Features
Disc Compatibility: The
DVH-P5000MP built-in DVD player can play pre-recorded DVD-Video and CDs, as well
as DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD-R, CD-RW, Video CD, and MP3 files recorded on CD-ROM, CD-R
or CD-RW.
Dolby Digital/DTS Compatible: This
unit can play DVDs encoded in Dolby Digital and DTS. To enjoy 5.1-channel
surround sound with this receiver requires the addition of the optional
DEQ-P7000 Multi-channel Audio Processor to decode the Dolby Digital, DTS and
Dolby Pro Logic soundtracks. The digital bitstream is output through the unit's
proprietary optical digital output.
Multi-color LED Display: The
DVH-P5000MP features a multi-color LED display with an 8-character alphanumeric
readout for tuner frequency/presets, disc/track numbers and CD Text/MP3 ID Tag
information. Two semi-circular segmented level indicators on each end of the LCD
display can be set for one of four patterns: Level Indicator 1 (segments
lighting from bottom toward the top with the music), Level Indicator 2 (segments
lighting from the center toward the top and bottom), Level Indicator Full (all
segments lit), Level Indicator Off (all segments off). The clock display can be
turned on or off if desired.
DVD Controls: In
addition to basic playback functions (Play, Stop, Reverse, Fast Forward, Pause,
Chapter skip, etc), this unit can also access the following DVD playback
functions:
- Specifying title or chapter (direct
access with remote)
- Slow Motion and Frame-by-frame
playback
- Multi-language audio and subtitles
- Multi-angle viewing
- Disc, title, and chapter repeat
- Aspect ratio selection (Letterbox,
PanScan, 16:9)
- Parental Lock (with password)
XM-Satellite Ready: This
unit has controls for an optional Pioneer XM Satellite Radio tuner. With the
GEX-P910XM XM tuner, this unit will display 8 characters at a time and scroll up
to 16 characters of data, such as artist names, song titles, program titles,
etc. Note: Receiving XM Satellite Radio programming also requires a
compatible antenna and a subscription.
MP3 Playback: This
unit can play back MP3 files recorded on CD-ROM, CD-R or CD-RW discs in ISO9660
Level 1 or 2, Romeo or Joliet formats. Compatible bit rates range from 8-320
kbps, with 128 kbps recommended. This unit is compatible with ID3 tags, and will
display recorded folder/file names, track titles, artists names, album titles,
recording bit rate and comments.
Dual Zone Capability: The
DVH-P5000MP has separate audio and video outputs for two (front and rear) video
monitors. Pressing a single button on the remote allows you to watch a DVD/Video
CD on the rear monitor regardless of whether DVD (built-in DVD player) is
selected as the source or not.
Dimmer Feature: This
unit is equipped with a wire that Pioneer calls an illumination lead, however,
it acts as a dimmer lead. When the illumination wire of this unit receives power
and the dimmer feature has been turned on in the Function menu, the display will
dim to a preset level. When the power and constant wires are connected and the
illumination wire is supplied with voltage (when you turn your lights on), the
button illumination remains on even if the unit is turned off completely.
Supertuner IIID: This
unit has a Supertuner IIID for superior AM/FM reception. You can store up to 6
station presets for each band (AM, FM1, FM2 and FM3). These presets are
displayed in a list on the screen for selecting the station you want to listen
to. The tuner's sensitivity is adjustable from 1-4 for FM and 1-2 for AM. The
unit's Best Station Memory (BSM) lets you automatically store the 6 strongest
stations on the selected band.
Sound Focus EQ (SFEQ): The
Sound Focus EQ clarifies the sound image of vocals and instruments through the
use of "focused" seating positions. You can select different SFEQ
settings: FRT1 boosts the treble on the front outputs and the bass on the rear
outputs, FRT2 boosts both treble and bass on the front and the bass on the rear
outputs. For both FRT1 and FRT2 settings, you can choose a high or low effect.
If you want to further adjust the settings left or right, you can save the new
setting as a custom setting.
Easy EQ
Curves: This
model has "Super Bass", "Powerful", "Natural",
"Vocal", "Custom 1", "Custom 2" and
"Flat" preset EQ curves. The "custom" curves are ones that
you create and store in memory; a different "Custom 1" curve may be
set for each source, and the "Custom 2" curve is one that will be the
same for all sources.
EQ
Compensation (EQ-EX): The
EQ-EX compensates for each equalizer curve, plus you can adjust bass and treble
for each source when the "Custom" curve is selected. The EQ-EX can be
turned on/off in the menu, but you cannot use EQ-EX and SFEQ functions
simultaneously.
3-Band
Parametric Equalizer: This
unit includes a 3-band parametric EQ with Selectable Q Factor. You may select a
low (40, 80, 100 or 160Hz), mid (200, 500, 1k or 2kHz) and high frequency
(3.15k, 8k, 10k or 12.5kHz) to boost or cut within a range of -6dB to +6dB. The
Q factor (slope of the boost or cut) may be selected from one of the following
four options: 2N (narrow), 1N, 1W and 2W (wide). Selecting a narrow (steep) Q
factor results in frequencies around the center frequency to be affected less by
the boost or cut than they are with a wide Q factor. This feature is useful for
taming frequency response problems caused by the dimensions, materials and
speaker locations of a vehicle.
Selectable Bass and
Treble Cut-off Frequencies:
The cut-off frequencies for the bass and treble controls can be set
independently of the 3-band parametric equalizer adjustments. The bass cut-off
frequency can be set to 40Hz, 63Hz, 100Hz or 160Hz. The treble cut-off frequency
can be set to 2.5kHz, 4kHz, 6.3kHz or 10kHz. The bass and treble controls have
an adjustment range of -6 to +6.
Adjustable
Loudness:
You can select "Low", "Mid" or "High" for
different levels of loudness compensation.
Preamp Outputs:
The DVH-P5000MP features a pre-amp harness with front and rear video, as well as
front RCA preamp outputs and RCA subwoofer/non-fading output. When the output is
set to "non fading", the signal is full range and the output level is
user selectable from -6 to +6. When set to "subwoofer", the outputs
are non fading, and they may be set for normal or reverse phase, 50Hz/80Hz/125Hz
low-pass output (slope is 18dB/octave), and the level is user selectable from -6
to +6.
Rear Monitor
Outputs: This
unit has a pair of RCA jacks for sending audio to the rear video monitor (the
rear monitor video output is on the pre-amp harness). Note: These outputs
should never be connected to an external amplifier, and are not affected by the
front to rear fader.
High-pass Filter:
When you don't want sound in the subwoofer frequency range output from the front
and rear speakers, you may activate the built-in high-pass filter. The HPF has a
slope of 12dB/octave and you may select a cutoff frequency of 50Hz, 80Hz, or
125Hz.
Source Level
Adjustment (SLA): This
function prevents radical leaps in volume when switching between sources. To use
this function, you compare the volume level of the different sources (AM,
CD/Changer) to the FM level, then you can adjust each source level to match the
FM level. Since the reference level is based on the FM volume, SLA is not
possible on FM.
DSP Controls:
The DVH-P5000MP has an
optical digital output and controls for an optional multi-channel digital
signal/surround sound processor. With a connected DSP unit, you can apply seat
position, time alignment adjustments, sound field controls, speaker output level
adjustments with a test tone, and set cutoff frequencies.
Optional Aux Input: When
used with item 130CDRB10 (sold separately) or item 130CDRB20 (sold separately),
this unit can accept input from an auxiliary source, such as a portable CD or MD
player. When item 130CDRB10 is used, a CD changer cannot be connected to this
unit. Item 130CDRB20 allows you to connect an optional Pioneer CD changer and an
auxiliary source to this unit. You can name the Auxiliary source using Upper and
lower case letters, numbers and/or symbols from the Name Edit menu.
Cellular Mute:
This feature mutes or attenuates the unit's audio output
when a cellular call is received, then restores the level once the call is over.
To use this feature, you must have a cellular phone with a
muting output that can be connected to the muting input wire (yellow/black lead)
of this unit.
Warning Tone:
If the front panel is not detached from the head unit within 5 seconds of
turning off the ignition, a warning tone will sound. This feature can be turned
On or Off.
Remote Control: The
supplied remote control (CXC1336) has controls for this unit, as well as for an
optional Pioneer DVD player/changer. A two-way switch lets you change from
controls for this unit (DVH) to controls for the an optional external DVD
player/changer. When controlling an optional DVD unit, you can switch between
controls for a single/multi-disc unit and a DVD Navigation unit. Dimensions:
Length=4.844", Width=2.065", Height=0.555".
Changer
Controls
Multi-CD Controls: In
addition to basic disc navigation features, this unit has the following changer
controls: pause, disc intro scan, track intro scan, track repeat, disc repeat,
all disc repeat, disc random, and all disc random.
ITS (Instant Track
Selection) Programming: The
ITS function can be used to program automatic playback of up to 99 tracks per
disc for up to 100 discs. With changers sold before the CDX-P1250 and CDX-P650,
up to 24 tracks can be stored in the playlist.
Disc Title
Memory: Titles
of up to 10 characters each can be entered into memory for up to 100 discs.
Disc Title
List: This feature allows
you to display disc titles that you have entered. From the list, you can select
a disc for playback.
CD Text
Display: When
used with a CD Text compatible Pioneer CD changer, this unit will display the
titles of CD Text encoded discs that are played in the changer. The titles can
be displayed in a list, and a track can be selected from the list for playback.
When playing a CD Text disc on a CD Text compatible changer, you cannot switch
to the Disc Title Input mode. CD Text disc titles, artist names and track titles
longer than 10 characters may be scrolled to reveal the entire string of text.
CD Sound
Quality Adjustment: Using
the "COMP" (compression) and "DBE" (dynamic bass emphasis)
functions, you can adjust the playback quality of the changer. Each function may
be set to one of two levels or off. The
"COMP" function compresses the audio signal to eliminate distortions
caused by the imbalances between the loudest and softest sounds when played at
high volumes. The "DBE" function boosts bass frequencies to give your
music a more full sound. Note: For these
functions to work, they must be supported by the Pioneer CD changer.
TV Tuner Controls: If
desired, you can add a compatible Pioneer TV tuner to this unit, and the unit
will be able to control various functions of the tuner.
DVD Controls: You
can add a compatible Pioneer single-disc DVD player or multi-disc DVD changer.
The supplied remote has a switch which allows the remote to control a connected
DVD player/changer.
Note
Rear Monitor Outputs: The
rear monitor audio outputs located on the rear of the unit should never be
connected to an external amplifier. There is no separate audio level control for
these outputs, nor are they affected by the front-to-rear fader control.
