Features

GM 29-Bit LAN Radio Replacement Interface: The PAC OS-5 allows you to replace your GM vehicle's original 29-bit LAN factory radio with an upgraded aftermarket radio. Using this interface will retain factory features such as OnStar, warning chimes, rear seat controls (RSC), factory XM Radio, and the Bose amplifier when original radio is removed. The OS-5 also provides data bus driven outputs such as retained accessory power (RAP), vehicle speed sensor (VSS), illumination, reverse trigger, and parking brake.

Compatibility: The OS-5 is compatible with the following General Motors vehicles with factory 29-bit LAN radios (as of 9/23/2014):

Model Make Year
Buick Enclave 2007-2014
Lucerne 2006-2011
Cadillac Escalade 2007-2014
DTS 2006-2010
SRX 2007-2009
Chevrolet Avalanche 2007-2013
Equinox 2007-2009
Express 2008-2013
Impala 2006-2013
Monte Carlo 2006-2007
Silverado 2007-2014
Suburban 2007-2014
Tahoe 2007-2014

Retained Features: The PAC OS-5 radio replacement interface retains the following factory features.

  • OnStar: The OS-5 retains your vehicle's factory OnStar system. It allows audio from the OnStar system to play through the vehicle's two front speakers when OnStar is active, and mutes the output of your new aftermarket radio. OnStar volume control can still be done through your factory steering wheel controls.
  • Bose Amplifier: The PAC radio replacement interface lets you retain your vehicle's factory Bose amplifier. Standard Bose amplifiers will continue to fade front to rear. Due to the design of Premium Bose amplifier systems, there is currently no way of fading from front to rear with an aftermarket radio. This interface also works with non-amplified factory radios.
  • XM Satellite Tuner: The OS-5 will retain the factory XM satellite radio tuner if your vehicle is equipped with steering wheel controls and a driver information center; your aftermarket head unit must also be equipped with a rear-panel Aux input.
  • Rear Seat Controls (RSC): The OS-5 lets you continue to use your factory rear seat controls for your newly installed aftermarket head unit.
  • Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE): In conjunction with the GMRSAV RSE retention harness (120GMRSAV, sold separately) the OS-5 retains your vehicle's factory rear seat entertainment system.
  • Retained Accessory Power (RAP): Your aftermarket head unit will continue to operate with the vehicle's RAP (Retained Accessory Power) system. The aftermarket radio will stay on after the vehicle's key is turned off and then stays on for approximately 10 minutes or until a door is opened.
  • Warning Chimes: The vehicle's factory warning & parking assist chimes are also fully retained. External chime module included.

OEM Steering Wheel Control Compatible (optional): The OS-5 features a right-angle 3.5mm connector that lets you keep your vehicle's OEM steering wheel controls via the optional PAC Steering Wheel Control Interface (541SWIRC, sold separately).

Navigation Outputs: The OS-5 provides a VSS (vehicle speed sense), Parking Brake, and a Reverse Gear output to make installing an aftermarket Navigation radio simpler and less time consuming.

Wiring Connection Chart: The included harness features the following wires which will need to be hardwired (solder or crimped) to your aftermarket head unit's wiring harness.

Customer Q&A

Q
Will this kit retain the Back-up proximity sensors? I have a 2010 Sierra and my current kit (Axxess GMOS-LAN-012) doesn't change speed of the warning tone with how close I am to the item behind me, and this is a desired feature that I've been disappointed without.

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory features. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

Q
I was wondering if this can be used to bypass the factory amp.? and draw power from the one i installed in my truck?
jacob  Sep 15, 2016

A
No. This is so you dont have to cut any wires to install an aftermarket stereo. You have to run new wires from your new amp to the speakers.
james  Sep 16, 2016
A
I'm sorry, I don't know the answer to that one . My truck didn't have a factory amp. I also had it professionally installed, so I didn't see how he did anything.
james k  Sep 16, 2016
A
No that adapter is used to retain the factory amp and retain factory chineses and stuff like that.
tom  Sep 16, 2016
Q
is this also a wiring harness or do you need to purchase separately?
chris  May 12, 2016

A
That harness is the one that connects to the truck side and requires no cutting or splicing. Then you wire the harness that come with the radio to it
casey  May 13, 2016
A
This has everything you need to hook up an aftermarket head unit. The only problem I had was my onstar won't work. But I don't use it anyway
scott  May 13, 2016
A
It's everything you need. Most of it is plug and go besides your speaker wire connections and if you have anything going to an amp. You'll have to crimp those together yourself.
corde  May 13, 2016
A
It's all in one.
james  May 13, 2016
Q
Will this also work for the steering wheel controls?
marisa  Mar 07, 2016
1 answer
A
The Steering Wheel Control Adapter is a separate module. You can view it on the website here: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_541SWIRC/PAC-SWI-RC-Steering-Wheel-Control-Adapter.html?tp=3405 The ability to retain steering wheel controls with aftermarket receivers will be determined by the receiver you are using and the vehicle you have. For full information on this type of integration (including the parts you will need) please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.
