Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Easy installation, the only problem is, I have to keep tightening to stay in place.

Pros: Easy installation Faceplate looks good

Cons: Speakers doesn't stay in place. Because of the screw keeps getting loose.

Very poor design

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought for definitive technology pro monitor 800 speakers that weigh 4lbs each. They hold up for about a week, then drop down. After a couple of times resetting them, they are basically ruined. Very frustrating, but thankful that Crutchfield stands by their product.

Perfect idea for surround sound with drop ins.

Pros: Perfect fit and easy

Cons: Don't over tighten

Just ok

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The installation went ok until it came time to adjust the speaker angle. The set screw on the ball joint had to be tightened so much that I thought I would break the supplied Allen wrench. Once I tightened them to the breaking point, I plugged in my speakers and played a song at medium volume. One of the two speakers was pointing straight down half way through the song. This is unacceptable for such an expensive product. I am going to purchase a different set screw at the hardware store and see if that will fix the problem.

Pros: Look great and have unlimited adjustments.

Cons: Set screw that holds the adjustment does not work. Too expensive.

Pre-Wired Home- EASY

Written by: Jmac_o3 from Texas on January 3, 2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had a pre-wired media room in our new home, with ugly white blank faceplates. No openings for wires, just simply a blank faceplate to store the wires behind. Being the first time I've ever done something like this, I wanted to make it look like professional finish. After visiting all of the local hardware and media outlets nearby, I soon realized there was no product available for sale to replace those faceplates and simultaneously mount my speakers. No items that would at the same time let the wire come through without looking tacky. Stumbled onto this item after extensive online research. Installed in under an hour 5 speakers. I love how it came with extenders so that I could position our back speakers a little bit lower. This is the only product that could replace those ugly blank face plates left in most pre-wired homes for you to have to figure out.

Pros: Easy to install. Professional finish. Available in black or white to match you home. Directions easy to read.

Cons: Would like to have more extenders available for side purchase to lower speakers from ceiling a bit more.

Needs better design to support speaker

Like everything about this mount except that the set screw to lock the speaker into location did not work well. The mount would relax and lower the speaker.

Not the best product

for the price I expected better, there isn't much of a market for this type of mount.

Pros: fits over electrical box

Cons: barely supported the speaker, had to take down and rework the bracket several times.

Work, but not great

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These were about the only speaker mounts that I could find that were made to install with a standard square receptacle / light switch box. They work perfectly for that. There are two major issues. One: The tension on the radial arm that holds the speaker in position won't hold my speakers up without sagging. I bought these with a pair of Polk Audio Blackstone TL2's which are under the advertised weight limit for the speaker mounts, but they still sag. Luckily, that's not a big problem for me because they hang down from the ceiling so they actually droop down to just about the right angle for my room. Here's the biggest flaw: the posts that come with the mounts (there are two included, each a different length) are painted end to end such that there's paint on the threads that screw into the mounting arm. I found it IMPOSSIBLE to screw the arm onto the post without removing some of the paint with some steel wool. And even then I had to use some pliers (with a rubber pad in the mouth) to secure the post while I forced the post to screw into the arm. In doing this, I scratched the paint where I held it with the pliers. This is a horrible finish on what is otherwise a decent design.

Pros: Works great with a standard receptacle box.

Cons: Weight limitation on the mounting arm and very difficult to put together due to paint on the post threads

Works great...metal....not plastic crap!

Pros: We ordered the black since our speakers were black. They are nice and sturdy and match perfectly.

Nice Surprise

Written by: Jerry from Hollidaysburg, PA on September 13, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I used these to mount to an existing duplex wall box. Speaker wires through the box and bracket hole. Perfect fit to the duplex box. I mounted a pair of Polk Audio OWM3 speakers (four Lbs) and the brackets hold great. They gave me lots of latitude in speaker positioning due to the various extensions and configurations available.

Pros: White matches the speakers, various speaker angles available, fit and finish good.

Cons: None, pay attention to your speaker weight, I don't think they will hold much over 5 pounds at stated

Be careful about speaker weight

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Decent manufacturing and finish quality. Rated at 5 lbs. - weigh your speaker - do not assume. Four stars only because I can not believe there are very many surround speakers out there in five lb or less category. Hence, not fit for intended purpose. I could be wrong. If yours are, then all other aspects of the product were good.

Compatibility: The Pinpoint AM21 Universal Speaker Mount is constructed from steel and aluminum for durability and strength. The Pinpoint AM21 can be used as a wall or ceiling mount bracket for speakers up to 5 lbs. Its suitable for speakers with a key-hole slot, as well as speakers with a rear-mount or bottom-mount single threaded insert (M4, M5, M6, 1/4"-20). This mount comes with all the hardware needed to mount your speaker to both a solid surface (drywall/block), as well as single gang electrical box.

Installation: An included color matched adapter plate allows the AM21 to be mounted on a single gain electrical box, found in pre-wired locations in home theater rooms. The adapter plate adds a custom appearance for a professional looking installation. Plastic covers hide mounting hardware for a clean, professional appearance when not using the electrical plate adapter. The Pinpoint AM21's modular design allows your speaker to be attached to the bracket after installing it to the wall or ceiling, and offers adjustable tilt and swivel. A comprehensive hardware kit provides the most common screw sizes (M4, M5, M6, 1/4"-20) for attaching your speaker.

Adjustable: The AM21 can be rotated 360-degrees and tilts 90-degrees. Included mounting-arms allow the speaker to be positioned 2.75", 3.75", or 6" (standard mounting) and 2.15", 3.15", or 3.40" (electrical box mounting) from the wall or ceiling allowing for exact speaker placement and improved sound for home theater systems.

Customer Q&A

Crutchfield asked
Why did you buy this?

It was a recommended accessory for the speakers I purchased. [ BRADLEY  Feb 01, 2016 ]
direct mount is good [ Peter  Dec 20, 2015 ]

2 questions already asked

Sorry I can't answer My speakers were Polk [ Paul  Nov 29, 2015 ]
That will depend on exactly which speakers you have. However, if the speakers have a keyhole slot or a threaded insert for mounting, and are under 5 lbs each, then this bracket will work great with them. [ Jeff  Mar 03, 2014 ]  Staff
