A/V media at your command
When you connect your iPod® to the front-panel USB input, you'll be able to use the receiver's controls to access your playlists. Handy tools like Alphabet Search and Link Search to make it easier to find the song you want fast. And the receiver's 1-amp USB port will charge your devices faster, too. You can play anything from your regular store-bought or home burned music CDs, to music files you've burned onto CD or DVD discs or loaded onto USB thumb drives.

Pandora® control
If you're a fan of streaming Internet radio, connect your iPhone to the receiver with Pioneer's CD-IU51V cable and take charge of your Pandora® account from the touchscreen, complete with thumbs-up and thumbs-down controls.

Rear panel

Video playback
The 5.8" LCD screen plays DVDs in bright, clear detail when you're parked. You can also send a movie from the receiver to a rear-seat screen — your passengers will thank you during those long trips. And with Pioneer's CD-IU51V cable, you'll be able to view video content from your iPod too.

Sound matters
The receiver's powerful built-in amplifier delivers the goods, with crisp sound at all volume settings, while the 8-band equalizer offers plenty of ways to tweak the output. Three pairs of preamp outputs make it easier to connect external amps, and this receiver offers an auto-equalization feature to tune your system (microphone required).

Add on for safety and convenience
If you're a road warrior, add Pioneer's AVIC-U220 navigation module for in-dash navigation. And you can add a rear-view camera to the receiver's cam input — it'll make backing up in tight spots a lot easier and safer, too.

Want to keep your car's steering wheel audio controls?
In most vehicles, you can use an adapter to connect your vehicle's steering wheel controls to this Pioneer stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and the Pioneer, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls.

Good stereo.

Bought this radio in March of 2013 and put it in my Chevy TrailBlazer. Last week (Feb 2015) It started shutting off after about 5 minutes. If you shut the truck off, let it sit for a minute or 2 and then restart it the radio will come back on for another 5 minutes. I'm not real happy about this. Of courses there is only a one year warranty. So now I need to find another radio to replace it.

Pros: Worked great while it worked.

    Cons: Didn't last long enough.

I was looking for a deck with a lot of control over the sound. This deck allowed me to adjust the sound exactly how I wanted. The touch screen is extremely responsive and easy to use. This has been my favorite deck as of now.

    Pros: Touchscreen responsiveness, sound control

Cons: The day after I installed it I got an error message. All I had to do was unplug it and plug it back in, but having to take the dash apart was annoying. Hasn't happened again since.

I purchased this unit around Christmas time and got it installed a couple of weeks ago. The install was a breeze thanks to Crutchfield included installation accessories. Overall it only took me about 30 minutes in my Scion TC. The head unit looks seamless with my interior and I love the great features. I have it connected to my Iphone 4s and can use Pandora, YouTube, and Netflix. I use Pandora daily, its the best. Overall I gave this unit 4 stars because I think the screen resolution and quality should be better, but for the price it cannot be beat! Don't hesitate to make this purchase!

Pros: Great features, price point, sound quality

Cons: Not the best screen quality, weird cable sticking out of the front

All I can say is very impressed plenty of features. I can honestly say this head unit is at its best with all aftermarket gear to complement the head unit. After fine tuning the band, the sound is flawless, Kenwood KFC-C6894PS 6"x8" 3-way in the doors, Sound OrdnanceT B-8PT, Kenwood Excelon X450-4 to power the door speakers all with this unit could not ask for a more perfect package. At first I replaced jus the head unit and automatically noticed a big diff I jus nu it was only a matter of time b 4 the rest of the puzzle was put together and boy ole boy no complaints. I will admit thou if u fiddle with the settings to fine tune jus remem until u up grade all components u will not get the overall BEST out of the head unit.... Great buy

Pros: Just buy the head unit if u can spring for the up graded model go 4 it

I've always been a big fan of pioneer so when i got a new truck i figured i would stick to what works best, this unit is more than what i actually needed but the price was worth it and the functions was very nice, dont care for touch screen to much but its different so i can get used to it. It made my factory speakers that sounded like junk before now sound much better, anyways Pioneer as done right by me for years and will continue to buy their products

Pros: its actually very easy to use if your used to smart phones or computers

I bought this model because of the low price and I didn't need the features that the higher models included. I am disappointed with the poor use of the touch screen. One reason for buying a touchscreen was because of the on screen buttons. The on screen buttons are easier to use while driving than the tiny physical buttons. For example, when using the USB flashdrive option, there are no buttons for skipping tracks. Other touch screens I've used have on screen buttons for everything except volume. Another complaint is the trim bezel fit. For my install I didn't need this bezel however there is no reason for it to be such a poor fit. It fits tight on the sides bit there is about a 3/16 gap on the top/bottom. If I had it to do over again I wouldn't select a different model or brand.

    Pros: Great price, Looks good

Cons: Not enough on screen functions, Volume control buttons instead of a knob.

I find this unit to be a great compromise between top-end units that have way more features than you'll ever use, and bottom end units that are lacking in features. The installation, into my Daughters Xterra, was a snap. I bought the optional XM receiver to go with it and it all works perfect. I only have two nit-picky complaints; the brackets are supposed to use four screws, but only three will line up. The second, is the bezel cover that fits sloppily around the unit and leaves a sizable gap along the bottom of the unit. (Nit-picky....I know). Crutchfield supplied a free installation kit that frankly I did not use or need.

Pros: Nice features that does everything most would want. The choice of any color lights on the display and back lighting is a nice feature too. Good instructions and optional hook-up's available.

Cons: A little cheesy on the bezel fit and finish. A rear USB plug for an iPod controller would sure be nice.

Excellent upgrade for my 2002 Monte Carlo SS. Don't buy the gmos 100 adapter, but go with the gmos 104. Steering wheel control interface works flawlessly. For those who say they can't watch DVD's while car is in motion, there is a work-around for this. Do a google search, or ask an installation professional. Overall, a great value for the price. Not perfect, but good for a budget build.

Pros: Cool looking display. Lots of presets for radio and XM stations. Works perfect with steering wheel controls (interface purchase required)

Cons: No volume knob. Not the most user-friendly features, but once you get used to it, everything is good. Invest in an amplifier. 14 watt RMS will not give you the punch you need. USB read time takes kind of long.

Swapped out my factory install radio with this unit in my 2008 Ford F-150. Money well spent for sure. Better audio quality, volume, more features, and lots of add on potential. Two weeks ago i had bought the pioneer AVH-P1400DVD for my husband car,GMC Envoy 2005.it fit perfectly.we received it within 4 days.instruction wise was bad, didn't show u how to connect the radio harness with the special one they sold me separately for that car.husband started matching colors, wire to wire but had an issue wen he had two cables that didn't match,1st was a orange on 1 side and other was orange with a white stripe,2nd was purple, other side light purple.we did call but we had 10 caller ahead.so he just put those orange together, purple together.i'm wonderyng why crutchfield haven't recorded videos connecting this products from beginning to end even if the consumer have to pay a fee for it.u guys do it any how, talking about harness, addaptors, subwoofers, amps etc..well just an idea i don't know.well unit so far working amazing, sound great, easy to manage, great colors.husband is happy with the unit looking foward for the subwoofer and amp for next step.thanks crutchfield.

Pros: great unit, price! was great, easy to manage.

Cons: we need specific and simples instructions wen connecting the units, harness, adapter, amps ect..make videos and send it to email or provide a code to watch it after consumer pay a loooow, looow fee. P.S. my %.LOL

My first install. Took way longer than I wanted with all the solder connections, but the actual swap out wasn't too bad. Had a little trouble with getting the harness out of the way to get radio in. Also, do not cut anything off of the mounting bracket before you dry fit it. I read reviews saying the same, but I got anxious and decided to follow directions. The directions had me cut off the brackets that I needed. It is useless now. I installed this in a 2005 tahoe with out Bose. Overall, the radio is great for the price and has the capability to expand such as woofer, satellite , rear view , Bluetooth etc... The mounting bracket and instructions are junk!! Do not cut until you have old receiver out.

Fine unit, however the manual is somewhat vague. Don't expect to hook up to a larger screen to view DVD's and have it a larger picture. The same size picture is all you'll get. It has different aspect ratio's, but they don't change actual screen size. This unit is built for in dash car application. So If you want to use it in a Motor home, boat, etc., you will always see the "Warning: you can't view DVD's while driving!! screen.

    Pros: Sounds good

Cons: If it's installed in anything other than a car or truck , you may be unhappy with the purchase.

Got this for a relative who really liked my 2 yr old Pioneer System w/backup camera that is very similar to this new one. Easy to install, and setup, though I already had experience with setting up my older unit. Like the improvements Pioneer made in the user interface, wish mine had those features. The backup camera feature is great and was used in this install. GM dealer wanted over $700 just to install a backup camera into his 2011 Impala.

Pros: Good sound, nice interface, plenty of connections for almost all applications.

Cons: User/Install guide could be bigger. Text very small. Also would be nice to have an SD card slot like my older unit has.

As you may have been able to tell by my Display Name... I punched my head unit over a heated debate. As the weeks drudged on I decided that I needed to replace the old broken one. After researching for a few more weeks I got the Pioneer-1400AVH DVD/whatever the heck all the numbers and letters are. I have to say it took about 30 minutes to install and all my friends think its pretty bad. Gets the job done.

Upgraded to this unit from my stock '05 WRX 6-cd changer. Stock unit didn't read burned CDs well, had sketchy radio reception on some stations, and just didn't do it for me. it felt like my music should sound better. This unit does way more stuff than I'll probably need, but I like it a lot thus far. Radio reception is definitely better though I still get a little static occasionally. I understand my window tint could affect that though, so maybe that's it. It's better than before and that's what's important. The USB port is awesome and I plugged a TINY 16gig USB into that since I don't use an MP3 player. The menu'ing is great though loading the USB source takes a little bit of time. Not a big deal. CD quality is excellent, it plays DVDs well, and I intend to use the aux in to stream pandora from my android phone. The screen gets a LITTLE harder to read in direct sunlight when my sunroof is open, but it's absolutely still readable. I'm getting used to touch screen still but that's just a matter of time. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase.

Pros: Front USB port is awesome. Front aux in is good too, and i THINK it has a back one if you want to hide your cable? plays CDs and DVDs very well. Touch screen is accurate and responsive. Cool factor is high. Changing the lighting color is neat, and you can have it automatically cycle through all the colors continuously if you don't want to pick just one.

Cons: While my radio reception got better from my stock unit, there is still a little static at some times on some stations - not all the time. Again, i think i read somewhere that window tinting can negatively affect radio reception, so maybe that's it. The USB source loads a little slow, but who cares. it works and that's all that matters.

Very pleased with this unit. Performs exactly as I anticipated. The USB up front is very convenient for playing 1000's of songs off of a small thumbdrive, and the menu is very easy to navigate through. Like the change of colors. Was easy to customize the green to match the interior lights of my '06 GTO. Easy installation thanks to very detailed instructions provided by the Crutchfield folks

Pioneer managed to cram a lot of stuff into a small box without making sure that it would necessarily work well. This is the base model which allows you to add components that may or may not function. Right away, there's a list of iPods and iPhone models that don't work with its app mode and all android devices completely out of the question. If you want navigation, be prepared to spend at least 300 for the add-on, plus an extra 150 every time you want a new map. The other components aren't that much better price-wise and you'll end up bankrupt or running out of space to store them all if you want all of the features. In theory, you can divert your rear speaker to a 4ohm sub, but with an RMS of 18, it's gonna be pretty small and you'll need to buy that amp. The manual is near useless and is poorly organised, while the trim that goes around the unit to fit into your double DIN slot doesn't even fit around the HU. I had to sand it down and eventually I just bought the Metra kit. If you use the USB slot with anything larger than 4g, you're going to be waiting for up to two minutes before it can read your songs. If you dare to use a non-Apple product with it, you can expect the most bizarrely messed up tags and no playlists or file organisation whatsoever.

Pros: A definite upgrade from your OEM system, price

Cons: Need significant patience with USB, add-ons are wildly overpriced and unwieldy, internal amp is underpowered to do any real speaker upgrades.

At this pricepoint you can't go wrong with this unit. I've been running Pioneer decks for 14 years now, and this is my first venture into touch screen/double DIN territory. Its the same Pioneer quality and tunability I've come to expect. I love that it's "stripped down" compared to alot of DVD units on the market to get it to a price that makes it easy to get into the segment, yet has the capability to upgrade features as you go if you're so inclined. I did quite a bit of homework on the iDevice cord to be used with this unit. In the end I ended up buying the knock-off of the expensive Pioneer cord and it has worked just fine for what I use it for; I read to play video from the iDevice on the headunit you need the cord, but to just control the device and use Pandora, even the standard white cord that comes with the iDevice works just fine, even displaying album artwork and song.station information. So if you only intend to play and control your music, don't bother with another cord.

Pros: - Great price first and foremost. - Typical Pioneer sound tunability (multi-band EQ, hi/lo pass filters, boost, loudness, sonic center control, etc) - Visual customization (background and button colors/graphics) - Auto-dim with headlights on and touch screen sensativity adjustability - iPod/iPhone controlability through the standard iDevice cord (you dont need the special one if you just want to control the music/use Pandora

Cons: The only thing i don't like about the unit is when switching from Pandora mode to iPod mode; when you switch to iPod mode it keeps playing the Pandora song that was going. You have to bring up the menu to select a song and it plays iPod music just fine from then on. Not a deal breaker, but annoying nonetheless.

This radio is great for someone who is looking to add ipod connectivity to there vehicle. The touchscreen works great. You do not have to press hard to make a selection. Color options for the screen and the buttons are pretty cool too. The only thing I dont like is that the usb port is in the front so you have your ipod cable hanging out the bottom left corner of the unit. Wish it was out of the back so its hidden but i can live with it. Far as installing yourself, this thing is easy. I installed this in my '01 Honda Acccord with no problems. I purchased a relay and bypassed the parking brake and still had it installed in under an hour. With the parts Cructhfield gives you, You have everything you need except crimp caps. If bluetooth isnt a factor for you than this radio is it. If you do want bluetooth than go with the P2400.

    Pros: too many to list

    Cons: Usb port in front

Great unit for an upgrade to my 2002 Explorer. This was my first time installing an aftermarket unit and the process was pretty seamless. Crutchfield support quickly answered the few questions I had and made the process easy. This unit made my stock speakers sound so much better - I really wasn't expecting such a difference. The IPod operation is simple and intuitive. We took a cross-state trip the day after installation and it was a great time to test out all of the features. So far I can only say good things about it.

Pros: Ipod connectivity makes the unit work like a dream. Definitely buy the connecting cord to allow you to operate the unit from the touchscreen. You will regret it if you don't. The touchscreen is easy to use and operates quickly - there is no annoying delay like some other units I have used.

Cons: The instruction manual shows a USB connection in the back that would allow the cord connecting the IPod to be run into the glove box and out of the way. It doesn't have this connection, meaning that you will have to run the cord from the front of the unit. This is annoying for those of us who want a clean look. Also be prepared to add a voltage regulator if you have a Ford factory subwoofer (search Crutchfield support for details). The subwoofer would pop every time we started the car.

I bought this head unit as a first upgrade to my 2010 Mazda. Overall, I'm stoked about this. Took me about an hour to fully install. Crutchfield supplied everything thing i needed, and more. The wire harness converter that comes with the installation gear made it quick and painless to splice the factory wires to the new head unit. Very easy install. The menus and graphics look cooler in person. Navigating the menus is a little difficult to get used to. Fully customizable background and LED lighting is a plus. Works really well with a normal ipod connecter. Displays song/album info w/ album art. The 8 Band EQ is awesome. There's definitely a noticeable difference when using the preamp sub outputs on the Pioneer rather than the line output converter on a factory head unit. Bass is 10x cleaner! The built in low pass filter, high pass filter and bass boost make it easy to get what you want out of your door speakers and subs. There's also the option to make your rear speakers just play lows if you want to add subs but don't want to install an aftermarket external amplifier. Overall, I'm satisfied for my first head unit upgrade.

Pros: Quick and Easy Install, Customizable Colors and Background, Improved/Customizable Sound

Cons: Screen is a tad too small to fully enjoy DVDs, the volume down button and the source button get in the way of each other, weakened my radio signal

I recently got a 2004 RX-8, and of course the stock headunit is decent, but that wasn't good enough for me. After looking online for a little (Mostly Ebay) I decided I would check out crutchfield to see what they have. Amazing selection, and they make it so easy to find what you really need. After comparing prices of Ebay with Crutchfield I realized how cheap they actually are, and on top of it they have much better support than any "Business" on Ebay. On Ebay the price of the unit was around the same, but the new Center Console was 3x's as much as buying it on here. So I went with Crutchfield of course, and they send instruction manuals for everything stereo in the car. I ordered a headunit, and they even sent me instructions on how to get my speakers out. Which I thought was cool even though I didn't need it. Now to the Headunit. Amazing! Simply put I love this headunit. The customization of the backround, and the lights is cool. The click volume controls I don't mind, I actually like it because sometimes the knobs become sketchy and go down instead of up, or up instead of down. The DVD quality is really nice, and the audio and video set up options are extremely easy to use. Sadly I cannot figure out how to use my Andriod to play movies through the headunit, but it's a small issue. If I want to watch a movie just bring a DVD with me. The Ipod hooks up and reads quickly, and allows you to use your screen to control it, and it's very easy to select and move around.

Pros: Touch screen is nice Step by step instructions Looks good Has lot's of customizations Good quality ( I would say for the price, but it would be good for a 500$ unit)

Cons: Actually have to read the Manual to figure out how to watch movies through Ipods or Andriod. (which I still haven't done) Other than that I haven't found anything I don't like.

absolutely stunning product, and great for the price. unless you want bluetooth or hd radio, there's no reason to spend extra money on a more expensive unit, the 1400dvd will do everything you need, and it looks awesome. the only one downside is after installing the unit, i noticed some feedback due to alternator interference, but i'm trying to deal with that with a american international noise filter (yet to be installed). the only other thing is it was kinda hard to cram everything in to my car (i have an 03 avalanche) and it took some work to make it fit. but overall the unit was perfect and i love it!!

I upgraded from the stock Bose system in my 2006 RSX type S to this Pioneer player and I must say it has made a serious difference. Install was easy, took 3hrs total by myself. The Bose had very little power and I got tons of distortion after half volume, with the Pioneer I actually found out that my front two speakers are blown, but I never would have known with the original unit. The features are very nice on the unit, and I get tons of complements on how it looks. Its pretty amazing to watch a DVD while I'm on a break at work or just have some down time away from home. I keep this thing covered up while parked though with a custom screen cover to keep it away from prying eyes. I gave it 4 stars on build quality only because of some of the erganomics of the unit. The volume/source button can sometimes be pressed in such a way that it activates the wrong control, and the USB port cover seems a bit prone to falling off its track and becoming crooked. These are very minor and with a slightly gentler hand they go unnoticed. I could have found this headunit much cheaper at other stores, but I bought from Crutchfield because they included all the install gear and with only 3 days free shipping to get to my house, it couldn't have been a better deal. I also have to peace of mind that if I ever have an issue, Crutchfield will be there to help out. They even sent my a hand written thank you card! Thanks guys, you really brought the music back to my life!

Pros: Tons of features, Great power, very simple to operate (barely needs a manual), Installation did take soldering but it was very easy, being able to color match the lights to the interior was wonderful, DVD IN CAR, value for price is unheard of with Crutchfield and gear.

Cons: The only thing I couldn't say in my review was that I did not need the $15 optional power converter as I did not have a stock Bose amp (found that out after installing). Physical button ergonomics could be better refined, but it only mixes up signals rarely. This Pioneer unit may not be the highest model, but it sure trumps any system I've put in a car before.

This is a great setup for those on a budget. Easy to navigate through the menus as well as a good display. Its a little interesting not having a dial for volume or to navigate through menus.

Pros: Great display. Easy install. ipod / iphone connection to navigate through music and pandora.

Cons: not as many bells and whistles as the higher end models. (You get what you pay for though, so overall not an issue)

    Great!

Overall this unit gets you the most bang for your buck. Its a nice good looking unit that does not break the bank. It has all the features and expandability you could want. The touch screen is good but nothing close to being like a smart phone but has good resolution for a lower end unit. If HD radio and Bluetooth are not big factors right now this Pioneer is the way to go because you can always add those functions later.

Pros: All the outputs and inputs you could need. A muliband EQ.

Cons: A little sluggish at reading my flash drive compared to my other single din pioneer but no big deal.

I am so impressed with this receiver and I haven't even used all the features yet. I had purchased this for my wife to replace another new JVC receiver that I returned. My wife did not like the JVC I purchased and this one looked very tempting. Installed and worked perfectly with our 2007 Honda Odyssey and Axxess ASWC steering wheel control. The JVC and ASWC did not work together. The touch screen is very nice. My wife loves this unit and it shows the time when the unit is off while the ACC or ignition is on.

Pros: Very nice display Touch screen easy to use Variable colors and themes

    Cons: None

I did the install myself, recieved everything I needed and more. I spent some time trying to figure out if I needed all the stuff because I figure if the sent it to me then I should install it. Well I didnt need the antenna adapter or the rca filter or where the 2 brown wires go. I am not useing it now and I dont hear any pops or static in my 2006 mustang gt shaker 500. Once I got it all done and got to play with it, I have to say WOW what a great upgrade. Can't wait to show it off.

Pros: Fantastic price and the trusted name of pioneer. Lets face it, they put out a great affordable product.

Cons: I wish the instructions to the wireing where vehicle specific that generic. Wouldnt hurt to put a video for each car or a wire diagram to make it easier for us rookies.

I just had this unit installed today...It took a few minutes to figure most of everything out...Going from turning knobs and pressing buttons to a high speed touch screen was a little tough at first..Now that I have it figured out, this thing rocks..I added a Cadence F100-5 Amp, Memphis audio speakers and Sub. Now I'm in Audio heaven.

Pros: Whats not to like..It rocks

Cons: It takes a while to master how the unit works...I'll never be able to go back to a OEM head unit!

    Love it!

I find this product to be very satisfactory. There are many sound quaility adjustments that can be made, and I like the choices for that concerning the type of music I'm listening to. It fit great, great help/support from the company, and they make it personable. This company really knows what customer service is all about and strive to do their best.

Pros: Ipod, USB flash drive, CD, Radio, DVD..... what more could you want. I personally am just so happy to get the old cd player out of my truck that kept trying to initialize cds that were stuck in it. Good adjustment control for equilizer, subwoofer, etc.

Cons: Takes a little playing around with to find all the things you are looking for on it. Like the saved Radio Stations, and it lists the stations by what song is playing, so I have to keep a mental tab on what station I put in what slot. Also, the screen has a glare at times considering the sunlight and direction, so it is difficult to read or see the screen if wanting to change the station or device at that time. This is why I rated it a 4 on ease of use.

i installed an avh-14oodvd on my 09' charger without any major issues. Crutchfield says this stereo fits my car. not exactly true. i needed to chip away some of the inside plastic sleeve of my dash to fit. that was the hardest part for the install. other than that, this unit looks perfect in my dash. i am very happy with this unit, especially the touch screen, very awesome. the color variations on the display are great and the sound quality is very noticable. ipod controls are great. you do need an iphone if you want pandora, not amdroid. this stereo is really geared for iphone/ipod. not sure about the hd radio, havent bought it because of bad reveiws. dvd's look and sound great. with a little research, the parking bypass wasnt to hard. very happy with this purchase.

    Pros: great display. sound quality.

Cons: the circle control on the left- they messed this part up. it takes a while to get used to. and the USB input should be in the back of the unit.

Great radio put it in my 350Z to replace the stock Bose headunit and by far its the best head unit I've owned. Easy to use, great EQ adjustments, and very nice Iphone capabilties and great picture on the screen. Cool feature is the button color adjustment I was actually able to match the rest of my interior lighting.

Pros: Great screen, easy to use, very clean looking

Cons: Wish the AUX and USB Ipod plugs were in the back so I could conceal my cables but it works

Great receiver. I was shopping for a receiver for a while and finally decided to go with it. No regrets and no complains about it as it was easy to install. Thanks to Crutchfield for the wire harness and Tech support. The receiver made the stock speakers sound pretty alright but will upgrade stock speakers to a Pioneer soon.

Pros: Looks great! The audio adjustments, 8 band EQ in general. Color adjustments to match the interior light and easy to use.

Great deck, I recently got a new car which the dash kit was pricey so I upgraded to this deck for half off the kit. So far its awesome, still learning it, added a backup camera and love it. The cons I add aren't really that major but they should be noted in my opinion. And if anyone knows how to access iPod mode please share it would help greatly

Pros: Color choices, expandability, looks great, feels solid. The equalizer is great, I usually bought Pioneers with the 3-band, but having 8-band is really nice, just gotta find my tuning preference. Video/movies look great on this thing, I was shocked at the clarity.

Cons: A little hard to control iPod from the unit, couldn't find the "iPod control mode". I found the app mode but the music doesn't play from that. Fairly complicated menu system to have to scroll through while driving just to switch through playlists. I might be doing things the hard way, but I haven't found any easy method. Wiring the backup camera and parking brake were difficult, wouldn't have been able to find it without an experienced mechanic.

I've been thinking about purchasing a new stereo with blue tooth to stream music and have continued to see mixed reviews about every unit over the last 6 months, until this one came along. So I took the plunge and I'm so glad I did. The installation went smooth, sans a support bracket in my 2010 Wrangler, but that's no fault of the unit. It fired right up and synced with my Iphone 4s instantly. My play lists and phone lists were available quickly. The streamed music is crystal clear!

Pros: Great Sound and Great Blue Tooth streaming and voice

Cons: So far, not able to select streamed songs on head unit. Only able to pause, stop and advance to next song on list.

Great radio, like everything about it so far since the 3 days iv'e had it installed. Easy install, but don't really like the universal mounting bracket, pritty flimsy, not pioneer's or crutchfields fault though... I made sure that all my wiring sat beneath the radio to help support it because I didn't trust the bracket :P It sits steady now and looks awesome. Glare is not too much of a problem and all the custom colors you can do for the screen are great. Got around the emergency brake so my passenger can watch stuff while i'm driving too :)

Pros: Perfect price package and looks amazing

Cons: None except for the aftermarket mounting bracket

I just installed this unit the other day and LOVING it so far. It has a lot customization for the display and has some pretty cool and lively backgrounds to choose from. My only complaint so far is the placement of the "source" button. I frequently find myself accidentally changing the source when all I want to do is adjust the volume (I suppose this is why many prefer an actual volume knob). Also,I wish Pioneer didn't get rid of the SD card slot on their lower models.

Pros: A lot of bang for the buck, loaded with features, upgradeable (GPS and Bluetooth), really good equalizer and audio settings, plays movies and videos off USB, FAST (this is not a slow/laggy unit)

Cons: Placement of the "source" button, no SD slot

    Touchscreen Display

5.8" TFT LCD Touchscreen Color Display: The AVH-P1400DVD features a 5.8" TFT Active Matrix, 16:9 widescreen touchscreen display. The resolution of the display is 480 x 240 x RGB, for a total of 345,600 pixels. The touchscreen display allows you to control this unit and a connected component such as an iPod/iPhone, Satellite radio receiver, HD Radio tuner, or USB Flash memory. Menus appear on screen for making function choices, audio adjustments, and setting up the system. The unit has a front-loading disc-slot to make loading your disc easier, because there is no panel to slide or fold-down.

Note: The fixed touchscreen display is not removable.

Multilingual Display: The Pioneer AVH-P1400DVD offers English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish text.

Video Adjustments: You can store numerous video settings for each source and the optional rear view camera; including brightness (adjusts the black intensity), contrast (adjusts contrast), color (adjusts color saturation), hue (adjusts the tone of color), temperature (adjust the color temperature), RGB (adjusts phase shifting), and black level (emphasizes dark portions of images).

Widescreen Modes: You can choose from the following widescreen modes when playing back video:

    • Full: A 4:3 picture is enlarged in the horizontal direction only, enabling you to enjoy a 4:3 picture without any omissions.
    • Just: The picture is enlarged slightly at the center and the amount of enlargement increases horizontally toward the ends of the picture.
    • Zoom: A 4:3 picture is enlarged in the same proportion both vertically and horizontally; ideal for a 16:9 screen.
    • Cinema: A picture is enlarged by the same proportion as Full or Zoom in the horizontal direction and by an intermediate proportion between Full and Zoom in the vertical direction.
    • Normal: A 4:3 picture is displayed as it is.

On Screen Display Color & Background Adjustment: The color of the on-screen display can be set to red, amber, green, blue or white. The background can be set to one of four preset still images, one of three preset movie images, a stored JPEG image, a video image from the external input, the clock, or turned Off.

Front-Panel Control w/ Custom Illumination: In addition to the touchscreen controls, the unit includes frequently used buttons along the left edge of the screen. The color of the button illumination can be set to red, amber, green, blue, white, or scan (constantly cycling through the color spectrum). You can also create a custom color to match your vehicle's interior lighting (112 colors to choose from).

Dimmer: To prevent the display from being too bright at night, the display is automatically dimmed when the car's headlights are turned on. The automatic dimmer function only works when the orange/white illumination wire in the wiring harness is connected to the vehicle's headlight circuit.

Parking Brake Interlock: This unit has a parking brake interlock system that prohibits viewing of video programming and operating certain controls when the vehicle is in motion. In order to watch video on the in-dash monitor, the vehicle must be parked with the parking brake engaged. The head unit's light green wire must be connected to your vehicle's parking brake detection circuit.

Note: The head unit's touchscreen will display "Attention! Viewing of front seat video source while driving is strictly prohibited", if you try to watch a video when your vehicle is in motion.

2-DIN Chassis: The Pioneer AVH-P1400DVD has a 2-DIN chassis (also known as "Double DIN" or size DD), and will fit in many vehicles with a large dash opening. The unit can be ISO-mounted using factory brackets. There is also an optional double-DIN sleeve ( 130ADTV133, sold separately) available for this unit that will allow you to Euro-mount or custom mount the Pioneer head unit in your vehicle.

Note: As always, please consult Crutchfield's Outfit My Car to verify fit with your vehicle.

iPod/iPhone AV Playback: The Pioneer multimedia head unit supports both audio/video playback from a compatible iPod or iPhone. Using your iPod or iPhone's USB/Dock cable you can enjoy audio playback of your stored music, podcasts, and Pandora Internet Radio on your iPod or iPhone through the Pioneer A/V head unit. • Head Unit: From the head unit, you can search your iPod/iPhone's audio/video content by Video Playlist, Movie, Music Video, Video Podcast, TV Show, Playlist, Artist, Album, Song, Podcast, Genre, Composer, or Audiobook (your iPod/iPhone's clickwheel or touchscreen will be locked). Once you have selected a category, you can search each category alphabetically (A-Z). In addition, the head unit offers Link Search, which allows you to play songs related to the currently playing song. Link Search lets the head unit create an album list of the currently playing artist, a song list of the currently playing album, or an album list of the currently playing genre. In addition, you can receive audible/visual directions from navigation apps, such as Motion X GPS Drive. Not all apps will be compatible with App Mode and App Mode will provide only limited (basic), if any, control over the app. Available controls may include - Play/Pause & Skip Previous/Next. The Pioneer AVH-P1400DVD will provide control over the Pandora music service & display Artist, Album, & Song information; as well as Album art.

    • Station List: You can select Pandora stations from your Station List by date or alphabetically (A-Z).

    • Skip Songs: You can skip song tracks within a station. You cannot skip back to a previous song. Pandora limits the number of skips allowed.
    • Thumbs Up/Down: You can give songs a thumbs up or thumbs down to help Pandora personalize stations to suit your preferences.
    • Bookmarking: The song or artist currently being played can be bookmarked & stored in your Pandora account.

Note: Access to the Pandora service will depend on the availability of a cellular and/or WiFi network for purposes of allowing your iPhone to connect to the Internet. Pandora is not supported in Canada & only available in the United States.

iPod Charging: The head unit's USB connection provides 1A of current to power and charge your connected iPod/iPhone when your vehicle's ignition switch is set to the 'ACC' or 'On' position.
