Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Luckily, some of the wires were taped off as not needed. I just wish the wiring colors would match instead of having to call Crutchfield for assistance.

Pros: Labels in place for wires not needed.

Cons: The chime is absolutely annoying and the car one still worked, so I manually shut it off.

All you have to do is connect the speaker wires by color and use wire end connectors. The other stereo wires are in a plug that fit my car's plug. Easy! A car stereo dealer quoted me a $200 price for this harness! Plus I didn't have to pay for installation because of the good instruction booklet. I'm not at all handy and it was easy!

Pros: Everything

Cons: None. You lose your temperature gauge, but there is no way to recover it.

Easy to wire and hook up. This little blue magic box will rout the electrons through it's circuitry and enable the use of your factory wiring harness to your speakers and system.

Pros: Easy to follow instructions. It didn't let the smoke out when powered up.

Cons: We could a man on the moon in '69 but we can't make the little magic box any smaller? Really?

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Worked as described in my 2006 Cobalt LS Sedan w/o on star or premium audio. Has the option to add door chime, but I didn't need this to I switched it off as the 05-06 have a separate speaker for the door chime (the newer ones play through the speaker). Also used the RAP connection for the remote wire of the subwoofer I just bought. Works great. I plan to use it for one of the cigarette outlets and increase the current rating (1A normally, going to increase that for for GPS)

Pros: Works Relatively cheap considering you only need to unplug one connector to return to a fully stock system. Easy to use.

Cons: None to speak of. Heads up, a soldering iron and tape is recommended for the connections.

Great product, does what it says, no glitches whatsoever. Easy to install and a perfect fit with my Ponitiac G6 and JVC unit. Wire connections seem tight and secure without any wiggle room or slip. I would recommend this to anyone. This was my first time ever installing an aftermarket radio, sub, and amplifier. I would go with Crutchfield in a heartbeat for my next vehicle audio installation.

Pros: Easy install - Quality made

Great PAC C2R-GM11B Wiring Interface

Written by: JT from Pittsburgh, PA on October 16, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this item along with an aftermarket JVC head unit in order to connect my factory wiring harness to the JVC's. It also retained the car's chimes, and Driver Info Center in my '05 Chevy Cobalt.

Installation was smooth using Crutchfield's directions and a little bit of the internet.

My only suggestion for first timers like myself is not to get overwhelmed with all of the colored wires. Just wire them up one at a time. Also, test everything before you screw the head unit back in.

Pros: Easy installation

Cons: Slightly pricy, but you can get it for half the price when ordering a head unit.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The adapter makes it simple to connect the radio to the car. It would probably be almost just as easy to connect the cables directly, as they are all color coded on both sides, but I'm not sure if there are some fuses or on-way gates in the adapter. Turn off the beeping sound if you're installing this on a Chevy Cobalt 2006, it is not necessary (contrary to what the description says, the warning sounds on that car does not come from the stock radio, but from elsewhere in the dashboard).

Pros: Straight-forward.

Cons: Requires splicing a lot of cables, so make sure to get wire connectors/nuts. Very overpriced, the profit margin on this must be of several hundreds percent, but there is no competition, so we are stuck.

Good Wiring Harness

Written by: Derrick D. from Haltom City, TX on January 13, 2014

2005 Chevrolet Cobalt
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This wiring harness was easy to understand and use, even though it turns that this particular wiring harness was probably not strictly necessary for my car.

The Crutchfield research said that my car (a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt LS Coupe) required this harness if I wanted to keep the warning chimes for my car; as it turns out, my warning chimes were not connected to the factory stereo, so I could have bought a much cheaper wiring harness.

Pros: Ease of Use and Installation

Cons: None

After splicing wires, it's all plug and play. Great product that made installation of new Sony stereo in my daughters 2005 Malibu a breeze while retaining the factory information center functions..

Pros: Very cool kit that fits perfect and everything plugs into the factory plugs for easy integration of new stereo and information center.

Cons: None so far.

Not sure i needed it

Written by: Concerned from Allison Park PA on December 31, 2013

It kept the key and door functions, but I purchased it for the warning chimes and turn signal sound. Turns out I did not need it for that and had to turn off that function on the adapter.

Pros: Does what it says it will.

Cons: A little misleading on Crutchfield's part, as I did not need it for warning chimes and turn signal sounds.

Works great, maintains power when the car is shut off. That being said, I was hoping for some type of way to maintain oil change and trip mileage tracking. Not a huge deal, but I will miss the automated alerts and easy gas mileage calculations.

Pros: Install ease, maintain factory power process

Cons: Loss of mileage computing

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this in my wife's 2007 Chevy Malibu Maxx with a new Alpine CDA-
9884. This had to be integrated with the harness for the Metra OEM dash
adaptor that has wiring for both the HU and the computer. Had to pull a
few pins from the harness included with the PAC and pushed them into the
one that came with the Metra, also I had to splice a few lines. A little
coordination and it all came together.

Functionaly, the car chimes on its own, so I disabled that. Other than that,
the unit stays powered when the car is turned off, until the drivers door is
opened. Just like its supposed to. Im not sure it was worth the price, but its certianly not a bad thing.

Features

Overview: The PAC C2R-GM11b GMLAN Warning Chime and Radio Replacement Interface allows easy connection of an aftermarket stereo in select General Motors vehicles without Onstar; please see "Outfit My Car" to confirm compatibility. This interface provides connections for the new radio's power, illumination, and speaker leads. With the C2R-GM11b, the new radio will replicate all factory chimes and audible turn signals. It also provides a data bus generated 12 volt accessory output, so the factory RAP system remains intact (Retained Accessory Power, RAP, keeps the radio powered after the key is removed from the ignition until the driver's door is opened, or ten minutes passes, whichever comes first).

Compatibility: The C2R-GM11b Radio Replacement Interface for GMLAN 11-bit vehicles without Onstar is compatible with the following GM vehicles with or without a factory amplifier:

  • Pontiac: 2005-2009 G6
  • Chevrolet: 2005-2006 Cobalt, 2004-2008 Malibu (2008 Malibu Classic only), 2004-2007 Malibu Maxx

Steering Wheel Controls: If your vehicle has steering wheel controls (and the aftermarket radio is compatible) they can be integrated using the optional PAC SWI-RC or the SWI-CP5 steering wheel control interface (sold separately).
