Why replace your factory radio?

Two good reasons - sound quality and cool features. A new car stereo offers power that's superior to most factory radios, along with more sophisticated tone controls. And most car stereos offer built-in or optional features that add safety and fun to life in your car, including inputs for your iPod or MP3 player, Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free cell phone calls, satellite radio or HD Radio reception, and connections for building an audio system in your car.

Well i have owned this stereo for the past 6 yrs. It has been the best unit ive have every used. Not only was the display awesome but the ajustment for my subs and my highs was perfect. If i had one suggestion is they do a remake on this model and the only thing they should add is a usb port and bluetooth. Other than that it is flawless...

Awsome unit for the price!
Really like the ability to dim the display at night and change the brightness for daytime automaticly.

Only reason for 4 stars is the unavailability of a seperate wire for the power antenna lead. My old HU (Sony) had a seperate lead so the antenna didnt raise with the cd player on.

Clean look, awesome sound quality, great adjustments and absolutely love the fact that you have a subwoofer control for when you just want to relax without hearing a lot of bass. I've owned multiple Pioneers, Kenwoods, Alpines, and JVC decks and I keep coming back to Pioneer.... for a reason.

You can't go wrong with this unit.

Only thing I'd ask for more is a longer loop on the entertainment screen savers.

WOW!! I have bought and installed car audio equipment for the past 27 years. This is one outstanding CD player. Full featured, ready out of the box, and the displays are awesome. My factory speakers sounded better than ever, but once I put in some Infinitys, it was truly an experience. I listen to a wide range of music, from metal to disco, and the quality of sound is unmatched.
The excellent service I get from Crutchfiled makes it even better!!

WOW!!! if your in the market for an HU don't even look at any of the other brands. I've been a fan of Pioneer for over 10 years and have owned probably 5 different HU's this unit by far blows every other unit I have ever seen away. The display is great the annimation built in for the price can't be beat. The sound AWESOME!! I hooked it up to my 4 Pioneer (thanks Crutchfield) 6x8's in my Ford Ranger and Holy cow what a huge difference. Now I just have to save up for a sub to put behind my seat that I will be able to control for the HU and I'm set. Thanks as always to Crutchfield for the easy to install instructions and the free extras. Who need an install shop when we have these guys!

Beauty and power

Well i just bout this unit a day ago. So far so good. Since this is my first unit I cant compare. But I would have to say that this Unit is powerfull with Amazing Looks. I have researched lots of units for my 98 accord coupe. And i never heard my stock speakers sound this good. And its almost like I have an 8 inch sub in the back.

Pros - This unit will provide you with many options that I have still yet to use all

- There are many beatiful looking units out there. And this is one of the best. Not to flashy but will draw attention

- This thing is very user freindly. I almost no how to work everything on it. Not to complicated unit.

CONS - The buttons are a lil too small. Even the remote will pretty mush solve that problem. There are some things better done manually.

- It can distract you. The unit animations can distract you at times. There amazing and above average detaled. Changes from dark blue to light blue. Ill probly get used to it.

I reccomend this unit to peopel who want a powerful unit with great looks.

I bought this HU to replace my factory single CD unit in my 2001 Ford Escape. Crutchfield included a free repeat free Ford Wire Harness as well as the receiver assembly making installation much easier. The only difficult part of the installation was removing the factory unit using the provided DIN tool. But once the new Pioneer was in, it made all the effort worth while. The receiver assembly makes it look like a professional installation and tailor made fit.

I was looking for a unit that would play MP3's so I wouldn't have to purchase a CD-Changer. I am very pleased with this unit as it has more bells and whistles than I will ever need including Sat Radio ready, and a remote control. The menus are intuitive. I also like the detachable face feature for obvious reasons. It plays more CD formats than I will ever use. I managed to squeeze 10 of my favorite albums using MP3 format onto a single 700Mb CD at 192Kbps.

I was also looking for a receiver that wouldn't need external amps. This thing puts out 50W X 4 - plenty for me.

My only complaint is that the Organic display flashes from solid to normal while "ON" which is distracting during night driving. There may be a setting to correct this that I am not aware of.

Overall a great buy!

Completely worth it

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

When I went around to the local shops looking for a stereo, there were only a few things I was looking for. Functionality, design, and most importantly, sound quality (sound and build).
My friends who are car audio gurus all suggested the Pioneer or Alpine decks. Man am I glad I went with the Pioneer. It has a very solid feel to it. The buttons are not flimsy, and the flap face clicks tight every time I close it. Even the push out volume knob is holding up great. Oh, did I forget to mention that its gorgeous? Looks great on my dash. Easy to read in night or day, direct light or no light.
As far as sound quality, it made my factory speakers come alive. Who would have known how good a $5 speaker can sound? I'm actually about to order some replacements ^_^. But for you audiophiles, it has quite a number of features that I don't even really know what they do. Just plain and simply sounds good and clean.
The design of this thing is braindead easy. The controls are logical, and the mp3 folder system is great. Loads mp3s as fast as CD tracks, and I think the mp3s actually sound better. Very functional and easy to use.

5 stars for Pioneer, and 5 stars for Crutchfield.

This model exceeded my expectations. The sounds is specacular, the controls are intuitive, and the display is really cool. My daughter loves to watch the aquarium! It is silly, but those extras make all the difference. There are more audio filters and parameter adjustments than I have a need for, and you can tailor the sound in so many ways it is unbelievable. It makes my old stock Ford stereo sound like a couple of tin cans connectd by a string. I would recommend this model to anyone, especially for the price.

Not bad for a $200 unit...

Written By DaleJr#8, Orlando, FL on Sunday, October 16, 2005

After shopping around for about a week or so and trying out several units in my $200 (+/- $20) range, I decided to give the 6700 a shot to see what all the hype is about. All I can say is that 99% of the things that you've read from other reviews is true. This is one nice unit that wont break the bank too much. The unit itself has very nice, crisp and clean sound output. On top of it having very nice sound in general, it also offers lots and lots of extra features and the unit also looks great in action. Overall though I am very happy and impressed with this unit and I really don't think I'm going to need to buy that small 4 channel amp after all.

Just purchased this unit and have never installed a CD Receiver in a car before. Crutchfield made it SOOO easy to install by providing very clear instructions on everything. The unit itself is great! I replaced the unit on my Nissan Xterra and it has made a world of difference! I also purchased the AUX cable for it and my IPOD is working fine too.

Good bang for the buck

Written By sun, Fairfax, VA on Monday, October 03, 2005

I purchased this unit thinking it would be a decent entry model for a stock system. I was wrong. This unit is better than most Alpines on the market right now. And for $220 or less, you cant find a better deal. I only have a few complaints. First, the tuner is not as good as my old Alpine 9835. I don't really mind the static since I never listen to the radio. Second, the sound is hard to tune to my speakers. The CDA-9835 was far better off in tuning a system. Third, no faceplate case. Why make it detachable if you can't put it in a case. Might as well follow Eclipse' models and have a ESN built in. This is the perfect unit if you're not a stereo nut.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was looking for a mid-priced head unit with a little punch, and after reading the user reviews of the DEH-P6700MP here on Crutchfield's website I took the plunge. I could not be any happier with this unit! Not only are the features extensive and easy to use, but the bass response that it added to my existing Polk speakers over the factory head unit is amazing! MP3s and WMAs play without a hitch, and the display is functional and attractive. As always, kudos to Crutchfield for the fast delivery and excellent installation instructions.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I knew I wanted the Pioneer product for its tuner, and CD quality. My install was in a custom overhead console. When I looked at the many different models of Pioneer and other brands of decks, I found that the Organic EL display is one of very few that you can actually see from below the unit. Of course the sound, features and ease of use are what I expected out of the Pioneer product. Well above any other deck I have ever had. And with Crutchfields tech help I was able to set up, even my odd install, in minutes.

Great deck but I can't believe no one commented about the lack of a case for the faceplate. What good is a detachable face if there is no case to put it in. Very frustrating. Other than that, the deck is great, especially for the price.

Great item.

Written By Dice, Albuquerque, NM on Friday, August 19, 2005

I have a '04 Hyundai Elantra and it took me about an hour to get everything going. I was amazed at the difference it made compared to the factory reciever even with factory speakers. Although it distorts at high volumes, that should be fixed with both an amp and new speakers.

I can spend hours messing around with all of the unit's customazation features. Definitely a nice feature for people like me who loves messing with audio electronics.

The unit looks really cool, especially at night. It says that the display is easily readable even during the day, but if the sun is shining on the unit, it's really hard to see anything.

My only minor complaint is that with the unit's pretty high screen resolution, it should have enough space to display every mp3 and wma ID3 tag information, but it doesn't. You have to push the DISPLAY button and cycle thru them one by one.

Overall, a great item. Kudos to Pioneer on this one.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit is Awesone! The ability to play mp3 CD's still blows me away. It will probably take some time to get the unit set up properly for your specific system, but well worth it. Choosing the proper bass frequency to boost with the EQ settings was truly key for the perfect sound. You can also select mid and high frequencies to adjust. Gives plenty of control over the speakers and subwoofer right from the remote. I found that the preset EQ curves were simple to use, but for the perfect sound, take the time to make your own curve. I would definitely buy this unit again.
Crutchfield's service is amazing. The free wiring adapters and install accessories help everything go smoothly.
I drive a Chevy 1500 reg. cab with 2-way 4x6" in dash and 12" subwoofer on 150W RMS. Killer highs and kickin' bass.

Pioneer is the way to go!!

Written By Ryan Walker, Rochester, MN on Friday, August 12, 2005

you REALLY get your money's worth with this head unit. i bought the cheap kenwood kdc-128, and it was way too underpowered and 'hollow' sounding. i had it swapped out and decided to shell out an extra $100 for the pioneer and it was definitley the way to go. this head unit runs circles around the kenwood. pioneer head units have a great reputation in my city, and i'm jumping on the bandwagon. powering my 2 kenwood 5-1/4 speakers in front and 2 kenwood 6x9 speakers in the rear, this thing really struts it's stuff.

This is an excellent head unit. I had already installed Infinity Reference
6 1/2 components in the doors, 6 1/2 2-ways in the back doors, and a 10" Infinity sub. They sounded good with the factory radio, but now they sound outstanding! This radio provides so many features to fine tune the music to how you like it. Just awesome. And Crutchfield's tech

Killer radio. The DEMO mode (REVERSE mode) got me crazy until support explained how to turn it off. With that done, it works great. I really like the ability to burn a CD of MP4's in folders and use the button to jump from songs within the folder or from folder to folder. I get about 8 or 9 full CDs on ONE CD this way. I use the EAC program to rip 'em on the PC. Great deal for the price.

crutchfield & pioneer never fail to impress me

Written By Robert, somewhere near boston, ma on Thursday, June 30, 2005

i'm probably going to sound like a broken record here, but here goes: it looks better than most anything else, but is not too flashy. blends nicely in my dash.
sounds phenominal. lots of customizable sound options to get things to sound perfect. performance is exceptional.
the button layout, design, and function are superb. (it's symmetrical for one thing) the buttons do a lot of things with ease, and it's easy to figure out without cracking the manual. that's the mark of good research and design (which is usually the case with pioneer recievers).
mp3 access is fast. very fast. that seemed to be a common complaint in the past with mp3 decks, that they take a while to read the cd initially and take too long between tracks. this pioneer does not suffer from that. also some people say that the OEL display washes out in sunlight. it does not. my digital dash washes out before the pioneer display. (those people might not be aware that the brightness is adjustable in both the dimmed and non-dimmed mode)
and it has a remote! a nice, simple, credit card size, remote. no more long reaches to the radio. (i'm not being sarcastic- i drive a crown vic and the radio is a mile away from the driver's reach)
i may just pick up another for the wife's car.

Awesome reciever

Written By Cecilia, San Francisco Bay Area, CA on Saturday, April 23, 2005

This is such an awesome reciever! I put it in my '93 Nissan Hardbody with the stock speakers and through its EQ and other customizable features it even makes those speakers sound decent without even using an external amp. I love the screen!!! It looks great all the time. This has everything I need and more, including the most important part of my decision: the iPod adapter. I don't want to have to carry 100+ CD's with me all the time, my iPod has all the music I could ever want and being able to listen to it in the car is sweet. Definitely a no-brainer: if you have a budget around $200, GET THIS RECIEVER!

Solid Deck For The Money

Written By Steve, Columbus, OH on Monday, April 18, 2005

No doubt about it, for the money, this is an excellent receiver. I have Pioneer speakers on the way this afternoon, but even with the stock speakers in my '02 Taurus, the audio is 10 times better. More bass, more clarity, and more volume. I suspect that when the speakers come it's going to really kick some butt.

Why I gave this product 4--not 5--stars: I've only had the thing installed for a couple of days but already there are some annoyances. The biggest problem with this unit is that the display is impossible to read in heavy sunlight; additionally, sunglasses seem to make it difficult to read as well. So when it's broad daylight, you get hit twice as hard because it's hard to read in the sun anyway, AND you'll be wearing sunglasses. You can turn the brightness of the display up slightly higher than it comes out of the factory so that will help a little, but I suspect it may still be difficult.

Also, it's annoying that you can't eject the CD without the switched power on.

Setting up the receiver options (the main options, not the audio) requires turning off the receiver completely; they cannot be set while you are playing music.

Otherwise, this is a sweet unit. Though I don't have an external amp or sub, if you do, there are also lots of easy options for customizing your RCA output. It sounds superb, and the display looks AWESOME in the morning/afternoon/night. I liked the 7-band EQ that my previous Sony had, but frankly this 3-band adjustable EQ is quite sufficient.

Good buy for the money!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this product because I wanted to have an MP3 player as well as an auxiliary input for my satellite tuner. Originally, I purchased a PIE aux input converter for my factory stereo. It only worked for a day. So I decided to upgrade my factory stereo to an aftermarket stereo. I chose this Pioneer based on its simple operation (it's got a rotary volume control), and because I felt it would blend well with my dash. I also felt that Pioneer makes some of the best head units in the market. I received my order two days after calling Crutchfield. Jenny was helpful and a joy to converse with. I received everything I needed for installation. Installation went smoothly. I did not have a problem. As I figured, the unit looks great on the dash. It looks professionally installed, and it also sounds great. It is more powerful than the factory stereo, and the sounds are cleaner. The speakers in my car are factory original but now they sound cleaner and louder than before. My regrets.... I lost my cassette player, the big buttons, and the rotary tuning. There are some static when I listen to the radio where as there was none with the factory stereo. My car came with a diversity antenna that has two antenna connections in the back of the factory stereo. I only connected one to the aftermarket stereo as there is no other connections for the other antenna. However, the auxiliary input takes the place of the cassette, and tuning with the Pioneer is quite quick. You just can't have it all. Overall, I am happy with my purchase.

WOW! I had been looking for a new stereo for my '02 Nissan Frontier and read the reviews on this Pioneer unit. I had owned Pioneer in the past and knew of the qualty so I decided to try it. It took me about 3 hours total to install it. It took longer to remove the dash trim than to actually install the unit. And the sound, well it is unbelievable! Even with my factory speakers it is kickiin'. I like the fact it has two operational modes that allow me operate it with all the whistles and bells or just with the basics. It has features that everyone can like and the price? Well I figured I saved close to $100.00 buying it through Crutchfields. You won't be dissatified with this unit!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am very impressed with the Pioneer CD player that I bought from Crutchfield a few years ago, so I decided to stick w/ them for my new vehicle. I had decided early on that I wanted a player that would play MP3's, but I have never owned one before.

This Pioneer does not disappoint! It makes the factory speakers in my car sound 100s of times better than the stock unit. It plays my MP3s flawlessly, the tuner pulls in the weak signal from my favorite station, and it looks great too! I bet I haven't even discovered half of what I can do w/ this.

A bit of a warning though, it is sometimes easier to watch the screen animations than the road...!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this unit after reading the reviews as it seemed like the most feature packed unit for the price available and I have not been disappointed.

I was looking for a unit to use with Sirius as the upgrade cost to add the hidden sirius unit to my new truck was more than the cost of this head unit and the Sirius unit plus I also picked up the great steering wheel remote which is the best add-on I have ever had, and it gives you factory like control for a whole lot less.

I have had 5 friends buy the same configuration after playing with mine.

You won't go wrong with this unit

Excellent deck

Written By Rudy, Greeley, CO on Friday, March 04, 2005

Purchased this deck based on the few recommendations on this forum. I owned a Pioneer many years ago, and have since owned many Sony, Panasonic, and Kenwood brands. I would say this Pioneer bests them all in the same price category. I can't beleive the features found in this supposedly "mid" range unit. The sound produced by this little guy is clean and powerful. The features are easy to navigate and the layout is very neat and symmetrical. I can't imagine that anyone would be disappointed with this model for the money. Glad I purchased this unit, everything so far is above my expectations.

The one thing that really stood out for me is the unit's ability to very quickly read MP3 discs. Other MP3 capable units that I've owned seemed to take excessively long to "load" the discs. Playback would be delayed and switching tracks was a tad slower than when using regular redbook audio discs. This Pioneer doesn't seem to have any delay. I loaded an MP3 disc with 12 folders on it and it started to play the disc immediately. Switching tracks or folders are just as fast as a regular audio CDs. I guess manufacturers are getting good at doing digital audio. It's a big difference from my first MP3 deck from 5 years ago.

If you're thinking about this Pioneer, don't hesistate. I am confident that you will not be disappointed.

The sound is out of this world. I have XM. The stock radio in my Saturn ION just did not cut it. After reviewing several radios at several dealers, I decided on Crutchfield and the DEH-P6700MP. My XM is 100% better.

With Crutchfield's helpful guides the installation went off with out a hitch. I did have a couple of questions. The technical support was fantastic and quick. Lucy, the sales rep that answered a few questions for me was most helpful.

This is Absolutley the best receiver you could buy for your car or truck. The graphics are stunning and the sound is incredible. I have owned a pioneer product before, but this model tops that by far. It does everything that a car receiver should do. You wont regret your purchase!

Deep Blue OEL Display: The deep blue OEL (Organic Electroluminescent) display features incredible brightness, clear readability, wide-angle viewing and full-motion 3D graphics. Because OEL creates its own electroluminescent light, its brightness is resistant to washing out in sunlight.

Entertainment Display Modes: You can choose from the following Entertainment Display Modes:

  • Background Visual: In Background Visual mode, you can select one of the following background visuals: Background Visual 1 (moving horizontal lines of light), Background Visual 2 (grid where the squares illuminate alternately), Background Visual 3 (moving patterns of light), or Background Visual 4 (level meter with moving geometric shapes).
  • Level Indicator: In Level Indicator mode, you can select one of the following level indicators: Level Indicator 1 (two analog VU meters) or Level Indicator 2 (four lines of light that move with the music).
  • Movie Screen: In Movie Screen mode, you can select one of the following movie screens: Movie Screen 1 (vehicles racing through the city streets) or Movie Screen 2 (swimming dolphins).
  • Entertainment Clock: In Entertainment Clock mode, the unit displays the clock surrounded by moving shapes.

Display Brightness: The display brightness can be adjusted from 0 to 15.

Demo Modes: This unit has a Reverse Demo Mode and a Feature Demo Mode. In Reverse Demo Mode, if you do not perform an operation for a period of 30 seconds, the display begins reversing colors. It continues reversing colors every 10 seconds until a button is pushed. When the unit is turned off, the Feature Demo Mode is activated. The Feature Demo Mode displays the unit's different features and capabilities using moving graphics.

MOSFET50 Internal Amplifier: This receiver is equipped with a 50 watts x 4 (peak) MOSFET amplifier for low distortion, high power output.

Satellite Radio Tuner Compatible: This unit can control an optional Pioneer XM or SIRIUS tuner (sold separately).

Easy EQ Curves: This model has "SUPER BASS", "POWERFUL", "NATURAL", "VOCAL", "CUSTOM", and "FLAT" preset EQ curves. The "CUSTOM" curve is one that you create and store in memory. A separate "CUSTOM" curve can be created and stored in memory for each source.

EQ-EX: This feature allows you to boost the current EQ setting for even more powerful sound.

3-Band Parametric Equalizer: This unit includes a 3-band parametric EQ with Selectable Q Factor. You may select a low (40, 80, 100 or 160Hz), mid (200, 500, 1k or 2kHz) and high frequency (3.15k, 8k, 10k or 12.5kHz) to boost or cut within a range of -6dB to +6dB. The Q factor (slope of the boost or cut) may be selected from one of the following four options: 2N (narrow), 1N, 1W and 2W (wide). Selecting a narrow (steep) Q factor results in frequencies around the center frequency to be affected less by the boost or cut than they are with a wide Q factor. This feature is useful for taming frequency response problems caused by the dimensions, materials and speaker locations of a vehicle.

Selectable Bass and Treble Cut-off Frequencies: The cut-off frequencies for the bass and treble controls can be set independently of the 3-band parametric equalizer adjustments. The bass cut-off frequency can be set to 40Hz, 63Hz, 100Hz or 160Hz. The treble cut-off frequency can be set to 2.5kHz, 4kHz, 6.3kHz or 10kHz. The bass and treble controls have an adjustment range of -6 to +6.

Adjustable Loudness: You can select "Low", "Mid" or "High" for different levels of loudness compensation.

Source Level Adjustment (SLA): This function lets you adjust the volume level of each source to prevent radical changes in volume when switching between sources. Settings are based on the volume level of the FM tuner, which remains unchanged. Each source can be independently adjusted from -4 dB to +4 dB.

High-pass Filter: When you don't want sound in the subwoofer frequency range output from the front and rear speakers, you may activate the built-in high-pass filter. You may select a filter frequency of 50Hz, 80Hz, or 125Hz.

Subwoofer/Non-fading Preouts: In addition to the front preamp outputs, there is one set of outputs that may be set for "subwoofer" or "non-fading" output. When set to "non-fading", the signal is full range and the output level is user selectable from -6 to +6. When set to "subwoofer", the outputs are non-fading, and they may be set for normal or reverse phase, 50Hz/80Hz/125Hz low-pass output, and the level is user selectable from -6 to +6.

Rear Channel Output: You can choose to use the rear channel speaker output for full-range speakers or subwoofers. If you select "subwoofer", you can connect a 4-ohm subwoofer directly to each rear speaker lead without using an external amplifier.

Supertuner IIID AM/FM Tuner: The Supertuner IIID features Feed Forward Control, which avoids multi-path interference. This pre-detection of interference enables quick filter control and results in less distortion. In addition, the Supertuner IIID creates enhanced stereo during multi-path interference, unlike conventional tuners that collapse to mono. Digital processing reduces distortion, and improves Signal-to-Noise Ratio and stereo separation. Advanced analog technology improves signal processing sensitivity.

MP3/WMA Playback: This unit can play MP3/WMA files recorded on CD-ROM, CD-R, and CD-RW discs in ISO9660 Level 1/Level 2, Joliet, and Romeo formats. MP3 files with a bit rate from 8-320 kbps, WMA files with a constant bit rate from 48-320 kbps, and WMA files with a variable bit rate from 48-384 kbps are supported.

Compression and BMX Functions: Using the "COMP" (compression) and "BMX" functions, you can adjust the playback quality of the CD player. Each function may be set to one of two levels or off. The "COMP" function compresses the audio signal to eliminate distortion caused by the imbalances between the loudest and softest sounds when played at high volumes. The "BMX" function controls sound reverberations to give playback a fuller sound.

CD-R/CD-RW Skip Function: Some CD-R/W recorders allow you to assign skip ID tags to tracks that you never want to hear. When a track has been assigned a track skip ID, compatible units will recognize the skip ID information and skip over that track. This player recognizes track skip IDs, so CD-R and CD-RW discs with skip ID information will be played back as intended.

Disc Title Memory: Titles of up to 10 characters each can be entered into memory for up to 48 discs. When a compatible changer is connected, titles of up to 10 characters each can be entered into memory for up to 100 discs in the changer.

Optional Aux Input: When used with item 130CDRB10 (sold separately) or item 130CDRB20 (sold separately), this unit can accept input from an auxiliary source, such as a portable CD or MD player. When item 130CDRB10 is used, a CD changer cannot be connected to this unit. Item 130CDRB20 allows you to connect an optional Pioneer CD changer and an auxiliary source to this unit.

Dimmer Feature: When the illumination wire of this unit receives power and the dimmer feature has been turned on in the "Initial Setting" menu, the display will dim to a preset level. When the power and constant wires are connected and the illumination wire is supplied with voltage (when you turn your lights on), the button illumination remains on even if the unit is turned off completely.

Warning Tone: If the front panel is not detached from the head unit within four seconds of turning off the ignition, a warning tone will sound. This feature can be turned On or Off.

Changer Controls

ITS (Instant Track Selection) Programming: The ITS function can be used to program automatic playback of up to 99 tracks per disc for up to 100 discs. With changers sold before the CDX-P1250 and CDX-P650, up to 24 tracks can be stored in the playlist.

Disc Title Memory: Titles of up to 10 characters each can be entered into memory for up to 100 discs.

Disc Title List: This feature allows you to display disc titles that you have entered. From the list, you can select a disc for playback.

CD Text Display: When used with a CD Text compatible Pioneer CD changer, this unit will display the titles of CD Text encoded discs that are played in the changer. When playing a CD Text disc on a CD Text compatible changer, you cannot switch to the Disc Title Input mode. CD Text disc titles, artist names and track titles longer than 16 characters may be scrolled to reveal the entire string of text.

CD Sound Quality Adjustment: Using the "COMP" (compression) and "DBE" (dynamic bass emphasis) functions, you can adjust the playback quality of the changer. Each function may be set to one of two levels or off. The "COMP" function compresses the audio signal to eliminate distortions caused by the imbalances between the loudest and softest sounds when played at high volumes. The "DBE" function boosts bass frequencies to give your music a more full sound.

Note: For these functions to work, they must be supported by the Pioneer CD changer.

DVD Operation: This unit can control an optional Pioneer DVD player or DVD changer.

Display Illumination/Clock Display: When the Clock Display has been turned on, pressing and holding the source button turns off audio output, but the clock display remains on. When the Clock Display has not been turned on, pressing and holding the source button turns the unit off completely. This unit's clock is "keyed" only when the Clock Display has been turned on. When power is supplied to both power wires and the illumination wire is not receiving voltage, nothing illuminates if the Clock Display has not been turned on and the unit is off.

Note: When the power and constant wires are connected and the illumination wire is supplied with voltage (when you turn your lights on), the button illumination remains on even if the unit is turned off completely.
