menu on your Sony touchscreen that displays engine diagnostic information and more. For instance, it'll display the details of a “Check engine” warning and, when possible, let you clear the code and drive on.

Touchscreen climate controls

Did your car have climate controls on the factory radio touchscreen? The Axxess InfoLink puts them right back onto your Sony's touchscreen.

Tire pressure

In select vehicles that provide tire pressure information, you'll have a dedicated screen to monitor when any of your tires need air, saving you from unnecessary wear and worry.

Separate vehicle-specific harness required

You will need to get a separate vehicle-specific harness along with your Axxess InfoLink system. This harness will connect your Sony receiver as seamlessly into your vehicle's data system as the original radio and display — no programming or "flashing" will be necessary. All vehicle warning lights and chimes will operate normally. If your car has a factory amplifier, for example, it will still power your speakers. Bluetooth® and other voice-activated and safety features like Onstar and SYNC will also still work.

InfoLink Interface Module: The Axxess InfoLink AX-IL-SY01 allows installation of select Sony in-dash receivers in a variety of vehicles. The InfoLink AX-IL-SY01 interface supports 100's of vehicles including Audi, Chrysler, Ford, Fiat, GM, Mercedes, Mazda, Toyota, and Volkswagen.

Sony Radio Harness: The Axxess InfoLink AX-IL-SY01 interface module comes with a pre-wired radio harness for select Sony in-dash DVD & digital media receivers (like the XAV-630BTand XAV-650BT).
Auto-Detect: The Axxess InfoLink AX-IL-SY01 interface module auto detects the vehicle it is in and automatically configures itself to work seamlessly with that vehicle. There is no need to connect this module to your computer and flash; it simply auto-detects your compatible vehicle once installed.

Note: You will need an InfoLink vehicle specific installation harness (sold separately) which connects between the interface module and your vehicle's factory radio plug.

Amplified & Non-Amplified Systems: The InfoLink AX-IL-SY01 can be used in non-amplified & amplified vehicles, including vehicles with digital amplifiers. Balance & Fade are retained for both factory analog & digital amplifiers. The interface module also provides adjustable gain control for factory amplified systems.

Navigation Outputs: The InfoLink AX-IL-SY01 provides navigation outputs - Parking Brake, Reverse, Speed Sense & Mute - making installation of your Sony aftermarket head unit much simpler and less time consuming.

Steering Wheel Control: The InfoLink AX-IL-SY01 also lets you retain your vehicle's factory steering wheel controls when replacing the factory radio with a compatible Sony in-dash receiver.

Retained Accessory Power (R.A.P.): The ignition power source of many new vehicles keeps the radio on until one of the doors is opened. This feature is called the R.A.P. (retained accessory power) and is lost when replacing the factory radio with an aftermarket head unit. The InfoLink AX-IL-SY01 will let you retain this feature when installing a compatible Sony aftermarket head unit.

12V Accessory Output: In many newer vehicles, there is no 12-volt accessory wire in the factory harness, which requires the installer to run an accessory wire to the fuse box or underneath the steering column when installing an aftermarket radio. The InfoLink is designed to provide a 12V/10A switched accessory output (red wire), saving you a lot of time & effort.

On-Screen Control: The InfoLink AX-IL-SY01 will take factory functions provided by select vehicles and produce them onto your Sony's LCD touchscreen for display & control. Some examples are HVAC controls, personalization menus, TPI (tire pressure information), and OBDII error codes.

HVAC: The InfoLink system links to the HVAC system in certain vehicles, so your Sony head unit's touchscreen can control heating and cooling.
Fuel Economy: InfoLink also allows access and control from your Sony receiver's touchscreen for fuel economy and other features.
Check Engine: You can check and clear engine codes (DTC's) through your compatible Sony receiver via InfoLink.

Vehicle Specific Features

GM: When used with the appropriate GM installation harness, the InfoLink AX-IL-SY01 retains OnStar & factory Bluetooth, as well as RSE (Rear Seat Entertainment) with optional harness (sold separately). You also get adjustable gain control warning chimes & OnStar.

OnStar & Bluetooth: InfoLink helps to retain the factory OnStar emergency services system that would normally be lost when your GM factory radio is replaced by an aftermarket head unit. The InfoLink system also retains your GM vehicle's factory Bluetooth functionality.
Warning Chimes & Turn-Signals: The InfoLink system also retains your GM vehicle's factory warning chimes and turn-signals when replacing the factory radio with a compatible Sony head unit. You can adjust the volume level of the warning chimes.
Optional RSE Harness: The Metra GMRSAV (120GMRSAV, sold separately) is an RSE retention harness designed to retain the rear seat entertainment system in select GM vehicles that also support the InfoLink radio replacement interface. The GMRSAV provides an audio/video input to the factory overhead video screen from your new aftermarket radio, and provides the audio/video output from the rear seat control panel to the aftermarket head unit.

Chrysler: When used with the appropriate Chrysler installation harness, the InfoLink AX-IL-SY01 retains Blind Spot Detection system, as well as RSE (Rear Seat Entertainment) & backup camera with optional harness (sold separately).

Blind Spot Detection: The InfoLink system will retain your Chrysler vehicle's factory blind spot detection system, which is normally lost when replacing the factory radio with an aftermarket head unit.
Optional RSE Harness: The Metra CHRYSAV (120CHRYSAV, sold separately) is an RSE retention harness designed to retain the rear seat entertainment system in select Chrysler vehicles. The CHRYSAV provides an audio/video input to the factory overhead video screen from your new aftermarket radio, and provides the audio/video output from the rear seat control panel to the aftermarket head unit.
Optional Backup Camera: The optional CHRYSAV harness also lets you retain your Chrysler vehicle's factory backup camera.

Ford Sync: When used with the appropriate Ford installation harness, the InfoLink AX-IL-SY01 retains your vehicle's factory Ford SYNC with adjustable gain control. Ford Sync retained features include USB connectivity, Auxiliary input, Bluetooth Phone, and Bluetooth Music.
