About the Metra GMOS-LAN-05 Wiring Interface

Ken Nail
Metra's GMOS-LAN-05 wiring interface lets you replace the factory radio in select OnStar-equipped 2006-up GM vehicles using the existing wiring and connectors. Even if you don't subscribe to OnStar, you'll need this interface to connect an aftermarket stereo.

Metra's GMOS-LAN-05 wiring interface lets you replace the factory radio in select OnStar-equipped 2006-up GM vehicles using the existing wiring and connectors. Even if you don't subscribe to OnStar, you'll need this interface to connect an aftermarket stereo.

Connect the GMOS-LAN-05 to your aftermarket radio, mount the module, and plug it into the existing factory plug. Get the great sound you want, and keep all of the important safety features intact.

You can adjust volume settings for OnStar as well as the safety chimes. In addition, if your vehicle is equipped with a factory-installed Bose stereo, this interface lets your new receiver work with the existing amplifiers. This interface gives you convenient plug-in connections for the Axxess steering wheel control adapter (not included) that works with most aftermarket stereos – that means less wiring work for you.

This interface is compatible with select 2006-and up General Motors vehicles. If you haven't done so already, please enter your vehicle information or call an Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 to find out if this item is compatible with your vehicle. Warranty: 1 year.

Product Research

Features

Overview: The GMOS-LAN-05 Interface is designed to retain the ONSTAR emergency services function and the warning chimes that are normally lost when the factory radio is removed and replaced by an aftermarket head unit. It also provides a 12-volt accessory output for proper aftermarket head unit operation. In addition, the GMOS-LAN-05 provides a Mute, Parking Brake, VSS or Speed Sense, and a Reverse Output to make installation of an aftermarket navigation head unit simpler and less time consuming.

Compatibility: The GMOS-LAN-05 is compatible with select 2006-up GM vehicles using the Digital Bose (Y91) amplified sound systems. Please consult Crutchfield's Outfit My Car for your specific vehicle and application.

Volume Adjustment: The GMOS-LAN-05 interface features potentiometer located on the 14 pin harness side of the module to adjust the volume, including chime and audible turn signal indicator volume.

Connections: The GMOS-LAN-05 consists of a single interface with a 14-pin connector on one end and a 16-pin connector on the other end, along with the corresponding harnesses. The 14-pin harness plugs into the interface and is hardwired to your new radio's harness. The 16-pin harness plugs into the interface and an OEM harness behind the radio. The 16-pin harness also has three leads to hardwire to the new radio.

OEM Steering Wheel Control Compatible (optional): The GMOS-LAN-05 features a right-angle 3.5mm connector that lets you keep your GM vehicle's OEM steering wheel controls via the optional Axxess Steering Wheel Control Interface (120ASWC1, sold separately).

Note: The GM vehicle must have factory steering wheel controls to retain access to the factory customization menu, once the factory radio is replaced with an aftermarket head unit.
