You've loaded your music library onto your iPod — now take it on the road. Pioneer's CD-i200 iPod control interface gives you convenient control and charging of your iPod from compatible Pioneer car stereos. And the simple one cable connection eliminates the bulky adapter box found with many iPod adapters.

The CD-i200 lets you control iPod playback right from your Pioneer's faceplate, scrolling through your playlists to pick out the tracks you want to hear, while leaving your iPod stored safely out of the way. The interface's fast, smooth operation eliminates annoying lags, and, with a compatible display, you'll get multiple lines of information for album, artist, and song name. You can even use the touchscreen on select Pioneer stereos and video screens to manage your iPod.

Compatibility Note: Be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this iPod adapter.

Why would I need an iPod® adapter?

An iPod adapter allows you to connect your iPod to your car stereo, then access your playlists with your stereo's controls - a great idea for several reasons. One, you can scroll through your song titles on your stereo's larger display, instead of squinting down at your iPod. Two, you can route the adapter cable to your glove compartment or center console, so your iPod stays safely out of sight. Three, the iPod adapter keeps your iPod fully charged, so it's ready to rock when you leave your car. And last of all, some adapters bypass your iPod's internal digital-to-analog converter, using your stereo's superior DAC to turn your files back into music.

You should warn all customers that this cable does not work with 6th generation ipod nano

Pros: Worked perfectly with my 1st generation iPod Nano. The I stupidly sent this iPod back to Apple for their battery replacement program.

Cons: Apple sent me a 6th generation ipod as a replacement and, guess what? It does not work properly with this cable. When you connect it the unit the display freezes at the 'iPOD READY" readout until you disconnect the iPod and then reconnect it. Then the unit will only play ONE SONG AT A TIME. You have to MANUALLY push the skip button to get the next selection to play.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Excellent product! I currently use this adapter with an iPod touch. It was
very easy to install, and it has been nice having the ability to control the
iPod from the stereo. This adapter also allows me to keep the iPod out of
sight in the glove compartment.

This product works great. When I plug my ipod into this cord which is connected to my radio I am able to change the songs on my ipod without having the distraction of trying to change them while I'm driving. Thank You Crutchfield for selling this product.

won't charge 2g touch

Written By jessebo, IN on Monday, February 02, 2009

this is a great product. I have been completely happy with this product, but I have recently upgraded my Ipod to a 2g touch model, and it won't charge my ipod. I keep hoping they'll come out with an adapter, but so far, Pioneer hasn't done it. if your looking for it to charge your newer model ipod, you will probably be disappointed.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am satisfied that I purchased this product because it works well with my I-Pod and had no problems using this. It was an easy installation. I got rid of my FM transmitter (which had some static problems on the road) and now I have no static problems. I would recommend this product. Good price and fast shipping! Thanks! 5 Stars

Just plug it in, route the wire where you want it (still has lots of slack to put the end nearly anywhere) and enjoy!

Plug it in and turn it on. ZERO problems!!! 100% HAPPY!!! If you have an iPod you need this. The only thing better would be to have nothing but the iPod connection. No CD player units will be next. GREAT JOB Pioneer!!!!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this because the aux input on the front of my receiver was horribe quality..thankfully this is much better and very near cd-quality (If not at that level already). A minor problem is that it does not charge the newer iPods that just came out (ie, 4th generation nano), but they just came out so it is not their fault. I would reccomend this to anyone who wants to listen to an iPod in the car, auxilary input just does not compare.

Does it work with iPhone 3G?

Written By Edward, Atlanta, GA on Thursday, September 11, 2008

I have read bits and pieces about how this cable works with the iPhone, but I wanted to summarize what I have found to work and not work with my AVIC-D3, iPhone 3G, and the CD-I200 cable.

What doesn't work:
* Phone will not charge. You get a nag screen indicating this and also asking you if you want to switch your phone to airplane mode.
* Video does not play on the AVIC-D3 screen. The sound comes through, but the video is on the iPhone screen.
* Sometimes (though it isn't very often) I get an error on the AVIC screen when I plug in the iPhone. If I unplug and replug, it usually works fine.

What does work:
* The iPod functions on the AVIC screen work and I can scroll through the music collection.
* When receiving a phone call, the music fades and the phone rings through the stereo speakers. I can take the call without unplugging the interface cable. When I hang up, the music comes back up where it left off.
* I can access the other iPhone menus and functions while music continues to play.

The biggest pain is that the charger doesn't work. If I'm playing music and the iPhone battery runs low, I'd have to switch to a different charger that won't play music through the AVIC. It also means another cable and not-so-seamless integration -- which is one of the strentghs of the AVIC line.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I brought the item for my Ipod Touch and Pioneer AVIC-D3. Works great, all I have to do is plug it in put the Ipod out of site and control every thing from my head unit and steering controls. Easy install video works when you have the car parked and the parking break set. Before using I suggest you adjust the EQ settings on your Ipod or you might blow your speakers.

Functional...but lacking

Written By Benjamin, Lancaster, PA on Thursday, May 01, 2008

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought it to have easy connectivity to my ipod music storage, thus not having to swap out dvd/cd with music for the NAV disc (can I say annoying and poor design?). But that is off-topic.

The cable works, it will hook to your ipod and allow you to search for your music. That said, the interface is cumbersome - especially with driving. You have really small areas you have to select your info with. Best bet, spend countless hours setting up playlists or just play random songs. Video does not work, but was not really getting the cable for this use. Would have been nice (with NAV units) to give the same visual experience the ipod offers - ie, album art, ipod display graphics. I know there is enough resolution on the monitor, why would this not be thought of in design?

ONE MAJOR ISSUE...if you use any setting for your EQ on your ipod when not connected - TURN OFF THE EQ BEFORE PLAYING THROUGH YOUR PIONEER!!! Unless, if you wish to blow your speakers because you left the 'loundness' setting on when listening through the headset. This is poor design by Pioneer with my particular interface. Perhaps it is not the same for all pioneer units??? Who knows! But this is poorly done by Pioneer and very disappointing!

Perfect, just what I needed

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this to go with my Pioneer DEH-P4900iB CD Receiver, which I installed in my 2002 Hyundai Accent. This was my first installaion of a car stereo, and I knew that I needed an input for my iPod, since I was tired of using the FM transmitter.

Pros - easy to install, good length to work with, sound quality is top notch!

Cons - none! If you have an iPod and want to listen to it, forget the FM Transmitter and get yourself an adapater for whichever receiver you choose. It's a must! Worth Every cent."

Not there yet

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Pros: First, I agree, that you can say that my rating is a little harsh but that is just in the case where you are looking for good sound quality and some control of your ipod. So if this is all that you need this will do.

Cons: Browsing big music collections is terrible. You need to glue you finger to the screen scrolling down to your close-to-the-bottom of the alphabet artist or album because it takes forever (if you don't give up earlier). Not the safest thing to do while you are driving. Also, there no support for non-latin character sets so you just get blank tag info for those songs.

Great way to go!!!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I looked at the wireless systems for connecting my Ipod but they all relied on a clean FM carrier station. The problem is we live in the mountians, signals are not always clean, and I did not put out the money for the Ipod to have scratchy music! The Pioneer system is great, super easy install cable plugs right in just fish it down and out of the dash and you are good to go.

Will Not Work With IPhone

Written By Eric, Oklahoma City on Tuesday, December 18, 2007

This item in all fairness works well with all dock connected ipod's. It just won't work with the most expensive one, iphone. This is a real disappointment! I use this cable with the Pioneer 7900BT. With the video ipod it does a great job. I was just wanting to get rid of one of my devices when I got the iphone.

Fast operation, great hard-wired sound.

Written By Jarrett, Phoenix, AZ on Wednesday, July 25, 2007

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I got this cable free with my Pioneer DEH-P4900iB. That's right, FREE.

I expected the sound quality to be great because it is hard-wired, as opposed to a poor quality FM transmitter... and I got exactly what I expected.

As for speed of operation, I assumed there would be at least a slight delay when compared to how fast the menus pop up on the iPod itself. This is where your $30 (for those that had to or will be paying for it) is spent. There is ZERO delay. None. The HU displays the iPod menus super fast. I love this thing.

Installation was simple as all you need to do is plug it in to the dongle on the back of the stereo. Routing the cable into the vehicle's cabin will vary depending on the vehicle. For my '05 xB, I have a mounting bracket that fills the extra large space left by the stock radio. The mounting bracket leaves me a storage pocket about 1 inch high under the stereo. I drilled a hole in the back of the pocket and fed the iPod cable (and 3.5mm cable for another MP3 player) through the hole and I have the cables wound up in the storage pocket.

If you have a stereo that's compatible with this cable and you're not using it, you're just foolish. Get the cable. Thanks, Crutchfield.

Agreed fully

What the last guy said, right down to the model of the stereo. Sounds better than CDs.

Great Adapter

Written By Brad, Provo, UT on Saturday, February 10, 2007

This little cable works great. I'm using it with my Pioneer DEH-P5900iB, and the controls are great.

The sound quality is also excellent. Much better than an FM transmitter, or even the auxiliary in.
