Pretty easy to wire, instructions are clear, and does what it is supposed to do. Only thing I would ask for is a smaller footprint on the chimes box and also maybe shorter wires. They are unnecessarily long and make it hard to stuff everything in the already small BMW cubby.

After hooking everything up, it took sever resets to get it to control my Pioneer radio. I think the main problem was, that the radio was turned on. It seems to automatically program only when the radio was turned off.

2010 BMW 1 Series
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This let me retain my warning chimes in my bimmer and they actually sound better as they come from a new small speaker, not through the stereo speakers as before. I wired it up to my radio on my desk with the steering wheel control adapter and then wired into the vehicle. It was super easy and it all works great.

Features

Overview: The AXXESS BMRC-01 interface is designed to allow you to replace the OEM radio with an aftermarket head unit in non-amplified BMW/Mini vehicles or BMW/Mini vehicles that have the OEM amplifier bypassed. The BMRC-01 will retain all warning chimes (via built-in speaker) which are lost when the OEM radio is removed. It also provides a 10A/12V switched accessory wire for proper radio operation, and the R.A.P. (Retained Accessory Power) feature will be retained. In addition, the BMRC-01 provides navigation outputs (VSS, Parking Brake, and Reverse) to help ease the installation process.

Compatibility: The Axxess BMRC-01 is compatible with the following 2006-up BMW & Mini vehicles (as of 4/24/2015).

Make Model Year
BMW 1-Series 2008-up
3-Series 2006-up
Mini Cooper 2007-up
Clubman 2008-up
Note: Please consult Crutchfield's Outfit My Car to see if your vehicle is compatible and what additional accessories will be needed.

For additional details on fit or installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you the details on what you will need for an installation in your vehicle. [ Kenny  Apr 11, 2016 ]  Staff
Check your connections. The only turning off with the power button makes me think maybe the yellow (battery/constant) and red (ignition power) might be switched. Make sure there is also no loose wires. I also had a problem with mine with the blue wires from the manual were wrong. Once I called crutchfield the tech explained and I got it connected to the right wire. [ Francis  Dec 30, 2014 ]
Sounds like it may not be connected right or you have a bad unit. Double check the power and verify that you have a switched input and not a constant 12v. It is weird the unit is not making any chimes. Again with the connections and verify it works before pushing everything inside if you can. [ CHAD D  Dec 30, 2014 ]
The yellow wire that goes directly to the battery is only hooked to the yellow on the deck correct and not the red wire also? Is this a factory hifi 10 speaker or the std 6 speaker system? [ vintage class  Dec 30, 2014 ]

This harness does not make the connections to retail steering wheel controls. The ability to retain steering wheel controls with aftermarket receivers will be determined by the receiver you are using and the vehicle you have. For full information on this type of integration (including the parts you will need) please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Jeff  May 07, 2014 ]  Staff
