Have an XM-compatible Pioneer in-dash stereo? Connect the GEX-P920XM radio to it, and enjoy the programming variety of XM Satellite Radio in your vehicle. With your Pioneer stereo, you can then surf XM's content by channel number or category, view artist and song titles on the stereo's display, and save up to 18 channels as presets.

The package includes the cable you'll need to connect the GEX-P920XM to your stereo, plus the XM antenna you'll need to mount on your vehicle's roof in order to receive the signal.

Note: A subscription to XM is also required — learn about XM's programming. Satellite radio service is available only within Canada and the lower 48 states — not available in Hawaii or U.S. territories. Portable reception may vary by location. Features

Overview: When used with a compatible Pioneer IP-Bus head unit, this tuner allows you to receive XM's programming in your vehicle. In addition to this tuner, you must have a Pioneer XM-ready receiver and a subscription to XM Radio to receive XM digital satellite radio signals.

Note: Satellite radio service is available only within the contiguous United States. Service is not available in Alaska and Hawaii.

Compatibility: Generally this XM tuner is compatible with any Pioneer receiver with all of the following: 1) the letter "P" in the model number; 2) a "Function" or "F" key; and 3) an 8-character display (minimum).

Note: The manual specifies that this XM tuner is not compatible with the AVH-P6400CD, AVH-P6400, DEH-P8500MP, DEH-P850MP, or KEH-P2030.

XM Satellite Radio: XM Satellite Radio programming features over 170 channels of digital-quality music, news, talk, sports, entertainment, and children's programming nationwide, including 69 commercial-free music channels.

16 Character XM Satellite Radio Information: This tuner will pass 16 characters of display data to Pioneer radios with XM Satellite Radio tuner controls (2002 and older models display 8 characters). Information available for display includes channel names, artist names/feature, song/program titles, channel numbers, and channel categories. Information longer than 16 characters (or 8 characters for 2002 and older models) will not be displayed.

Selecting Channels: The tuner allows you to select channels by number or category. Channels are organized into various program categories. You can search between the different categories and then search among the channels within each category.

Preset Memory: You can set a total of 18 XM channels in the receiver's preset memory.

Mostly Happy

Installation was simple! and placement (under the passenger seat) was easy, I just took out four bolts, unplugged the Airbag sensor and boom.

Pros:

I am in my car an hour and 20 minutes ONE WAY every day. It is nice to have solid clear radio the whole time. Many channels, and genres to choose from. Limited chatter by the djs.

Cons:

Sometimes I catch the voice and speaking to sound a little 'digitized'. Not the fault of the product I'm assuming but there it is. Also, more frustrating and if it keeps happening I will return it, but three times since installation a month ago it has just gone silent. I have had to call XM to get them to send a refresh signal. A real pain in the rump.

Finally! A solid way to access XM!

Does what it should! It doesn't feel like an add-on, it just "upgrades your head unit". Clean and clear sound, nothing like the FM modulation add-on units. If you like XM, get this. I installed 2 (one in my car, one in my wife's), and both antennas were installed INSIDE, near the bottom of the windshield (which works perfectly). And, as usual, Crutchfield's service was so good I actually laughed out loud a few times when I got a call or email before, during, and after the sale. They REALLY stick with you the whole way, it's uncanny.

Pros:

Ease of installation. Reliable. Comes with everything you need.

Cons:

The actual hardware box is BIG. Make sure to plan your install carefully, so you make room for it and plan your wiring (which Pioneer supplies in GREAT supply).

Pioneer GEX-P920XM

Over all this is a great product but be prepaired to come up with way to hide your antenna wire. Crutchfield will not send up an install guide for this product like they do for the speakers or Dash receiver. I just went to u-tube for ideals.

Pros:

Just plug & play, works great in my 2005 Ford F150 Crew Cab.

Cons:

The diagram just shows how to install it on a car, but I have a truck.

Matched with P2300-DVD

Excellent add on to Pioneer Head AVH-P2300-DVD. Very easy to install. Comes with plenty of cable and antenna wire for rear of roof mount on my Mustang. XM is a must have in North Carolina (unless you want to hear Elton John or Dream Weaver every 5 minutes. No Thanks!) I used to have a portable XM unit with the hanging input wires and antenna wires. This eliminates all that and the sound is so much better than thru an FM Modulator. Great job Pioneer. Buy now from Crutchfield! You get fast delivery, and tech support if needed.

It. Just. Works.

I got this unit after fighting with a JVC head unit and the Audiovox XM tuner for JVC radios. Two different Audiovox units and both worked *once* with the headunit. I returned the JVC radio (which admitedly was fairly nice) and the Audiovox for a Pioneer AVH-P2300DVD and the Pioneer XM tuner.

No fighting, just plugged it in and viola!, XM satradio. A bit large, but the ease of installation (no d/l'ing firmware, no separate adapter cable) and the solid design with the metal enclosure more than makes up for the size. And a bonus, it costs less than the miserable Audiovox!

Major kudos to Crutchfield and their tech support crew for making an unpleasant situation into a painless transaction and successful install.

Perfect operation

Connected to my 10 year old Pioneer stereo without a problem. Basically, plug and play. The supplied magnetic mount antenna is small and virtually unnoticeable. The unit has a very low profile and was easy to mount. I'm very impressed that Pioneer supports their equipment as they do.

Pioneer GEX-P920XM

This unit works great and was easy to install. I didn't use the supplied antenna but used one that I attached to the inside glass just in front of the rear view mirror. Surprisingly, it worked just as well as an external antenna I put the XM receiver under the passenger front seat and really the only dilemma I had was how to cleanly route all the cables. It does all that an XM radio needs to do for me . I'm very happy.

Pioneer XM Reciever

Easy to install. It took me a total of about two and a half hours until I was listening to Margaritaville. That included the time to remove the passenger and rear seats in my Mustang, fishing the cable under the carpet, mounting the unit, and putting everything back together. It also included half an hour on the phone to XM for a problem they couldn't solve. I called tech support at Crutchfield and Rudy immediately diagnosed the problem and I had it fixed in under five minutes. This kind of customer service will keep me coming back.
