Product Research

Features

Overview: In the 1997-2004 Chevy Corvettes there are not 12-volt accessory wires currently in the factory harness making the installer run an accessory wire to the fuse box or underneath the steering column when installing an aftermarket radio. The Metra Axxess XSVI-2004 Amp Interface is designed to provide a 12-volt, 10-amp switched accessory output along with the rest of the wires needed to install an aftermarket radio.

R.A.P.: The R.A.P. (Retained Accessory Power) function, where power is supplied to the radio after the ignition is shut off until one the doors are opened is retained by the XSVI-2004 Amp Interface module.

Differential Line Converter: The XSVI-2004 will also retain the amplified door woofers through the use of a differential line converter. This helps eliminate turn on/off pops and allows you to adjust the level of the doors woofers. The XSVI-2004 Amp Interface module features four potentiometers (Front left/right and Rear left/right) to increase or decrease the audio level of the door woofers.

Installation: The Metra Axxess XSVI-2004 installs behind the vehicle's factory radio and connects between the factory radio's plug and vehicle harness. The XSVI-2004 Amp Interface module provides plug-in connectors as well as hard-wire connections.

Initialization: Once all the connection are completed, turn the vehicle's ignition key to the "On" position for thirty seconds and then turn the key off.

Customer Q&A

Q
Is this required if you are not using the factory amp and speakers?

A
An interface like this one can still provide other wires that are necessary for a radio installation like the 12V accessory wire as there is often no wire for that anymore (command to turn on radio is often send through the databus network of a vehicle). We may have other harnesses that cost less since all you need will be the power connections for the radio. I recommend contacting an advisor by calling 1-800-324-9695 to check for such options

Q
is this all plug and play for my 1999 corvette or is there any wiring i will need to do?

A
The Crutchfield ReadyHarness option would be added when purchasing a new receiver and all of the needed installation gear. We would then remove the wiring harness from the receiver box and make all of the possible connections. Just purchasing the interface by itself would not provide that option. Hope that helps.

I paid the extra money to have the wire harness completed by Crutchfield. All that I had to do was remove the old radio and reinstall the new one. It made the project a breeze.

Q
Does this include a 4 channel audio line output converter for adding amplifiers?
jim  Jul 13, 2021

A
No, this is a wiring interface that adapts and plugs into your stock radio wiring harness to install an aftermarket radio. This also retains factory premium sound system in 1997-2004 Corvettes. If you need help finding the correct interface give us a call at 1-800-324-9695!

Q
Will this work on my Ford 2009 edge limited?
enrique  Apr 20, 2019

A
I've looked at all the different versions of the 2009 Edge's and seen this harness does not work in any of them. I recommend contacting an advisor on 1-800-324-9695 to discuss the stock setup in yours and the radio you want to install to get a personal recommendation on a wiring harness My Bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/bio/Paul

Q
will I be able to keep factory 12 discs CD player that is mounted in trunk 2004 corvette ?
john  Mar 09, 2018

A
My Corvette has the factory trunk mount multi-disk CD player. After upgrading my stereo, the trunk mounted CD player was not usable. Even if it was usable, the old multi-disk player does not support MP3 compressed audio, which is what most CDs use. My after market stereo now just has the single disk player in the dash unit.

Will this work with my 2004 Chevy avalanche?
panagiota  Dec 25, 2013

A
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.
