About the Metra AX-HYKIA-USB Adapter for Hyundai

Bob Bihlmayer

Metra AX-HYKIA-USB

Metra's AX-HYKIA-USB cable allows you to keep the USB port in your Hyundai when you install a new car stereo. One end of the cable connects to the plug just behind the USB port on your vehicle's console, while the other end plugs into the USB port on the back of your new car stereo. You must install a car stereo with a rear USB port. The package also includes RCA cables to retain your car's 3.5mm jack – your radio must have a rear AUX input. Warranty: 60 days.

What's in the box:

  • 3' Hyudai/Kia USB/AUX adapter harness
MFR #AX-HYKIA-USB

Product Research

Features

AUX/USB Adapter Harness: The Axxess Integrate AX-HYKIA-USB AUX/USB adapter harness is used when you want to retain the factory USB port & Aux input in select Hyundai and Kia vehicles, when replacing the factory radio with an aftermarket stereo that features a rear USB port & Aux input.

  • If your aftermarket stereo features a minijack (3.5mm) aux input, you will also need a female RCA to male stereo minijack adapter (sold separately).
  • As long as your new car stereo has a high-amperage charging port (1.5A or greater), this USB adapter harness should support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto operation. However, the number of variables involved means we can't guarantee compatibility.

Vehicle Compatibility: The AX-HYKIA-USB AUX/USB adapter harness can be used in select 2008-up Hyundai and Kia vehicles with a factory USB port & Aux input.

Q
Does anyone have instructions, or know how to get behind the existing jack to plug this in, on a 2014 Santa Fe Sport?
eric  Feb 16, 2020
1 answer
A
I have a 2012 and had to remove the shifter knob to be able to take the top of the console off. The center of the shifter pops off and exposes a retainer clip. There may be some YouTube videos available. I tried this on mine but ended up using the provided USB cable. The jack didn't support Android auto on my vehicle. It would only charge.

Will this work with Pioneer SPH-DA120 and Carplay? Some reviewers on other sites say "no" but maybe they are hooking it up wrong...

A
USB adapters like this as well as USB extension cables will not allow CarPlay to work with the Pioneer SPH-DA120 receiver.
