AM24 with Polk TL2

Written By Celtic, Virginia on Thursday, October 15, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Screws provided did not fit the TL2, the keyhole adapter did not fit either.I went to a local hardware store and bought (2) 1 1/2" - 20mm screws and it worked out fine. Adjusts well, supports well.

Pros: price.

Cons: had to get extra parts.

Replacement speaker mounts

Written By Eric, Kentucky on Saturday, August 15, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was concerned about the adjustability of these mounts but, once I got them mounted, which, amazingly, required no re-drilling or hole making in my walls. once the old mounts were removed, but the design allows for what amounts to 3 axis positioning and the only real obstacle to pointing them whichever way you want is the wall or things on the wall. Speaker attachment options were spot on with the Polk TL1600 we'd bought and if something else were used there were at least 2 or 3 other methods for speaker attachment.

Crutchfield, once again, for the win!

Pros: Simple, elegant look that is versatile in speaker attachment method and positioning.

Cons: Cover plate(s) seems a bit "cheesy". It would probably boost the price considerably for it to be made of metal and finished the same way as the articulated mount but, there it is. Other than that, well pleased with this mounting solution for those Polk speakers.

Serves the purpose

Great option for a Sonos Play:1

Written By Glen, Washington on Tuesday, March 24, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I would totally recommend this for the Sonos Play:1. The installation was a breeze and this wall-mount has multiple configurations for any application. As long as you know how to find a stud and can use a drill you're good to go.

Pros: Ease of installation, multiple configurations with included hardware, easy to follow user instructions

Cons: can't think of any

not what they advertise

Written By miffed, Glendale, CA on Monday, August 11, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These could be great mounts but for a few things. #1. the mounting hardware is cheaply made and will snap off when screwing the base into the wall (into a stud) One out of four screws (two for each mount snapped off and I had to spend 20 minutes extracting it from the wall. #2. In order for these to hold the advertised 12 pounds max, the speaker can only be dangled from them. My Klipsch RS 400's dangle from them and lean against the wall. #3 quality control needs to be increased. One of the integral parts for mounting the speakers is a small piece that fits inside the mounting head and then has a screw that fits into the keyhole mount on the speaker. In one for the two AM24's I bought, this worked great in the other, that small piece was not threaded and the parts could not be screwed together. I got a nut and bolt from a local hardware store that fit and got it to work.

Pros: They look nice on the wall/

Cons: Cheap screws and mounting hardware. Not nearly as sturdy as they advertise.

The product is nice, but it was not what I expected. I expected to be able to pull of the outlet plate and bolt this right on. It was not even close

Pros: Good Looks

Cons: Did not bolt direct to outlet box, not even close

Pros: none

Cons: had to modify speaker to accept the flat bracket. The keyhole acc, would not work in the keyhole slot in back of the speaker,

Speaker Bracket

Written By Steven Z, Springville, Utah on Tuesday, April 16, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This thing is 10 times better than the manufacturer's bracket. I'm not sure of the weigh limits for the bracket but if you attach it to a stud it would hold up me and I weigh 200 lbs!

Pros: Will hold a much larger speaker than I have now.

Cons: The allen wrench is not quite the right size and slips if you really crack down on it.

Not very good

Written By Jeff, Brooklyn, NY on Sunday, February 03, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased a pair of these mounts to mount a pair of Klipsch RB-41's. The RB-41's are small bookshelf speakers, weighing only 6lbs each. These AM24 mounts seemed perfect to use for mounting my speakers to the wall. Once the speakers were on the wall I could tell right away that these mounts were not going to be able to support my speakers. My RB-41's were sagging, and it looked that at any second the mounting tip (which attaches the speaker to the mount) was going to break.

I can see these mounts being good for small satellite speakers, like something the size of the Energy Take classic or Bose cubes. For speakers like the Klipsch RB-41, these mounts are just not going to work well.

Great product

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great product, exactly as shown in the pictures. Installation is not too difficult. I have a couple of Polks bookshelf speakers. The screws that hold the speaker on the unit seem tiny, but seem to be holding my 9lbs speakers pretty well. Shipping was fast, crutchfield uses biodegradable packing peanuts which is cool (they disintegrate and melt away in water). Customer service was top notch (as usual). Overall, a very happy customer.

Pros: Compact, sturdy

Cons: None really (screws are a bit tiny, but not too bad)

Excellent product, I have had it for about two weeks now and I am very satisfied. I am using them to hold a pair of Polk T3 for my surround and they look very good. It's support is very strong and you can aim them basically any way you whant.

Pros: Heavy construction

Cons: None so far

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

could not use with the speakers I purchased even though they were given as a mounting bracket that could be used.... I would have had to go out and buy longer screws to mount the speakers

Cons: I sent them back... the ones I had mounted on the wall already fit the way the brackets I had mounted on the wall were also purchased from Crutchfield many many years ago

Needed 3rd party bolts

Nice quailty, sturdy bracket. Bolts supplied not long enough for Polk speakers.

Pros: Good looking, strong

Cons: May need 3rd party parts to work with some speakers.

Pinpoint AM-24 Speaker Mounts

Written By Matt C, Waxhaw, NC on Friday, January 20, 2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These mounts were more or less as advertised. Some of my speakers were on the heavier side (7.7 lbs), so that is why I went with these. Getting the set screws tight enough to support the speakers without "creeping" was a bit of a challenge, but once installed they looked decent. Overall I'm satisfied with them.

Pros: Appearance and overall adjustability

Cons: A bit tempermental to tighten.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The item arrived in only a few days, even with standard shipping. Configuring the bracket was simple as was the installation. Regardless of speaker weight, I would recommend the use of wall anchors, as the bracket alone of pretty "beefy". This bracket is more than adequate for my size speakers, which only weigh a few pounds, but the price was competitive with brackets with a lower weight rating, so I went with these in case I ever get new, heavier speakers.

Pros: Easy configuration of the mounting options and simple installation.

Cons: Only shortfall was that you can't hide the wire, as there is not a way to run the speaker wire through the actual bracket to keep it completely out of sight.

Takes a bit of work but worth it!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I read a lot of reviews before picking this one. It's all metal and will hold lots of speaker but you have to work with it. Before mounting it, take a long look and play around with it a bit. I put 8 lb speakers up near the ceiling. It took some small careful adjustments to get it just right. Depending on the orientation of the mounts, you sometimes need to consider the allen screws as "stops" or rest points not just locking screws. I locked mine up on the wall before mounting the speakers. I put a lot of force on these and they didn't budge. The speakers have been up for weeks and have not slipped. Given the wide variance in "quality" I can see where other people might have problems.

The AM-24 is neat, sturdy and easy to mount the speaker to. Used the part included to
mount my single mounting point speakers. Saved the extra parts included in case I buy
different speakers with keyhole or dual mounting points.

Very good mounts

Written By KGM, Wexford, PA on Monday, June 07, 2010

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these mounts to use with the Energy RC Micro satellite speakers. The Energy RC Micro speaker has a keyhole mount and I was told that these mounts would work. Unfortunately they didn't work with the keyhole on the Energy speakers, the "key" was too big for the keyhole. However, that keyhole mount is removable so that you can use a screw mount, though it is inset into the back of the speakers which means you have to take the mount apart to get it attached to the speaker piece by piece. None the less I was able to get the mounts attached.

The only tough part about using these mounts is accessing the allen screws to tighten the mounts whenever you have the speakers attached and are working in a corner. A little bending/customizing of the included allen key wrench and I was able to get the mounts tightened and pointed where I wanted so all in all they were a good purchase and I would recommend them.

Product Research

Overview: The Pinpoint AM24 universal speaker wall mount bracket has been designed for maximum flexibility and compatibility for today's home theater speakers. Sold as a single mount, the AM24 offers multiple mounting options for traditional speaker mounting applications for wall locations. Made from steel and aluminum, the AM24 will support speakers up to 12 pounds and includes all hardware to mount nearly all home theater speakers on the market today including Single, Dual and Keyhole mounting points. The AM24 incorporates a ball joint system allowing for endless angles for fine tuning the speaker's sound and simple two-piece design allowing for quick mounting.

Note: The AM24 is sold individually as a single speaker bracket; not in pairs. The AM24 is available in the following finishes - Black and White.

Precise Adjustment: Once your speaker is mounted, the AM24 allows you to rotate your speaker 360-degrees and pivot the speaker 90-degrees for precise positioning of the speaker in your home theater system. The AM24 comes supplied with all the necessary hardware to mount your speaker to the bracket and the bracket to your wall.

Note: The speaker is placed 3.375" from the wall when fully extended.

Speaker Mounts: The bracket works with the following types of satellite speakers mounts:

  • Single Threaded Insert: If the speaker has a single threaded insert, one of the supplied long screws (M5 x 25mm, M6 x 25mm, 1/4"-20 x 1", or 1/4"-20 x 1.75") can be used to attach the speaker to the bracket using the single point adapter.
  • Dual Threaded Inserts: If the speaker has dual threaded inserts, you must first attach the dual point adapter plate to the bracket, then use the shorter screw pairs (M5 x 12mm, M6 x 12mm, or 1/4"-20 x 1") to attach the speaker to the bracket. Screw spacing for the dual point adapter plate is 2.0" to 2.85"
  • Keyhole Slot: If the speaker has a keyhole slot, you must first loosely attach the M5 threaded screw-cap to the M5 x 12mm screw through the single point adapter. The head of the screw is then inserted into the keyhole slot and tightened to hold the speaker firmly.

Wall Mounting: The speaker bracket's metal mounting plate is first mounted to the wall in a vertical position. There are two mounting holes with a screw spacing of 1.875" to 2.625" for the supplied wood screws, plus a raised lip for routing the speaker wire through the wall. Once the metal mounting plate is secured to the wall, the cover plate snaps over the metal mounting plate for a clean and professional look.

Mounting Requirement: It is recommended that the bracket be mounted to a wall stud. If the only location is drywall for ceiling or wall mounting then it will necessary to use the supplied drywall anchors for a speaker up to 5 lbs. If your speaker is over 5 lbs, it will be necessary to obtain high quality drywall anchors like Buildex E-Z Toggle or toggler Anchor available at most hardware stores in the US.
