steering wheel remote

Written By Willie, Kentucky on Friday, October 23, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

this thing does work as advertised, the mounting system isn't as sturdy as I hoped it would be but it does mount the remote to the steering wheel, there is a bit of movement in it when pressing a button and I really don't like that, it doesn't look as nice as I hoped it would either on my steering wheel but it's mostly due to the design of my wheel, the remote itself is well made and it anchors well to the mount, the mount itself is lacking some on the design to attach it to the wheel, the rubber straps have a bit too much flex for my liking...

Pros: it does work, it is a bit safer when driving than fiddling with the radio controls, this puts the major controls at your finger tips

Cons: mounting system could be made stronger

Very nice product to add steering wheel control to older vehicles. Like all pioneer products this works seamlesslyrics with my head unit. Nice compact size and mounting system.

Pros: Buttons are layed out nicely and are easy to use.

Cons: Volume buttons on the backside should be a little larger.

I had one 10 years ago and it was great. This one has more features but feels rickidty and cheap. It doesn't work as well and is mounted in same general area as previous remote was. I will return this piece of Chinese crap. I think it is like the lotto, maybe you get a good one maybe you won't.

Pros: steering wheel controls

Cons: doesn't work as hoped

Just what I was hoping for. I just bought a 2008 Hummer H3. I like the factory stuff, but this is a simple truck and I really like it when I can add my own upgrades.

Pros: It worked okay with the old Pioneer deck that was in it, but even better with the 2014 deck that I just bought. The old deck seemed to have some dead zones. Not with the new one though. Having the controls on the steering wheel is way cool.

Cons: None so far.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

On the back of the Pioneer car stereo's included disc it showed that a steering wheel remote control was available to purchase to control it. I contacted Pioneer and they said no remote control existed for the aftermarket car stereo. I then contacted Crutchfield and sure enough they had the remote control available. All of the buttons that are needed to function the car stereo are on the remote including source and buttons for presets which also function as track and seek. Buttons on the back of the remote control the volume up or volume down. Placement of the various buttons is well thought out and as you use the remote more frequently you become more familiar with the placement; however it still would have been nice if the remote had been designed to light up for night driving.

Pros: Remote has buttons to control all functions of car stereo/ placement of buttons well laid out

Cons: Remote does not light up for night driving/Wish the fastening straps were a little thinner in width

Great Add-On For Older Vehicle

Written By John, Tennessee on Sunday, April 06, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a great add-on for vehicles that don't have steering wheel mounted audio controls. Installation is dead simple, just loop the straps around the steering wheel, through the holes, and pull them tight. Nothing else is needed to control a Pioneer head unit. The only reason for the 4-star review is that the clip that holds the remote to the base is pretty weak. I'll probably need to add some super glue or epoxy to hold it tight, since it has a noticeable wiggle after only a week of use.

Pros: Simple Installation Add steering wheel controls to any vehicle

Cons: Retaining clip on the base is weak.

So glad i purchased this.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Love this thing. I don't know what i did before I brought it. The trick to it staying in place is, when installing, have someone help you. Have them hold the anchor part in place while you pull the strap past the tightest position and snap it in. I have had mine for a year and have not had a problem with it getting loss.

Pros: Keeps your eyes on the road and Helps you to practice safety while driving.

Cons: The glare from the sun can disrupt the signal but only from certain angles.

Review for the Pioneer CD-SR100

Written By ReneW, Orange Co. CA. on Wednesday, September 11, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Pioneer CD-SR100 is a great remote, but it has a limited 2' range and on my Jeep, I could only install it on the right side of my steering wheel. I tried installing it on the left side and the Receiver DEH-X8500BH would not respond. I even replaced the battery, thinking that would help, but it just has a weak signal. After installing it on the right, I liked it and kept it. I WOULD AND HAVE RECOMMENDED THIS ITEM.

Pros: Easy to operate, full function remote, nice mount.

Cons: Weak signal strength.

Cons: Does not work any where on the steering wheel

Must Have Accessory

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Upgraded my 02 Tahoe stock audio to a Pioneer DEH-P9400BH. One of my required features was a wireless steering wheel remote.

The PIoneer head unit comes with a thin flat wireless remote which is smaller than a credit card; it works perfectly well, but I wanted a remote that would attach to my steering wheel, and operate in a very similar manner to current factory steering wheel remote controllers. Pioneer is the only company I found to offer such a product - CD-SR100. This is a small oval-shaped, infrared control that mounts to your steering wheel with a mounting adapter and two stretchable vinyl/rubber straps. The remote has function and volume controls - the latter located on the back side of the remote itself (very much like current GM controls). Every function available from the head unit is replicated on this remote. It operates from all points of the steering wheel radius (mine is mounted at the 4:00 position), and seems to be the perfect solution to my requirement of keeping my hands on the wheel.

This remote is simple to install, and requires no expertise or tools other than some scissors - to cut the straps down. Once installed it works very well. Only problem I've had is that the remote itself clips onto it's mounting bracket, but does so in a way that it never seems that secure. Wish it felt more solid in that mounting bracket.

If you don't have factory wheel controls, this is a must have accesory! Great product, Pioneer!

Pros: Operates all radio features Ergonomic design - comfortable to use

Cons: Remote isn't secure on its mounting bracket

not good

Not usable; IR signal too weak

Written By Rich, Boulder, CO on Friday, April 13, 2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The remote is only functional with a clear line of sight to the head unit (a new Pioneer 4400HD). When mounted on the steering wheel, the signal is blocked by the wheel itself. There is no opening or lens to spread the IR signal as on most remotes. I have a small car (Miata), and even though the wheel is very close to the receiver, it's not usable. Too bad this seems to be only aftermarket wheel remote Crutchfield is aware of. I'll be sending this back if tech support can't suggest any way to make it work.

Pros: Simple, easy to use.

Cons: Signal to weak to mount on wheel.

Needs Improvement

I ended up installing @ bottom of steering wheel because of other controls in the way. Sometimes it won't work, but since I'm usually using my left hand, I can put the right hand by my right knee to bounce the signal to the radio.

Pros: Good idea Works great (sometimes)

Cons: Should be RF signal with the same built into radio Volume buttons on back side are kinda worthless if you mount anywhere except the 2 to 4 o'clock location. Can't search thru music on usb drive, just jump to next song or folder

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Remote works great until you attach it to steering wheel. I read where someone mounted it upside down (turn it 180 degrees) and it worked great. I turned mine and they were right. Works great upside down. Looks weird, but at least I don't have to reach all the way to radio to make adjustments. Also noticed that it only works in about a 60 degree window. Move steering wheel to far to left (top) or to right (bottom) and remote does not funtion.

Pros: Hands get to stay on steering wheel.

Cons: Have to learn functions upside down. Ok as long as you don't have to read!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Read the previous reviews on this and figured I would take the chance because I liked the idea that this controller would give me much more function control of my stereo than my factory steering wheel radio controls. It did not work for me at all. If I pointed the remote at the radio while in my hand it worked great but when attached to the steering wheel - nothing. The radio in my Tundra is slightly recessed but not enough to think it wouldn't work at least most of the time. I tried every position I could on the steering wheel along with turning it upside down like one previous reviewer stated with no luck. The stereo already came with a handheld remote so back to Crutchfield it went for the PAC SWI-PS steering wheel control adapter. Now my factory steering controls are running my stereo like it was still the old one. Don't waste your time on this remote.

Pros: None since it did not do what it was supposed to.

Cons: Did not work. If your radio is set into your dash at all this probably will not work for you.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed relatively easily but comes with minimum instructions. Picture is not same as product, instead of one large strap there are two small ones. It takes some effort to pull the straps thru for a snug fit and then the challenge is to tuck them into the holder to get them out of the way.

I have the hand held remote for my Pioneer DEH P3800 MP and it works fine. I wanted a steering wheel remote to make it a no look option. This remote is marginal since it is not consistent in communicating with the radio even though it is just 2 feet from it.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I got this unit to work with a newly installed stereo (DEH-P6200BT) in my 1994
Nissan pickup. It worked perfectly for me & I'm glad I have it. In addition to basic
functions, I can also use it to answer incoming calls via the Pioneer's bluetooth
phone feature for even better "hands-free" operation.

Some have complained about the design of the Pioneer multi-control knob and
I see what they are referring to, but this steering wheel remote sort of helps with
this issue as numerous functions can be performed directly from this steering
wheel instead of messing with the multi-control knob on the head unit. Since
my truck is pretty old (1994) and pretty basic, I just assumed there was no way
to have any kind of steering wheel controls, but this unit made it possible. Also,
I can easily take it off if needed & if I want to put it into another vehicle.

I also suggest getting a steering wheel cover of some sort. I did this and it
helps conceal the SR100's attachment straps which then make it more
comfortable to drive & turn the wheel. Also protects the attachment strap from
possible sun damege. A wheel cover can be picked up at Target/Walmart for
about $10-15. As usual, Crutchfield support is top notch. Thanks

I bought this unit about 3 years ago after my wife's car was stolen - we got it back but never found the stereo remote. I love this thing! I am about to replace the stereo in my truck and am probably choosing a Pioneer stereo just because I want to get another of these remotes. The only problem I have ever had with this remote not working is when I have the wheel turned like when turning a sharp corner and try to press a button then. It must just be the line of sight is too far away then. But that is really no problem. My wife and I have really enjoyed this remote, and it was completely worth the money.

I installed in less than 5 minutes, it fits perfectly in the left side "cutout" where the radio
controls would be if the stock radio had any - mine is a 2006 and had none. I'm using a new
Pioneer DEH-P4200UB and it works flawlessly. It's one of the main reasons I bought this
HU - and for the satellite and bluetooth expandability. The buttons are easy to memorize and
now my daughter can use the HU remote from the passenger side!

my arm is in certain positions, it can block the remote, but most of the time it

"attenuate" button is great.

I spent a lot of time trying to get this remote to work correctly, not!!! It seems that when mounted on the wheel it does not have the needed angle to the head unit to work correctly. If I rotate it out about a half an inch it will work, but then it gets in the way while turning the wheel. It may work correctly on some vehicles, but not on my 2010 Tundra. It works just well enough that I did not send it back, but not what I expected.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Ok, I recently purchased this along with a new pioneer head unit, and this is without a doubt the biggest waste of money I have ever spent! When i first opened the unit, i was having difficulty getting this item to control my stereo while attached to my steering wheel (which is less than 16 inches from the front of my unit)I contacted crutchfield and they shipped me a replacement. Guess what? not any better. I have now attempted mounting this from every angle imaginable, and the result? it works about 25% of the time. One thing i did notice is that the unit seems to issue its signal from the base of the piece not its head, so even if you find a place to mount it that it will control your stereo, the fob is upside down and you will invariably hit the wrong buttons. I wished there was a way to give this item negative stars......a total waste of money!

How simple can it be?

Picked this unit up with my Pioneer Head Unit / Satellite Radio set. Used in a 2000 Chevy Silverado. Put the battery in it, used it with my hand to check operability and it was fine. Strapped it to the steering wheel and it was fine. Everything worked perfectly. The ONLY issue I had was that it slipped around the steering wheel a little. Obviously loose but I put it on during a cold day and the strap probably expanded a little. I just got this truck so I put a leather steering wheel cover on, covering the remote attachment strap and it's firmly in place now. This thing is great - especially the ATTENUATE feature. No more 'volume up/down' issues at the drive-through!

There was no listing for compatibility so I called Pioneer and asked them and this is what they said works for my avic-z2. Installation was easy and I haven't had any problems at all. I hooked it up just above the spoke at around 2 o'clock and it works perfectly. I haven't found a use for the function key yet. I mainly use the volume up and down and track back and forward buttons. Way easier than finding them on the head unit while I'm driving.

I just bought this for my 87 Shelby Lancer. I use it with a Pioneer DEH-P8600MP head unit. It works great and after using it for only 1/2 hour, I can't imagine not having it. I especially like the fact that I can keep my eyes on the road for simple functions and the attenuation button is great. It will even control my iPod. The only downside that I found so far is that it could be a little less bulky, and there is no ESC button to back out of menus.

I will be buying more of these for my other cars for sure. I should have bought one a long time ago. Well worth $40 in my opinion.

Pros: Nice to have controls on wheel. My head unit (DEH-P4900IB) doesn't have more than basic i-pod controls anyway, so not missing anything.

Cons: Fiddly Until the sweet spot is found. Heard 3 oclock good but my vehicle

Overall very happy.

Finding the sweet spot is the key. Found mine at 3 o'clock and direct sunlight will stop it from time to time & very cold days. I can live with all this but I do wish the device had a 'list' button so I can pull up ipod playlist. This is the only time I have to touch the radio to press the 'list' button

Works Great in '96 Grand Cherokee!

I purchased this remote to compliment my new Pioneer DEH-p3000IB. I mounted it at 3:00, positioned just above my cruise control buttons on the wheel. I was surprised by how "stock" the remote looks on my wheel. I use a steering wheel cover, the remote is mounted underneath it.

The remote works extrememly well except in direct sunlight, but it's very easy to simply shade the remote with my free hand. The direct sunlight only affects the remote on very rare occasions anyway.

The remote mounts very securely to the wheel and the controls are very intuitive. It is a must-have for satellite radio users!

For safety and convenience, this is the way to go.

Written By Monkeyracer, Lakehood, CO on Wednesday, February 27, 2008

I bought this to use with my Pioneer Premier DEH-P590iB, which is basically the same as the DEH-P5900iB sold here. I have it mounted in the 3 o'clock position, but have used it in almost all positions just to test it out, the only place it doesn't work is where the steering column completely blocks the signal (IR light.) If it's sunny, the IR light will be dissipated and may not work, but shading the remote usually helps. I've only had this problem once or twice in the last month and a few times before that, so overall it's a rare occasion that I'm traveling at that specific time of day in that specific direction that it completely blocks out the IR light.

The only downside I have with this is there is no pause button. (PGM on the standard remote) and if I'm listening to a CD or my IPOD, and get a phone call, I have to still use the original remote to pause the song. ATT works, but I listen to my music loud, and when it's on attenuate mode, it's still too loud to hold a cell conversation. It would also be better if it had an "ok" button (pressing the center of the round key on the original remote or the multi-function knob on the faceplate.)

The controls are intuitive and are quick to learn, each button is easy to touch-learn (you will be able to feel the difference between the buttons, rather than having to look at them) and the volume buttons on the back of the remote are large and easy to use.

I rated this a 5 because it is safer to use than the original remote, or no remote at all, and is way more convenient as well (especially when the loose remote falls under the seat and I used to have to fumble for it just to pause or ATT the song.)

It's easy to mount, but when I got my new car, the strap was cut to fit the old car, and is now too short for the new one. Zip ties or velcro will solve that though (hidden by my steering wheel cover anyways.)

I recommend this product to any one and everyone who has a compatible radio, and for those that don't, switch to pioneer, just so you can use this great product.

Having a stroke limits the use of my right hand, but using this steering wheel control allows me to keep my hand on the wheel while driving and to have full control of the radio at the same time,, which is great. The only thing I did not like about this control was the way the control used the plastic strap that hold it to the steering wheel. So I used the velcro from my old steering wheel control to secure it to the wheel,, which worked perfect.. I am VERY happy with the radio,, and the Steering wheel control to work it.. I would recommend this control to anyone needing a steering wheel control.

Transformed How I Control My HU

Written By Glenn, Pembroke Pines, FL on Tuesday, December 25, 2007

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

At first I was very disappointed when I realized that my DEH-6900UB head unit had almost no control buttons. I was completely used to surfing through preset radio stations by pressing the corresponding buttons. I found the supplied remote impractical because I had to pick it up and look at it to use it.

That all changed with this remote. Because the layout is more simplistic, I found it much easier to remember which buttons controlled what and where the buttons were.

As for the unit not always working in direct sunlight, I experienced that phenomenon one time. I was able to somewhat counter that by taking a cue from a review that appeared on another website which described taking the unit apart and drilling a small hole behind where the LED's are. I found this step necessary if I was going to mount the unit at four o' clock which I had to do since there is a big nub on the inside of my '05 Corolla steering wheel.

I'd recomend this remote with no hesitation.

Great item for the price

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This item is a great deal for the price. It mounts solidly to the steering wheel. It controls more items than I thought and works great. The only downfall is when the radio is exposed to direct sunlight. The remote will not transfer the signal. It gets kind of annoying when driving in certain directions.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I wasn't sure what to expect from this remote but boy am I satisfied with my purchase. I can operate every function of the Pioneer DEH-P4900iB I just installed and I have rarely even touched the HU for more than just changing CDs. The only time the remote does not work is in direct sunlight but all I have to do is shade it a little on the back side and it works like always. My son now wants to replace his stereo just so he can get a remote like mine. It's better than factory steering wheel controls I have seen since you can control everything. LOVE it!!!

Worth it

I drive a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 and I recently purchased this remote for my DEH-P77DH reciever. The remote is located at the 2 o'clock position, which I find to be ideal. Everything I need is located on the remote. I bought it because of the attenuate feature (the head unit doesn't have a button for this). The remote does everything, even turn on and off the radio.

Great Remote!

This remote came standard with the DEH-P86DHR head unit I purchased from Crutchfield in 1999. I've had it in my 1999 Malibu on the left side of the steering wheel at the 8 o'clock position because I'm left handed. The only time I've had trouble with this remote is when the batteries get low, but that is very infrequently.

I love this remote because I can mute, lower, and raise the volume easily since I enjoy drive-through dining on a regular basis.

Ignore all bad reviews

Written By Greg, Denver on Saturday, December 30, 2006

I have no idea what the people who gave this product a bad rating are thinking, but it's flawless. There are no problems with it staying on the mounting harness, and it's worked from all positions on my steering wheel (I did a test where I positioned it at each "hour" mark. I did this test in direct sunlight as well as shade). This is a must have piece of hardware.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this wireless remote for my Pioneer Cd/Sirius receiver and have had nothing but good times with it.
I installed it at the 2 O'clock position and it worked well with very little line of site problems.
Plus, love the ATT button on the remote since the one that came with my radio did not have a mute button.

Installed the little device in a ford excursion at or about the 3 o clock position, but to my suprise it works at the 6,9,12 o clock positions.I love it, i now have the freedom to control my pioneer, while keeping my hands on the steering wheel, my wife love's it so much ,she now drives the truck!!
I dont or have not seen why others have complained about it, works great for me.

Great way to update your vehicle

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased this remote to control my new DEH-P5800MP stereo. Installation was a snap. I do not have any issues with line of sight. All functions of the remote work perfectly. I have it installed at the 2:00 position on my '02 F150.

Once I installed the strapped and snapped the remote into the holder, it would not lock all the way down. It wouldn't pop out, but it wasn't fully secured either. All I did was slice a piece of the left over rubber strap and wedge it into the remote release. Can't even tell it's there and remote is fully secured.

This would not deter me from recommending this remote. Pioneer did an awesome job and now I feel like my whole truck is upgraded, not just the stereo.

Nice Job, Pioneer

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought this to complement the Pioneer DEH-P8600MP I had installed in my wife's 04 Chevy Tahoe.
Installation was a breeze, took all of 5 minutes. As long as you don't cut the wheel wrap too short, you can remove and re-mount at different locations very easily. However, you do have to cut it short enough that it falls behind the screw-on bracket, or else it will not sit flush against the steering wheel and could pop off.
Tested from four locations: 2, 4, 8, and 10 o'clock. Even at 8 o'clock, product worked more often than not, which is impressive considering it was quite lower than the radio and sightline obstructed by the steering wheel and this is an IR transmitter. Due to comfort and convenience of where my wife keeps her hands while driving, she settled on 4 o'clock and it has worked flawlessly. She's very happy with this purchase.

Must have product!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this remote for my DEHP9600MP in a 2002 Dodge Neon, and it works fantastic! I don't ever have any problems with it detaching when I don't want it to, and as long as it's level with or above the radio it works anywhere in my car. I have it at 3 o'clock on my steering wheel and it works no matter how far I have the wheel turned. It says it won't control some of the EQ functions but the only thing it doesn't control on my stereo is the OEL display, and I never change that anyways. Great product, good job Pioneer!

2000 Chevy Astro Xtreme

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This remote is the whole reason I purchased my DEH-P77DH (see my review). After reading the other reviews I took a chance and accessorized it with this deck and it works perfectly in a 2000 Chevy Astro environment. I have it mounted at 3o'clk with a leather steering wheel cover and it looks factory. Even turned the wheel till remote was at 9o'clk with the column in the way and it functioned without a problem. Pretty cool! This remote control's everything on this deck except for selecting pre-set EQ settings. Oh well, I'm still impressed with it. So much so that I plan to purchase a spare just incase! As for falling off the wheel, it hasn't yet and it feels firmly attached but I do use a little finesse. Hopefully this remote works for you cause it's such a convenience it ought to be standard on all vehicles.
Take it E-Z

surprisingly disappointing

Written By Robert, boston, ma on Friday, March 03, 2006

seeing the one bad review, but several good ones, i decided to take a shot and buy this remote.

it does not work well. it's operation was intermittent and inexplicable. at times, it would work flawlessly. 5 minutes later none of the buttons responded. 5 min later; back on track. it seemed to make no difference in sun, night, wheel position (tested it while parked, btw), or temperature.

i sent it back for a refund after a month of going insane.

it's a shame, because other pioneer products (including the 6700mp car receiver i bought this for) work so well, and have so much thought given to design and usability.

don't buy it. get the pioneer smart remote that you can mount, or just stick with the small remote that came with your head unit (if applicable). or better yet, get the $70 adapter that converts your factory steering wheel audio controls (if you have them) to be able to command a pioneer head unit as a wired remote.

Great little remote after you find the G-Spot

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

So I decided to pull the trigger on this remote as I was tired of taking my eyes off the road when messing with my DEH7500 head unit.

When I first received the remote I put it on my steering wheel at about the 4:30 position (if you look at your steering wheel like a clock, 4:30 would be in the SE corner of the wheel). At this position, I got very little functionality off the remote.

Through trial and error I found that the most optimal spot for it with my audio setup was 12:00. This impaired my ability to see my speedometer so I settled for 1:00 which is between the speedometer and fuel gauge. Although this is a weird place for it to be, it's what is optimal with my setup (Matrix '05 and Pioneer DEH7500). If you buy this remote, try placing it on different spots on your steering wheel until you find the remote's G-spot (a spot where functionality is optimal and gauge visitbility isn't too impaired). As people have mentioned above, "line-of-sight" is very important with this remote. Currently I'm tryin to reprogram it to work with both my car radio and my XM SkyFi portable unit. Great buy for the price, definitely a thumbs up.

Pioneer CD-SR100

This remote is great. I purchased it to compliment my Pioneer DEHP3700MP CD receiver and ipod interface. It makes controlling the ipod so easy. Install is a cinch. Once installed, you have all major controls at your finger tips without taking your hand off the wheel or your eyes off the road.

The remote works well on all but the sharpest of turns.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is the second one I have purchased, my freind bought the old receiver from me and wanted the remote as part of the deal. It is universal to the LEFT or RIGHT handed driver and works awsome on either side of the steering wheel. It also gives you all options from one of the smallest remotes on the market. Thus: Allowing you to keep your hand on the wheel close to your common driveing position, also increaseing safety because your more in control.A++ Thanks Pioneer and of course Crutchfield! :-)SJ

great product

Written By Matthew, Brooklyn NY on Monday, September 19, 2005

This remote does have its drawbacks but is still better then the original remote control.

It does have a slight trouble with working in direct sunlight but if it is in line with the radio front it works fine even in direct sunlight.

As for the unit falling off the wheel that is easily fixed with a small piece of paper towel stuffed under the button to remove the remote from the wheel no need to glue it to the base.

For it to work well it has to be mounted on the wheel at most at the 3 o'clock position basically as close to the hight of the head unit as possible. the infrared "beam" comes fron the whole remote so there is no best direction to point it. Just watch out for the shift handle on the steering column so it wont block the signal while you are in drive.

This remote is definately worth the money and very easy to install. It takes about 5 to 10 minutes to do so. The hardest part is learning the buttons on it, but who really needs anything but the volume?

Great idea, horrid execution

Written By Ron, KC, Mo on Tuesday, June 28, 2005

This remote has so much potential since it mounts on the actual wheel, but has 2 MAJOR flaws:

1) It's infrared, which means if the sun is shining on it or your receiver sensor, it doesn't work. O'yeah, infrared is line-of-site, yep, it doesn't work while you are going around long bends in the road.

2) That tiny little clip on the front is supposed to hold it onto the bracket. Ok, it holds it just fine until you use the volume buttons on the rear of the unit (which you is the entire reason you are buying this remote), then it pops out and lands on the floor. I finally glued mine to the bracket which worked great until I had to change the batteries.

Back to the drawing board Pioneer, we need a wired version of this remote that attaches firmly to the wheel and is a bit more integrated.
