Can't find your exact car?

Pioneer packed the DEH-2700 CD receiver with lots of the features you love, then slapped a price tag on it that's hard to beat! The detachable face, with its multicolor display and rotary volume knob, looks great in any dash. And this in-dash dynamo pumps out plenty of power (20 watts RMS x 4), so your tunes will sound strong.

You'll be impressed when you listen to your favorite FM and AM stations. Pioneer's Supertuner IIID, with its digital processing, offers up spacious stereo sound, top-notch station-grabbing selectivity, and ultra-clear reception.

To get your music sounding just the way you want it, take a spin through Easy EQ. It features five preset EQ curves for quick adjustments, plus a three-band parametric equalizer that lets you tailor the tone around your car's acoustics for natural sound. And if more power's on your agenda, you can add an amp to the set of preamp outputs.

Why replace your factory radio?

Two good reasons - sound quality and cool features. A new car stereo offers power that's superior to most factory radios, along with more sophisticated tone controls. And most car stereos offer built-in or optional features that add safety and fun to life in your car, including inputs for your iPod or MP3 player, Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free cell phone calls, satellite radio or HD Radio reception, and connections for building an audio system in your car.

Pioneer DEH-2700

For the money you can't go wrong with this unit. I installed this in my work beater just to have a radio that sounded half way decent in it and didn't exceed the value of the car. I was really impressed with the sound quality, even with the stock speakers. The new '06 models do have more features, but the one that replaced this at the same price didn't have a knob for the volume which I prefer over a touch control. Also can't go wrong buying from Crutchfield, great service, free install manuals and support if needed.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Before this, I had a Pioneer KEH-M8500 (circa 1992) with a SuperTuner IV that was a terrific head unit. Unfortunately the display was going bad and a new face plate was too expensive for such an old unit. I figured I'd buy another Pioneer. The SuperTuner III doesn't even come close to the IV. The bleed over from adjacent stations in areas where the FM band is crammed is beyond annoying, and distant stations are much tougher to pick up.

Also, I find the EQ settings very inflexible. What's the point in showing me multiple frequencies (e.g., 3k, 8k, 10k, 12k for highs) if adjusting the Q factor of one of them affects them all? I've had this unit less than a year, and I'm already considering replacing it. I probably won't buy another Pioneer if this one is an indication of the SuperTuner III's performance.

Installed this head unit in an 89 Chevy S-10 Blazer. Blazer has original 4 X 6 speakers in the dash and new Sony Explode 3 way speakers in the rear side panels just behind the doors. Paid $109 for the 2700 and it's worth every penny. Clean, snooth sound at every volume setting. If there is one flaw, it has too many features that you're continuously playing with as your driving down the highway. One neat feature I like is that you can isolate the bass notes to the larger rear speakers. They can be set up to only receive frequences less than 100 hertz or 140 hertz or 250 hertz. This makes music such as Rap or hip hop sound fabulous! It also makes me wanna by 6 X 9 sub-woofers to replace the normal 6 by 9s.
Overall , the unit is great . I rate it 5 out of 5. I love it! I have a C-5 Corvette with the 6 speaker Bose system, and I can tell you the that DEH-2700 in that old S-10 Blazer sounds better than the Bose.

1995 Ford E Series
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought this unit to use in an RV. The budget for the system was extremely tight and this unit fit the bill. So to speak. I am an Alpine man at heart, but the price was right, so I thought I'd give Pioneer a chance.

The unit could use a bit more power due the the sheer volume of air to move in an RV, but it isn't bad at all. Crisp highs and adequate lows really were a huge improvement over the OEM head unit. I gave it 5 out of 5 factoring in the price. For the money, you can't beat it!

This Head unit has some major power for the price. It could use a few features on it. This is a plain jane reciever but it gets the job done in my truck. Pioneer is always a safe bet on anything. I have always had good luck with these head units.

This HU is great for the price. It could use some additional features but it is good. Plenty of clean power although in my truck it starts clipping when I get it around 50/62 clicks up. That is with the equalizer set at L:0db, M:+3db, H:-3db.

Product Research

Easy EQ Curves: This model has "SUPER BASS", "POWERFUL", "NATURAL", "VOCAL", "CUSTOM", and "FLAT" preset EQ curves. The "CUSTOM" curve is one that you create and store in memory.

3-Band Parametric Equalizer: This unit includes a 3-band parametric EQ with Selectable Q Factor. You may select a low (40, 80, 100 or 160Hz), mid (200, 500, 1k or 2kHz) and high frequency (3k, 8k, 10k or 12kHz) to boost or cut within a range of -6 dB to +6 dB. The Q factor (slope of the boost or cut) may be selected from one of the following four options: 2N (narrow), 1N, 1W and 2W (wide). Selecting a narrow (steep) Q factor results in frequencies around the center frequency to be affected less by the boost or cut than they are with a wide Q factor. This feature is useful for taming frequency response problems caused by the dimensions, materials and speaker locations of a vehicle.

F.I.E. (Front Image Enhancer): This feature enhances the front image by cutting mid- and high-range frequencies to the rear speakers, limiting their output to low-range frequencies. You may select a cutoff frequency of 100, 160 or 250Hz.

Loudness Settings: Loudness compensates for deficiencies in the low and high frequencies at low volumes. You can select from three loudness contours:

  • Low: +3.5 dB boost at 100 Hz and a +3 dB boost at 10 kHz
  • Mid: +10 dB boost at 100 Hz and a +6.5 dB boost at 10 kHz
  • High: +11 dB boost at 100 Hz and a +11 dB boost at 10 kHz

Source Level Adjustment (SLA): This function lets you adjust the volume level of each source to prevent radical changes in volume when switching between sources. Settings are based on the volume level of the FM tuner, which remains unchanged. Each source can be independently adjusted from -4 dB to +4 dB.

Supertuner IIID AM/FM Tuner: The Supertuner IIID features Feed Forward Control, which avoids multi-path interference. This pre-detection of interference enables quick filter control and results in less distortion. In addition, the Supertuner IIID creates enhanced stereo during multi-path interference, unlike conventional tuners that collapse to mono. Digital processing reduces distortion, and improves Signal-to-Noise Ratio and stereo separation. Advanced analog technology improves signal processing sensitivity.

BSM (Best Stations Memory): BSM lets you automatically store the six strongest stations under preset buttons 1-6 of the currently tuned band.

CD-R/CD-RW Skip Function: Some CD-R/W recorders allow you to assign skip ID tags to tracks that you never want to hear. When a track has been assigned a track skip ID, compatible units will recognize the skip ID information and skip over that track. This player recognizes track skip IDs, so CD-R and CD-RW discs with skip ID information will be played back as intended.

Display Illumination/Clock Display: When the Clock Display has been turned on, pressing and holding the source button turns off audio output, but the clock display and face/button illumination remain on. When the Clock Display has not been turned on, pressing and holding the source button turns the unit off completely. This unit's illumination and clock are "keyed" only when the Clock Display has been turned on.
