VSX-D811S
Receiver Features
DTS ES Decoder:
This unit is equipped to decode DTS ES software. You get 5.1 home theater plus a
"back surround" channel for even stronger three-dimensional effects.
And with 100 watts x 6 channels of built-in power, you can drive all 5 of your
regular home theater speakers plus the back surround speaker without adding an
extra amplifier.
7.1-Channel
Input: In
addition to the built-in Dolby Digital, DTS and DTS ES processing, this unit
also has a 7.1-channel input for use with external multi-channel decoders.
The 7.1-channel input can accept left front, right front,
center, left surround, right surround, surround back left, surround back right
and subwoofer signals.
96kHz/24-bit
Audio D/A Conversion:
This unit will accept and play 96kHz/24 bit linear PCM digital audio.
Component Video
Switching: In
addition to composite video and S-video switching, this unit can switch between
two component video sources. There are 2 component video inputs and 1 component
video monitor output; each input and output has jacks labeled "Y",
"Pb" and "Pr". This feature allows you to connect, and
switch between, high resolution video sources equipped with component video
outputs.
Surround
Back/Passive Subwoofer Speaker Amplification:
In addition to the standard surround speaker amplifiers, this unit includes a
100 watt amplifier that can power surround back speakers or a passive subwoofer.
The surround back amplifier can be used to power one surround back speaker, two
surround back speakers or a passive subwoofer.
Standard Surround
Modes:
- Dolby Digital
- Dolby Digital EX
- DTS
- DTS ES
- Dolby Pro Logic
- Dolby Pro Logic II (Movie and
Music)
- DTS Neo:6 (Cinema and Music)
Advanced Theater
Modes:
- Musical:
Simulates the acoustic environment of a large concert hall and is suitable
for music sources.
- Movie:
Simulates the relaxed environment of a movie theater and is suitable
watching movies.
- Virtual Surround Back:
Simulates 7.1 channel surround when listening to 5.1 channel sources.
- Expanded:
This mode is designed to give sound depth to stereo sources. The overall
effect builds a dynamic and broad sound field, allowing a 2-channel signal
to faithfully imitate a six speaker sound. You can use this mode with Dolby
Pro Logic sources.
- 6-Channel Stereo: Used
to output a stereo source from all the surround speakers.
Midnight Listening Mode:
The Midnight Listening mode preserves the dynamic range and full intelligibility
of a movie sound track, while reducing the peak volume level.
Dual Mono:
The dual mono setting can only be used when listening to Dolby Digital sources
that have dual mono information. With this setting, you can choose which channel
in the dual mono information you want to hear. This feature is useful for
soundtracks that have one language on one channel and a different language on
the other channel.
Display Dimmer: The
display brightness may be set to one of three levels, or it may be turned off
(display of volume level stays on).
Signal Select:
If a component is hooked up to the receiver using both digital and analog
connections, you can select the input you wish to use.
DV-656A
DVD Player Features
MP3 Playback:
This unit will play MP3 files recorded onto CD-R or CD-RW discs using the ISO
9660 format. The DV-656 is compatible with multi-session MP3 discs and can
recognize a maximum of 250 folders or 250 tracks.
Audio D/A converter:
This unit includes an audio digital-to-analog converter capable of providing
192kHz/24-bit and 96kHz/24-bit resolution. The 192kHz/24-bit and 96kHz/24-bit
capabilities of this unit allow it to play DVD Video discs with 96kHz/24-bit
audio tracks and DVD Audio discs with sampling rates as high as 192kHz. Note:
In most cases to hear the full benefits of the high sampling rate discs, you
must use the analog outputs of this unit; the digital outputs will deliver a
signal for discs recorded with a sampling rate as high as 96kHz, but most
software will not allow a digital output without down converting to 48kHz.
Super Fine Focus Digital Filter:
The digital filter improves the quality of the video output by reducing video
noise, in this case the horizontal resolution is improved to 540 lines.
Component Video Output:
In addition to the composite video and the S-video outputs, this unit is
equipped with a set of component video outputs. When connected to a television
with a component video input, the component video output of this unit will
provide picture color and detail that is superior to video from composite and
S-video outputs.
Progressive
Video Output: The 54MHz/10-bit
video digital-to-analog converter provides
either interlaced or progressive video output. A progressive signal is output
only through the component video outputs.
Built-In Dolby Digital/DTS
Decoding: This unit is
equipped with DTS and Dolby Digital decoders. 5.1 multi-channel analog audio
outputs are on the rear of the unit and connect to a compatible
amplifier/receiver with 5.1 channel inputs. Although multi-channel audio from a
DVD-Audio disc can be heard only when this unit's 5.1 channel outputs are
connected to a component with 5.1 channel inputs, this unit can be set to
down-mix multi-channel audio to stereo audio for playback through a stereo
amplifier, TV or other non-multi-channel receiver.
Dolby
Digital, DTS and MPEG Audio Compatibility: This
DVD player will pass Dolby Digital, DTS, PCM and MPEG digital bitstreams through
the digital outputs.
Playback
Options:
- Variable
Speed Scanning:
When playing a disc there are three fast scanning speeds in both directions.
Note: MP3 discs scan at only one fast speed.
- Slow
Motion Playback: Video
can be viewed at four forward slow speeds (1/2, 1/4, 1/8 or 1/16 normal
playing speed) and two reverse slow speeds (18 and 1/16). This playback is
fairly smooth and noise free.
- Frame-by-Frame
Playback: Video
can be viewed frame-by-frame on DVD and Video CD.
- Search:
You can search by
title, chapter/track, or time (DVD only).
- Repeat Play:
You can have the unit repeat a portion of the disc by selecting the starting
and stopping points for the section to be repeated (A-B repeat). When
playing a DVD, you can repeat the current chapter or title. When playing a
Video CD or an audio CD, you can repeat the current track or the entire
disc.
- Random Play:
When playing a DVD, you can play the chapters or titles in random order.
When playing a Video CD or an audio CD, you can play the tracks in random
order.
- Program Play:
When playing a DVD, up to 24 chapters and titles can be programmed and
played in any order. Up to 24 tracks on a Video CD or an audio CD can be
programmed and played in any order.
- Multi-Angle Function:
This function allows you to choose the viewing angle of scenes that were
shot from a number of different angles. Note: This function is
limited to DVDs recorded with multiple camera angles.
Aspect
Ratio: Depending
on the software, you can choose an aspect ratio of 4:3 (pan & scan), 4:3
(letter box), or 16:9 (used when you have a true wide screen TV).
Audio DRC
(Audio Dynamic Range Compression):
DRC allows you to compress a DVDs dynamic range on
Dolby Digital soundtracks so that soft sounds like dialog can be heard
more clearly without making loud sounds louder.
TruSurround by
SRS: TruSurround
simulates multi-channel surround sound using only two speakers.
Zoom:
The zoom feature can be used to enlarge any part of the picture by 2x or 4x.
Note: Zoom only works with an interlaced video output.
Video Off: The
video circuitry can be turned off to lessen any noise when listening to an audio
only disc.
S-FCRW720-S
Speaker System Features
Versatile Mounting: The
six satellite speakers are equipped with a bracket to accommodate wall mounting
and horizontal placement. The wall mounting bracket can be pivoted 35 degrees in
either direction to help aim the sound at the listening position. The bracket
can be rotated 90 degrees to serve as a stand, allowing the speaker to be placed
horizontally on a shelf or stand. The Pioneer logo can be displayed horizontally
or vertically to match the orientation of the speaker.
Video Shielded: The
front and center speakers are video shielded to allow placement near a TV. The
rear speakers and subwoofer are not video shielded.
Auto Power On/Off: The
subwoofer will automatically go into standby mode when no signal is detected
through the line input for several minutes.
Remote
Controls
Receiver Remote (XXD3043):
The VSX-D811S receiver comes with a powerful remote that is programmed to
control not only the receiver's functions, but also most popular brands of audio
and video equipment, including DVD players, CD players, cassette decks,
televisions, cable boxes, VCRs, satellite receivers and other home-theater
equipment. Also, this remote can learn the infrared commands from remotes of
other devices.
DVD Player Remote (VXX2800): The
DV-656A DVD player comes with a separate remote control that is programmed to
control only the unit's functions. It has no controls for any other components.
Control In/Out: By
connecting an optional control cord (mono miniplug on both ends) between
components, you can control other compatible Pioneer components with the
receiver's remote control.
Inputs
and Outputs Notes
VSX-D811S Receiver:
- Speaker Outputs: The
connectors for the speakers are binding posts, however they are not 5-way
binding posts, because each post has a plastic collar that prevents the use
of spade lugs and the posts are too far apart to use dual banana plugs.
- 7.1-channel Input: This
receiver has inputs for connecting an external 7.1-channel decoder. The left
and right channel input labeled "DVD/LD" make up the front left
and front right channels of the 7.1-channel input. The remaining inputs
(center, subwoofer, left and right surround, and left and right back
surround) are grouped together and labeled "DVD 7.1CH Input".
- Preamp Outputs: The
receiver has 6.1-channel pre-amp outputs consisting of 7 RCA jacks for the
front left, front right, left surround, right surround, surround back,
center and subwoofer.
- Control Out: This
mini-jack output connects to the control in jack on other compatible Pioneer
components to transfer remote control signals
DV-656A DVD Player:
- Control In/Out: This
DVD player has a mini-jack control input and mini-jack control output for
use with compatible Pioneer components.
