About the Metra GMRSAV Rear Seat Video Adapter

Bob Bihlmayer

Metra GMRSAV

If you plan to install a new radio in your 2007-up GM vehicle and you want to retain the factory Rear Seat Entertainment system (RSE), Metra's GMRSAV adapter can help. This cable sends audio and video from your aftermarket radio to the overhead screen in your entertainment system. If you connect a secondary A/V source to the inputs on the rear seat control panel, it will route that signal to your new radio too. Warranty: 1 year.

What's in the box:

Q
I own a 2010 Cadillac Escalade platinum with double monitors on the ceiling. I used this adapter with a tesla style head unit but only the monitor in second row works. The one on third row has power but no signal. Do I need another adapter?

A
It is extremely difficult for us to troubleshoot any radio's purchased elsewhere Giovanni, but I will try my best to help. This adapter is the only model we have available to be used and we do have some special notes on the second monitor, which I have linked below to help. "The GMRSAV will retain the first monitor but not the second (rear seat). The second monitor runs off of 2 wires in the factory X2 plug that need to be cut and spliced to another RCA plug. Pin Number 4 = Light Green = Video + = Center Pin RCA Pin Number 12 = White = Video - = Outer Shield RCA You will then need to get a female to male Y adapter (depending on the radio) plug that into the radio then the GMRSAV harness and the wires that were tied into the home-made RCA connection to the Y adapter then both monitors will work." I've linked the Hosa RCA y-cable in the link below for reference. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_979YRA104/Hosa-RCA-Y-Adapter.html

Q
If I do an aftermarket flip down and radio- both with rcas. could I buy 2 of these and put them on either end of the cable to get the same effect as running rcas?

A
This adapter allows you to connect the Composite outputs of a compatible aftermarket radio to the OEM connection in your vehicle. If you are replacing the OEM monitor as well, you will need to run Composite RCA cables, this adapter would do you no good.

Q
I installed a after market radio in my 2007 escalade esv but no video to the rear two flip down tvs is this what you would recommend to get them working with the head unit? I do have a grey plug left out that looks exactly like what's pictured I'm guessin that would be audio video to the rear

Q
Do i need this to install headrest dvd players to my factory head unit? I dont know if the rca cables are already there if i do not have a rse system. Thank you.

A
If the headrest DVD players are factory installed, then you need them as GM does not use a standard RCA connections. If the headrest players are aftermarket, then no as most aftermarket units use RCA connections.
