Product Research

Features

BMW & Mini Radio Replacement Interface Module: The Axxess LC-BMRC-01 interface is designed to allow you to replace the factory radio of select BMW & Mini vehicles with an aftermarket head unit, while retaining many factory features that are normally lost when the factory radio is removed.

Vehicle Compatibility: The Axxess LC-BMRC-01 is compatible with the following 2006-13 BMW & 2007-2015 Mini vehicles (as of 6/10/2016).

Make Model Year
BMW 1-Series 2008-2013
3-Series 2006-2013
M3 2007-2013
Mini Cooper 2007-2015

Amplified & Non-Amplified Systems: The Axxess LC-BMRC-01 can be used in BMW and Mini vehicles with no factory amplifier, or in BMW & Mini vehicles when bypassing the factory amplifier.

Retained Factory Features: The Axxess LC-BMRC-01 retains the following factory features.

  • +12V/10A Accessory Output: In many BMW & Mini vehicles, there is no 12-volt accessory wire in the factory harness, which requires the installer to run an accessory wire to the fuse box or underneath the steering column when installing an aftermarket radio. The LC-BMRC-01 is designed to provide a 12V/10A switched accessory output (red wire).
  • Warning Chimes: The LC-BMRC-01 retains factory warning chimes through onboard speaker in the interface module.
  • Retained Accessory Power (R.A.P.): The ignition power source of some vehicles keeps the radio on until one of the doors is opened. This feature is called the R.A.P. (retained accessory power). The LC-BMRC-01 is designed to retain this feature.

Optional Steering Wheel Control Adapter: The LC-BMRC-01 features a right-angle 3.5mm connector that lets you keep your vehicle's factory steering wheel controls via the optional Axxess Steering Wheel Control Interface (120ASWC1, sold separately), when installing an aftermarket head unit with a steering wheel control input.

Navigation Outputs: In addition, the LC-BMRC-01 provides navigation outputs (VSS, Parking Brake, and Reverse) to help ease the installation process of an aftermarket navigation radio.

Q
i have a 2009 bmw 328i x drive with logic 7 audio system so i have a factory amplifier, ii also have a line out convertor hooked up to amp in trunk and an aftermarket amp with two subs while keeping the factory radio, it doesnt sound that great and im thinking about this product but does that mean i have to bypass my factoryamp and if so how do i do that ?

Greetings David, and thank you for your question. This interface is to install an aftermarket stereo in the 2009 BMW 328i. It would also bypass the factory amplifier. There are a few 328i options. One may keep the factory amplifier, depending on the type of factory system you have. I would start by calling one of our advisors at 800-324-9695 and have them look at options for your vehicle.

Q
does this still allow the SOS light allow to throw a code?

I cannot find any mention about losing the SOS ability or other safety features while using this interface in its information. An advisor can look over our installation notes to see if this is a warning for your vehicle and they can be reached by calling 1-800-324-9695 to check

I installed this on a 2006 325xi with the base radio being replaced by a BOSS DIN chassis with Apple Car Play and Android Auto and had no issues, but my car did not have Bluetooth, I-Drive, or SOS. I'm not sure that I understand your question, but if you have an SOS light error on the dash now this won't fix it and if you don't have an SOS error now replacing the head unit will likely cause one unless you have it "coded out" by someone familiar with BMW software.

Not sure I understand the question, but this does NOT allow the SOS system to work. With every engine start, the SOS code displays then changes to the little exclamation warning symbol that stays shown for the entire drive...kind of annoying. A dealer may be able to clear the code, but I doubt they'd be able to get the SOS system working in conjunction with the Axxess interface.

Q
will this keep the original steering wheel controls and chimes in a 2009 328i ?
kyle  Nov 25, 2019

A
The ability to retain steering wheel controls with aftermarket receivers will be determined by the receiver you are using and the vehicle you have. For full information on this type of integration (including the parts you will need) please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.
