Pioneer takes in-dash navigation to the NEX level
Pioneer's 2014 lineup of navigation receivers spotlights the NEX interface, which provides drivers with intuitive, responsive fingertip command of the action onscreen. They also offer a wealth of entertainment and integration options, including some impressive real-time, smartphone-connected navigation extras that are coming down the road.
Your multimedia command center
PIoneer's AVIC-7000NEX DVD/navigation receiver features a motorized 7" touchscreen display, allowing you to adjust the angle for the best view from your driver's seat. The NEX interface lets you choose musical sources with ease, and you can integrate your smartphone to get the most out of your travel-friendly apps. If you use a newer iPhone®, you can speak to and hear Siri® through the Pioneer without taking your eyes off the road. iPhone and Android™ smartphone users also get Pioneer's AppRadio mode for in-dash command of several important apps, while Android owners can employ MIrrorLink™ technology to navigate a car-friendly version of their phone's display right on the receiver's screen (optional interface cables required for smartphone connections).
Pioneer's innovative AppRadioLIVE streamlines your app info and functions into one easy-to-use interface. You'll enjoy quick access to your music, media, calendar, and other sources you subscribe to, just by downloading the AppRadioLIVE app and syncing your services. AppRadioLIVE works with your apps to provide visual map guidance and access to points of interest, as well as the ability to search for concerts, shows, and other local events of interest. And you can show several sources of information simultaneously, quickly shifting from one to another with a touch of your finger.
Note: AppRadio Mode and AppRadioLIVE are currently not compatible with iOS 8 due to stability and display issues. Please see "Details" for more information.
Pioneer's the first on deck with CarPlay in aftermarket car stereos. CarPlay integrates your iPhone into the driving experience in a new, seamless interface, putting iPhone content at the driver's fingertips with minimal distraction. That means easy access to your music library, your phone, messages, navigation, and many third party streaming music apps, too. Learn more at www.apple.com/ios/carplay. A firmware update is required — now available at Pioneer's website.
The AVIC-7000NEX provides reliable door-to-door guidance, with maps of the entire U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico, plus nearly 8 million searchable points of interest. A built-in traffic tuner presents timely reports on congestion along your route in most metropolitan areas, while text-to-speech voice prompts announce actual street names at turns. You'll also have 3D representations of landmarks and buildings keeping you oriented in urban areas..
Bluetooth® for calls and audio streaming
The AVIC-7000NEX lets you connect to your compatible smartphone with a wireless Bluetooth connection. You'll be able to carry on hands-free conversations using the receiver's included external microphone. And it'll work with most phones for wireless streaming audio, thanks to its advanced Hands-Free Profile technology. You'll also get smartphone app control through your devices:
iPhone: With a separate cable, you'll get control of your Aha Radio app through the receiver's touchscreen when connected. App Mode also gives you limited control over other select apps on your iPhone. You can control your iPhone's Pandora® app wirelessly with a Bluetooth connection, including station creation.
Android: You'll get control of your smartphone's Pandora (with station creation) and Aha Radio apps through Bluetooth, so no cable needed.
Hear HD Radio™ on the go
The AVIC-7000NEX also features an HD Radio tuner. You'll enjoy much-improved AM/FM sound quality when you're tuned into a local participating station, and there's no subscription required — just tune it in like a regular radio station.
Great connections, better sights and sound
The AVIC-7000NEX removes the guesswork concerning which media format you can bring on your next road trip. It's got an HDMI input for Android connectivity, plus two rear USB inputs and an SD™ card slot for your favorite digital tunes, including FLAC lossless files. This receiver will also play all your CDs and DVDs, including discs loaded with music files, while a rear A/V input offers a connection for any other audio/video sources. Pioneer's MIXTRAX technology gives your digital files unique DJ treatments with effects and nonstop blends that'll turn your car into a mobile dance party.
The high-resolution 7" WVGA screen is perfect for viewing video from DVDs or other sources when you're parked. You can tap into video content on your iPod or smartphone with the help of the correct optional cable (not included). When you're on the road, you can play movies through a rear-seat monitor for your passengers, so they can stay entertained during long road trips. Dual-zone capability lets you enjoy the radio or another audio source up front while your passengers watch their favorite movies in the back.
No matter what you're listening to, you can look forward to superb sound quality from AVIC-7000NEX, which features a fingertip swipe-enabled 13-band graphic equalizer, plus built-in Auto EQ and Time Alignment for optimized listening. Use the high- and low-pass crossover's adjustable points and slopes to fine-tune the sound to your tastes, and engage the Advanced Sound Retriever to fill in the missing "gaps" in your compressed music files to restore them to CD-like clarity.
Eliminate the pain of FM stations fading away on long trips. You can hook up a satellite radio tuner (not included) to this receiver and listen to your favorite entertainment, sports, news, and commercial-free music channels anywhere you go. You can also connect up to two cameras, so you can see more of what's near your vehicle when getting in and out of tight spots. If you're looking to add subs and amps, you can take advantage of three sets of high-voltage preamp outputs available.
Want to keep your car's steering wheel audio controls?
In most vehicles, you can use an adapter to connect your vehicle's steering wheel controls to this Pioneer stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and the Pioneer, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. Check the "Accessories" tab for compatible adapters.
iDatalink Maestro lets you keep your factory extras
If your vehicle comes with factory add-ons like Ford SYNC®, GM OnStar®, or Chrysler Uconnect™, you don't have to worry about losing your favorite conveniences to get navigation and better sound — the AVIC-7000NEX offers compatibility you won't find in many other aftermarket radios, thanks to the iDatalink Maestro module (not included).
For Ford SYNC systems, you'll be able to retain voice-controlled features, steering wheel audio controls, and factory audio functions. For GM vehicles, you'll keep your steering wheel audio controls, your factory amp, safety warning chimes, and OnStar, if present, while Chrysler owners will get to keep all their Uconnect functionality.
iDataLink Maestro note: A firmware update from Pioneer (available here) may be required to utilize iDataLink features.

Average Customer Review:
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Awesome unit. Got clearance but was still in great shape. Got shipped with the wrong harness but Crutchfield shipped out the correct one very quickly. Overall an awesome unit.
Pros: Pretty much every option you can imagine. Plenty of inputs.
Cons: I haven't had an aftermarket GPS unit since the pioneer D3, it takes some time to learn the functions. But that isn't the units fault.
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Was told I bought the last one that CF had. Got it for a really good price. Instillation was pretty easy. Still trying to learn what it is capable of. Sounds great, video quality is great, overall I love it thanks allot CF for the great deal !!
Pros: Video quality, easy instillation, screen navigation is fairly easy.
Cons: didn't come with an HDMI cable, would be pretty kool if the screen could tilt in the other direction to deflect the sun somewhat.

2008 Honda CRV EX
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
I bought this unit to install in a 2008 Honda CR-V. The installation went smoothly with the supplied kit, took most of a day. The unit is truly amazing with almost limitless connectivity. I used a flat faced USB cable in the dash and ran another USB,HDMI, and AUX cable to the top glove box along with the control for the sub Kenwood woofer I put under the front passenger seat. All this and DVD/CD and a SD card slot and blue tooth and Navigation! Everything works well and connects quickly. I have not tried the App function yet. Sounds excellent with the stock speakers.
Pros: Everything so far.
Cons: None yet.
Just what I hoped for...
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Overall, this unit is exactly what i thought I was getting. It has all of the features I was looking for. There could be some better instructions for installing the cessories such as backup cameras. Reading the instructions probably helps, but I found myself bewildered why I could not get my back up camera to work. Learning that the camera goes into the brown input rather than a traditional yellow video input cost me a lot of time. Otherwise, as I said, this is exactly what I plan on it being and what I hoped it would.
Pros: All the features you are looking for in a good head unit. Lots of inputs.
Cons: There is a glitch, while installing in my diesel. while the glow plugs warm on a diesel, the head unit starts and then shuts off while the vehicle is starting. This sometimes causes a lag of 2 to 3 minutes without any power to the head unit. Initially, I was concerned that I had damaged it.
Great Nav Radio
2007 Honda Ridgeline
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
This is a great upgrade to my Honda Ridgeline . The unit fit well in the dash and works well. The motorized adjustable display is a nice feature and reduces glare on bright days. The Nav system is easy to use and set-up. Still getting used to the audible speed limit warnings, but I do not intend to disable them. The HD Radio works and sounds well. The touch screen is very easy to use and customize. I have hooked up a USB flash drive with the MIXTRAX feature and really enjoy the simplicity of it.
Pros: Nav and HD radio in one. Also plays USB, SD and CD/DVD. Good sound and reception. Easy to install and use. Interfaced with existing back-up camera
Cons: User manual on cd only or download from website.
2008 Audi A4
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Steep learning curve and not all that intuitive but once you get the hang of it, it performs well.
Pros: Nice interface with Audi A4 Cabriolet. Pairs easily with bluetooth.
Cons: Slow boot up and steep learning curve.
Couldn't be happier
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
I ordered another brand from Crutchfield and had a difficult time with the installation and connecting my iphone to the unit. After all the connections were made, the unit was slow to connect (when it did). I called Crutchfield and asked to replace with the Pioneer unit. No problem. I received the Pioneer unit within three days and completed the installation in less than 3 hours. It was plug and play. Everything worked right out of the box. The hardware that was supplied with the unit by Crutchfield fit perfectly. So far, I am extremely happy with the Pioneer AVIC-7000NEX.
Pros: Everything worked right out of the box with my iphone 6. Easy installation

Great upgrade for Jeep Wrangler
2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
This radio is excellent in my Jeep Wrangler. The install was slightly difficult due to old radio mount bracket, but very simple after removal of bracket. The touchscreen is very responsive and easy to navigate. The navigation has been perfectly accurate for me but missed one road due to very recent construction. This radio does make it very noticeable that the stock speakers are very poor quality so I will be upgrading them next. One minor complaint is the connectivity with Apple CarPlay. It is a great feature but occasionally takes a long time to launch and freezes during the loading. I have had to reset the headunit twice due to freezing. Perfect when CarPlay doesn't freeze though.
Pros: Easy to use Great navigation Sound is on point CarPlay (when working)
Cons: Freezes occasionally
One of the Best!
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
First of all, I bought was a "scratch & dent" though I have a lot of confidence in Crutchfield. It was missing mounting screws (which I found out I could not use anyway because they were two short to use with the Metra Dash Kit) and an Aux cable extension. About this radio: it has all the functionalities that I was looking for. The navigation was a bit challenging to orient to the way I'm used to and transition to/from other functions requires practice. Apple Carplay works flawlessly with my iPhone 6. The HDMI (mirroring) also works but the connection is not very reliable (sometimes it works!). Carplay is not available on HDMI or Bluetooth connections; only with the lightning port. My biggest disappointment is the lack of MUTE button! To do this, one have to press the + or - button, then the mute is displayed for access. Overall, I'm satisfied with this radio. From the price/functionality standpoint it is a GREAT value!
Pros: Works as promoted. Ranks with the best! Packed with features! Carplay actually works! (with iPhone 6, IOS 8.3)
Cons: Lack of MUTE button Not very intuitive; Transition to/from functions requires (a lot of) practice.

2008 Honda Accord
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
The radio has many shortcomings that make it less than an ideal entertainment platform.
With an iPod plugged in by direct lightning->USB, bluetooth audio is unusable, as it will remind you if you choose that mode. Pandora/Aha will only go through the USB connection to the iPod.
When iPod is plugged in through digital AV lightning adapter, iPod mode becomes "iPod/USB1" but is unusable, "Incompatible USB" is displayed. You can only use AppRadio mode, and only if AppRadio is installed on the iPod. AppRadio mode is not on the mode dropdown, you must press the mode button and then the Apps button. To play music, the native player cannot be used. You must have a compatible AppRadio app installed. They prefer MixTrax. HDMI mode is also available, but it's display only, no touch feedback.
Can only be configured to use one smartphone device at once. I have a Galaxy S4 and an iPod Touch. Though the Touch is not actually a phone, it must be configured as if it were. So for instance you cannot use the Touch as an iPod but use the S4 as a Pandora player, without a lot of reconfiguring.
If a phone call is received while playing Pandora, you must hit the play/pause button after the call is over to resume Pandora.
Pandora sometimes fails to connect on first try when you start the car. It requires you to press the "connect" button to make it try again.
Bluetooth in Pandora/Aha can change BT sources, but requires several menu depths to choose between.
Pros: Offers many features such as navigation, crossover with adjustable cutoff and slope, 2 USB's, HDMI in, backup camera, etc. Instant response, in contrast to the laggy response of the Kenwood radios in the same price range
Cons: Clunky menu system. As mentioned, app mode is separate from the other modes of the mode dropdown. Compressed Pandora screen. Artist and album are on the same line, which usually means they will have to scroll around. For some reason the station name is the largest text on that screen.
2011 Toyota Tundra
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
This unit is perfect sound quality and the vast amount of control you have in terms of equalizing the sound to be the best your ear can tell is amazing. i liked that it had the 13 band EQ but once i installed it and found i could control the volume of each speaker and adjust listening positions i was blow away. the antenna for the gps could have been 1-2 ft longer but i made due and am very impressed with all the abilities.
Pros: EQ control, Sound Quality, simplicity, looks, and contolability
Cons: GPS antenna could have been a little longer in my case but its nothing keeping me from telling others to buy this head unit this is definitely a must have.
Upgraded my 2011 Toyota Tundra double cab stock non-jbl stereo to the pioneer 7000 nex unit everything has gone fine with installation except that the kit Crutchfield provided to retain the USB port and Aux port was incorrect but will check for a replacement. I have always found pioneer products to be really good for price and dependability. I would definitely recommend this unit to anyone in the market.
Pros: All around worth every penny I was surprised at all the controll over your speakers and sound this unit provides
Cons: GPS cable could have been a little longer.
AVIC 7000 NEX
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Good product but maybe not quite ready for prime time. At the time I purchased this product, Apple carplay had just come out and the Crutchfield tech guys clearly were a little confused as to what worked best. As of November 2014, the Apple iPhone still does not support usage of HDMI cables or the many of the Pioneer car app features. Plus, it is overall a little buggy/glitchy. Some times the phone will work, some times not. Some times the music player will work, some times not. No one knows why. Otherwise, the 7000 NEX is handy for those who buy a car that does not come with in-dash navigation and want to upgrade. The bluetooth integration is smooth. Overall, I would like to see Pioneer, Crutchfield and Apple get their act together; once that happens, this product has exciting potential.
Pros: The AVIC 7000 NEX will be a good product. The screen resolution is excellent and the system is clearly well designed overall.
Cons: It is still a little buggy. The integration is not quite there, yet. For example, the iPhone iOS 8 does not support the HDMI Pioneer features.. A cyncical person would question whether Apple will ever "fix" that issue b/c it does compete with Apple carplay. Also, Apple carplay is in its infancy and does not yet offer a lot of features.
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Best radio I have every owned.
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
I am excited about this product because of the different features that it has. The navigation features are second to none, I put one of them in my 2005 toyota corolla and i am so please with its performance and it was easy to install.
Pros: I would recommend to anyone that is planning to purchase this product that it worth having it in their vehicle

2011 Chevrolet Camaro
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
I've traditionally been an Alpine type of guy but I love this unit and I love the service that Crutchfield gave. I installed this unit in a 2011 Camaro SS, which means I also needed a Scosche GM5201AB which Crutchfield offered for about $100 less then the competitors.
The only thing to be aware of with this unit is if you have an Android Galaxy S4 you need a different adapter vs the standard Android Adapter, you need one made by Samsung.

The angle of the motorized touchscreen display can also be adjusted to five different positions to meet your viewing needs in the car.

- Widescreen Modes: You can choose from the following widescreen modes when playing back video - Full (4:3 picture is enlarged in the horizontal direction only; enabling you to enjoy a 4:3 picture without any omissions), Zoom (4:3 picture is enlarged in the same proportion both vertically and horizontally; ideal for a 16:9 screen), Normal (4:3 picture is displayed as it is).
- Picture Adjustments: You can store numerous video settings for the head unit's video source and rear-view camera; including brightness (adjusts the black intensity), contrast (adjusts contrast) color (adjusts color saturation), temperature (adjust the color temperature), and Dimmer (adjusats brightness).
- Dimmer: To prevent the display from being too bright at night, the display is automatically dimmed when the car's headlights are turned on. The automatic dimmer function only works when the orange/white illumination wire in the wiring harness is connected to the vehicle's headlight circuit.
Note: The unit offers English, Chinese, French, Portuguese, and Spanish text.
Start-Up Time: The Pioneer AVIC-7000NEX will turn on to the last source selected or the navigation screen. The unit has a start-up time of approximately 12.7 seconds from OFF to the last Source selected, or a start-up of approximately 35.3 seconds from OFF to the Navigation screen.
Front-Panel Control w/ Custom Illumination: In addition to the touchscreen controls, the unit includes frequently used buttons along the bottom edge of the screen. The color of the button illumination can be set to red, amber, green, blue, white, or scan (constantly cycling through the color spectrum). You can also create a custom color to match your vehicle's interior lighting (112 colors to choose from).
Pass-Code Security: You can create a 5 to 16 character password that must be entered if the head unit is disconnected from power.
MIXTRAX Illumination: MIXTRAX features a club-style illumination that enhances the mood with a dynamic dance club-like lighting effect. As MIXTRAX begins, lights start pulsing to the beat of the music, adding an extra level of entertainment. You can choose among twelve patterns of lighting variations from sound pressure level or low-pass synchronization modes. The lighting effects work like a spectrum analyzer, reaching peak colors based on the intensity of the music.
Parking Brake Interlock: This unit has a parking brake interlock system that prohibits viewing of video programming and operating certain controls when the vehicle is in motion. In order to watch video on the in-dash monitor, the vehicle must be stopped with the parking brake engaged. The head unit's light green wire must be connected to your vehicle's parking brake detection circuit. The head unit's touchscreen will display "Attention! Viewing of front seat video source while driving is strictly prohibited", if you try to watch a video when your vehicle is in motion.
2-DIN Chassis: The Pioneer AVIC-7000NEX has a 2-DIN chassis (also known as "Double-DIN"), and will fit in many vehicles with a large dash opening. The unit can be ISO-mounted using factory brackets. There is also an optional double-DIN sleeve (130ADTV133, sold separately) available for this unit that will allow you to Euro-mount or custom mount the Pioneer head unit in your vehicle. As always, please consult Crutchfield's Outfit My Car to verify fit with your vehicle.
HERE Navigation: The AVIC-7000NEX offers a comprehensive map database from HERE covering the entire United States (including Alaska & Hawaii), Canada, and Puerto Rico enabling users to route to millions of destinations; including 7.9 Million points of interest (POIs). The map database is stored on the head unit's built in 8GB flash memory. Map updates via a SD/SDHC memory card will be available at later date.
Note: Car navigation maps are frequently updated. While this database was judged to be as accurate as possible at the time of its release, a map database can never be 100% accurate. Road information that is maintained in the map databases, such as turn restrictions or road names may change over time.
GPS Technology: The AVIC-7000NEX accurately measures your current location by the Global Positioning System, a network of satellites orbiting the earth to give you time and position information. The accuracy of the GPS information depends upon how good the reception is. The unit has a built-in GPS receiver with a magnetic antenna included. The AVIC-7000NEX also features a speed sensing cable for better accuracy of your vehicle's movement; this wire should always be connected to your vehicle's speed detection circuit.
Note: The navigation receiver took approximately 10.1 seconds to calculate directions from Virginia to California. It only took 7.7 seconds to calculate directions from Virginia to Maryland. These tests were done inside the Crutchfield Lab of the Crutchfield Headquarters. Results will vary based on length of calculated route and your surrounding area.
Real-Time Traffic Updates: Partnering with Clear Channel Broadcasting's Total Traffic Network, the built-in traffic tuner provides real-time traffic data for over 90 major cities in North America, including US and Canada. Check your commute route in advance or re-route to your destination to avoid traffic congestion. There is no subscription cost and no annoying on-screen advertisements.
- Road segments affected by traffic incidents are displayed with an alternate color on the map and small symbols above the road show the nature of the incident.
- When traffic information that may affect your route is receive, this system will warn you that it is recalculating the route and navigation will continue with a new route that is optimal considering the most up-to-date traffic conditions.
AVICSYNC App (Future Availability): With Pioneer's free AVICSYNC app and a connected iPhone (4 and newer) or Android smartphone (Galaxy series), users can access connected services that include traffic, local search, weather, gas prices and more, with key information/icons overlaid on the existing map screen information (subscription(s) required). With the AVICSYNC app, users have up-to-date and current information offering the benefits of the Latest Map Guarantee (LMG), where map data that becomes available within 90 days of the first use is updated on the receiver. It also includes highly accurate and the fast live traffic updates (every two minutes) from its High Density (HD) Traffic feature.
On-Screen Map: The Pioneer AVIC-7000NEX displays a real-time moving map illustrating your current position and intended route. It will show map scale and geographic details such as lakes, rivers, highways, buildings, and towns. Your route is marked with a green line, while your vehicle is indicated by a red arrow on the screen, and checkered flag marks your destination. As you travel the AVIC-7000NEX guides to your destination with arrows on the map and directions at the top of the screen. The map screen will also indicate the distance to your next maneuver. During your calculated route, distance to your final destination, timed need to reach the final destination, and estimated arrival time are all displayed on-screen. You can adjust the following map settings.
- 2D/3D Map Mode: The Pioneer AVIC-7000NEX allows you to view its on-screen map in a 2D (two-dimensional) or 3D (three-dimensional) view. 2D View displays a normal two-dimensional map with North or your direction at the top of map screen. Similar to paper road maps, the 2D mode, shows you streets, roads, and elevation by color. In 3D mode, your direction is at the top of the map screen and you can see the altitude and elevations differences. You can distinguish between valleys, mountains, and elevated roads. In selected cities 3D landmarks and 3D buildings are also displayed.
- Color Mode: You can switch between daytime and nighttime color modes or let the head unit's software switch between the two mode automatically a few minutes before sunrise and a few minutes after sunset.
Note: The on-screen map offers Smart Zoom. When you approach a turn, the map will zoom in and raise the view angle to let you easily recognize your maneuver at the next junction. If the turn is at a distance, it will zoom out and lower the view angle to be flat so you can see the road in front of you.
Lane Guidance & Signposts: The Pioneer AVIC-7000NEX's navigation map offers helpful lane information and signpost guidance, along with exit service.
- Lane Guidance: When navigation on multilane roads, it is important to take the appropriate lane in order to follow the recommended route. If lane information is available in the map data, the map screen will display the lanes and their directions using small arrows at the bottom of the map. - Shortest: gives a route that has the smallest total distance of all possible routes. It can be practical for slow vehicles
- Economical: combines the benefits of Fast and Short; calculates as if it were calculating the Fast route, but it takes other roads as well to save fuel
- Easy: results in a route with fewer turns and no difficult maneuvers
- Avoidances: You can tell the navigation unit to avoid certain types of roads along your calculated route, such as - Highways, Tolls, Carpool/HOV, Unpaved Roads, and/or Ferries.

You see a straight line drawn between your current position and the next destination to reach. The Turn Preview field in the top left corner shows an arrow with your bearing and the distance of the next destination.

HD Radio: The Pioneer AVIC-7000NEX's built-in HD Radio tuner lets you listen to the radio with the same fidelity as your digital music. HD Radio features high quality audio, FM multi-casting, and data services. With HD Radio, your FM stations offer near CD-quality sound, AM stations provide FM-like sound, and there is crystal-clear reception with no audio distortion. Best of all, HD Radio is 100% subscription free. The unit's tuner also supports analog AM/FM broadcasts.
- Multicasting: In addition to conventional broadcasts, with HD Radio broadcasting it is possible to choose from up to 3 multicast programs (HD1 to HD3, and analog). There are also data programs for each program.
- Station Text/Album Art + RDS: AM/FM digital stations can offer text and data such as artist names and song titles. The head unit also supports Album Art from select HD Radio stations. For analog FM stations, the Radio Data System (RDS) feature displays radio broadcast information such as song/artist information when listening to compatible RDS FM stations.
- Supertuner IIID: The Supertuner IIID features Feed Forward Control, which avoids multi-path interference. This pre-detection of interference enables quick filter control and results in less distortion. In addition, the Supertuner IIID creates enhanced stereo during multi-path interference, unlike conventional tuners that collapse to mono. Digital processing reduces distortion, and improves Signal-to-Noise Ratio and stereo separation. Advanced analog technology improves signal processing sensitivity.
- Reception Blending: If a digital broadcast reception condition gets poor, this unit automatically switches to the analog broadcast of the same frequency level. If this function is set to "On", the tuner switches between digital broadcast and analog broadcast automatically. If this function is 'Off', reception will be conducted within an analog broadcast.
- BSM (Best Stations Memory): The BSM (Best Stations Memory) function lets you automatically store the six strongest analog or HD stations under preset buttons 1-6 of the currently tuned band. The tuner has 3 FM banks and 1 AM bank. You can store 6 presets for each bank giving you a total of 18 FM presets and 6 AM presets.
- Local Tuning: Local seek tuning lets you tune in only those radio stations with sufficiently strong signals for good reception. There are 4 level of sensitivity for FM and two levels for AM. The higher settings allow reception of only the strongest stations, while lower settings let you receive progressively weaker stations.
- iTunes Tagging: It is possible to save the song's information (tag) from a HD Radio or RDS FM broadcasting station to your USB-direct connected iPod/iPhone. The songs will show up in a playlist called "Tagged" in iTunes the next time you sync your iPod/iPhone. Then you can directly buy the songs you want from the iTunes Music Store.
Note: HD Radio is the system for digital AM and FM broadcasting in the U.S. More than 2,000 radio stations are broadcasting their primary signals in digital HD Radio technology, as a free service. Go to www.hdradio.com to check for HD Radio stations in your area.

Yes is very good [ JUAN Jun 24, 2015 ]
They claim it is. I only have an iPod Touch, which does not support CarPlay. But I would caution against the AVIC-7000nex anyway due to its many limitations. First, CarPlay is only compatible with the direct Lightning/USB connection. Not Bluetooth, and not through the Digital AV adaptor. So every time you get into the car, you must plug the iPhone in, and if you planned to use the digital AV connector to get video to the radio, you will be disappointed at the amount of reconfiguration necessary to switch between modes. I also have trouble with iPod mode. Choosing a song on the playlist can take even half a minute to actually take effect. Scroll through your playlist, choose a song, and then keep listening to the current song for a long time. Give up, choose a song again (or even try a different one), and then a short while later it will finally start playing your first selection. Then after another long time it will start playing your next selection, and so on until it finally catches up. Quite annoying. In fact, I have pretty much quit using iPod mode at all and use Pandora through bluetooth to my phone. So the iPod Touch has become nothing more than a power draw. In all, it seems that the user interface is not very well thought out on this device. One would hope that the newer models have solved some of these issues. [ Daniel Jun 22, 2015 ]
Yes, I have an iPhone 6 and it works fine Pioneer sends update notices if you register the product with them [ ROB D Jun 22, 2015 ]
Yes it is fully compatible with iOS 8. Everything works on my iPhone Directly on the radio. [ Luis Jun 22, 2015 ]
Yes works with my current iphone 6+ flawlessly [ BRANDON MICHAEL Jun 22, 2015 ]
I don't use iphones, so I'm of no help to you. Sorry. [ RONALD Jun 22, 2015 ]
Yes. It requires the latest firmware update which is available on the Pioneer website. My 7000NEX shipped with version 1.01 of the firmware. After updating I'm not at 1.08 which is CarPlay compatible. It's a relatively easy process requiring a micro SD card or USB thumb drive. [ Christopher Jun 22, 2015 ]
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you. [ Krissy Jun 22, 2015 ] Staff
Hi Eddie, I do not use pandora so i am not sure.I do have xm tho installed on my unit and yes i can use my xm while using my GPS.I would assume you could but it may be a question to ask to the experts a little more fimiliar with all of the features.I really like the product and would recommend this unit if it is a fit for you?Hope this helped. Nick [ NICK J Mar 03, 2015 ]
Yes you can and when the GPS goes to give directions the volume of the radio dims so you can hear her and there is also a setting to change the GPS volume because the factory volume for the GPS is incredibly loud. I would Definitely recommend buying this unit and adding the satallite radio adapter or the NEX-8000 I personally own the 7000 and absolutely love it saving now to and a reverse camera and extra tv so my child can watch tv on road trips [ SEAN Mar 02, 2015 ]
Yes, navigation can be used while listening to other sources [ Daniel Mar 02, 2015 ]
Yes you can listen to radio while using your GPS.. [ Eric Mar 02, 2015 ]
Yes you can. It will mute the music to give directions than go back to music. Or if your just on the map screen watching where your going you can listen to any input on that screen. [ BRANDON MICHAEL Mar 02, 2015 ]
Yes, all audio works while using GPS as long as you connect it correctly to mute when NAV is giving audio directions. You can view NAV screen or audio screen or toggle back and forth. If in audio screen the Nav will have a display bar at the bottom of the screen with info. [ ROB D Mar 02, 2015 ]
I had purchased my 7000 series early last year and it did not have the apple car play out of the box and they did not have the soft ware at that time.Later that year the soft ware was made thru pioneer and I down loaded it and installed the information into my deck and it works great..They may have now already preloaded but either way it will work.. Yes it has Apple car play and it works great. You have to do the software download and update when you get it due to the software being released after the avic-nex was released. I found it easy to do and the sound quality of the unit beats any I've ever had. [ ROB D Jan 14, 2015 ]
Yes, plug in your iPhone (have used iPhone 5 and 6) and it just works. I have not used all the features but those that I (phone and text) work for me fine. [ Christopher Jan 14, 2015 ]
At most you will have to update the firmware on the radio, which you can do from the USB1 port or via the micro SSD slot on the front. I purchased my unit over six months ago before CarPlay was out and updated the firmware, and CarPlay works great. Units shipping today may include the latest firmware, but I can't say for sure. Check out the AVIC411 forum. It has a few hacks that are very useful, including the motion sensor. [ Richard Nov 13, 2014 ]

You cannot enter info into the Nav while vehicle is moving Safety feature [ ROB D Nov 10, 2014 ]
Short answer is no. And really there are no built in Navigation units that can be used while the vehicle is in motion. The stand alone units (windshield mount type) can be. Long answer, a Google search is your friend. There are plenty of online resources that will allow you to bypass the unit to be able to use the functions while the vehicle is moving. For details on fit or installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you the details on if this will fit and what you will need for an installation in your vehicle. [ Krissy Oct 13, 2014 ] Staff
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you. [ Krissy Jun 23, 2014 ] Staff

Does this media receiver have a jack for a sub? [ Bryan May 31, 2014 ]
2 answers I bought this and put it in my 2008 ford taurus x. is there a way to get it to dim or is there a night feature for the gps? It was blinding so I used the mode and turned off the screen. Im sure I'm missing something but IU can't find anything to get it to automatically dim. Any ideas? [ rgarcia May 19, 2014 ]
Hello Richard, I agree. it is incredibly bright at night. I couldn't stand it so I got the manual and got online searching for more answers. There really isn't a lot of discussion about this. At least not how to fix it. Anyway, my ford has a separate dimmer so I took the orange/white lead coming from the back of the unit and added about three feet of wire. I then took it and tried it on the three leads going to the dimmer. One was orange/white. You think that would have done the trick but it did nothing. I believe the other was a solid green and it appeared to make a little difference. I then tried it on the blue/white wire and it works......kind of. Here's where it got interesting. As I dimmed the lights the instrument lights dimmed like they always did but the pioneer lights dimmed up. And of course, as I brightened the instrument lights the pioneer unit got dimmer. It's not the perfect situation but I think it will work for now. You would think this would be an easy fix. Thanks for your reply to my question. [ rgarcia May 20, 2014 ]
I have it in my 2010 STI and have not figured out how to auto dim the display (if there even is one). It is incredibly bright at night, and have been manually dimming it when driving during dark hours through the settings menu. (Then I have to readjust in the morning unfortunately.)
