Our take on the Pioneer AVH-P3300BT

by Ken Nail
Pioneer

DVD receivers: They're not just for movies

DVD receivers add a new level of entertainment to your vehicle. You can watch a movie on the screen when you're parked on a Saturday night, or play a DVD through your rear seat video setup on the road. Touchscreen receivers allow you to breeze through menus with the tip of your finger. Most DVD receivers feature a USB input for audio from your iPod, and the ability to add an adapter that allows video to display on the screen. Some receivers even offer connections for a center speaker and a subwoofer, so you can build a full-fledged theater in your car, just like at home.

Pioneer designed the AVH-P3300BT DVD receiver for all you multimedia fans who also want hands-free calling as part of the overall package. When a call comes in, this Pioneer will mute the music and allow you to take the call on your compatible phone without taking your hands off the wheel — that's a real safety advantage when you're on the road.

Listen to online content with Pandora Link
If you're into Pandora®, now you can put it on board. Just download Pioneer's free Pandora Link app, hook up your iPhone to the receiver's USB port with the optional iPod cable, and you can use the receiver's controls to navigate your way through your Pandora stations. You'll enjoy total control over Pandora, including displays of artist, album, and song information on the receiver's colorful screen.

Touchscreen paradise
The crystal-clear 5.8" color touchscreen serves as the receiver's point of access. Pioneer's designers put a lot of thought into creating a user-friendly display with intuitive controls, and you'll never get tired of whipping through menus and settings by tapping, swiping, or dragging icons.

Enjoy entertainment options
Just connect your iPod® to the front USB input and you'll be able to use the receiver's controls to access your music. Again, Pioneer concentrates on giving you a great user experience — you'll find your tunes by browsing through albums, artists, and playlists on the touchscreen, or by activating Alphabet Search to zero in quickly on your favorites. You'll have a wealth of different ways to play your music, photos, and video too.

Finally, for movies and more, the high-def touchscreen displays video content from a variety of sources when you're parked, and there's a rear video output for connecting external monitors for the passengers in back. You'll need Pioneer's optional CD-IU50V iPod cable to view video content from your iPod or iPhone.

Sound quality that rocks your ride
Turn up the music, and check out the clean, powerful output from the built-in amp. When you're ready for some fine tuning, the 8-band equalizer will adjust your system to sound its best in your vehicle, while the built-in frequency filters maximize the performance of your speaker setup. This receiver also offers 4-volt preamp outputs that'll send a super-clean signal to any outboard amps.

Expand your horizons
You can hook up an optional satellite radio tuner, for an impressive variety of news, sports, talk, and commercial-free music. Or plug in an HD Radio™ tuner to enjoy the high-fidelity sound of free AM/FM broadcasts from participating stations. The A/V input is perfect for adding resources like a gaming console.

If you want to stay on course in your travels, Pioneer's navigation module will give you instant access to maps of the U.S. and Canada. For those tight spots, you can connect a rear-view camera for extra safety when backing up..

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

iPod note: If you're going to use your iPod with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this receiver or its optional iPod adapter.

    Display Features

2-DIN Chassis: The Pioneer AVH-P3300BT has a 2-DIN chassis (also known as "Double DIN" or size DD), and will fit in many vehicles with a large dash opening. The unit can be ISO-mounted using factory brackets.

Note: As always, please consult the Crutchfield Car Selector to verify fit with your vehicle.

5.8" TFT LCD Touchscreen Color Display: The AVH-P3300BT features a 5.8" TFT Active Matrix, 16:9 widescreen touchscreen display. The resolution of the display is 1440 x 240, for a total of 345,600 pixels. The touchscreen display allows you to control this unit and a paired Bluetooth device, or a connected component such as an iPod/iPhone, Satellite radio receiver, HD Radio tuner, or USB Flash memory. Menus appear on screen for making function choices, audio adjustments, and setting up the system. The unit has a front-loading disc-slot to make loading your disc easier, because there is no panel to slide or fold-down.

Note: The fixed touchscreen display is not removable.

Multilingual Display: The Pioneer AVH-P3300BT offers English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish text.

Video Adjustments: You can store numerous video settings for each source and the optional rear view camera; including brightness (adjusts the black intensity), contrast (adjusts contrast) color (adjusts color saturation), hue (adjusts the tone of color), temperature (adjust the color temperature), RGB (adjusts phase shifting), and black level (emphasizes dark portions of images).

Widescreen Modes: You can choose from the following widescreen modes when playing back video:

    • Full: A 4:3 picture is enlarged in the horizontal direction only, enabling you to enjoy a 4:3 picture without any omissions.
    • Just: The picture is enlarged slightly at the center and the amount of enlargement increases horizontally toward the ends of the picture.
    • Zoom: A 4:3 picture is enlarged in the same proportion both vertically and horizontally; ideal for a 16:9 screen.
    • Cinema: A picture is enlarged by the same proportion as Full or Zoom in the horizontal direction and by an intermediate proportion between Full and Zoom in the vertical direction.
    • Normal: A 4:3 picture is displayed as it is.

On Screen Display Color And Background Adjustment: The color of the on-screen display can be set to red, amber, green, blue or white. The background can be set to one of four preset still images, one of three preset movie images, a stored JPEG image, a video image from the external input, the clock, or turned Off.

Note: To view a video image, the background image needs to be set to 'Off'.

Front-Panel Controls With Adjustable Illumination: In addition to the touchscreen controls, the unit includes frequently used buttons along the left edge of the screen. The color of the button illumination can be set to red, amber, green, blue, white, or scan (constantly cycling through the color spectrum). You can also create a custom color using the unit's on-screen menu.

Dimmer: To prevent the display from being too bright at night, the display is automatically dimmed when the car's headlights are turned on. You can turn the dimmer on or off. The automatic dimmer function only works when the orange/white illumination wire in the wiring harness is connected to the vehicle's headlight circuit.

Parking Brake Interlock: This unit has a parking brake interlock system that prohibits viewing of video programming and operating certain controls when the vehicle is in motion. In order to watch video on the in-dash monitor, the vehicle must be parked with the parking brake engaged.

    Audio Section

24-Bit/96kHz DAC: For superb quality audio playback from DVDs, CDs, and flash media, the Pioneer AVH-P3300BT is equipped with a 24-bit/96kHz digital-to-analog converter.

MOSFET50 Internal Amplifier: This receiver is equipped with a 50 watts x 4 (peak) MOSFET amplifier for low distortion, high power output. The amplifier is strong enough to power small subwoofers to moderate volume levels in compact cars and pickups. For higher volume levels from subwoofers, an optional amplifier may be connected to the preamp outputs.

CEA2006 Compliant: The power specifications for the AVH-P3300BT are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers. The power output specs are as follows:

    • CEA2006 Specs: 14 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N)
    • Continuous Power Output: 22 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 50Hz-15kHz, 5% THD)
    • Maximum Power Output: 50 watts x 4 channels (or 50 watts x 2 channels at 4 ohms + 70 watts x 1 channel at 2 ohms for subwoofer)

EEQ (Easy EQ): there are seven stored equalizer curves which you can easily recall at any time. You can choose from - Powerful, Natural, Vocal, Super Bass, Flat, Custom 1, or Custom 2.

8-Band Graphic EQ: The Custom 1 and Custom 2 EQ modes allow you to manually adjust the level (+/- 12dB) of each band of the head unit's 8-band graphic equalizer (40Hz, 80Hz, 200Hz, 400Hz, 1kHz, 2.5kHz, 8kHz, and10kHz).

Auto EQ (Optional): The auto-equalizer automatically measures your car's interior acoustic characteristics, and then creates an auto-equalizer curve base on that information. The Pioneer CD-MC20 Auto-EQ microphone ( 130CDMC20, sold separately) is required to use this function. The Pioneer CD-MC20 Auto-EQ microphone plugs into your compatible Pioneer A/V receiver's front-panel 3.5mm input. The Auto-EQ microphone should be placed in the center of your vehicle's driver seat headrest facing forward for EQ measurement.

Sonic Center Control: Sound that is suited for the listening position can easily be created with this function. You can adjust sound more toward the listening position left (7) to right (7).

Loudness: The Loudness function compensates for deficiencies in the low- and high-frequency ranges at low volume. You can set the Loudness to High, Mid, Low, or Off.

Bass Boost: You can easily boost the subwoofer bass level by using the Bass Boost function. The Bass Boost feature allows you increase the subwoofer level from 0 to +6.

Advanced Sound Retriever: The Advanced Sound Retriever automatically enhances compressed audio and restores the original richness of the recording. When the Advanced Sound Retriever is on, the high frequency range is compensated to match the frequency response curve to the original sound. There are two available levels of the Advanced Sound Retriever effect.

Source Level Adjustment (SLA): This function lets you adjust the volume level of each source to prevent radical changes in volume when switching between sources. Settings are based on the volume level of the FM tuner, which remains unchanged. Each source can be independently adjusted from -4 dB to +4 dB.

Three 4-Volt Preamp Outputs: The Pioneer AVH-P3300BT is equipped with three 4-Volt preamp outputs (Front/Rear/Subwoofer). The front and rear speakers are fading with high-pass crossover filters, while the subwoofer output is non-fading with a low-pass crossover filter.

    • Front and Rear Preamp Outputs: If you do not want low frequency sounds to play from the front or rear speaker preamp outputs (or speaker outputs), you can turn on the 12dB/octave High Pass Filter. The HPF has a selectable cutoff frequency (50, 63, 80, 100, or 125 Hz). Only frequencies higher than those in the selected range are output through the speakers.
    • Subwoofer Output: The unit has a pair of dedicated non-fading RCA subwoofer outputs with a low-pass filter, phase adjustment, and output level. When the subwoofer output is turned on, you can select the frequency of the 18dB/octave low pass filter (50, 63, 80, 100, or 125 Hz), select the subwoofer phase (normal/reverse), and the subwoofer gain (+6 to -24).

Rear Channel Speaker Output: You can choose to use the rear channel output (speaker and preout) for full-range speaker or subwoofer. If you select "subwoofer", you can connect a 4-ohm subwoofer directly to each rear speaker lead, or a 2-ohm subwoofer to one of the rear speaker leads, without using an external amplifier.

Telephone Mute/Attenuator: Sound from your system is muted or attenuated automatically when a phone signal is received when you have hardwired your mobile phone system to the mute wire (yellow/black) of this unit.

    Radio Functions

Supertuner IIID AM/FM Tuner: The Supertuner IIID features Feed Forward Control, which avoids multi-path interference. This pre-detection of interference enables quick filter control and results in less distortion. In addition, the Supertuner IIID creates enhanced stereo during multi-path interference, unlike conventional tuners that collapse to mono. Digital processing reduces distortion, and improves Signal-to-Noise Ratio and stereo separation. Advanced analog technology improves signal processing sensitivity.

RDS: The Radio Data System (RDS) feature displays radio broadcast information such as artist, title, and album when listening to compatible AM/FM stations.

BSM (Best Stations Memory): BSM lets you automatically store the six strongest stations under preset buttons 1-6 of the currently tuned band. The tuner has 3 FM banks and 1 AM bank. You can store 6 presets for each bank giving you a total of 18 FM presets and 6 AM presets.

Local Tuning: Local seek tuning lets you tune in only those radio stations with sufficiently strong signals for good reception. There are 4 level of sensitivity for FM and two levels for AM. The higher settings allow reception of only the strongest stations, while lower settings let you receive progressively weaker stations.

Satellite Radio Ready: You can connect and control an external satellite radio tuner from XM or Sirius. The XM or Sirius satellite radio tuner connects via the IP-Bus connector on the back of the head unit.

    • XM Satellite Radio: The head unit is compatible with the GEX-P920XM ( 130P920XM, sold separately) Pioneer XM receiver.
    • Sirius Satellite Radio: For Sirius there are two options; connect the SC-C1 SiriusConnect Universal Vehicle tuner and the CD-SB10 Pioneer Sirius Satellite Radio interface ( 700SIRPION, sold separately), or use the Pioneer Sirius Satellite Radio interface ( 130CDSB10, sold separately) and the SIRIUS dock-and-play adapter ( 607SCVDOC1, sold separately) along with a compatible portable SIRIUS radio.

Note: A subscription to XM or Sirius, plus the proper antenna is required in order to receive satellite radio programming.

HD Radio Ready: This unit is compatible with the optional Pioneer GEX-P20HD HD Radio tuner ( 130GEXP20H, sold separately) allowing you to tune available HD Radio stations. HD Radio features high quality audio, FM multi-casting, and data services. The add-on HD Radio tuner also supports iTunes Tagging which allows you to save song information (tag) from an HD Radio broadcasting station to your connected iPod or iPhone. The saved songs will show up in a playlist called "Tagged" in iTunes the next time you sync your iPod. Then you can directly buy the songs you want from the iTunes Music Store. The optional HD Radio tuner connects through the head unit's IP-BUS interface.

Note: Right now there are about 2,000 radio stations broadcasting using digital HD Radio technology in the U.S. To find HD Radio stations in your area, visit the HD Radio website (HDRadio.com).

    • App Mode: The App Mode lets you enjoy video content from iTunes apps, such as - Safari, YouTube, Netflix, and other select apps (iPhone app must support video output) from your iPhone 4 on the Pioneer head unit's high resolution touchscreen. You can control basic playback functions (Play/Pause, Fast Forward/Reverse Previous/Next) of these applications from the Pioneer head unit. The App Mode feature can only be accessed when the vehicle is in park and the hand-brake is fully engaged.

Note: The App mode is only supported by the iPhone 4.

iPod/iPhone Display: The multimedia head unit will display your iPod/iPhone's music file information, including - Track number, Folder number, Elapsed playing time, Song title, Artist name, Album label, and Album art.

Note: There is no music information displayed when this unit is set to 'App Mode'. Instead, all music information will be displayed on your iPod/iPhone's LCD screen. The head unit's LCD touchscreen will only display the text - 'App Mode'.

iTunes Tagging: The multimedia head unit's built-in AM/FM RDS tuner supports iTunes Tagging, so you can save a song's information (tag) from an FM RDS broadcasting station to your connected iPod/iPhone. iTunes Tagging gives you the ability to "tag" your favorite FM RDS radio station songs and store the information on your connected iPod/iPhone; without having to scramble for a piece of scrap paper in the car or remember what song it was. Then later you can connect your iPod/iPhone to your PC and preview or purchase the "tagged" music at the iTunes Music Store. The songs will show up in a playlist called "Tagged" in iTunes the next time you sync your iPod/iPhone. Then you can directly buy the songs you want from the iTunes Music Store.

Pandora App: Pandora App lets you play music from the Pandora music service through the Pioneer AVH-P3300BT using your connected Apple iPhone, via the Pioneer CD-IU50V or CD-IU51V iPod connector cable (sold separately) or the USB/iPod dock cable that came with your iPhone. To access Pandora you must have an Apple iPhone (ver. 3.0), iPhone 3G (ver. 3.0 or later), iPhone 3GS (ver.3.0 or later), or iPhone 4 (ver. 4.0) with the latest version of the Pandora application from Apple's iTunes App Store. Your iPhone will need an active Data Plan account with connection to the Internet via 3G, EDGE, or WiFi. You will also need a Pandora music service account. The Pioneer AVH-P3300BT provides control over your Pandora music service and displays Artist, Album, and Song information; as well as Album art.

Note: Access to the Pandora service will depend on the availability of a cellular and/or WiFi network for purposes of allowing your iPhone to connect to the Internet. Pandora is not supported in Canada and only available in the United States.

iPod/iPhone Charging: The head unit's USB connection will power and charge your connected iPod/iPhone battery when your vehicle's ignition switch is set to the 'ACC' or 'On' position.

Note: If your iPod/iPhone has no initial battery charge, then the unit will not recognize it.

    Built-in Bluetooth

Bluetooth Technology: The AVH-P3300BT is equipped with built-in Bluetooth ver. 2.0 (powered by Parrot) allowing to make and receive phone calls wirelessly through the receiver. Bluetooth Technology is a short-range wireless radio connectivity technology that was developed as a cable replacement for mobile phones and other electronic devices. Bluetooth operates in 2.4 GHz frequency range and transmits voice and data at speeds up to 1 megabit per second. In order to use Bluetooth wireless technology, your phone must be able to interpret certain profiles. This unit is compatible with the following: HFP (Hands Free Profile), HSP (Head Set Profile), and OPP (Object Push Profile).

Note: The AVH-P3300BT does not support Bluetooth Audio Streaming (A2DP/AVRCP).

Phone Pairing: Up to 5 Bluetooth-compatible devices can be registered to this head unit. Only one device can be used at a time.

Note: Not all Bluetooth mobile devices will be compatible. Visit Pioneer's website for a complete list of compatible Bluetooth enabled phones.

Hands-Free Communication: The AVH-P3300BT supports wireless hands-free communication (HFP/HSP/OPP) for your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone. The head unit will display the caller's information and an audible ring tone will be heard through your vehicle's speaker during an incoming call. You can manually answer an incoming call or have the unit automatically answer the call. The AVH-P3300BT allows you to carry on a phone conversation from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone using the head unit's external microphone and your car audio speakers. During a conversation you can adjust the volume, as well as switch between the Private Mode (talking directly on your cell phone) and the Hands Free Mode. Using the AVH-P3300BT, you can dial a phone number in one of the following ways:

    • Entering a Phone Number: You can make a call by entering the phone number using the head unit's on-screen keypad (0-9, *, #, +, C).
    • Speed (Preset) Dialing: You can easily store up to six phone numbers as presets for speed dialing.
    • Phone Book: The phone book in your Bluetooth enabled cellular phone will be transferred automatically when the phone is paired to this unit. After finding the number you want to call in the phone book, you can select the entry and make the call. If a lot of numbers are registered in the phone book, you can search for the phone number by alphabet search mode.
    • Call Log: The 80 most recent calls dialed, received, and missed are stored in memory. You can browse them and call numbers from these lists.

External Microphone: During your wireless phone call, you can talk into the head unit's included microphone, and listen to the other party through the vehicle's speaker system. The microphone features a 13' cord that plugs into the back of the radio, and comes with an adjustable visor-mount clip.

    AV Connections

AV Auxiliary Input: The AVH-P3300BT has an AV 3.5mm mini-jack auxiliary input on the front-panel panel for connecting a portable audio/video device.

AV RCA Input: There is a rear-panel A/V input (composite video/stereo RCA audio) for connecting a video component such as a VCR or game console.

AV Output (with Dual Zone): The AVH-P3300BT features a rear-panel composite RCA video/3.5mm audio output that allows you to connect an external display to the unit. You can playback audio/video content from a DVD/CD disc, the front AV input, the rear AV input, or the same source as the built-in monitor. You can select the unit to output a 16:9, Letter-Box or Pan-Scan aspect ratio to match your external display's screen size.

Note: You cannot play DivX files on the unit's monitor and a connected external monitor at the same time.

Rear View Camera: The AVH-P3300BT is equipped with a composite video Rear View Camera input. The unit features a function that automatically switches to the rear camera image (Rear View Camera input jack) when an optional rear camera ( 130NDBC4, sold separately) is installed. When the transmission is in reverse, the screen automatically switches to the rear view camera (the violet/white wire in the AVH-P3300BT's harness must be connected to the vehicle's reverse lamp circuit for automatic video switching). Pioneer recommends using a camera with a mirror image (reversed) output.

    Remote Control

Wireless Remote Control: The Pioneer AVH-P3300BT includes an IR remote control (CXE3877) for wireless operation of the multimedia head unit and your connected devices.

Steering Wheel Remote Compatibility: The head unit features an OEM steering wheel remote control input on the rear of the unit to allow you to keep your vehicle's radio steering wheel remote controls when used with the optional PAC SWI-PS Steering Wheel Control Interface Adapter (127SWIPS, sold separately); or the optional Metra ASWC Steering Wheel Control Interface Adapter (120ASWC, sold separately).

Did some research and found this deck to be exactly what I was looking for.
    Pros:
    Good System
    Cons:
Would like to see the ability to change things and work with other phones instead of the Iphone. Would also like to use a playlist instead of having to use folders

Why did they discontinue a great product?

Written By Emile M, Queens,,New York on Saturday, June 02, 2012

After extensive research for a replacement of my stock 2008 4runner radio/cd, I settled on this AVH-P3300BT. PC Richard had it for $299 with free installation, but with harness and other parts, everything came to $500+. I have absolutely no regrets. The sound is superb. The video is crisp. The control buttons are easily accessible. The upside with the bluetooth is that if my cell phone rings while driving, the music or radio cuts off and I can have a conversation using a small microphone tucked into behind the driver side sun visor above my head. Every word is crystal clear. The downside with this is that anyone in the car also hears my conversation. It does have rear camera capability, but this is an extra cost.
    Pros:
Great product that delivers without even needing to replace the stock speakers. It
    Cons:
It does not have navigation, but I use my old Tom Toms when going on interstate travels.

This unit is the best! It was also very easy to install into my Nissan Frontier. It has so many cool features. I really love using the Pandora option. It really made my factory speakers sound better. I'm still gonna replace them though so I can get a better sound. The display is incredible. It really seems like there is nothing this unit can't do! The App Mode is pretty awesome too. I can stream my Navigation app and Netflix app on my phone through the display which is way too cool. I am very happy with this purchase. The price wasn't too expensive either.
    Pros:
App Mode, Pandora App, and back up camera option.
    Cons:
The Blu Tooth connection device didn't come with the unit.

Great radio...easy installation, great features. A few friends have one and I had to pick one up. The ability to stream movies from the iPod is great. The improvement in sound quality is simply amazing. I contemplated changing the factory speakers in my 2004 matrix but it wasnt necessary. If you buy this you won't be disappointed!

It's good but a bit expensive

Written By Greg, Atlanta, GA on Tuesday, January 31, 2012
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I did a ton of research and this is a decent receiver for the $$$ but a little on the expensive side. I thought the NAV version was really expensive. It sounds good in my 2003 Jetta however I think my stock sub it a bit woofy and can not seem to EQ with the Pioneer. I don't think it is the fault of the Pioneer and will upgrade the sub to see if it does the trick.

It is fairly straighforward to use and the manual is clear so no complaints.

The app mode does not seem to work too well with my iPhone 3Gs. I can't seem to get my GPS nav app on my phone to work on the screen on the Pioneer. Same for the videos I try to play. It must be a software issue because the GPS app works great from my wife's iPhone 4Gs.
    Pros:
    Sound, ease of use
    Cons:
Price. Does not have bluetooth voice recognition that I am aware of for the phone. My Hyundai I sold had it. To get my iPhone 3Gs to connect to the Bluetooth phone I have to turn the Bluetooth off on my iPhone and turn it back on everytime I get back in to the car to get it to connect. If there is a work around I would love to know. Crutchfields "awesome" install instructions were awful considering steering wheel control, satellite radio and HD radio had to be installed. Go pro install!

    Great Upgrade from Stock Unit

Written By PaulK, Dallas, TX on Monday, January 30, 2012
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a very nice unit and am very pleased with it so far. I am hearing detail in the music that I wasn't hearing with my stock unit in my 2000 Tundra. The iPhone integration and the App Mode functions are tremendous. Got full Nav capability simply by purchasing a 99 cent app on my iPhone which works in App Mode. Added the Pioneer GEX-920XM Satellite radio module and now have a very clean setup. Previously my setup consisted of the separate XM tuner + an aux interface to connect it to my stock head unit along with the cable to connect my iPhone. Wires were everywhere on the passenger floor board. No longer.

Was fortunate to get this unit on sale as it is now a discontinued model and its replacement is higher in price.
    Pros:
Excellent integration with iPhone/iPod. Great sound and expandability. Built in Bluetooth. Will be adding a backup camera as well.
    Cons:
The graphical user interface (GUI) is somewhat clunky and the touch screen is a little slow to respond. I know Pioneer can do better after seeing what they did with their new App Radios, one of which I almost purchased.

Ecellent head unit with great features

Written By Rick, Pasadena, MD on Wednesday, January 18, 2012
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This was a good fit for my 2005 Mustang GT. With the Ford installation kit it integrated nicely in the dash and played well with the Shaker 100 system in the car. Getting iPod/iPhone video to the display always seemed tricky. There is a trick to it that I didn't get a chance to master as the car has since been wrecked and not repairable. The special accessary cable for delivering the video is awful stiff and too short but it worked. Anyone need a good headunit ready to install in a Mustang?
    Pros:
Ease of use was mostly very good. Installation was a snap. Good features, customizable display and colors.
    Cons:
Tricky video display from iPod/iPhone. Expensive optional cable for this feature. Inability to give name tags to preset stations. Adding one's own image for display on the screen is a bit complex.

Good Sound - But Lacking In Other Ways

Written By BenB, Philadelphia PA on Monday, December 26, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installation was a breeze on my 2011 Nissan Xterra - looks like a factory install.

This Pioneer has an excellent AM / FM receiver definetly pulls in stations from a good distance. I live in Philadelphia and have no proplem getting the big AM statiions from NY any time of day.

The sound quality of the unit is very good. With the stock radio sound was a bit bass heavy - with a small amount of EQ applied from the Pioneer - I am amazed at how well the factory speakers sound.

The LCD screen on the Pioner is typical of LCD technology - blacks appear grey and if you dont sit directly in front of the unit all the color washes out (just move your head side to side and you will see). Since the unit sits in the middle of the dash - no one gets to see it at its best. Compare the screen on this to an AMOLED smartphone screen and you will see how lousey it is.

Worse than than the screen is the way the device handles music on an SD card (or flash drive). Anything more than an 8 gig card (I run class 10 cards) and you will wait forever fot the device to read the format. Installation was a breeze on my 2011 Nissan Xterra - looks like a factory install.

Good sound buy eye candy, screen & card reader need work.

    Pros:
    - Excellent Sound Quality - Strong AM-FM Receiver - Easy Installation
    Cons:
    - Poor LCD Screen - Slow SD Card Reader / Crappy Folder Management - No Flash Storage For Screen Saver

I love this head unit, there is nothing I don't like about!.. Really easy to use, the blue tooth that came with the HU is awesome and really clear. I get so my compliments for it. I also already had a back up camera and used it and works perfect during any weather so clear. I also have a system and I couldn't ask for a better HU. If you like to watch movies this is one of the best ones you can buy.

    A really nice head unit

Written By OGauge4Me, Bowie, MD on Thursday, October 13, 2011

This is an awesome head unit. It excelle's in every area that is critical to my needs. This is my first blue tooth radio and I was pleasantly surprised when my phone contacts were able to be used from the touch screen.

I like the USB in the front panel when I connect my iPod. Makes it real easy for me to use my older iPod Nano. The back up camera was a breeze to install as well. Since I already had an amp and speakers installed the wiring was very simple.

As others have said the Metra kit is a little cumbersome to install. Metra was the only kit in black which matched my dash surround plastics. I knew that the Metra kit would be a little difficult to work with so I was already ready for the fine tuning that needed to happen for a nice fit.

I purchased the Pioneer on sale at the end of August and have had it installed for a little over a month now. It continues to work flawlessly.

If you have any questions email me and I will answer them.

Solid receiver with good options at a great price. Particularly appealing is the ability to view the rear view camera with a touch of a button on e home screen. This unit is in our motorhome and being able to view the rear view is very helpful. The built- in Bluetooth functions well and I have no negative comments on that. The graphical user interface is very nice as well. The screens are easy to navigate with just the right amount of actual physical buttons vice virtualized buttons.

First I must say I have NEVER installed a stereo before. This was so easy and thanks to Alan (Technical Support) for assisting with my questions. I am ready to install another one. lol. I really like how this hd sounds with my stock speakers. People have asked if I also bought speakers due to the sound quality. The display is fairly easy to learn. There are a couple changes I wish had been made.1. Is a dimmer for night driving would be nice it's too bright. 2. The icons on the right ie. phone, setup, would be more accessible on the left, instead of having to reach farther. I am impressed with all the accessories which can be added, like rearview camera, steering wheel control (next on my list). I have recommended this hd to several people. Glad I bought it.

    Tons of Compliments!

I was hesitant to buy a touch screen unit because I was use to how intuitive an iPhone's touch settings are and how most other devices can't live up to it.. But I was so surprised! Touch screen on this unit works perfectly and doesn't get bogged down even while scrolling through my iPod's library of over 5000 songs. The Pandora radio responds quickly and smoothly, as well as all the controls and screen transitions. The unit is fast and powerful, and really brings out the best in your system. The visual equalizer makes getting the sound you want even easier. Also it looks fantastic installed and blends into my cab very well when it's off so I would imagine it'd be hard for possible theives to see it through my tinted windows.

Only complaint I have is that there isn't a USB port in the back so it kinda limits my wiring options as far as my iPod's hookup; I'd ideally want it ran through into my glovebox. But oh well! Since that's my only problem with it I'd say I highly recommend this unit! You will NOT be disappointed!! :D

    A Fantastic Upgrade

I replaced the stock Bose system in my '96 Corvette with this Pioneer unit. Fit was perfect in the stock double-DIN space, installation was straightforward, and it sounds Fantastic! The display is vivid, responds quickly to touch inputs, and is intuitive to use. The unit has sufficient power built-in to drive my Polk DB5251 front speakers and a pair of Kicker CompVT65 subs in back, without requiring a separate amp. This Pioneer unit offers a very good upgrade for reasonable cost.

    Excellent Factory HU Replacement

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this unit to replace the factory head unit in my Mazda CX-9. Overall, I was happy with the factory radio until I started using the aux jack more. There was a loud buzzing coming over the speakers from the engine. Now, it my just be me but, I personally believe that a factory stereo should not have ground loop interference. Also, my I phone couldn't integrate well with the factory radio. So, out it came and in went the Pioneer.

Let me say that this Pioneer made my speakers sing! The bass was much richer and the mids sound brighter now. The main thing that I like about the unit is that it integrates my iPhone into the system and allows me to control the phone through the Pioneer head unit. Now, my wife can change stations on Pandora without having to lean over to my side of the car to look at the phone. The built-in bluetooth works great and people tell me that it sounds much better than the factory unit as well.

Great options, but limited in areas

Pairing it with my BB was easy once I found the default pairing code on a forum. The quality is apparently superior to the CD-BTB200 that I have in another vehicle.

Installation was a breeze, Crutchfield always provide harnesses and guides for connectivity.

The one con that I have regarding this head unit is in how it displays folders. My DEH-P4100UB allows you to browse the folders on a USB drive, this unit just assigns a number to the folders so you really have no way to "browse" your music/audio books.

I gave it a good rating because of Crutchfields installations instructions and ease of use of the unit itself, but the browsing of folders on USB/SD really takes away from it's value to me.

This is well worth the money and the time to install. I Have a 350z convertible and was content wih the stock Bose system sound but it had no add'l features. The 3300bt comes packed with features and in a stylish package. I had to modify the stck brackets to get this to sit flush in the dash but, again, the effort was absolutely worth it.

The the support was also amazing. These folks know their stuff and they are patient. I got most of they through with their thorough master sheets but needed some help at a few sticking points. They got me through and were a pleasure to work with.

The radio instructions are a tad bit confusing since it is for two different head units and the references are in tiny print. Other than that, AWESOME RADIO. With only a skimming of the directions I was up and running, customizing the sound and look of the display. Touch sensitivity is perfect and the clarity of the display is excellent. The controls are back-lit perfectly and easy to use while driving. The amount of preamp outputs is perfect for any future upgrade I make. I would've preferred both the USB and SD were behind a cover, but that's a personal note.

Be careful though, I found out that the display is easily scratched. I still have no idea what could've caused it during the five times I have it in and out of the dash. With all the care in packaging, I'm surprised Pioneer didn't have a protective sheet over the display.

This is the first time buying Pioneer, and I am totally impressed. Great flexibility, great build quality, added HD radio tuner (must have accessory). iPod control works with my iPad too and is really slick. Screen is awesome. Also 5 stars to Crutchfiled for including the harness, install kit, etc. BTW the new GMOS-04 for my OnStar/Bose amp now includes the harness for the ASWC steering wheel controls, and was a plug and play installion. Now this head unit sounds so good that I ordered a Boston Acoustics 5 channel amp from Crutchfield to round out my system (already had Focal 165KP and 130KP in the doors) so it should be really nice now. My only complaint is the mic on the bluetooth is marginal at best, but having the bluetooth speakerphone option is awesome. Thanks Crutchfield!!

Great radio for the price. I wish it was android compadible but not a big deal. Apple ipod/iphone/ipad conectivity wont ever be used because I'm not an apple fan. Bluetooth works like a charm. Small issues with the mic but that is not a product issue. Close windows when using it so people can hear you. Sound quality is great. Radio reception is amazing. Still learning what all the fuctions does but will recomend to others. I always recomend this site.

I love this deck. I bought a 32GB sd card and keep all of my music and a dozen movies on the card in the machine at all times, no need to hook up an Ipod or change DVD's. I didn't buy it for the blue tooth feature but once I started using it I was amazed, I now have onscreen caller ID, all my contacts are there and the sound on a call is great, my caller's say it sounds as clear as if I am on the handset. (razr2) It was easy just pair the handset via BT and it does the rest, now I leave my phone in my pocket, as soon as I am in the car it works great for receiving calls and making calls. I actually used it hands free while calling the Axxess tech support when installing the steering wheel adapter. I bought the car adapter kit and had it pre-wired sitting at my kitchen table, the deck installed fast and easy using the factory wire plugs not cutting was needed. I did have to tap into the wires for the Axxess steering wheel controller but that is only 5 wires. The phone support They were able to tell me the exact wire colors in the car I needed to connect the Axxess wires to. I compared this with the Best Buy installed price and they wanted $160 to install the steering wheel controller. You can get a similar deck with a larger screen but I use my SUV for work and I know the often used buttons /controls get lot's of wear and I didn't want to wear out a spot on the screen, so I like having volume, fast forward, etc. actual buttons that can be cleaned.

Really Nice Unit, looks and sounds great.

Pros:Solid Unit looks very nice and sound quality is great, easy to navigate menu screen. I really like the colors changing on the display and buttons. DVD looks really nice too.

Con: My only Drawback is the lack of BlueTooth Streaming and the fact that you will have to use the Clunky Ipod cable in order to get the full use out of the ipod features.

Perfect unit except I missed 1 small detail... the blutooth does not stream audio. I read the manual vs reading crutchfields hands on info and misread the bluetooth section. It's the 4300 dvd with the bluetooth add on module that supports the audio streaming. I have exchanged this unit for the sony 62BT.

If you do not need the BT audio streaming this is an excellent unit.

Alpine used to be the only thing that did it for me, but I just didnt have the cash for it right now. Took a leap of faith on the Pioneer and I gotta say, this thing is awesome. I really don't any complaints, if you want to use this with your iPhone, go right ahead, they interact seamlessly. The install was a little challenging with my 05 GMC Sierra because I added the steering wheel control adapter and the door chimes module, but nothing the average do-it-yourselfer can't handle with crutchfield's customer service. I had to give 'em a call to make sure I wasn't cutting a wrong wire, and they even knew the color it should be. Thanks guys

This unit is amazing. The touchscreen user interface is the best. The sound quaility and clarity of the AVH-P3300BT is astounding. The built-in Bluetooth is great and no one knows the difference between when I'm talking on the phone or through the units mic via Bluetooth. It was important to me to be able to match the color of my dash ligths. This unit looks stock in my 2007 Nissan Frontier. I could go on and on but I'm not getting paid to sell the unit for Pioneer. Pioneer did an awesome job with this one!

    Pioneer AVH-P3300BT

Written By Larry, Joliet, iL on Saturday, July 09, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Pioneer AVH-P3300BT is a great sounding head unit that looks good and has many features that make it a really good choice. There was, however, some slight modification to the Scosche installation kit to make this radio fit.

I had tried another brand of double din size head unit (see JVC KW-HDR720 review) for my car and found it to be of okay sound quality when wired to my newly purchased Polk DB6501 speakers. But something was missing and for this and other reasons I decided to spend a little more money and try the Pioneer.

WOW! What a difference in sound quality even without an amp or sub! To be fair, I wanted to try the radio/CD on the same "playing field" as the other unit.

Since then I have upgraded using the Alpine MRX-V60 and the JL Audio CP108LG-W3v3 8" Single 4ohm Low-profile Sub Enclosure. I am really happy with the final result. The Crutchfield advisor recommended all of the wiring, hardware and instructions that I needed to be successful with the installation. The sub really plays low and accurate; what a great choice!

This complete system provides me with all of the sound quality and adjustment capability I wanted in a relatively simple package. Plenty loud for me, but I'm not looking to make my ears bleed, just great sound- clean and accurate!

    Great in dash unit

Written By AnthonyG, NJ on Saturday, July 09, 2011

This unit is great, has alot of opportunities for expansion of features and the install was very easy. Does have the option for navigation which I do plan to get in the future. Dvd feature looks and works awesomely, you do need to have parking brake engaged.

My biggest reason for getting this was the screen and the options it can have, do not really care if it had dvd. The multi band EQ is nice, the equalizer and other sound settings gives you the ability to fine tune the sound. I am still messing with it, but the equalizer and tuning abilities are better then most radios. Has the option for a backup camera as well but i do not have one nor do i need one.

All in all awesome unit, definately get it and crutchfields master sheets will help you install it although its really easy and the free connectors are nice as well though if you already have an aftermarket harness you may not need them though I usually always replace them anyway.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a nice unit that now lives in my 2002 Highlander, providing a very clean appearance in the console. The receiver has more power than I'll ever need, but some features, such as Bluetooth, made it very attractive.

The sound quality is great; much sharper than the old stock Toyota radio, and this brings alive the Toyota speakers which were hardly tapped with the original equipment. Display adjustability is a plus, and the cool factor is unbelievable.

The volume and song selection (when using your iPod) buttons are a little small for my liking but manageable. The software is fast to respond, and a little time through the various displays proves it is easy to navigate the various functions. I am a little annoyed, however, that phone dialing and manual connection to Bluetooth (when the auto connection fails) are inhibited while driving.

A word of note when installing: the interlock for DVD and inhibited functions looks for a switch between parking brake on/off/on, so connecting to a ground source will not work. You must connect to the parking brake wire - as difficult as it may be on some cars.

Overall, I'm very happy with the receiver. There's a lot of flexibility and expandability with this equipment.

    Missing some key features

Written By Steve, Midwest on Monday, July 04, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Player looks great and has tons of features. The ones that are missing are pretty important, IMHO.

Pros Ridiculously easy for this first time installer to put in. The instructions and included parts kit made this seem like child's play. Huge kudos go to Crutchfield on that! I'd recommend learning to solder just to keep the wiring cleaner, but using the squeeze caps wasn't bad, either.

DVD/Video Playback - Very nice feature. I'll be adding some rear displays as well as a rearview camera. Love the expandability.

Cons No A2DP Bluetooth Streaming - The lower model of players are able to use external BT devices as the audio source, but the BT chipset included with this model must have been chosen as a cheaper alternative to give hands-free calling.

No rear-facing USB - I knew this wasn't in place when I purchased, but I didn't think I would mind having the super thick usb/3.5 cable on the front. I appreciate having them there in case I'd want to use those inputs, but being able to just put an iPod in my glove box and have it out of the way is becoming more desireable the longer I have all the cables going all around my dash.

Great head unit, lots of functions, but some issues

Written By Icetoad, Orlando, FL on Saturday, June 25, 2011

Bought this radio a few weeks ago. The interface is pretty intuitive and quite responsive. Many many options to pick from.

Blutooth works great!, USB, CD, DVD and aux also work great. ( i dont have sat or nav hooked to it, so no comment there).

Issues i have found: Reception vs my factory radio, is just horrible. I tried with another antenna hooked to the unit and i still had crappy reception. I tried messing with the tuner lock in filtering technology and that produced some improvement, but its no where near factory reception. ( i did check the power antenna lead and that was on).

Second thing is small, but important to me given the reception issue. The SD card i put in is 32GB and i loaded it with my entire library. Well everytime i start/stop the car or change a function in the car, the radio just sits there saying its reading format. Sometimes its 20 seconds, sometimes its upwards of a 2 minutes. I am going to clear out some of the stuff i dont really listen to, but it would be great if they could do something to fix the slow read(maybe cache list until eject?).

Ok I'll admit I'm picky. Since January of this year I've been through 4 head units for my Tacoma, FOUR. This one is the keeper. I bought the Kenwood DDX418 just before this one, but sent it back because of the infamous bluetooth quality problems. Yes they are bad. But I was concerned about this unit only having 14 watts RMS (why I didn't buy in the first place). But it is NOT an issue. This unit sounds great and the bluetooth w iPhone 4 is great. User Interface takes a little getting used to but once there it's fine. Sound adjustment is great. Color matching of display and buttons is wonderful, I can get it exactly like weird tacoma orange or millions of other colors for contrast. Ipod interface is great. I also leave an SD card in there loaded with music, which by the way fouled up other HUs because of the length of the file name, but not this one. Great picture quality when watching movies. Would give 5 stars if streamed audio. Everything else is top notch.

The only thing that I haven't gotten to work is for it to play movies from my iPhone, but I only tried once and haven't troubleshooted at all yet.

Great Reciever and would definitely recommend it to anyone!!

    Get the optional CD-MC20 Microphone

Written By TraceyH, Boston on Thursday, June 16, 2011

I gave a review the other day on my AVH-P3300BT and at that time I was waiting delivery on the optional CD-MC20 Microphone.

I received the microphone today and followed the very easy instructions. It took about 6-minutes to calibrate.

Before I calibrated my system, I thought my customer EQ settings were pretty fine. Well, let me tell you, my system is "PHENOMINAL". The microphone not only made the system three times louder, but a day and night difference.

I can't stress enough to get the CD-MC20 microphone. YOU WON'T BE SORRY!

I feel as though I'm in a concert hall and the peformers are giving me a private concert.

    Awesome - Awesome - Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Outstanding Unit!

I purchased this unit in place of my Alpine CDA-117. The sound is incredible and I can turn the volume up to 40 (which is the max.) without any distortion. I like the different EQ features, but will be using the Auto-EQ as soon as the optional microphone that I ordered comes in. Display is fantastic and so easy to navigate. It literally took me 5 minutes to learn. I don't plan on watching DVD.

The Bluetooth works flawlessly. Both incoming and outgoing calls are crystal clear.

If you are contemplating whether or not to get this unit, I say yes... You won't be disappointed. It's worth every penny.

There are so many other options (too many to list) that also contribute to the five star rating I am giving.

Oh, one other comment, the double DIN looks fantastic in my 08' Taurus. Looks like it was factory installed.

I bought this unit to replace another new 1-din unit I tried to use with my iPhone. This unit works great with my iOS devices and the touchscreen controls are easy to learn. I don't get the purpose of a DVD player you can only use when the parking brake is on, though. I will probably never use the DVD player on this unit anyway. The touchscreen is the big feature on this unit. All functions are easy to navigate and the sound is excellent. I would highly recommend this item.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit is exactly what I was looking for. The sound quality is great, and the iPod control is great. When the iPod is plugged in, it is quickly recognized and starts playing where I last left off. So, I can go from headphones to the car and not miss a second. The multi-band EQ allows the sound to be fine tuned to my ears. I got this unit to replace a Jensen that did not perform well. In my opinion, this unit is the best for the money.

    What is this 2001?

OK I am not a compressed audio fan at all. I have all my music ripped to a few 128GB SSD's in full WAV format. I put my favorites onto a 32GB SD Card and this piece of junk doesnt play em. C'mon Pioneer its 2011. Lets get with the program and support true audiophiles. Now I have to carry all my CDs around with me again. My fault I guess never even thought to check supported formats since I had a pioneer receiver from early 2001 that supported the same thing they do now.

    Great Receiver

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Awesome receiver. I got the XM radio module with it, which integrated perfectly. This unit's touchscreen is extremely intuitive. It is very easy to browse playlists and music on my iPod. The AMFM radio works great, and the XM is nice too. The only issue I have come up with is when switching band to band (for instance, there are three bands available for XM, each with six or so preset stations), it automatically changes the station to the last station you had been listening toin that band. I would rather select and see the presets in each band and then select the preset that I want, if I want to choose one. Also, with XM having ten gazillion channels, only having 15 or twenty total preset memory locations is really not that many.

Awesome!!! Much better interface by far than all other similar units I tried out.

    AVH-P3300BT

Written By Jon, Chicago area on Tuesday, May 24, 2011

I recently purchased the AVH-P3300BT and it works well. The sounds quality is pretty good for someone who isn't an absolute audiophile. The EQ is a nice feature but I wish the highest frequency band was higher than 10kHz.. I mean come on Pioneer we aren't listening to cassettes anymore...although some low bit rate MP3's are probably not much better.

I also got the XM radio turner (GEX-P920XM) but the sound quality is horrible compared to terrestrial FM. This is not a problem with the Pioneer unit but the result of the huge compression XM radio uses on its stations. This may not be an issue if you are using stock speakers or aren't as picky about sound quality.

The unit has a ton of features for the price. One thing missing is the streaming music via bluetooth. There are so many other options for listening to music it doesn't really matter. Beside I can always use the AUX-in on the back to connect to my EVO 4G for listening to Pandora. There is also no security code or detachable face, though most DVD/GPS units don't have these features either. One nice thing is the screen is not affected by polarized sunglasses.

The bluetooth phone calls are nice and clear on my end. People sometimes complain about noise or an echo and may have more to do with a crappy signal or bad connection. A callback usually fixes it. Sometimes there is a delay in seeing my call lists on the Pioneer display. All in all, I am happy with the purchase and would buy it again, especially for the price.

    Not bad!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This reciever seems pretty decent. I'm a fan of clarion HU's typically and so this is my first pioneer. I installed this in a 2011 jeep wrangler without a master sheet because Crutchfield doesn't have one avail. yet. It was alot of work because I also needed to hook up a pac interface and another pac adapter for the steering wheel controls. Then a sirius tuner and the seperate adapter so the sirius tuner can intergrate with the head unit. The tricky part is tucking all that stuff in behind the dash! I miss the days of simple hook-ups! All and all it went smooth. The pioneer could have much better screen resolution. It also packs alot of features into it, so the controls are a bit complicated and not very intuitive. Sounds pretty good though. Lots of tweakability which is nice. I do already miss having a knob though. I guess I'll get used to it. The price to feature ratio is excellent which is why I bought this unit.

Great deck for the money. The Pandora is a great option, and cant beat all the
other bells and whistles. The only reason I rated the unit at a 4, is the remote. It
would be great to have more function using the remote and listening to
    Pandora, and IPod controls.

We were looking for a nice system that had a remote mic in for blue tooth
cellular phone, and that is why we chose this model. Conversations are crystal
clear with this unit. The Crutchfield sales team and the info sent along for install
was very organized and helpful. Very pleased!

Unit works great. I hooked this up my self, fairly cut and dry. If you add on the OnStar module, the wiring is a bit overwhelming, but the instructions provided get you through fairly easy. One of the reasons I bought this unit is for the Blue-tooth which works flawlessly. I did intend to buy the AVIC-U220 navigation add-on, but there is just not enough positive feedback out there, and it also costs a lot. I love the interface and the color customization of the unit. The only issue is that I have a Pontiac with all red interior lights. When you set the color of red in appearances, the Text all looks pink...no biggie, but it did bug me a bit. Overall I am very pleased and would purchase this unit again, the price of the add on navigation has to come down sometime..until then I will stick with my $139 Garmin...that works perfect.

Sound quality is great, Pandora interface is awesome, and the iPod control works perfectly. The auto dimmer works ok but you can not adjust the screen brightness. Five stars is a perfect score so I give it four due to some advanced display adjustments that are not available. I do highly recommend the unit.

    Great product. Recommended

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

    PROS:
Like many of the other reviews, this unit is great. Easy navigation, plenty of
input options, looks and sounds great, with proper eq. You get two custom EQ
settings you can adjust by frequency and a handful of presets. Touch screen
controls to rapidly jump to a specific location in a song or movie is a HUGE
difference from having to use the old method of holding down a 'fast forward or
rewind' button and waiting. Instant gratification! Of course the FF and REW
    buttons are there too.

In my 2005 Ford Freestyle, installation went without a hitch. Crutchfield
documentation was perfect for the car and supplied all items needed for an
easy install, this being my second. The unit fit perfectly.

I also got the optional steering wheel remote hookup and had no issues
installing and programming the unit. Everything works and looks like it came
from the factory and I am very happy with it.

    CONS:
I wish there was a button to dim the face rather than just turn it off for cars that
don't have an illumination wire hookup to the unit.
As another post states, Radio Station presets don't always show the selected
frequency in the list but sometimes other text. Sometimes it's the call letters or
    something else.

    Great Product, Bluetooth quality issue

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The product is excellent overall. Glad I spent extra and ordered from
Crutchfield. Their service is the best for sure! Overall quality is excellent.
It does sound so much better than original Stereo in my 05' Toyota Rav4. Now,
like another reviewer down below, I also experience some kind of background
noise everytime I start a phone call over bluetooth interface. I thought it was
because the way I routed my microphone wire, but I completely disconnected it and
the background noise is still there. I tried another cell phone and still the
same. Called Excellent Crutchfield service and now waiting for replacement unit
    - lets hope it is just something wrong with my current deck. Otherwise, this
    deck is very good.

    Pioneer AVH-P3300BT

Written By Josh, Des Moines, IA on Thursday, April 21, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

    Pros:

Large variety of inputs: Front Aux, USB, and SD. Rear video source input. Plus
all manner of DVD/CD of course.

Bluetooth integration: Hands-free with external mic (included). Can pull contact
info and call history over BT. Separately adjustable mic volume. Gracefully
pauses and resumes playback when calls come in. Can be set to answer incoming
    calls automatically.

I can't overstate how well the auto-EQ works. The difference after it is
calibrated is like the difference between factory speakers and aftermarket
units. It needs a microphone which plugs into front AUX, Crutchfield seems to be
sold out of them as of the time of this review but they are available lots of
places. I actually used one I got with a Pioneer home receiver - it's the same mic.

Cons: Not many, honestly. The one that really got me was that it doesn't sort
files (on USB/SD) alphanumerically - it sorts them in filesystem order, which
more or less means files appear in the order they were copied to the drive. But
if you simply Google "MP3 file order," you will find links to utilities which
can sort the files on a USB drive/SD to take care of this problem. I have used
one and can verify it does cause files to be sorted correctly on this headunit.

I bought this for my wifes 2011 Subaru Outback Primium, it has the best
features that i could find for a in-dash double din unit without navigation. The
bluetooth is great and the option menu to detail the colors and the themes are
great, looks like it came with the car. Great product for the money, having the
pandora option is pretty sweet also

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this unit and installed it myself. The instructions provided by
    Cruchfield were good.

I had 2 questions: 1)an extra wire connector that was in my vehicle, which
turned out not to be needed any more and 2)how to hook up the wire to the
parking brake for the video feature. I called the support line at Crutchfield and
they quickly cleared up my confusion. On a Saturday morning no less !!
    THANKS

I am very pleased with the radio and plan on purchasing other add-on items for
    it in the future.

I am very impressed with Crutchfiled and the Pioneer unit.

The bluetooth feature has a what sounds like an electical interference in the
background (that is what people that call me say). I have not looked into what
the issue is yet and hope its something simple like running the Mic wire
    differently.

Overall, I would definately recommend this unit.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this unit and installed it myself. The instructions provided by
Cruchfield were right on. My only question was how to hook up the wire to the
parking brake for the video feature, so I called the support line at Crutchfield and
they directed me right to the correct wire. I am very pleased with my new gear and
I plan on purchasing other add-on items for it in the future. I am very impressed
with Crutchfiled and the Pioneer unit. My only issue, which is minor is that I wish
the radio favorite buttons could be customized. What it does is it grabs the
information from the over the air text so you see artist information instead of radio
station information when you are going through your favorites. I wish i could force
them to just show the radio station information. It would make knowing what each
    favorite is set to easier.

The bluetooth feature works great, my iPod connected all my music with no issues
and i was able to connect to Pandora easily when I had my iPhone connected. It
did take a bit of reading to fully understand the buttons and what to do when. Also,
I finally ended up putting the EQ to flat. Flat was pretty much the only setting I
could get the sound to sound normal. This is probably just my lack of knowledge
on what EQ settings are ideal.

Overall, I would definately recommend this unit.
