Get your iPhone® into the game

The Pioneer CD-IH202 cable kit provides a link between your iPhone® 5 and a compatible Pioneer receiver with an HDMI input. This kit includes a 2-meter HDMI cable for audio and video transfer between the receiver and your iPhone 5, plus a 1.5-meter cable (17-pin to USB ) that charges your device when it's connected. To complete your hookup, you'll also need the Apple® Lightning™ to USB Cable, plus the Apple Digital AV Adapter (Lightning to HDMI).

With this cable kit and the other necessary adapters in place, you'll be able to access and control select iPhone 5 apps through the Pioneer receiver's AppRadio Mode, and also play and control the music and videos you've stored on your iPhone 5 from the receiver's touchscreen.

Note: A firmware update from Pioneer may be required for your receiver (available at no charge — see Pioneer's website for details).

  • provides an HDMI connection between select Pioneer receivers and the iPhone 5
  • includes HDMI and USB cables
  • requires Apple Lightning to USB Cable plus the Apple Digital AV Adapter (Lightning to HDMI)
  • compatible with Pioneer AppRadio 2 (SPH-DA100), AVIC-Z150BH, AVIC-X950BH, AVH-X8500BHS
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Why would I need an iPod® adapter?

An iPod adapter allows you to connect your iPod to your car stereo, then access your playlists with your stereo's controls - a great idea for several reasons. One, you can scroll through your song titles on your stereo's larger display, instead of squinting down at your iPod. Two, you can route the adapter cable to your glove compartment or center console, so your iPod stays safely out of sight. Three, the iPod adapter keeps your iPod fully charged, so it's ready to rock when you leave your car. And last of all, some adapters bypass your iPod's internal digital-to-analog converter, using your stereo's superior DAC to turn your files back into music.

Unnecessary if Your Radio has Built-in USB Connections

Written By AustinB, Florida on Tuesday, September 22, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This kit is only necessary if your radio has the proprietary Pioneer plug on the back for USB. If your radio has standard USB jacks on the back, save yourself some money and just buy standard HDMI and/or USB cables. I was a little bit disappointed that I was advised to buy this kit for my SPH-DA120 instead of simply buying an HDMI cable. This is the only time I've ever been less than 100% satisfied with Crutchfield's customer service.

Pros: Provides USB input for Pioneer radios without a standard USB plug built-in.

Cons: An extremely overpriced HDMI cable if you don't need the USB conversion cable.

Great item and indispensable to see videos on your stereo.

Pros: Necessary

Not for NEX4000

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Not worth is. You dont need this USB adapter for the NEX4000, it does not even connect to the radio. Skip this and just go buy a HDMI cable. Thats all you need.

Cons: Expensive and unnecessary for AppRadio Mode.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The kit worked as advertised, but my radio Did Not need all the included cables. Im assuming that's the reason for the high price of otherwise basic cables( minus of course the specialized pioneer connection cable) one of which was not for my HU.

Pros: The cable system worked as advertised.

Cons: Should be more radio specific, might cut the cost of unnecessary cable(s)?

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The main cable you get this for is the custom USB cable. It bridges 2 USB ports to 1. It cannot handle the typical grounding spacer between the USB ports. The HDMI cable is pretty generic. I couldn't use the USB cable on my AVH-X8500BHS.

Pros: None- it didn't address my issue.

Cons: The USB connector should be plug and play, and it's not.

Works like a charm

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Works perfectly.

Look before you buy!

Written By Mike R, Athens, GA on Friday, February 14, 2014

Well it works, but that's only part of the story. The kit comes with a standard HDMI cable (yes the same cable you can buy anywhere, including Crutchfield) and special 17 pin to usb female cable. I purchased this along with the Pioneer AVH-X8500BHS DVD receiver because it was "required" to make the app radio work with my I-phone. The HDMI cable worked (although a much shorter one would have fit better) but the 17 pin - usb cable didn't fit at all. In fact you have to purchase the Lightning to USB adapter and the Lightning to AV adapter to put it all together and make it work. Fortunately the Lightning to USB adapter plugs right into the back of the 8500 which means I spent $50 for a standard HDMI cable. Check your head unit before you buy this to make sure you need the 17 pin to female cable before you buy and avoid spending unnecessary $$ on your install. Dealing with the extra length on the cable and keep a clean looking install was difficult. I ended up drilling out the back of the factory ashtray and storing the extra length of cable in it when I'm not using the AppRadio mode.

Pros: Made it work

Cons: Although the description for this package included the AVH-X8500BHS DVD receiver one of the two cables did not fit. If you are installing this same unit save yourself some money and buy the Apple Lightning to Digital AV Adapter (472LT2HDMI), the Apple Lightning to USB Cable (472LTN2USB) and a 24" -36" HDMI cable (depending on the length from the back of your receiver to your Iphone location).

Works Fine for AppRadio

Written By KenM, Wellesley, MA on Sunday, October 27, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bummed I had to spend more money to get AppRadio to work with Pioneer Head Unit. I would have chosen another brand that more seamlessly integrated with iPhone or just used the extra money I had to spend on the adapter kit to buy a unit with GPS built in. I had bought this one because I wanted to integrate Waze as GPS. I gave it 4 stars though because it works once installed. For the Pioneer Head Unit I bought (8500), you only really need to a HDMI cable and not the special one they include, so now I have the extra "special" cable just sitting here. I could have used a standard HDMI cable into the Apple HDMI adapter and I would have been fine. Gave it 4-stars because once you do get it connected, it does allow the iPhone 5 to work with AppRadio. But, wish I didn't have to drop more money a week after I bought the head unit to get it to actually work correctly.

Pros: Works a specified

Cons: Unfortunate that we need to spend more to get an iPhone 5 to work with the head unit. I understand not all of this under control of Pioneer since Apple changed the adapter after they designed the radio, but I would think they can do a better job in the next generation to get AppRadio to work with a simple USB connector instead of the required USB and HDMI cable AND the Apple HDMI adapter, etc.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Well the thing kind of Does what I wanted to do which is playing music from my phone. However it was a huge pain in the butt getting it set up and I still haven't figured everything out with it yet. The problem is not the actual product here but it is the interface on the pioneer avic Z150 BH. Pioneer needs to get on the ball and make some new firmware updates.

As for Crutchfield as always great customer service they helped me a lot when deciding what I need to get. Price of the item and the shipping was reasonable and I definitely had a great experience shopping with Crutchfield

Pros: The wire allow me to transfer my phone contacts into my new head unit

Cons: You need a new bunch of new wires just to plug into this other wire to get anything to work

Exactly what I ordered
