Solid Enough for Me

Written by: dwitek from Traverse City, MI on February 22, 2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

For me when shopping for mounts the most important elements are adjustability, ease of mounting and weight bearing. I was pleased with the adjustibility of the mounts, they are able to swing left/right and up/down just about as much as you could possibly need. If you need more vertical or horizontal you might need to look into something custom. They were not complex to mount as long as you are reasonably able with a drill and level. Think it out before you start putting them up and by all means mount the speakers onto one side to check for clearances with ceilings and walls. There are large plastic locking nuts which are nice but I also found that the mounted speaker can interfere with them if you take the mounts to the limit of their movement in the down direction. I ended up having to shave a little off one of them to make it fit properly. Finally, the speakers I'm using these mounts for are Polk Audio T15 which weigh about 8 pounds. The mounts had no problem taking the weight although if you tap them they will oscillate left-right a little due to them being made out of plastic. This calms down in a few seconds. I was able to use the screws that came with the mount but since I didn't have a stud at my locations I also used mollies in the drywall to secure everything tight.

Pros: Solid hardware, weight capability, adjustability

Cons: Locking nuts had to be altered

Excellent Speaker Mounts

Written by: Dan from Illinois on June 7, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These mounts worked great for me. I mounted a pair of Klipsch B-2 bookshelf speakers. They weigh 11 lbs and are 12" tall, 7" wide, and 8" deep. I attached the mounts to the rear of the speaker...a bit to the side to avoid interfering with the port and on the bottom half of the speaker so that I could still tilt them down without the speaker hitting the wall. The hardware for attaching the mounts to the speakers was fine, but I used sturdier hardware to attach the mount to the wall. Make sure you attach these to a stud. Mine haven't budged since mounting them.

Pros: sturdy hard plastic, good rotation and tilt

Cons: small

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These mounts are so small that they do not stick out away from the wall enough to give you much room to swivel your speakers. They are good if you will not need to swivel your speakers very much.

Pros: Easy to install

Cons: Not able to swivel speakers very much.

Perfect for the price

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These mounts worked perfectly for my surround system in my basement. Used for rear surround speakers up near the ceiling with connecting wires concealed behind the drywall. Makes a very clean, neat install.

Pros: Price was extremely reasonable.

Cons: My speakers were 10 lbs. Don't know if I would trust the 20lb rating.

Great mounts

Excellent mounts for my Boston Acoustic bookshelf speakers. Easy assemble and put up. Might buy another set and use the pair to mount my center channel on the wall with a good down angle on it.

Pros: Ease of assembly and installation.

Cons: Haven't found any yet.

Flimsy

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Didn't feel they were substantial enough for my 16# speakers. Might be ok for lighter speaker, but not the 20# rated in my opinion.

Pros: Nice design

Cons: Too light for 20#

Exactly what I needed!!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have an old pair of Polk SRS bookshelf speakers which have been relegated to garage duty in my new house. At 13+pounds each, they need a substantial mount. Short of using shelves, these were the only ones I could find to support the weight. Installation was easy once I got over putting holes in the cabinets. They feel a little weird as they flex a bit, but once I got them mounted they are solid.

Pros: Capacity, versatility

Cons: None

Product is as described and very complete. Instructions are clear and understandable. Installation was a snap. I used this kit to hang a rear set of Klisph surround speakers, after upgrading the older set I had. Would buy these again, if I had a need.

Pros: Instructions are clear and understandable

Cons: Couldn't find any.

Great mounts; awful hardware

Written by: Matt M from Columbus, OH on December 29, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The mounts are great and seem very sturdy. But I can't manage more than 3 stars because the mounting hardware is awful. 7 of 8 of the cheap plastic butterfly anchors broke. I almost lost $400 in L & R channels as a result. I've replaced them with 3/8" x 3" toggle bolts.

Pros: Flexibility. Weight tolerance.

Cons: Mounting hardware.

Good for Heavier Speakers

Written by: Ari from Park City, UT on May 5, 2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Speakers sound best when they have a solid foundation and these wall mounts are much better than most at giving a sturdy foundation. They are easy to install, although you will need to drill into the back of your speakers. The adjustment is nice because you can tilt the speakers down. If your speakers are wide it will limit the side to side adjustment. I've was able to mount a pair of Tanoy powered speakers for my surround speakers with no trouble. I would mount them on a stud FOR SURE. One very nice feature is you can install all the hardware then easily lift the speakers and drop them into place. No holding and screwing. It is also easy to remove the speakers if necessary, simply lift them up.

Pros: Adjustable, easy to install, supports heavy speakers

Cons: Must drill into back of speakers.

I had quite a difficult time (surprisingly) finding wall mounts for my speakers, bose 201's. I needed the mounts to hold more than what the average mount could hold plus I need them to be maneuverable on both axis. of course they had to be very sturdy. they were simple to install, they do exactly what I need them to do and they haven't budged on iota. they're really a great little product

Pros: easy to install, rotate up & down and side to side, very sturdy.

Cons: none

Good wall-mount brackets

Written by: Chris from Hartford, CT on January 19, 2011

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I needed brackets that could handle speakers somewhat larger and heavier than typical "satellite" type speakers. Each bracket comes in four pieces: two separate hinges to screw into the wall and two semi-circular arms that are connected by bolts. One arm fits over the hinges, and the other holds the speaker. The hinges allow the arms to swing side-to-side, and the arms can be tilted by adjusting the bolts. They came disassembled, and I could not believe how small the box was; also, they're not metal but rather plastic. However, they seem sturdy enough, and were fairly easy to assemble and mount on the wall. As others have noted, you do have to drill into your speakers to mount them to the brackets; I had to drill slightly off-center line to fit them around the speaker wire plugs, but it worked okay. I mounted two old JBL 500s, that each weigh about 8 pounds. I used plastic drywall anchors: the ones provided were a bit skimpy, but you can find better ones for pennies at any hardware store (bring one of the wall screws with you to size them). The drywall anchors were very convenient for my location requirements, but for speakers that weigh a bit more, you might want to find wall studs. Overall, these are good brackets: they're sturdy, provide good flexibility for mounting locations and positions, and are reasonably priced.

They really looked bigger in the photo, I was shocked though to see them easily hold up my 15 lb polk speakers. To get the angle I wanted though I had to mount them sorta on one side of the speaker instead on the center. I would recommend to anyone with heavy speakers.

I used these brackets to hang a pair of Polk R10 speakers (~15 lbs each). These brackets have proven to be rock solid - mounting angle has not moved for two years. Also, with their two-part construction, removing the speakers for cleaning is effortless, requiring no tools and allowing me to maintain the mounting angle. Note that it is worth finding a stud to mount these brackets when supporting heavy loads.

Work great!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I needed brackets to mount a pair of 20 lb Polk Monitor 40's horizontally as my side surrounds. They each weigh about 20 lb. The brackets work great but I had to use metal toggle bolts for the top wall mount as plastic, screw- in anchors were close to pulling out of the drywall with the weight. I've bought a second set of brackets for a set of Polk R150's which I'm using for rear speakers.

Great! (and Cheap)

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was looking for some way to hang my Pioneer S-H152B-K 2-way bookshelf (surround) speakers; they're about 11 lbs. each, and most of the smaller mounts will only support about 8 lbs. I wasn't really crazy about the idea of drilling into my beloved speakers, but after the first hole, it wasn't that bad. The mounts are light, but sturdy. They do come with the wall anchors, though the instructions seem to say they're not included. I needed them as the speakers' locations were not over wall studs. Once mounted, the speakers seem to be quite sturdy, and adjustment is very easy.
