Our take on the PAC GMRVD Rear Seat Entertainment Cable

by Ken Nail

This PAC GMRVD adapter lets you continue to use the factory-installed rear-seat LCD screen in select 2007-up General Motors vehicles when you replace the factory radio with an aftermarket DVD receiver. The GMRVD also enables you to add LCD monitors and infrared headphones to the factory entertainment system in these select vehicles, so everybody gets their own screen. Warranty: 1 year.

Important note: This adapter must be used in conjunction with the adapter that's required to install a new stereo in your GM vehicle (see Details). Please enter your vehicle information or call a Sales Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 to find out if this model is compatible with your vehicle.

Overview: The PAC GMRVD provides an audio/video signal output from a factory radio to an aftermarket monitor in select GM vehicles. Also for use with many of PAC's GM radio replacement interfaces (sold separately) to replace a factory radio and retain the overhead Panasonic LCD monitor and IR system

  • Adding Aftermarket Monitors: The GMRVD allows aftermarket monitors and IR headphones to be connected to the factory entertainment system. The GMRVD connects behind the factory radio.
  • Factory Overhead LCD Retention: The GMRVD can also be used when the GM factory radio is replaced in order to route the audio/video signals of the new aftermarket head unit to the OEM overhead LCD and IR headphones. The audio/video inputs located in the rear of the center console are also terminated as RCA jacks behind the radio at this connector.

Easy, Plug and Play

Written By Niko, Kapolei, HI on Thursday, June 05, 2014
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
When upgrading to an aftermarket DVD deck in my Tahoe, I thought I would definitely lose the usage of the stock rear monitor. I was told about this wiring harness that enables you to keep the Panasonic screen.

I ordered and harness came within two days with FREE SHIPPING to HAWAII!! Installed over weekend and took only minutes. It is basically plugging A/V plugs into aftermarket deck and plugging harness to existing for the rear screen unit.

A MUST for those who want to retain the usage of the rear screen. My kids LOVE it and are happy.
So simple, pretty much anyone could install.

Mission accomplished! Rear DVD/headphones on

Written By Tyler, San Diego, CA on Friday, June 19, 2009
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
This part was installed in a 2008 Cadillac Escalade. This vehicle started with the
AM/FM/CD/DVD player in dash with no navigation. In essence, the rear DVD
player was just a monitor with integrated IR headphones.

I installed a Kenwood DNX6140 in this vehicle which has dual output capability.
After installing the new head unit and the factory adaptors the rear DVD screen
would get power, but no picture/no IR headphones.

The awesome team at Crutchfield (huge props to Grant!) found this new part
and sent it to me. It works great. The rear monitor is now working as are the

Two important notes for this part. The first is that I only used one of the two
output connections on this part. You could use this same part to control to rear
monitors instead of one. Secondly, This part allows you to retain the rear
console inputs IF your head unit has enough aux inputs. I was not able to
retain the rear aux inputs as there wasn't another AV/Audio input available on
the head unit. Be sure to check your head unit out to ensure it will have
enough inputs if you want to retain the rear console inputs.

Lastly, the 4 out of 5 stars is due only to the limited instructions that come
with the part. PAC does a great job but better illustrations and instructions
would have helped.

After plugging this in I don't get a picture on rear screen? Is it possible something isn't hooked up? [ Jermaine  Apr 08, 2014 ]
