Overview Details Customer Reviews Category Info Our take on the Pioneer CD-IU200V by Ken Nail Why would I need an iPod® adapter? An iPod adapter allows you to connect your iPod to your car stereo, then access your playlists with your stereo's controls - a great idea for several reasons. One, you can scroll through your song titles on your stereo's larger display, instead of squinting down at your iPod. Two, you can route the adapter cable to your glove compartment or center console, so your iPod stays safely out of sight. Three, the iPod adapter keeps your iPod fully charged, so it's ready to rock when you leave your car. And last of all, some adapters bypass your iPod's internal digital-to-analog converter, using your stereo's superior DAC to turn your files back into music. The CD-IU200V interface cable lets you connect your iPod to Pioneer's AVH-P4100DVD and other select DVD receivers, so you can access your iPod's audio and video content with the system's touchscreen controls. You'll see information like song and album titles, artist names, and track length all conveniently displayed on the receiver's screen. Just connect the cable to your iPod, plug it into the receiver, and enjoy. Warranty: 1 year. Works as advertised, but with my iPhone 3G in a Switcheasy Rebel M case I was barely able to plug it in with the case on. Now, with my iPhone 4 in the Apple Bumper case, I have to take the case off the plug this beast of a cable in. Poor for Audio Written By Brock, Canada on Tuesday, November 01, 2011 I was very disappointed to find out after a lot of investigation that this cable only allows audio to be output through the 3.5mm mini jack. Pioneer doesn't tell you in their literature and it took a call to one of Crutchfield's excellent techs to determine this fact! They really know their stuff! The 3.5mm mini jack is great for carrying the video signal but for some strange reason Pioneer chose the left/right audio portion of that 3.5mm jack to send the audio signal to the head unit as well. All new iPods/iPhones have an inferior DAC (digital to analog converter). The older models were much better. Because the audio file (MP3/ACC) transfer is basically the headphone jack output on the iPod, your expensive AVH Pioneer Head Unit doesn't decode the signal using it's very expensive and very high quality DAC. It basically amplifies the awful iPod headphone signal! Music lacks punch, and is lifeless and sterile. On the bright side, a direct iPod docking cable to the AVH's USB port will give you direct access to your iPod's MP3/ACC music files and it sounds great. Your AVH will still control the iPod and Album Art still shows on the AVH. Only problem is no video files will play. Pioneer has to go back to the drawing board on this cable too. Why they couldn't have just the video portion go through the 3.5mm mini jack and audio go digital through the USB is a mystery! Pros: Allows iPhone apps like YouTube and GPS as well as movies to play on Pioneer AVH receivers. Cons: It plays back your music files though the iPod's awful DAC (digital to analog converter), instead of a direct digital transfer through the USB portion of the cable to your head units much superior DAC! 6 out of 6 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Crutchfield Customer Review The reviewer purchased this item from us, verified by the email address on the order. I've only used this with the iPhone 4, but the dock connector doesn't fit quite right so that the spring pins don't engage leaving the connection quite loose. If this was just sitting on my desk at home, who cares? But in the car I'm constantly having to reconnect the cable. Very annoying and probably distracting. Other than that, the the product does just as it says. I can stream music, Pandora, Netflix, GPS and more right to my 7" touch screen. I don't think I was charged for my cable (Crutchfield is awesome), but it is overpriced. There's no reason for any cable to be this much just for a brand name on the box. Pros: Does What it Claims Pandora & Netflix on My Head Unit is Win Cons: Cable Constantly Comes Loose / Poor Fit Price Was this review helpful? I love Pioneer, but you'd think they could have put a little more thought into the design. 1 out of 5 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Yes | No
3 out of 5 Great for Video. 2 out of 5 Not a Secure Fit (iPhone 4) Written By Scotthew, Nevada on Sunday, May 13, 2012 Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?) Crutchfield Customer Review The reviewer purchased this item from us, verified by the email address on the order. Yes | No
