Can't find your exact car?

The CD-IU51V interface cable lets you connect your iPod to select Pioneer navigation and DVD receivers, so you can access your iPod with the system's touchscreen controls. You'll see information like song and album titles, artist names, and track length — all conveniently displayed on the receiver's screen. Just connect the cable to your iPod, plug it into your Pioneer receiver, and enjoy.

This cable currently works with Pioneer's AVIC-X930BT and AVIC-Z130BT receivers. Warranty: 1 year.

Note: Be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this iPod adapter.

Why would I need an iPod® adapter?

An iPod adapter allows you to connect your iPod to your car stereo, then access your playlists with your stereo's controls - a great idea for several reasons. One, you can scroll through your song titles on your stereo's larger display, instead of squinting down at your iPod. Two, you can route the adapter cable to your glove compartment or center console, so your iPod stays safely out of sight. Three, the iPod adapter keeps your iPod fully charged, so it's ready to rock when you leave your car. And last of all, some adapters bypass your iPod's internal digital-to-analog converter, using your stereo's superior DAC to turn your files back into music.

Works great!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Did not have latest cable in stock for my unit but this one allowed my 160 gig ipod classic to work perfectly with my Pioneer 8100 NEX.

Pros: Perfect interface and was on closeout.

Cons: None

Difficult to plug into receiver

Written by: Dan from Florida on December 13, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great low price, does the job of interfacing an iPod Classic to my Pioneer AVR but very difficult to plug in the 3.5mm connector to the front input without damaging the AVR. Ok if you want to leave it hanging off the front of the AVR input interface permanently. I'd rather use the analog headphone jack to the back of the AVR.

Pros: Price, Function

Cons: Difficult to plug in.

Bulky and expensive, but it does work

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Well, it's not like you have a choice or anything - this is apparently your only option for attaching an iPod to the Pioneer mobile audio/nav systems. I did not find it too short, it's about 4' long and I was able to route it down the center console of my Infiniti G35 to the storage bin/armrest with an extra 18"or so of cable left.

Pros: Works, looks rugged enough, includes a cap for the 32 pin plug end.

Cons: Expensive and bulky!

Great Audio, Poor Video

Written by: Jakenc33 from Erie, PA on January 17, 2013

I recently purchased a new Pioneer AVH-P1400DVD head unit from Crutchfield and installed it on Sunday, 1/6/13. I also purchased the Pioneer CD-IU51V I pod/ I Phone accessory cable to connect my I phone 4s to the head unit. The cable works great for Pandora, but when I try to use it for Netflix or MotionX GPS Drive the picture cuts in and out. Even moving the cable ever so slightly makes it worse. Also, if I try and use Youtube, nothing even comes up on the screen of the head unit, but I get audio through the speakers. For the price the cable should work all of the time. I contacted Pioneer they will not give me a replacement cable nor a refund!!!

Pros: Great audio quality

Cons: Poor Video, cuts in and out, not reliable

Love it, works great in every way

Pros: Outstanding when I had my iPhone 4S

Cons: You need to make upgrades for the iPhone 5

Good cable

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good quality cable, not flimsy, nice locking connector. You need the USB part for iPod controls and the 3 ring RCA for music and pic transfer. Nice 30 pin connector cover to keep it clean. Pricy but it does it's job. For anyone that wants to run it from the back of the head unit to the glove box it might be a tad short but it's fine for me.

Good quality

Pioneer CD-IU51V Great Cable!

The Pioneer CD-IU51V works as advertised. I installed a Pioneer AVH-2400BT in my 2004 Ford FX4, the CD-IU51V work great with my 2Gen iTouch. Now I can enjoy my entire iTunes library on the go. Thanks.

Pros: Album art and song information is displayed

Cons: The cable is short bulky

Flakey, at best?!?!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Flakey. Only works when it wants too. For the price, you would think it would work all the time. When it does, its beautiful. Great feedback

Pros: Great feedback, charges iPhone

Cons: Doesn't work all the time, too expensive for the quality. I expected more

full iphone control for my Pioneer AVH-P3400BH

Written by: DGF from Atlanta, GA on February 27, 2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Cable works great with my iphone 4 and the Pioneer AVH-P3400BH. I can fully control the iphone from the head unit and can see all song info and album art.

Pros: works perfectly. but it's just a usb & 3.5 to dock connector cable. what could go wrong

Cons: kinda pricey for an iphone/ipod cable. My current iphone sync cable would probably work fine.

Pretty good... If you want cancer

Written by: G from Colorado on June 8, 2011

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I initially bought this cable for two reasons. First, it bypasses the iPod/iPhone's DAC, giving you the best sound quality. Second, it charges your iPod/iPhone. It does both of these very well, and the sound quality is a tremendous upgrade from standard radio or bluetooth audio streaming.

The only problem is that it states in the owners manual that this cable contains elements that are KNOWN TO CAUSE CANCER, and they simply recommend that you wash your hands after using. If you do buy this cable, I recommend that you also buy some wire loom or heat shrink tubing to cover up the cable so you won't run the risk of getting cancer from this overpriced cable.

[Editor's Note: In regards to the orange sticker on the CD-IU51V cable:
This warning extends from California's Proposition 65 and legal requirements that have followed its passage, and the warning must be included with electrical cords. Please refer to for more information." ]

Customer Q&A

Crutchfield asked
Why did you buy this?

so I can listen to my music and charge my ipod [ RODNEY  Jan 16, 2016 ]

2 questions already asked

I was told hat by buying an Apple adapter that converts the old 30 pin connector to the new lightning connector for the new iPhone 6 would work with the Pioneer but I am unable to make it work. I now have to use Bluetooth to connect. I haven't taken it to an auto audio vendor yet to see if they have other suggestions yet however. Sorry. [ Lee  Dec 30, 2015 ]
Yep that will work for you. It was what I used until I bought a Alpine INE-Z928HD and sold off my Pioneer. Good Luck with it, it's a nice quality plug not like the cheaper vinyl ones out there. Very flexible. [ MARK  Jan 15, 2014 ]
They do not make a cable from iPhone 5 for pioneer yet. If it is the same hook up as iPhone 4 then this cable will work. If you have a hook up like on iPhone 5 you will need the adapter to make the cable work. [ BRIAN K  Jan 15, 2014 ]
