This PAC iPod adapter sends the music signal from your iPod to select Pioneer car stereos. You get the best possible sound from your playlists, and your iPod gets a fully charged battery. Your iPod stays powered up while connected, so you'll use the iPod's controls to select your tunes.

The adapter cable works with any dockable iPod. Your Pioneer car stereo must have a bus connection for optional equipment, like a CD changer or satellite radio. It also includes a 3.5mm miniplug audio cable for connecting other brands of portable MP3 players, or other portable audio device. Warranty: 1 year.

Note: This adapter does NOT provide control of the iPod from the stereo's faceplate and song titles are not transferred to the stereo's display. If you prefer to have those features, Pioneer offers an iPod control interface, the CD-IB100ii, which works with many recent Pioneer stereos with CD changer controls.

Compatibility Note: Be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this iPod adapter.

Why would I need an iPod® adapter?

An iPod adapter allows you to connect your iPod to your car stereo, then access your playlists with your stereo's controls - a great idea for several reasons. One, you can scroll through your song titles on your stereo's larger display, instead of squinting down at your iPod. Two, you can route the adapter cable to your glove compartment or center console, so your iPod stays safely out of sight. Three, the iPod adapter keeps your iPod fully charged, so it's ready to rock when you leave your car. And last of all, some adapters bypass your iPod's internal digital-to-analog converter, using your stereo's superior DAC to turn your files back into music.

Features

Overview: The iC-PIOP allows you to connect select Apple iPods or other external portable audio sources to any Pioneer IP-Bus head unit. It has an iPod dock connector on one end, along with a female stereo RCA input and male mini-jack connector on the same end; and an IP-Bus plug, power, and ground wires on the other. The cable will also power the iPod and charge the battery. This adapter does not allow control of the iPod by the Pioneer head unit, nor does it transfer artist/song text information to the Pioneer display. The stereo RCA jacks and mini-jack connector allow you to connect an external portable audio source to your your compatible pioneer head unit (only one can be used). The iC-PIOP plugs into the CD changer port on the head unit, so it cannot be used in conjunction with a changer.

iPod Compatibility: The PAC iC-PIOP is "Made for iPod/iPhone" compatible and supports the following iPod/iPhone model features when connected to a compatible iP-Bus Pioneer head unit (as of Oct. 2011):

Note: Apple iPod/iPhone software updates may change functionality results. If you download a newer software version, you may need to reset the aftermarket radio and your iPod/iPhone to regain functionality. If this doesn't work, you may need to revert to the older software version or wait until an newer software update is available.

Best money I've spent in a while

I have a Pioneer Premier older model cd player. I love the multi color display and the sound it puts out in my car and didn't want to part with it just to get a newer cd player with an ipod connection. I looked for a while and found this item and simply love it. I paid someone $20 to install ( only because I don't have the time away from work) and it was installed within minutes. It puts out great sound and charges my ipod at the same time. I love it and would recommend it to anyone that just wants an ipod adapter.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I read many of these reviews on this product before I purchased and agree that installation
is simple. Red wire to constant (Yellow on my radio harness) Black wire to ground or black
on harness. The other cables included looked confusing in picture but are RCA hookups,
and mini plug both included for playing other than i-pod devices. I tucked them behind dash.
The hardest part of the install was deciding where to route the i-pod cable. For right now it's
in the glove box until i need it. The sound quality is excellent. Much better than a simple aux
plug on newer radios.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The product fits and works as described. My teenage daughter had to help turn on the stereo's Aux settings, once we did it works perfectly.

My only complaint is that the volume settings have to be turned up a lot higher for it to work with my iPod; then it does for the radio.

Very simple to install in my 98 Chevy Silverado. Now if I could only find one of these for my 99 Suburbans factory stereo.

Saved Me From Buying A New Stereo

Written By JJ Bad, Suisun, CA. on Friday, October 01, 2010

My wife actually found this for me. I had told her my problem about not being able to connect my iPod Touch or my new Droid X to my car stereo and she Googled away until she came across this connector. This connector allowed me to easily connect to my very old Pioneer car stereo. When I originally pulled out my car stereo to see if there was a "aux jack" I was pretty upset to just see some weird 9 pin connector back there. After finding this product I realized how important that connector was.

This thing is super easy to install. Luckily I still had the "keys" to remove my car stereo from the dash. All I had to do was pull it out and plug in the connector and route the connectors nice and cleanly out of the way so they looked nice and were accessible. The next thing I had to do was find one of the reviews on this page which showed me how to turn the "Aux" setting on so my deck would see my iPod or Droid when plugged in.

Now while driving I can connect my phone to the car and stream Pandora all the way to work and when I get a phone call I hear the phone conversation over the car stereo speakers and I use the microphone on the phone to talk just like a modern car. This has totally made my old 98' Ford Truck into a modern system with just this one simple PAC connector.

This is the best $ I have ever spent and Crutchfield was the one that had it. Great job Crutchfield! ;o)

PAC iPod® Adapter for Pioneer

Written By SeanO, Norfolk,VA on Monday, September 13, 2010

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I recently purchased the PAC Ipod adapter for my old pioneer deh-p470mp model. There were no installation instructions, but the installation is simple and straightforward with just a positive and negative lead. At first, I could not figure out how to play the ipod. I later read the reviews and realized I had to turn the Auxiliary on. I still was unable to play my ipod. After messing around with the Ipod and pressing play on the Ipod. I heard music from the Ipod playing with great sound quality. Now I understand what they meant when it stated that you can not control the Ipod from the faceplate. As embarrassing as it is to type this, I hope I can at least help out one person. I am glad I purchased the PAC adapter and highly recommend this product for anyone with an older Pioneer model. Crutchfield delivered this product to my house within three days.

Straightforward install. Works great and would highly recommend. No instructions but
leads are labeled and it helps if you saved the original Pioneer install diagram so you
can grab the +12VDC and ground leads from the harness.

No directions but easy to hook up

Written By Jeffro, Manassas, VA on Saturday, August 21, 2010

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This cable works very well with my itough. It didn't come with directions but red and black are pretty simple to splice into my harness. I wish it didn't have the "extra" hook ups. They make the harness a bit large, put I tied them up behind the dash and the icable is long enough by itself for a clean installation. The sound quality is very good compared to the headphone jack and it charges the unit.

Extremely Happy

Written By Terrance, Phoenix, AZ on Tuesday, August 17, 2010

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am extremely impressed with this product. Installation was a breeze. The settings on the Pioneer stereo were a breeze. Because I use the Auxilary port on the deck, I have the system tuned to my iPod for optimum sound. These setting are completely different from the CD player or the Tuner. I plug it in, press play and go. In my area there are a lot of radio stations and I travel to other metro areas about twice a week. Using an FM adapter just is not an option. This was also less than half the price. The other inputs also work well. I was able to plug in and use my daughter's MP3 player with the 3.5mm jack. I would deifnately recommend this product to my friends.

Works with I-Pod and I-Phone

Written By Anonymous, PA on Thursday, June 10, 2010

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Got it in 2 days with standard shipping. Excellent accesory that allows me to play and charge both my 3 year old I-Pod and my newer I-Phone. When you plug in the I-Phone you get a message that the device was not designed for it but it still works anyway. Now I can play Pandora radio thru my stereo and all my cds on my I-Pod. Sounds great.

Install was simple but it took me an hour because of the location of my older Pioneer DEH-3700 head unit on my boat. Read one of the other reviewers comments about turning on the AUX function which was right on, because its not an intuitive process. Was thinking about getting a new head unit but now I don't have to. Highly recommend this product.

Digital input is awesome

Written By Benny, Kansas City, MO on Tuesday, June 08, 2010

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This product works awesome. Easy to install as it fits directly into the back
of my Pioneer DEH-P5200 (as advertised). I connected the red wire to the
accessory wire of the CD player so it only charges when the CD player is on (so
I don't drain my battery). Connected the ground with my CD player ground.

Plugged my iPod mini in (2nd gen) and it started playing over the AUX input with
SUPER CLARITY and NO STATIC. What a godsend! I am very pleased with this
product.

Fantastic! I just put this in today, and hooked up the 'ol iPod, and... NOTHING. So I called the tech support line, and they immediately knew why, talked me through turning on the AUX on the stereo in about 90 seconds, and BINGO... iPod playing through the stereo. AWESOME. Thank you Crutchfield, and whoever the genius is that invented this spiffy cable... it ROCKS! :D

FANTASIC!!!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have a Pioneer DEH-P4400, a really great sounding, powerful head unit. I bought it and my 6-speaker/amp system from Crutchfield in about 2001 or so, before all this iPod stuff came about. I got tired of having 100 CD's in the car and I really didn't want to buy a new head unit that is iPod ready, in comes the PAC adapter harness.
Took me about 10 minutes to install; plug in the IP-Bus, run the fused HOT to my switched power and then the ground. I have the latest 5th Gen Nano, bought about 3 weeks ago. It plays great and the battery DOES get charged through the harness, I'm not sure why some people got the "unable to charge" message on theirs. Believe it or not, music sounds better coming out of th ipod and harness than standard CD's do, probably because of the ipod's on-board EQ coupled with the head-unit's standard 3-band and parametric EQ's. This harness (and other's like it) are the best thing since sliced bread.

Works great

Written By RJPar, McHenry, IL on Friday, December 25, 2009

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Not too hard to install, once you find which wires are which on the harness.
I get the message that it won't support charging. I would have given it 5 stars if it would charge, but oh well.
Cables are decent length - long enough to put it right where I wanted it.
Having 2 jacks is great - I have a Nano and my daughter has my old shuffle so when she wants to listen to her music, it's not a problem to switch.
I was going to buy a new receiver so I could listen to my Nano, but now I don't have to.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just what the doctor ordered. Needed an inexpensive way to listen to my ipod nano on my old pioneer receiver, and this harness fits the bill perfectly. This type of harness does not charge my third gen ipod, but that is no big deal. Had a friend in the auto repair business help me install it, and we had it up and running in less than 15 minutes. Only improvement would be to include a quick attaching connection of some type in order to tie into the hot wire. Overall, a great product.

Quality, Thoughtful Design

Written By Steve, Knoxville, TN on Monday, May 18, 2009

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Nice to be able to use my iPod with my older Pioneer tuner.

The harness seems well-made and has a quality feel.

It would be useful if the leads to the iPod and RCA jacks were longer. It also seems that leaving the iPod connected lowers the output level possible from the RCA jacks. Disconnecting the iPod solves this problem.

Awesome way to connect your iPod

Written By Wendell, Phoenix, AZ on Friday, May 08, 2009

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Got the PAC iPod adapter earlier than expected! WEEEEE! I'm not very
electronically inclined or handy at all but it only took me about 10 mins to
hook it all up.
But it took me an additional half an hour to figure out how to turn the AUX
on my Pioneer DEH-P4800MP. Called tech support at Crutchfield and got
put on hold for about 10 mins. Meanwhile I kept playing with all the
buttons on my Pioneer and amazingly enough I stumbled into it and got to
turn the AUX "ON".
Once I got it turned on, I played with the system and took a little drive to
see if I would here any hizzzing noise or buzzing sounds. None detected
and Happy to announce that all is well. Good luck and enjoy!

Cables are a good choice to play your ipod in your car. it comes with a mini female plug so you can basically plug anything into it. it also will charge your ipod with the ipod cable. BUT i am having a problem with a background noise like a hissing when i use the ipod cable. i might have my wires too close to a power source and is going through the insulation and into my speakers. but when i use the mini plug, i dont get any distortion at all. i will have to move cables to see if that is the problem. if not i know crutchfield will help me (hopefully!)

Hands down best service you can find. All you have to do is ask and the service team will get back to you with an answer. Discovered this cable would fit my old Pioneer CD player so I purchased even when it was back ordered. Arrived about 6 days before ETA and installed very easily (10-15mins) and is exactly what I was looking for.

The cable gives enough length in order to run it so no wires are visible. Most importrantly, it charges the Ipod. It also turns off when you turn your car off so your car battery won't die. Sound quality is still great. I am very pleased with the cable and will continue to use Crutchfield for all of my electronics.

Installation was a snap. I put one in a 1998 Dodge Durango and one in a 2001 Jeep Cherokee, both with aftermarket Pioneers. They both sound great. I get a "no charge for the battery" message when we plug in my wife's new Nano. It would be nice to have it charge, but she doesn't make long trips so it is not a big deal.

Works very good. Charges my first-gen iPod Touch while playing music through my Pioneer Premier DEH-P740MP head unit. I had some issues with engine noise coming through the docking connector, but Crutchfield support pointed out that I should have the iPod adapter ground to the same location as my stereo head unit. After moving the ground, the sound is perfect and no problems.

Good Sound, Recommend if you like controling your iPod directly.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Sounds great with my pioneer DEH-3700. Installation was a breeze, just splice into the Ignition as others have said if you want it to turn off when you turn off the car. Tested with a 1st gen Ipod Nano, everything works fine.

----------------

The only problem I had was with my radio. If you happen to have the same pioneer model as me, you will have to ENABLE the AUX in, which is off by default and by the way..isn't listed in the manual for my version.

1. Turn the Radio Off (via the Source button)
2. Hold down the function key (the tiny one far to the right)
3. Continue to hold till the clock starts flashing.
4. Release and press Function once again and AUX will appear
5. Toggle the D-pad upwards to change the AUX mode to On.

All around great adapter. Charges my ipod nano 3gen while getting great
sound. Its long enough I could plug it in to the radio and route it through
the space beneath the steering column, down around where the pedals
are, and have more than enough cord to float around...easily reaches the
passenger seat. I had one question about splicing the wires into my radio
and crutchfield answered it perfectly with just a quick phone call. Definitely
5 stars all around.

Sounds Great, no charge

Written By Anonymous, Atlanta, GA on Wednesday, October 08, 2008

WILL NOT CHARGE IPHONE 3G! OR NEW IPODS.

This cable provides a 12 volt signal which Apple has removed, now only
supporting 5v signals.

Otherwise, I LOVE this cable. It sounds awesome hooked up to my pioneer
deck with zero loss whatsoever. If you don't care about a charging, get this!

Hooked this bad boy up in my 91 Caprice with my Pioneer P77dh, easy hook up to the wiring harness, ran the cable into my glove box, turned on the Aux on the headunit, and BAM! I have ipod in my Caprice! Works great, sounds excellent, wish I did this to my Alpine before I sold it for a new headunit! haha, live and learn!

Excellent product, ipod sounds great, I put it on random and enjoy!

Doesn't display any ipod info on headunit display and you can't control the ipod, but you really don't need to, it works great!

adapter for pioneer deh-p3300 hu

Written By pilato1, mass on Thursday, August 07, 2008

purchased this for my pioneer deh-p3300,, install was very easy and it worked great with my i-touch,,the reason for the 4 stars is because it seems there is a manufacturing problem with this cable,, like many others that purchased this i also had a problem with the wire being frayed and cutting in and out the right side speakers,,this seems to be a very common problem with this cable,,,other than that this puts to shame the fm transmitter i was using,,, since i hooked it up to the aux on the hu the sound output is "awesome",,,

Not compatible with iPhone 3G

Written By Martin, Falls Church, VA on Tuesday, August 05, 2008

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I gave this a neutral rating because it works for an iPod but not for the iPhone 3G. It would not charge nor play music from my iPhone 3G, but it worked fine with an iPod nano.

Apple changed the way the 3G iPhone can be charged, so this cable, along with lots of other chargers and adapters that work with the previous iPhone and iPods, does not work. Hopefully PAC and/or others will update their products to support Apple's new spec.

A No Brainer

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I-pods users !!!!! This product is great for older Pioneer radios. I
have a Pioneer DEP-p7700mp and considered getting the CD-RB10(20) to
play my I-pod. Looked at the reviews about them and the slow
response through the radios controls and limited scan features.

Searched around so more and found this product.

It took ONLY 10 minutes to install in my Jeep Sahara. Hooked up to
the ignition wire, grounded to existing lead, ran through the
console and started using it.

I DEFINITELY WOULD RECOMMEND FOR SOMEONE WANTING TO ADD AN
ADDITIONAL FEATURE TO THEIR IN-CAR RADIO SYSTEM. 5 stars *****

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I like the product. It works for my headunit (HU), Pioneer DEH-p6700MP. The install was easy, I already had a splice in my ACC line for my HU. I wish the ground wire was longer because I didn't have a splice for a ground, so I had to splice it into my HU's ground. But again, that was easy. The ipod pauses when I take out the keys which is great because then the ipod goes to sleep after a short time. The only other problem I've found is if I'm parked and my keys are in ACC and the ipod is on, when I start the car, the ipod pauses and I have to reach in to where it is located and press play again. Other than that, it works great.

Ordered this item almost 2 months ago, got around to installing my stereo,
a Pioneer DEH-80P, on Memorial Day. Hooked everything up, and the Ipod
would only play on the right side speakers. Called Crutchfield support and
we went through a couple of things but Alan, the tech, suggested that the
cable was bad and would ship me another one on Tuesday, being that
Monday was the holiday. The replacement cable arrived Wednesday and I
swapped them out Wed. night. Alan was correct..... the cable was bad.
New one works as it should. I give it 5 stars because it works as it should,
you get an extra mini jack to run another MP3 player, which I was able to
hide in my car, and Crutchfield customer service is second to no one!

this cable works great with my DEH-P4600MP. for those that are saying the only drawback to the cable is it keeps charging when you turn the car off. thats because you spliced the wrong wire. you should have spliced the ACC wire. i hooked mine up in less than 10 minutes. it works perfect and turns off when its supposed to also

Great cable

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just like to say that the cable works just as the manufacturer says it will. Works with all my nanos including the i-pod touch. Pretty much a breeze to install and i also like the 1/8" jack which I can use on my i-river mp3 player. And as always, read manuals, get to know the product, and wire things right. Thanks Crutchfield for the fast delivery and your knowledgable staff.

Just what I needed!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have this installed on a Pioneer DEH-P3000IB. I prefer this cable over the Pioneer cable for two reasons: One, I prefer the iPod's controls (a 3rd gen nano, in my case) over the head unit's--Apple's design can't be beat. Second, this cable comes with a mini-plug that I can use with my iPod shuffle--Pioneer's doesn't. The only reason why I docked it one star is for the installation experience. First, no manual is included. Fortunately, this being Crutchfield, one easy and friendly phone call is all it took to get moving again on the installation. See, the one advantage the Pioneer cable has over this is that it doesn't need the power wires to spliced into the harness. That's the other reason this cable loses a star. Otherwise, great cable, great sound, and it keeps the iPod charged as long as your car battery is on. In my little Honda, it's long enough to be fed through the console and out the parking brake opening--much cleaner. Also note that on my head unit, the AUX2 mode had to be activated in order for it to recognize this cable. Note to PAC: you might want to include a manual (even a simple one-pager) from now on. Many thanks to Crutchfield for saving me a headache and for offering great service!

PAC iPod® Adapter for Pioneer

Written By Nat, Washington, DC on Wednesday, February 27, 2008

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The left audio channel didn't work on the first one I received, but after a free exchange from Crutchfield my problem was resolved. I wanted to buy this unit over the Pioneer model because I find the iPod's control buttons to be superior to that of the Pionner's control. I used this with both a 2th gen iPod Nano and an iPod Touch. If I could have designed this unit I would have omitted the 1/8" plug option because I don't like how I now have an extra wire hanging out in my dashboard area (at least PAC could have made the split further back on the cable so I could stuff the unused jack behind the dash.) Four stars because the 1st unit was defective and the plastic connector that plugs into the iPod feels cheap.

The cable works as advertised. I personally like the fact that you control it through the iPod itself. It works wonders compared to my previous FM transmitter.

I have tried many fm modulators but they didnt offer the sound quality that i wanted. I am very picky when it comes to the sound quality. This cable works perfect and I am very happy with it. I would recomend this to everybody.

It Gets The Job Done

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The cable works pretty well. One thing is that I have to remove it from my case if I want to use the dock connector. Which can be bothersome at times. Normally I use the 3.5 plug, quick and easy. The main issue I have with it is that the flexor between the dock connector and the cord has to be bent and held in place in order for sound to come from the left and right speakers at the same time. Reminds me of walkman headphones plugs back in the day.
Other than that, it's ok. No more disc changer!

Control your iPod

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Get this if you want to control your iPod thru the iPod and not thru the head unit. I prefer doing it this way, the head unit may have a delay. This was an easy install, my only complaint is that the cord could be a few feet longer, but besides that, it works great.

perfect

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I just installed this into my F-150 with an aftermarket pioneer navi unit. This is EXACTLY what i was looking for. I went to several places looking for this cable and everyone kept telling me there was no such cable to direct connect and charge my iPod and still use my controls from my iPod. Well they were wrong. Also this cable you can plug in the 8mm jack if you have a bad habit of leaving the iPod plugged in with the charging side of the cable, that way you can leave it plugged in and it will not drain you car battery trying to keep you iPod charged constantly. GREAT PRODUCT, EASY INSTALLATION

Great iPod adapter

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This product installed fairly easily, and it provides a great connection to my iPod. The adapter charges the iPod just fine, and the audio going through my receiver is crystal-clear. The only thing to remember is you'll need to pause your iPod whenever you leave your car so the iPod will go into sleep mode.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great and inexpensive option for a direct connect to your stereo. Easy to install once you get your stereo out of the dash.

One BIG DOWNFALL to this is the fact that your Ipod will NOT turn off or pause when you switch off your car! It is very easy to forget and it will drain your battery! I took off 2 starts for that. Tech said it will keep charging as well but if you hook it up to your Acc power instead of direct to battery this won't be an issue.

Fantastic

This adapter works as advertised, with the best possible sound I could hope for. I think it sounds better than the CD player in my head unit. You can't go wrong with this if you have a Pioneer & an iPod.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this adapter right after I got my iPod. After a quick hook up to the power and grounding, it works perfectly. However, the grounding wire is a little short. On a positive note, the sound is great with no loss and the cord is extra long and reaches to the back seats. Highly recommend this!

Works great, no issues.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I ended up getting this instead of the other adapter (the one that sends the song info to your stereo and controls the ipod through the stereo), mainly because with this one you can watch video's or podcasts when plugged in as well (I also like controlling the ipod with the ipod...), you have full control of the ipod. It would be nice if this sent song info but I guess right now I cant have the best of both worlds. See I need to be able to watch videos on the ipod while in the car because I sit for long periods of time (im an investigator).
This cable charges while plugged in and is a snap to install, just plug in and attached power and ground to wire harness on back of radio (about 10 minutes). Sound quality is great. Cable length is good and appears to be good quality and thick.
I'm happy with the purchase and the price isn't too bad.

Pro's: Good sound; easy install; simultaneous charge.
Con's: Wish it sent song info (but it clearly states this one doesnt); nothing other than that.

Great interface for radios with a basic display

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Hooked it up to my Pioneer DEH-P3700MP and it works beautifully. Hook up a power, ground and plug in the connector where the CD changer or Sat. would plug in and you're good to go. Only problem I encountered was finding out how to turn "on" the Aux input on the radio, but a quick scan thru the owners manual was all it took to get the music on my iPod pumping thru my car stereo. Thanks to the fine people at Crutchfield.
