Overview

Our take on the XS Power XP750CK

If you're putting together a serious, competition-level audio system, you know you're going to need extra power. And you also know that putting together all the parts and pieces you need for that part of the project can sometimes be as challenging as designing the stereo system itself.

One-stop shopping for your second battery

If you're putting together a serious, competition-level audio system, you know you're going to need extra power. And you also know that putting together all the parts and pieces you need for that part of the project can sometimes be as challenging as designing the stereo system itself.

XS Power's XP750-CK kit takes the legwork (and guesswork) out of adding a second battery. This complete kit comes with everything you need, from the compact, powerful XP750 power cell all the way down to zip ties and screws.

This XS Power kit includes:

  • 1 XP750 power cell
  • 1 stamped aluminum battery mount
  • 18' XP Flex power cable
  • 3' XP Flex ground cable
  • 6 XS power heat shrink
  • 6 crimp terminals
  • 2 battery clamps
  • 2 wire grommets
  • 2 ANL fuse holders
  • 2 150A fuses
  • 10 wire clamps
  • 10 zip ties
  • 10 screws

The included XP750 battery is designed for 500-1500 watt systems, and you can use multiple kits for systems that require even more power. Warranty: 2 years.

Important Note: You must charge this battery before installing it. We recommend XS Power's HF IntelliCharger (sold separately) to charge this battery properly. Improper charging can permanently damage the battery, and void your warranty.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I would definitely buy it again! I was debating whether or not to get capacitors or a secondary battery. With the battery, I was afraid that I would lose more trunk space. But I was able to fit it in the spare tire space, where I plan to set up my amplifier so I can still have my trunk space. Comes with everything that you see in the picture. Although, the cables could have been 0 AWG instead of 4. I already ran a 0 AWG cable to my trunk and was just waiting for the battery to complete the next step. The cables are good quality cables, I probably find some other use for them. The battery holder is also nice and makes installation a breeze! I am a hard critic and couldn't give it a 5 star because of the missing couplings. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to run a secondary battery while saving space. I just order my sound system and will write a review once I start using it. Great product so far!

Pros: Small enough to fit just about anywhere, comes with everything that you need to install the battery.

Cons: Should come with couplings to fill in the gaps in the O AWG fuse holders and the cables should be bigger than 4AWG.

Everything looks good, the size of the battery is great, thought it was gonna bigger and heavier but im happy with it cause it won't take up any room at all, i haven't installed in my car yet only put the first charge on it i hope it lives up to it's reputation

Pros: Size and weight is good

Cons: None so far, hope it stays that way

I have a 2000 watt kenwood powering two kenwood 12 inch subs. After installing the kit, which was very easy, i played my radio fairley loud for three hours with the car off. When i came back to turn the car on, she crank right up with no problem. I higly recomend this if u have a decent amount of power for your setup.

Pros: Amazing

Cons: There are no cons

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

All in all it does what it's supposed to. i havent run it to it's full potential because i really dont want to deep cycle it. I ran my Avalanche with the Custom JL audio stealthbox sitting in my garage for about an hour without starting the vehicle once and when i decided to give her a crank she turned right over and there were no issues. The cabling is good for me since i was installing a Capacitor and 2 other amps in the sam location it saved me some room while still being heavy duty enough to double team with my main battery and get the juice to my subs when i needed it. Its small looks nice and comes with wiring kit that saved me time and money. I wish i could upload the install pics so you guys could see.

Pros: Small, cool factor, does its job

Cons: none yet.

Great little kit for an easy upgrade

Written by: Matt from Wisconsin Dells, WI on June 13, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Firstly, I have to say that this is a great little kit that includes everything you need to upgrade your existing battery or add a second for more juice. All of the parts were packaged nicely and come as no-brainer as possible. Everything is pretty self-explanatory as far as the install, and everything is pretty high quality. I only have two qualms with this product. The first problem I had was that this kit includes 4-gauge wire to wire everything up; that may or may not be thick enough, but when I'm adding such a powerful setup to my car, I would expect 0-gauge wire or at least a 2-gauge minimum. I bought my own 0-gauge wire and crimped ring terminals on myself (the fuse holders included will accept up to about 1/0-gauge, which is nice); when running two batteries together (especially as far as 17-feet) I would expect something bigger than 4-guage. Secondly, there are no in-box instructions for the install. As I said earlier, it is pretty self explanatory and there are instructions on the back, but if you are a beginner to this type of thing you may need to do some more research before installing this kit. Again, overall this is a great little kit to get the job done. Make sure you know exactly how you are wiring your setup before you install this to avoid any headaches, and consider upgrading the cable to something a little heavier duty (even though it requires work time and effort on your part).

Pros: Battery holder for easy-install Dual fuse holders (fuses pre-installed, accepts up to 1/0-gauge wire) Easy installation Post-mount converters for multiple terminals (excluding the need for a distribution block)

Cons: Thin (4-gauge) wire for a large project

Good addition

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good product and a good addition to my system. I'm not sure if it was needed but it does help a lot with the headlight dim. Have one alpine mrp-f300 hooked and plan to hook a sub amp to it as well around 600 watts. Kind of hard to install

Pros: Good product. Good quality. Everything included. Fixes headlight dim

Cons: Hard to install in my case

Product Research

Features

Overview: The XS Power XP750 is a 12-volt battery that is designed to be used as a supplemental power source in your vehicle. It can be used to provide additional power for your car audio system, or can be used in marine applications. It is not designed to be installed under the hood or replace the OEM battery in your vehicle.

Terminals: The XP750 battery has a terminal insert with an M5 thread. It comes with socket cap head bolts that allow you to fasten the ring terminal to the battery, so no additional hardware is necessary. The XP750 is not compatible with other terminal adapters offered by XS Power.

Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM): XS Power's AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) batteries use a fibrous material to suspend the liquid electrolyte against the lead plates. Because the electrolyte is absorbed in the material, there is little chance of an acid leak, even in the event the case is ruptured. AGM batteries contain more lead compared to traditional "flooded" batteries, thus producing more power.

Installation: In typical car stereo applications, XP-series batteries are installed in the trunk or hatch of the vehicle, close to the amplifier. It should be wired in parallel (+ to + and - to -) with your vehicle's battery. The positive lead is run back to the main battery, while the negative lead should be grounded to the vehicle's metal chassis near the secondary battery. A second battery install kit, such as the XS Power AK1000, can be used to connect the XP750.

Charging the Battery: It is very important to properly charge an Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) battery before using. Improper charging can permanently damage the battery, and will void the warranty. The XS Power HF IntelliCharger for AGM Batteries (sold separately) has a microprocessor that monitors the charging process to avoid overcharging, and is recommended for this battery.

Specifications: The XP750 has the following specifications:

  • Maximum Output: 750 watts
  • Reserve Capacity: 28 minutes
  • Discharge Capacity: 22 Ah (amp hours)
  • Dimensions: Length=7.13", Height=6.57", Width=3.03"
  • Weight: 14.5 pounds

Yes it is safe to use a capacitor with this product. [ JOEY  Jun 23, 2016 ]
I use my 2 Farrad capacitor with this kit and have had no problems at all. Works great but would still recommend an alternator upgrade. [ Andrew  Jun 22, 2016 ]
You can use a capacitor , i also had a capacitor too which was a soundquest 2 farad and ive been told that capacitors are useless ,that im better off with a battery and as i have a voltage meter connected to my amp, this kit actually helped alot with my power needs . i wouldnt recommend putting a capacitor since it would work the alternator more but you can put it if you want to. i have a 2015 sentra it couldnt handle a 1500 rms and with the cap it still didnt help but with the battery it made a huge difference . no more flickering lights but i also did a big 3 so my system has been running great for the past like 5 months without a problem.Hpefully i answered your question. [ JAMES  Jun 22, 2016 ]
Yes you still can. The capacitor helps the amp pull a more consistent draw. These are very good batteries therefore adding a capacitor wouldn't hurt [ Jerel  Jun 22, 2016 ]
There really is no need for a cap with this product, but you should be safe if you combine both consider how much power you will require and if it's necessary, most setups that use both in tandem are drawing huge amounts of power more than i would ever need or desire, my 1200 watt kicker amp works well with just the battery but i also have an isolator as well, haven't experienced any dimming but i don't turn my amp up higher than half way, my need isn't that extreme, i prefer it more mellow and i don't want to shake my new car apart [ STEVEN  Jun 21, 2016 ]
Capacitor isn't really needed. The battery alone generates enough power for pretty much any amp less than 1000 watts max. If you use a bigger amp than that I suggest looking into the next size up of this particular battery [ Andy  Jun 21, 2016 ]
First thing first is to do the big three then with this kit your dimming lights will be history. [ Michael  Feb 01, 2016 ]
I Wish I could be more helpful, but I actually spoke to the CRUTCHFIELD REP and he was very informative. He helped me finalize my system. [ ISRAEL  Feb 01, 2016 ]
is possible, depending on the severity of your issues, that additional power to the all could help some. but ultimately, what you are doing is pushing your amp closer to peak much more frequently than it is designed to run. a dedicated battery would help more if your vehicle charging system wasn't keeping up with the demand of the amp. you're certainly shortening the lifespan of the amp by pegging it out so much, so that is something to keep in mind. if you are experiencing something like intermittent failure after running the system for some time, my guess would be that your best bet is going to be some active cooling. check the amp after running it hard and see how hot it's getting. if it's just short failures following the most demanding audio outputs, but your charging system for the vehicle isn't draining, you may have better luck with a capacitor. for a better answer, you'll need to specify what power problems you're having. you're best course of action, obviously, would be a 2nd amp. barring that, ensuring that you are using high quality wire from the amp to the subs will keep them running as smooth as the 300w deficiency from the amp will allow. premium, oxygen-free copper, and I may be on the overkill end of the spectrum, but I run no smaller than 8 gauge from any amp, especially to subs. personally, I run 8 gauge from amp to crossovers, and 4 gauge to subs. but, like I said, I err on the side of caution when it comes to wiring. [ DUSTIN  Feb 01, 2016 ]
i would recommend that you use a capacitor to solve that problem. It will also help if your lights are dimming when the woofer is hitting hard. [ MARK  Feb 01, 2016 ]
It is rated RMS. iIf you plan on running anything 750@ I ohm it will not be big enough from your lights dimming on hard bass notes from my experience. [ IGNACIO  Jul 07, 2015 ]
I believe it's RMS not Peak. [ MICHAEL  Jul 03, 2015 ]
4 gauge [ Michael  Feb 01, 2016 ]
16 gauge [ DALE H  Jan 01, 2014 ]
Robert the size of the power cable is 4AWG. I put a wire mic to it and it measured at 4awg. I hope this helps... JUST A fyi I am running 4 HD JL amps and after install my headlights stopped dimming. [ IGNACIO  Dec 20, 2013 ]
