Launch your mobile video system into the stratosphere! The display will dazzle you, too, with its lush background images and entertaining spectrum analyzers. And you'll enhance everything you listen to when you engage Easy EQ's preset curves or the adjustable three-band parametric EQ, both of which let you tailor the sound to your vehicle. Front, rear, and subwoofer preamp outputs let you connect external amps to drive your speakers with even more impact. System expansion is a snap, too. Motorized 6.5" TFT LCD Touch-screen Color Display: The AVH-P6600DVD features a motorized 6.5" TFT Active Matrix, 16:9 wide screen touch-screen display with an adjustable viewing angle. The resolution of the display is 1440 x 234 for a total of 336,960 pixels. The screen has an anti-glare, low reflection coating for better visibility. The touch panel allows you to control this unit or a connected component such as a CD or DVD changer or TV tuner. Menus appear on screen for making function choices, audio adjustments or setting up the system. The top edge of the LCD display features a 10-character display to allow you to operate the unit with the screen in the closed position.
Detachable Control Panel: To prevent theft, the control panel (the bottom half of the front panel) can be detached from the unit. Note: There is no case for the detachable control panel supplied with this unit.
Ultra-Slim Profile DVD/CD/MP3/WMA Player: This unit has a single disc player, compatible with DVD-Video, DVD-R (video mode), DVD-RW (video mode), Audio CDs, Video CDs, CD-R, and CD-RW discs. This unit can also play back MP3 and WMA files recorded on CD-ROM, CD-R or CD-RW discs.
XM-Satellite Ready: This unit has controls for an optional Pioneer XM Satellite Radio tuner. With the GEX-P910XM XM tuner, this unit will display 16 characters of data, such as artist names, song titles, program titles, etc. You can preset up to 18 XM channels, six for each of three XM preset bands. Channels can be selected in the channel category or directly by entering the channel number. Note: Receiving XM Satellite Radio programming also requires a compatible antenna and a subscription.
MP3/WMA Playback: This unit can play back MP3 and WMA files recorded on CD-ROM, CD-R or CD-RW discs in ISO9660 Level 1 or 2, Romeo or Joliet formats. Compatible MP3 bit rates range from 8-320 kbps, with 128 kbps recommended. This unit can play WMA recordings with bit rates from 48 to 192 kbps, with bit rates in the higher portion of the range recommended. This unit is compatible with ID3 tags, and will display recorded folder/file names, track titles, artists names, album titles, recording bit rate and comments.
Hide-Away Unit: In addition to the main unit, the AVH-P6600DVD features a hide-away unit with additional inputs and outputs. It connects to the head unit via two 5' multi-pin cables. The hide-away unit features a vehicle antenna input (a 6.5' antenna extension is supplied), a VCR input with stereo audio and composite video, an output for a rear monitor with stereo audio and composite video, and a composite video input for a back up camera (requires connection to the vehicle's back up lamp circuit with the supplied wire). Dimensions: Width=6.057", Height=1.098", Depth=4.241" (Depth=6.466" with front monitor cable and RCA cables connected)
Dual Zone Capability: You can enjoy two totally different types of media between the front and rear of the vehicle. While listening to the tuner, XM radio, or using navigation, an audio and video signal from the built-in DVD player can be fed to a separate video monitor, such as the AVD-W6200.
Video Adjustments: You can store numerous video settings for each source, including brightness, contrast, color and hue.
Flip Down Mode: When an upright LCD panel hinders the operation of the air conditioner or dash controls, you can temporarily fold the panel down. After a few seconds in the folded down position, the panel returns to its original position after a couple of warning beeps.
Wide Screen Modes: This unit allows you to select one of five methods of viewing a normal (4:3) picture on the 16:9 screen: Full, Just, Cinema, Zoom and Normal. Different settings can be memorized for each video source.
Dimmer: You can select the brightness level from three settings: daytime, evening, and nighttime viewing. After setting the brightness level, the unit uses an ambient light sensor, located on the top of the monitor frame, to automatically adjust the brightness to an optimum level within the setting range you've selected.
Supertuner IIID: This unit has a Supertuner IIID for superior AM/FM reception. You can store up to 6 station presets for each band (AM, FM1, FM2 and FM3). These presets are displayed in a list on the screen for selecting the station you want to listen to. The tuner's sensitivity is adjustable from 1-4 for FM and 1-2 for AM. The unit's Best Station Memory (BSM) lets you automatically store the 6 strongest stations on the selected band.
Sound Focus EQ (SFEQ): The Sound Focus EQ clarifies the sound image of vocals and instruments through the use of "focused" seating positions. You can select different SFEQ settings: Front1 boosts the treble on the front outputs and the bass on the rear outputs, Front2 boosts both treble and bass on the front and the bass on the rear outputs. For both Front1 and Front2 settings, you can choose a high or low effect. If you want to further adjust the settings left or right, you can save the new setting as a custom setting.
Easy EQ Curves: This model has "Super Bass", "Powerful", "Natural", "Vocal", "Custom", and "Flat" preset EQ curves. The "custom" curves are ones that you create and store in memory; a different "Custom 1" curve may be set for each source, and the "Custom 2" curve is one that will be the same for all sources.
EQ Compensation (EQ-EX): The EQ-EX compensates for each equalizer curve, plus you can adjust bass and treble for each source when the "Custom" curve is selected. The EQ-EX can be turned on/off in the menu, but you cannot use EQ-EX and SFEQ functions simultaneously.
3-Band Parametric Equalizer: This unit includes a 3-band parametric EQ with Selectable Q Factor. You may select a low (40, 80, 100 or 160Hz), mid (200, 500, 1k or 2kHz) and high frequency (3.15k, 8k, 10k or 12.5kHz) to boost or cut within a range of -6dB to +6dB. The Q factor (slope of the boost or cut) may be selected from one of the following four options: 2N (narrow), 1N, 1W and 2W (wide). Selecting a narrow (steep) Q factor results in frequencies around the center frequency to be affected less by the boost or cut than they are with a wide Q factor. This feature is useful for taming frequency response problems caused by the dimensions, materials and speaker locations of a vehicle.
Selectable Bass and Treble Cut-off Frequencies: The cut-off frequencies for the bass and treble controls can be set independently of the 3-band parametric equalizer adjustments. The bass cut-off frequency can be set to 40Hz, 63Hz, 100Hz or 160Hz. The treble cut-off frequency can be set to 2.5kHz, 4kHz, 6.3kHz or 10kHz. The bass and treble controls have an adjustment range of -6 to +6.
Adjustable Loudness: You can select "Low", "Mid" or "High" for different levels of loudness compensation.
DSP Controls: The AVH-P6600DVD has controls for an optional multi-channel digital signal processor (such as the DEQ-P8000). With a connected DSP unit, you can apply seat position, time alignment adjustments, sound field controls, speaker output level adjustments with a test tone, and set cutoff frequencies.
Rear Channel Output: You can choose to use the rear channel output (speaker and preout) for full-range speaker or subwoofer. If you select "subwoofer", you can connect a 4-ohm subwoofer directly to each rear speaker lead without using an external amplifier.
High-volt RCA Preouts: This unit features 3 pairs of preamp outputs (Front, Rear, and Subwoofer/Non-fading). The preouts have an output voltage of 4 volts, and a low output impedance of 100 ohms, providing a strong, clear signal to your external amplifiers.
Subwoofer/Non-fading Preouts: In addition to the front and rear preamp outputs, there is one set of outputs that may be set for "subwoofer" or "non fading" output. When set to "non fading", the signal is full range and the output level is user selectable from -6 to +6. When set to "subwoofer", the outputs are non fading, and they may be set for normal or reverse phase, 50Hz/80Hz/125Hz low-pass output (slope is 18dB/octave), and the level is user selectable from -6 to +6.
High-pass Filter: When you don't want sound in the subwoofer frequency range output from the front and rear speakers, you may activate the built-in high-pass filter. The HPF has a slope of 12dB/octave and you may select a cutoff frequency of 50Hz, 80Hz, or 125Hz.
Source Level Adjustment (SLA): This function prevents radical leaps in volume when switching between sources. To use this function, you compare the volume level of the different sources (AM, CD/Changer) to the FM level, then you can adjust each source level to match the FM level. Since the reference level is based on the FM volume, SLA is not possible on FM.
Optional Aux Input: When used with item 130CDRB10 (sold separately) or item 130CDRB20 (sold separately), this unit can accept input from an auxiliary source, such as a portable CD or MD player. When item 130CDRB10 is used, a CD changer cannot be connected to this unit. Item 130CDRB20 allows you to connect an optional Pioneer CD changer and an auxiliary source to this unit. You can name the Auxiliary source using Upper and lower case letters, numbers and/or symbols from the Name Edit menu.
Cellular Mute: This feature mutes or attenuates the unit's audio output when a cellular call is received, then restores the level once the call is over. To use this feature, you must have a cellular phone with a muting output that can be connected to the muting input wire (yellow/black lead) of this unit.
Warning Tone: If the front panel is not detached from the head unit within 5 seconds of turning off the ignition, a warning tone will sound. This feature can be turned On or Off.
Screen Appearance Settings: In the Setup menu, you can determine the appearance of the screen background:
- Touch Key Color: choose between blue and silver touch key colors
- Background Picture (BGP): choose between BGP1 (hexagonal shapes in varying shades of blue) and BGP2 (hexagonal shapes in full spectrum of colors)
- Motion Text: choose between motion text on and off (motion text is activated only when parking brake is engaged)
Background Displays: Background displays can be selected while listening to any source. These background displays appear on a blue framed virtual drop-down screen in front of the Background (still) Picture. Each time the "Entertainment" button is pressed, the background displays change in the following order:
- Background (still) Picture: hexagonal shapes in blue or colors
- Spectrum Analyzer 1: 13-band spectrum analyzer in varying shades of blue
- Spectrum Analyzer 2: 13-band spectrum analyzer with green, yellow and red segments
- Level Meter 1: "drop-down screen" divided into quarters with intersecting dividing lines expanding and contracting
- Level Meter 2: 3 analog gauges similar to vehicle speedometer and tachometer
- Visual 1: moving shapes that simulate being underwater (varying shades of blue and white)
- Visual 2: simulated flames emanating from the bottom of the screen (yellow, orange and red with black background)
- Visual 3: out-of-focus expanding shapes in varying shades of blue emanating from the center of the screen
- Clock: sepia-toned analog clock movements (moving gears) with real-time digital clock display on the right
- Navigation: navigation unit wallpaper (only when navigation unit is in use)
- Video Source: currently selected video source appears on screen (does not appear when listening to audio sources)
Remote Control: The supplied remote control (CXC3074) has controls for this unit, as well as for an optional Pioneer DVD player/changer. A three-way switch lets you change from audio controls (for this unit) to TV controls (for an optional TV tuner) to DVD controls (for the built-in and/or an optional DVD player or changer). When controlling an optional DVD unit, you can switch between controls for a single unit (SDV-P7) or multi-disc unit (XDV-P9). Dimensions: Length=4.844", Width=2.065", Height=0.555".
Multi-CD Controls: In addition to basic disc navigation features, the AVH-P6600DVD has the following changer controls: pause, disc intro scan, track intro scan, track repeat, disc repeat, all disc repeat, disc random, and all disc random. This unit is also compatible with the CDX-P5000 50-disc changer, but is not designed to operate disc titling functions.
ITS (Instant Track Selection) Programming: The ITS function can be used to program automatic playback of up to 99 tracks per disc for up to 100 discs. With changers sold before the CDX-P1250 and CDX-P650, up to 24 tracks can be stored in the playlist.
Disc Title Memory: Titles of up to 10 characters each can be entered into memory for up to 100 discs.
Disc Title List: This feature allows you to display disc titles that you have entered. From the list, you can select a disc for playback.
CD Text Display: When used with a CD Text compatible Pioneer CD changer, this unit will display the titles of CD Text encoded discs that are played in the changer. The titles can be displayed in a list, and a track can be selected from the list for playback. When playing a CD Text disc on a CD Text compatible changer, you cannot switch to the Disc Title Input mode. CD Text disc titles, artist names and track titles longer than 10 characters may be scrolled to reveal the entire string of text.
CD Sound Quality Adjustment: Using the "COMP" (compression) and "DBE" (dynamic bass emphasis) functions, you can adjust the playback quality of the changer. Each function may be set to one of two levels or off. The "COMP" function compresses the audio signal to eliminate distortions caused by the imbalances between the loudest and softest sounds when played at high volumes. The "DBE" function boosts bass frequencies to give your music a more full sound. Note: For these functions to work, they must be supported by the Pioneer CD changer.
TV Tuner Controls: If desired, you can add a compatible Pioneer TV tuner to this unit, and the unit will be able to control various functions of the tuner.
DVD Controls: You can add a compatible Pioneer single-disc DVD player or multi-disc DVD changer. The supplied remote has a switch which allows the remote to control a connected DVD player/changer.
