Find what fits your car

The CD-IU50V interface cable lets you connect your iPod to select Pioneer navigation and DVD receivers, so you can access your iPod with the system's touchscreen controls. You'll see information like song and album titles, artist names, and track length — all conveniently displayed on the receiver's screen. Just connect the cable to your iPod, plug it into your Pioneer receiver, and enjoy. Warranty: 1 year.

Compatibility Note: Be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this iPod adapter.

Why would I need an iPod® adapter?

An iPod adapter allows you to connect your iPod to your car stereo, then access your playlists with your stereo's controls - a great idea for several reasons. One, you can scroll through your song titles on your stereo's larger display, instead of squinting down at your iPod. Two, you can route the adapter cable to your glove compartment or center console, so your iPod stays safely out of sight. Three, the iPod adapter keeps your iPod fully charged, so it's ready to rock when you leave your car. And last of all, some adapters bypass your iPod's internal digital-to-analog converter, using your stereo's superior DAC to turn your files back into music.

useful but doesn't hold up to daily use

Written By Nate, Charlotte, NC on Sunday, March 09, 2014

Cable works well, I love my AVH-3300BT. So much in fact, I'm taking the time to swap it to my new (to me) civic. Major fault is with daily use, the cable stops playing video. I've gone through 3 cables in 2 years of use, and have given up replacing after Crutchfield will no longer warranty them. My unit was installed professionally, and I take care of my devices (I've had my current iPhone 4s for over 2 years with no damage). This cable's durability is a huge disappointment. The iPhone plays music fine, but I can no longer use my Motion-X GPS or Netflix apps with video, which was a huge selling point for my head unit.

Pros: Great connectability, plug it in and immediate music and charging.

Cons: Does not last; cable fails to function properly with daily use.

Cable too short to use

Written By TylerS, Kansas City, MO on Friday, September 23, 2011

This cord would work great if the cord was more than 18 inches long. It isn't long enough to plug into the back of my AVH-P4200DVD that only has a USB input on the back. I bought this stereo because I would have a cleaner install and it came with a USB extendor so I thought that would work. The problem is extending the analog audio cable. It is a special cable so a 3.5MM extention will not work. I have not been able to find an extention cable anywhere. So this product becomes effectively worthless because it is too short to plug in.

Good cable, way over priced

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The cable is far superior to the Apple cheapo cables in build quality. Even though it is 10X better then the Apple cables, the price is just simply crazy for a cable like this. They would fly off the shelves at $20-$30 when placed next to the typical super cheap Apple cables. Only a 4 because it is so expensive.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Cable works fine, just wish they made it 24 inches longer. Using it in my 05' Silverado, and its still to short to bring the phone to my ear to have a private conversation on the phone. The price is also a little high, it isn't bad if it were longer, but as short as it is, $35 is more like the price.

Works exactly as described

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The price tag originally gave me sticker shock; however, upon closer inspection
I decided the only way to get the full functionality of my Pioneer AVIC-Z130BT
and iPhone was to make use of this cable. It's completely easy to connect
(connects to the provided USB/Aux extension cable) to the receiver and iPhone.
Once connected you are opened to a world of capabilities, including; AHA Radio,
Pandora Radio, iPhone/iPod audio/video, etc.

Works for me

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I agree with others that it's a little short for the money. However, it works
fine in my application. (Chevy Avalanche). Otherwise, is works as advertised.
These days, that gets 4 stars.

Works great

This adapter works well. I think it is the only one that will work, so you have no other option.

Accept no substitutes!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Yes it is annoying to pay this much for a piece of wire. However, this cable allows you to use your head unit to fully control your IPOD. It actually improves on the search function so you can find you music easily. The best part is that the quality of music is amazing. It is produced in full digital which can't hold a candle to analog. Buy it!

Works, but apparently kills you in the process

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Response from Pioneer: "In regards to the 1/8" audio jack on the CD-IU50V cable:
For music, audio is passed to the unit via the USB digital connection.
For video, all manufacturers are required to use an analog connection for the audio portion based on the digital rights management (DRM) standards of digital video.

In regards to the orange sticker on the CD-IU50V cable:
This warning extends from California's Proposition 65 and legal requirements that have followed its passage, and the warning must be included with electrical cords. Please refer to for more information."

First, the cable works well with the AVH-P5200DVD, letting you control the ipod or iphone(3g) directly or via the iphone screen itself. However, I have two gripes with this adapter vs the previous generation iBUS connectors:
1. The only connection option to the head unit is via the front panel USB & 3mm jack. So you have a clean install with these cables sticking out the front. Also, since it's using a 3mm phono jack, I'm assuming the audio connection is analog not digital, which in todays day an age is a real step back. I wish it used a iBUS connection on the back of the unit with a longer cable to support mounting the iPHONE somewhere else; as it is the cable is approx 18" long.
2. Heres the best part: The cable comes with a warning pamphlet that states, and I quote, "WARNING: Handling the cord on this product or cords associated with accessories sold with the product may expose you to chemicals listed on proposition 65 known to the state of California and other government entities to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Wash hands after handling". So apparently using this product will kill you unless you wash your hands every time you plug/unplug your iPod :) Hopefully this is just some BS that legal forced them to include as basically everything causes cancer.... It even has a ugly orange sticker on the cable that warns you!

Note: Apple iPod/iPhone software updates may change functionality results. If you download a newer software version, you may need to reset the head unit and your iPod/iPhone to regain functionality. If this doesn't work, you may need to revert to the older software version or wait until a newer software update is available.
