Overview

Our take on the Pioneer DEH-2200UB

Sleek, stylish, and ever so capable, Pioneer's DEH-2200UB CD receiver will improve your car's sound and allow you to you enjoy all your digital media.

Sleek, stylish, and ever so capable, Pioneer's DEH-2200UB CD receiver will improve your car's sound and allow you to you enjoy all your digital media.

The large control knob is positioned on the driver's side, flanked by a series of easy-to-reach buttons, so you won't have to drill down through the receiver's menus each time you want to make an adjustment. On the passenger side, a bright 10-digit display puts system and song info in easy view. And a handy remote gives your rear seat passengers the ability to run the show.

Plug your iPod® or thumb drive into the front-panel USB input and you'll have thousands of songs on tap for daily drives or road trips. You can also connect a plug-and-play satellite radio or another audio source to the handy front-panel auxiliary input. And don't forget your CDs — the receiver plays your favorite store-bought or home-burned CDs, including discs loaded with MP3 or WMA files.

Audio performance will take a jump when Pioneer's powerful MOSFET amplifier fills your car with sound, and you can use the 3-band equalizer to tweak the lows, mids, and highs. All your digital music will sound great, too — Pioneer's Advanced Sound Retriever technology reverses the effects of compression to improve the sound of your music files.

Note: If you're going to use your iPod with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this receiver or its optional iPod adapter.

Coolness Factor - LOL, That just goes along with what I am about to say. Being almost 40 years old I don't care if the display is green or red, or how cool the face looks. I want to be able to set the clock without pulling out the 75 page manual. I can't stand the Multi Control / Function buttons, one button that does 17 different things depending on your mood ring settings, LOL. You have to take your eyes off the road to work this darn thing, and it treats CD music differently than USB music differently than iPod, differently than Blackberry music, so if you only listen to one media you will like it, but if you go between media it will drive you bunkers.

Pros: plays CDs, MP3s, USB, iPod, iPhone, and Blackberry

Cons: not user friendly, no idea what the buttons do, and I can't remember the 75 page manual

    So easy to install

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Crutchfield makes the installation process relatively painless. It's probably the closest thing to 'plug and play' that you'll find anywhere. As far as quality of the receiver is concerned...you can't beat the price for the features it has. Besides the fact that it plays MP3s (that allows me to have roughly four hours of music on a single disc), it also gives me the opportunity to use a jump drive (USB drive) to record even more!!! The sound quality isn't the greatest but it sure as heck beats the old factory installed, hands down. Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase and all of the extras I received. I compared prices with that big named store, and even with my 10% discount, Crutchfield still had them beat. I wouldn't hesitate to order from them (Crutchfield) again.

    Nice Radio for the price

Written by: CJS from Colorado SPrings, co on May 7, 2011

The radio was a great product for the price and Crutchfield's instructions made it super simple to instal. The only thing is the settings on the radio for bass, set time is confusing and takes a lil getting use too. Overall for price great radio. Have I seen better yes.

The stereo is not at all user friendly. It has multi-function pushbuttons that require memorizing several procedures. The instruction manual is confusing and uses too many abreviations. I still haven't figured out how to adjust bass and treble, I can't find those words in the instructions or anywhere else. The installation kit is very flimsy. When I push the buttons the entire unit deflects. I can see the unit move whenever I go over a bump.

Sound quality is very good. Two things, however: Set aside some time for programming. The instructions are not very clear but with a little patience are decipherable. And most importantly, determine whether the blue and white wire in the radio plug (the only wire marked with a tag) is used in your application. In our Subaru, this wire went to the antenna amplifier. I got to do the installation twice because I didn't hook that up the first time.

i chose this stereo because my Jensen stereo went out and needed a new one ASAP. I wasn't really concerned with features so much, as I just needed a solid product that wouldn't disappoint. As always, Pioneer delivers. There are no fancy bells or whistles on this model, but you get what you pay for, or more! I really like the fact that there is an iPod control built in with a USB port right on the front. I would certainly recommend this product.

This is the first time I ever installed a car stereo and the kit and harness given by Crutchfield made it very easy to install. I ended up returing in exchange for a JVC unit because: - poor radio reception in my particular car (a Volvo Wagon which has two antennas (called diversity) and only one can be attached to an aftermarket receiver). Hoping that the JVC will have better reception. - not happy with the user interface - akward to use and not straight forward - small tiny buttons.

Easy to install, works great for the price. As others had indicated, the buttons are small so if you have bigger than average fingers you might not want this unit. Use is not intuitive out of the box. I had to go thru the instructions a couple times to figure out how to work certain functions. I wanted the green lighting to match my existing dash lights, be aware that the green is a little more neon than your dash is, so not a great match, but better than the red; plus, the main display is white so this takes away from the "it's a stock radio look" that I was after, but not a real biggie...

This stereo is really attractive, has every feature imaginable, and sounds great even with just factory installed speakers! It was easy to install and works like a charm! The only issue I have with it is, it is a little hard to figure out where all the buttons are because they are difficult to read in the daylight. At night it's much easier since they are backlit but I don't drive my car at night as often so it's been a bit of a learning curve. Otherwise, it's a great piece! I changed my backlight from red to green and I LOVE it! Thanks!

The DEH-2200UB works great and sounds good. Installation was a snap, thanks to Crutchfield instructions and kit. My only minor criticism is that the buttons are tiny, making the icons illegible, but I will have them memorized by feel before too long, based on previous experience. All in all, a great value. This was my first Crutchfield purchase, and they are top-notch for customer service, efficiency, courtesy, and value. In the words of The Governator, "I'll be back."

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a cool unit and I do not want to sour grape it and give it a 1 star but I was really bummed to go through all the ordering, installation, and that first excitement of firing it up and then have that smashed when I realized I cannot control the iPod (5th generation - 30gb) with the iPod itself. I have a DEH2100IB in another car and that one will let me press the 'IPod' button and control the iPod directly from the iPod. This might not be an important feature for you but it is huge for me. Controlling it through the unit is like looking at a flat screen tv through a soda straw. A big pain. It is just too clunky, slow, not enough info on the little unit screen, etc. It especially matters for passengers that know how to control the iPod but have no idea about the counter intuitive interface on the Pioneer unit. I have searched for a firmware update or something and written Pioneer but am out of luck and have to return the unit and get another model. :( There goes an installation afternoon wasted. I would also say that the fm station buttons and other control buttons are too dang small. I also wish the MC (large volume) knob stuck out further and had a more rubberized feel. The important iPod fact is NOT included in the description. I did not even know what 'generation' my iPod was so check! And if you have a fifth gen or Nano DO NOT BUY this unit!!!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've put a Pioneer deck in every car I've owned and have never been disappointed. No exception here. The 2200UB is a basic head unit plus a USB port and an AUX in. With no bells or whistles, it is very easy to operate. If searching through USB audio files by name is important to you, you'll be better off getting something with a bigger display as the 10 character LCD makes info display cumbersome. The button and knob placement is excellent, so the likelihood of errant presses is low (even with big fingers like mine). The only thing keeping me issuing a 5-star rating is the face release mechanism. It takes a little wiggling to get the face in and out, and I don't recall the mechanism being this sloppy on my previous Pioneer equipment.

Everything is included in the box ( except solder and shrink wrap) Instructions are easy to read and follow. It took longer to solder the wires together than it did to install the unit. In less than an hour it was up and playing. The Pioneer receiver works and sounds great. All for a great price. I give Crutchfield 2 thumbs up.

The sound quality is much better the OEM unit. The difference is phenomenal. I will now listen to music a lot more in my truck. The user interface took some getting used to, but after a few days I have it figured out. A while ago, I replaced the speakers as well. I don't remember the brand and model; I did buy them from Crutchfield. The overall package is a vast improvement, making driving a lot more pleasant. Also, it plays MP3's and WMA's, features missing in the OEM unit. Installation came off without a hitch.

I went from a 2009 Chevy Traverse with everything, to a 1999 Oldsmobile Silhouette with everything you could get in 1999, including cassette and VCR. We listen to my iPod all the time, so I thought this would work for me. And, it did! I was able to follow the instructions and put the radio in by myself since my husband was working out of town and I didn't want to wait. The biggest trick is to remember to not make things harder than they are. I thought it should be harder than it was so it took me longer. I LOVE IT!!! The kids love the remote!

Pros: - Best deal by far. Even compared to cheaper stereo models, current deal includes all the parts you need to install (usually costs an extra $15 here for parts, and $100 to install if you have best buy or something do it). So, technically it's the cheapest. Also I found I use the USB more than anything. - Very pleased with sound quality. I'm a bit of an audiophile, and this is above par. Cons: - Somewhat difficult to operate. I wouldn't suggest trying to pick a new artist on your ipod while driving on the highway. Can't really navigate by feel. Less intuitive, but that's about it. All in all, I would still definitely recommend this.

Got this cd player from Crutchfield not too long ago. I bought (2) 5 1/4 inch Pioneer Speakers to go with it, for my truck. The Pioneer DEH 2200UB was fairly easy to use after I fiddled around with the controls for a little while. It was easier to access the features than most Pioneer Cd players that I have seen in department stores. Has nice features to enhance sound to make it louder and clear for you to hear, like SLA, bass, treble, mids, loudness. The cd player worked great, as well as the USB drive! I can't comment on the AUX feature, since I don't have a ipod or anything like that. For a truck , this and a set of (2) speakers is all you need, no additional amps needed. Overall, I am very pleased with this cd player! It can play very loud, and puts out good bass too! Crutchfield was very helpful with tech support also, thanks Crutchfield....

I am thoroughly satisfied. My only complaint, and it has been said before, is the buttons. I am not actually complaining of the size of them, although they are small. I am complaining of the lack of a clearly readable label or symbol accompanying them. When it is dark outside, you can clearly see the lit up buttons and understand them. But come sunshine, and the lights for them disappear, and your stuck with your memory, or the remote. It is not always smart to be reading a remote while watching the road. I wish there were clear symbols depicting the function of the buttons next to them. Other than that, I love it.

The unit is a replacement for the stock Ford system. Easy install, good FM, borderline AM. We live in the mountains, fairly isolated, with only distant FM and local AM The radio picks up the same stations as the stock FM, which was good. The distance for the AM doubled over the stock, but still much less than any other car radio I have. The CD and mp3 work well. For the price I would recommend it.

Good sound, even through the crappy stock speakers that came with the car. My only complaint is that the buttons are small compared to my fat fingers. The radio is easy to install, as long as you are vaguely aware as to what needs to be done. The car-specific adapter kit is a must for a clean install. I used 3M Scotchlok UY2 connectors for splicing the wires together, which made the connections a easy, quick, and corrosion-proof. You can get them at Lowes or the Depot in the electronics dept. All in all, a good buy for $100.00.

I actually asked for this as a Christmas present (one of the only things I asked for because my stock player in my car was dead).. I read a lot of reviews here, as well as other places...and I have to say - When people say it makes their stock speakers sound amazing - they aren't exaggerating. The audio can be completely fine tuned and shaped to sound crisp and clear and full just like it should. The menu is a LITTLE hard to get through but with the help of the book it's not too bad. I loaded up my 4gb thumb drive with 1.3 gigs worth of mp3s and plugged it in, and sure enough it worked perfect. Just couldn't be happier with it so far. Highly recommend! I only gave it a four star review because I'm sure there's a lot better out there...but for the money this thing is awesome.

The lighting of the buttons at night is so small that you cant see what the button is for unless you have committed them to memory. The owners manual doesn't show how to exit out of setting up the unit, just leaves you hanging after you make the adjustments. Returning this unit. Thanks to Crutchfield taking this unit for a test drive didn't cost anything but a little time.

It was easy, easy, easy!! Once I got the stereo up and running, it took me a few days to navigate usage as I am not a manual reader. I should do that since I have yet to set the clock. The sound of the stereo surpasses the stock stereo by leaps and bounds and I've decided NOT to replace the stock speakers because the sound is awesome!! Excellent stereo. If you are looking for a display that will show you everything about the MP3 title, without cutting off, get a more expensive unit. Even though you can only display the first 10 characters of your File/track name, it is enough to let me know what track is playing if I even care about it. It suits my needs perfectly for the price I wanted to pay. Obviously everyone wants the best, but it is not always in reach. This stereo also made my stock speakers sound really good. Im in love with this thing allready. I have about 45G worth of music at my finger tips, just on a few 16G SD cards via USB port. Awesome response time between USB drive and processor (click on song, plays it almost instantly).

I researched head units with a list of desired features and this one stood out. I soldered my Crutchfield Subaru harness to the Pioneer wiring harness and sealed the joints with shrink wrap tubing. For my Impreza, all the wire insulation colors of both harnesses were a perfect match. I did not need the blue/white wire (for power antennae) and screwed the Pioneer ground to the car's DIN mounting plate, instead of the black ground wire from the supplied Subaru harness, and it works great. The sound improvement over the stock HU is incredible, even with stock speakers and OEM subwoofer. The unit's loudness and EQ settings are great. I use the USB connection all the time with a flash drive, that was a major selling point for me. The random play feature works absolutely fine. I don't mind the small operating buttons because I have slim fingers! All in all, I'm very happy with this unit for the price and it does what I want it to do.

Since money is tight everywhere, I wasn't about to waste money on a stereo. If I'm going to spend some cash, it had better be a good, solid stereo with plenty of "extras". I looked for about 2 weeks for an affordable stereo to replace my factory one, and decided on this Pioneer. Great decision! The sound from my factory speakers is awesome! I just wonder how great it will sound once I replace the factory speakers... The USB port is really handy. Just throw some songs on a jump drive, plug it in, and go! Plus, when you take the jump drive out and plug it back in later, it goes directly to where you left off! Oh yeah, and you can plug in your iPod using the aux port. What's not to love? I'd never installed a car stereo before, and installation was easy. I had to call tech support simply for some guidance, but it was a snap! As always, delivery and support are great. If you are looking for a unit that works great, has plenty of extras and doesn't cost a lot of dough, this is it. You won't regret this one. Go ahead and put it in your cart and go!

Oh, I loved the 6 changer that came with my 2003 Honda CRV EX; but it went the way of all mechanicals, seeing it was beyond economic repair, the victim of one ham-handed CD load too many, I said my solemn goodbyes to the old technology I had become so comfortable with and decided it was time to upgrade and get with the times. I kept hearing and seeing good things about the Pioneer DEH 2200UB. The last time I installed car audio was with a AM/FM Cassette player and CB on my brand new '77 Chevy Nova, but Crutchfield really made the difference in making it easy. The 2200 UB has great sound selections - there's a number of pre-set voicings, plus a "custom" setting you can set to your own preferences. My CDs sound much better than they did on the Honda unit. It also forces me to update to USB or Ipod, but who am I kidding? It was past time. Pioneer could improve this by 1) making their making their product manual more straight forward and in a larger print 2) Let the clock display WITHOUT having to hit a button 3) making the buttons larger for my fat fingers and so I can find them without reading glasses when I drive. But the looks, sound and predicted reliability of this unit was easily worth it, even more so because I was able to save at least $100 by installing if myself - and , I love the remote!

This unit is GREAT 9 (sound, quality, function), and the operation of the buttons are easy to learn. There aren't all kinds of flashy "eye candy" features. I chose this unit to install in my 70 year old mother's car when her factory unit stopped working - Normally overwhelmed and confused with new technology, she didn't have a problem learning the basic functions on this unit after I set it up. BONUS feature, in this instance - the radio preset buttons are laid out so that they are the six round buttons to the right of the volume knob. . . . No confusing menu interface to go through. I typically buy MUCH more expensive head units, but was VERY impressed with every aspect of this

Let me just begin by saying I ordered this product along with 2 sets of Kicker 07DS600 door speakers. Crutchfield's predicted arrival date was spot on. I Installed the speakers that night but simply did not have the time to put in the dash unit. I was pretty happy with the sound of the speakers alone. Two days later I went ahead with the installation of the head unit (made very simple following the instructions from Crutchfield - I was surprised these directions were correct to my car). I really appreciated that Crutchfield also sent the Wiring Harness adapter for my car (Saturn SL1 - 2002) making crimping of wires the only time consuming part of this installation. Any troubles that showed up during this process was only due to the make and model of my car.. not the unit or Crutchfield. But anyways this head unit amplified the sound of those speakers by tenfold and made the music in my car more crisp and clear than I could have ever dreamed. I notice there are some complaints about the randomize feature(basically what happens is when you click "next song button" while in random mode, the device plays the next song on the playlist... not a random one) but I can deal with it for the price. Menus are easy to navigate, great sound output, sleek and stylish look, you can't go wrong for the price.

This Pioneer radio is pretty good overall. I got it to replace my factory 2003 Civic radio so I could play my new iPod on it. The sound and settings are much better than the factory radio. There are only a few things that I don't care for: the small buttons are not reasonable for anyone over the age of 3, the backlighting is not visible when it's daylight (which makes some of the buttons unreadable), and the iPod controls take some getting used to. I highly recommend it if those things don't bother you at all.

I've put probably 15 aftermarket stereos in different cars (not all mine), and this is hands down the best one I've ever installed (I just put it in my 2001 Focus). I'm a musician and music afficionado, and I am hearing things I never heard before in songs I've been listening to for years. I almost can't wait to get into my car and drive so I can turn the stereo on. Plus I put it in at work during lunch and the guys in the warehouse were shocked that it only toook 40 minutes (I did the speakers a few days later, that took about an hour). The features are for the most part intuitive. The instruction manual is well-enough written to get you through stuff like setting the clock, tweaking the EQ, and turning the unit on and off. The rest is plug and play... literally. Plug in a flash drive or ipod? It automatically reads it and starts at the first song. Unplug your flash drive and take it with you, come back, listen to five CDs, and plug it back in? It automatically goes right back to where you left off. If you're looking for a great sounding (and looking!) stereo at a great price, stop looking and buy this one. You will NOT be sorry. And don't forget to buy new speakers with all the money you just saved.

Crutchfield, A+ as always, and this CD is player is fantastic. Very clean, simple to use, makes the stock speakers in the car sound much better, though my aftermarkets are in the mail now. Settings are simple and able to tweak things for your kind of music. One thing I would change is the sound settings are only changeable through the remote, so if you lose it, you better find a new one. The IPOD and AUX port on the front are a big plus also. I can plug in my IPOD or my phone to listen to Pandora if i need a change. Very easy setup with OEM wiring harness and kit from crutchfield. This has been one of the best purchases i have made in a while for a very simple but does everything you need it to aftermarket stero.

Excellent reciever, and by today's standards pretty easy to use. I love the front USB port for my thumbdrive, changing up playlists is easy now. The only caution I would have is for someone installing this in a later model car, you'll have 12 or so wire splices to make. If you don't know how to solder, it'll be a bigger ball of connectors. Allow plenty of time for making the splices so you have a good job when you're done. Overall, I can't believe the whole setup, including the interface I needed to purchase was only this much.

I bought it becasue I wanted a cheap cd player that had green lighting to match my car. I could switch it to red if I wanted. It fits great in my Volvo 850, I did however have to modify the dash pocket holder to fit my car tighter by cutting into the sleeve and making my own notches to push up on to hold it in the dash. I have not used the AUX input but it is conveniently there for when I purchase an ipod. I do have a complaint though. The information like song title/album/artist does not scroll across the screen so you only get like 10 digits worth of info.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Pioneer DEH-2200UB had everything I was looking for in a new stereo for my Honda Accord. Before this purchase I was playing my iPod Touch with a tape deck adapter through my stock AM/FM cassette radio. So when started looking for a new one, I wanted one that had iPod control capabilities. Being a full time student, I didn't want to spend a ton of money either. This stereo had all of the features that I was looking for and a great price as well. Installation took no time at all and it sounds great. Thanks Crutchfield

This player is great. It's easy to navigate, nice to look at, and has all the things I need to enjoy music on the road. I also enjoy the remote control it comes with. It makes it easy for me to focus on the road and hand my friend the remote and ask her to change the songs or turn up the volume. I am very satisfied with my purchase and blown away by Crutchfields' great customer service. They were there the whole time to help me install it and the directions and instructions they provided were easy too. It's hard to find good businesses like Crutchfield now-a-days. I will definitely be coming back to them for anything I need and recommending them to everyone I know. My Dad has been using Crutchfield since he was a teenager and now I'm old enough to see why. They have my loyalty for a long time to come.

This unit is great, and the navigation through the menus is a lot better than the Pioneer I bought my wife a year ago. The sound is amazing - full and easily customizable. I enjoy the small details of this unit, including the choice of red or green illumination and the easy to set clock. I would highly recommend this head unit to anyone in the market. Numerous reviews have commented on the random feature and I have not found the issue. When I am listening to a playlist (or entire library) on random and skip to the next song, it is a random song in the playlist, not the next song in my library. Perhaps Pioneer has fixed the issue, or user's iPod settings are causing the problem.

I bought this radio because the stock one in my 2000 Sentra would not play cd's. I also wanted to be able to use my iPod with the usb cable. I must say I love this radio, for the price it can't be beat. The only caveat is that the owners manual is kinda sketchy. Once you figure it out it's no problem. I installed in no time with the supplied adapters. I only deal with Crutchfield when it comes to car radios.

Great stereo. Bought a Toyota pickup with an aftermarket Sony receiver, just replaced it with this unit - I had no idea the speakers in that truck could thump like they do now. Wire connections work perfectly, install instructions were clear and helpful. For the price, well worth the minimal effort to install and the sweet crisp sound I'm getting.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've had this car stereo for just over 2 weeks and I love it! Having the USB front input and the aux input are both great. It recognizes my flash drive with mp3s so quickly. And we use the aux input with our mp3 players and my droid phone (even Pandora radio through the droid!). This stereo is well worth the money. As far as the install: Having an older vehicle (1999 CRV), there were a lot of steps to be able to get the old stereo out and the new one in. None of it was really technical, you just had to be careful to stick to the instructions. Also, I went the route of using nylon crimp caps for the wiring (I needed 2 boxes)... and borrowed a crimper. I'd recommend getting this wiring part done before messing with the vehicle. Good luck!

Good Head Unit. Installed in a BMW E36(94 325is), its simple without a lot of crazy adjustments and commands. Plug it in and turn it on and the sound is good with the factory amp and speakers. (even though the rears have disintegrated a bit). I would have liked to use the factory rear support locating pin but the threads dont match (4mm vs 5mm). not a big deal as the unit doesnt move in the bracket and seems quite solid. I hope the quality holds together for a few years.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was beyond pleased with my experience with Crutchfield when I ordered my Pioneer DEH-2200UB receiver. This was the first time doing my own install and was pleased to know Crutchfield provided me with the mounting bracket, antenna adapter and wiring harness. Another surprise was the paperwork/instructions that were provided in the package and that they were specifically for my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. With these instructions I had all I needed and did not need to call technical support. The price was amazing, especially considering all of the install pieces were included and the free shipping. As far as the actual unit goes, I only installed it a few hours ago and have not had any issues with it thus far. My main reason for replacing my stock receiver was to get a cleared signal for my iPod and Sirius radio, both of which I was using a wireless FM transmitter for. I no longer need the transmitter and am very please with the USB and AUX inputs. A great experience with Crutchfield and I will definitely be a return customer.

Good replacement for 2002 Ford Focus Mach 9006 audio. Had to search a lot to get factory amp and subwoofer adapted. Requires a bit of soldering pins to fit third plug but it works fine. Only complaint is I can't play radio with ignition turned off.. only when key is on ACC position. The old radio was hot wired to play without key in ignition. Sound is good...maybe too many choices for adjustment but that's better than too few. Good unit for the price.

Love it. Just installed it a week ago and it made my tired old 6 speaker factory system come to life. I discovered base, power, and clarity from my system that I had been missing. Love the direct USB connection for the iPod (kind of wish it wouldn't automatically start playing when I connect the cable). I'm not sure what some of the previous reviewers were talking about with the "next" feature on random play, but I have not found this to be true. Every time I push the next button on the face of the stereo it goes to the next "random" song (not of the same artist or album). The complimentary wire connection and mounting kit were very nice and easy to use with a perfect match. I have used crutchfield in the past, but it has been a long time. A very nice welcome back.

I had only bought JVC head units for the past 10 years. I've had good result and have been very satisfied with them. This time I decided to go with the Pioneer as I didn't like the styling of the JVC Arsenal HU's. The real selling point for me was the front USB port. I do like this HU, but if I'd known the Random setting was quite odd I would have picked up a different one. If the song you are listening to ends it will randomly pick a new song. If you press next it will always go to the very next song and not randomly choose a song. I've made peace with this draw back, but other than that, this is a nice HU for the money.

My main problem with pioneer products is that with any digital media (usb drive, mp3/wma/aac loaded cd) when you turn random on and you push skip forward it moves to the next song in order - not a random song. Some people like it that way - I cant stand it. The rest of this product seems very nice - clean look, and fairly easy to use. But the random thing bothered me and my wife so much I returned it and bought a kenwood that randomized correctly. If you dont care about this type of weird non random randomizing, you would probably like this receiver.

I also had to get wiring crimp sockets. All in all I'm extremely happy with this purchase. Especially since anything over 125 bucks they give you free shipping and install gear, so why get anything cheaper when it will cost the same anyway? Display Features

Detachable Face Security: This unit features Detachable Face Security. A face-fixing screw is supplied for making the face non-detachable, if desired.

Note: No face case is included with this unit. An optional soft face case (142DFC1X, sold separately) can be purchased for this unit.

LCD Display: The DEH-2200UB features a black background with a one-line, 10-character white LCD display.

Display Illumination/Clock Display: When the Clock Display has been turned on, pressing and holding the Source button turns off audio output, but the clock display remains on. When the Clock Display has been turned off, pressing and holding the source button turns the unit off completely. Even if you have turned the radio completely off you can view the clock display by pressing the clock button. The clock will then remain On until you turn it back Off. When the unit is On you can select between the clock display or the audio track/tuner display.

Switchable Button Illumination: The unit's button illumination can be set to either Red or Green to better match your vehicle's interior lighting.

    Audio Section

MOSFET Amplifier: The DEH-2200UB is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit.

CEA2006 Compliant: The power specifications for the DEH-2200UB are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers. The power output specs for the DEH-2200UB are as follows:

    • CEA2006 Specs: 14 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N)
    • Continuous Power Output: 22 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 50Hz-15kHz, 5% THD)
    • Maximum Power Output: 50 watts x 4 channels

EEQ (Easy EQ): The DEH-2200UB is equipped with a 3-band EQ with 6 preset EQ settings: Powerful, Dynamic, Vocal, Natural, Custom, and EQ Flat. The Custom band can be adjusted as follows:

    • Bass: +/- 6dB at 100 Hz
    • Mid: +/- 6dB at 1 kHz
    • Treble: +/- 6dB at 10 kHz

Loudness: The Loudness feature compensates for deficiencies in the low and high sound ranges at low volume. You can set the Loudness feature to High, Low, or Off.

Source Level Adjustment (SLA): This function lets you adjust the volume level of each source to prevent radical changes in volume when switching between sources. Settings are based on the volume level of the FM tuner, which remains unchanged. Each source can be independently adjusted from -4dB to +4dB.

2.0-Volt Preamp Output: The Pioneer DEH-2200UB features one pair of 2.0 volt preamp outputs (left/right) fixed to its rear chassis.

    Radio Functions

Supertuner IIID AM/FM Tuner: The Supertuner IIID features Feed Forward Control, which avoids multi-path interference. This pre-detection of interference enables quick filter control and results in less distortion. In addition, the Supertuner IIID creates enhanced stereo during multi-path interference, unlike conventional tuners that collapse to mono. Digital processing reduces distortion, and improves Signal-to-Noise Ratio and stereo separation. Advanced analog technology improves signal processing sensitivity.

BSM (Best Stations Memory): The BSM (Best Stations Memory) function lets you automatically store the six strongest stations under preset buttons 1-6 of the currently tuned band. The tuner has 3 FM banks and 1 AM bank. You can store 6 presets for each bank giving you a total of 18 FM presets and 6 AM presets.

Local Tuning: Local seek tuning lets you tune in only those radio stations with sufficiently strong signals for good reception. There are 4 level of sensitivity for FM and two levels for AM. The higher settings allow reception of only the strongest stations, while lower settings let you receive progressively weaker stations.

    Disc Playback

MP3/WMA/WAV Playback: This unit can play MP3, WMA and WAV files recorded on CD-ROM, CD-R, and CD-RW discs in ISO9660 Level 1/Level 2, Joliet, and Romeo formats. MP3 files with a bit rate from 8-320 kbps, WMA files with a constant bit rate from 48-320 kbps, and WMA files with a variable bit rate from 48-384 kbps are supported. The unit is compatible with ID3 Tags and will display artist, folder, file, and album name, plus comments. Up to 8 directories, 99 folders and 999 files per disc are recognized by this unit.

Note: When playing compressed audio, there is no sound during fast-forward or reverse.

Name/Track Title List: The Name List feature displays a list of MP3/WMA folders and tracks on a loaded CD or connected USB device, so you can easily access your music. Track Title List will display the list of track titles on a CD Text disc.

Sound Retriever: The Sound Retriever automatically enhances compressed audio and restores the original richness of the recording. When Sound Retriever is on, the high frequency range is compensated to match the frequency response curve to the original sound. There are two available levels of the Sound Retriever effect.

Installation Angle: Optimum CD playback performance is obtained when the unit is installed at an angle of less than 60-degrees.

    Aux/USB/iPod Connection

Auxiliary Input: The DEH-2200UB is equipped with a front panel 3.5mm stereo minijack auxiliary input for connecting external components, such as a portable MP3 player, DVD, or VCR. AUX must be turned on in the setup menu in order to be selected as a source.

Front-Panel USB Input: The unit's front-panel USB type-A input allows you to connect a USB portable audio player or USB flash memory that is USB Mass Storage Class compliant. This unit can play MP3, WMA, and/or WAV files stored on a USB Mass Storage device in FAT16 or FAT32 file system formats. Up to 8 directories, 500 folders and 15,000 files per USB device are recognized by this unit.

Note: USB portable audio players that can be charged via USB will be charged when plugged into the CD receiver's USB port and the vehicle's ignition switch is set to ACC or on.

iPod Interface: The DEH-2200UB can control and playback songs on an iPod. This unit supports select iPods with a standard Dock Connector. You can connect your iPod using the unit's front-panel USB input (a dock connector-to-USB cable, such as the one supplied with your iPod, or the optional 130CDIU50, is required). When connected via USB, you can choose to control the iPod from the head unit or the iPod itself (you can still change songs from the head unit, even when you are controlling the iPod manually.) You can perform multiple search functions, including playlist, genre, artist, or album searches. You can also select random and repeat functions for a certain song, all songs, or specific folders. The headunit will also display your iPod's music file information, including Play Time, Song Title, Artist Name, and Album Title. While connected and the ignition switch is set to ACC or ON, the USB connection will power and charge your iPod. The Pioneer DEH-2200UB is "Made for iPod/iPhone" compatible and supports the following iPod/iPhone model functions (as of Jan. 2010):
