The woofer will add depth and impact to your favorite tunes.

Get more out of your music

Are your car's factory speakers sounding less than fresh? Pioneer built their A-Series speakers to be high-performance replacements for your old speakers, designed from the ground up to bring back the life that your music's been missing. You'll be able to enjoy the clear vocals, chunky guitar riffs, powerful drums, and distinct bass lines that have always been a part of your favorite tunes, but have remained hidden behind sub-par speakers.

Built to make your music rock

Pioneer equipped the TS-A1305C component speaker system with 5-1/4" multilayer mica-matrix woofers that stay rigid when the volume's turned up, keeping distortion to a minimum so your bass sounds clean. Install the separate 3/4" tweeters in a good spot up high in your vehicle for better stereo imaging. The system also includes 2-way outboard crossovers, a step up from the inline tweeter high-pass filters usually found in systems in this price range.

These speakers will sound great running off your factory radio, but they'll really shine when driven by an aftermarket receiver or an external amp. Don't drive another day listening to tired-sounding tunes, when you can enjoy Pioneer sound quality with these speakers in your vehicle.

Installation note: You'll need a pair of our universal backstraps to install the tweeters in the factory locations.

Product Highlights:

  • component speaker system includes component speaker system includes 2 woofers, 2 tweeters, and 2 crossovers
  • 5-1/4" multilayer mica-matrix woofer cone with elastic polymer surround
  • 3/4" polyester fiber soft-dome tweeter
  • power range: 5-50 watts RMS (300 watts peak power)
  • frequency response: 48-32,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 89 dB
  • woofer top-mount depth: 2-1/8"
  • woofer grilles included
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Why install component speakers?

A component speaker system gives you the best possible performance from your car audio system. A system consists of separate woofers, tweeters, and crossovers, each designed to cover one specific range of frequencies. As separate components, the woofer can move freely to deliver more powerful performance, while the tweeter can be custom-mounted in a better spot up closer to your ears, revealing a whole new world of detail. Separate crossovers are far superior to the simple filters wired into full-range speakers, so the components work together for smoother, more focused sound.

The speakers are designed to be used with an amp.

Written by: Shan from knightdale, NC on January 27, 2016

I installed these speakers in a 2006 Toyota Tacoma. My plan was to install these Pioneer components and one 10" sub, all powered by one amp. Initially, I only installed the driver side in order to compare with the factory speakers. I was really disappointed. The factory speakers sounded richer and full. The Pioneer speakers sounded tinny and metallic and quieter. I contacted Crutchfield in order to return the speakers, and the consultant informed me that the speakers would benefit greatly with amplification. They are 50 watt RMS and my factory head unit put out around 10 watts, I'm assuming. So I went ahead and installed a new JVC head unit that puts out 22 watts. There was a dramatic improvement in sound with the Pioneer speakers although the factory speakers sounded just as good. I installed a Kicker 40 watt x 4 amp to power the components and bridged the remaining channels to power one 10" subwoofer. Just comparing the factory component system with the Pioneer component speakers with the amp installed, the Pioneers really shined. They were louder, crisp and clear. The factory speakers sounded dull and muddy, yet a bit more bass than the Pioneer speakers. All in all, I really like these speakers with the amp. Adding a 10" subwoofer creates a really great sounding system. I love it.

Pros: Crisp, bright and clear. Relatively inexpensive compared to other brands.

Cons: Absolutely, without a doubt, requires an amp to power the speakers, in my opinion. The difference is night and day.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these speakers in my dad's fiesta, since he is particular about his music sounding good. The install was quick and easy and when I tested the speakers they blew me away. They have plenty of low end kick for a 5 1/4 inch speaker, and the range and response from a stock head unit was impressive. They are higher sensitivity speakers and responded as such. My dad and I are both very pleased.

Pros: Great sound, great tweeter response.

Cons: None.

Pioneer TS-A1305C Installed in T-100

1997 Toyota T100
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed the Pioneer TS-A1305C component speakers in my Toyota T-100 doors several weeks ago. The componenets fit well and the install was easy. Thank You Crutchfield. These speakers have very good clarity and a good upper range. As others have written, the wire connectors for the speakers fit loosley. This is a minor issue and was easy to fix with a pair of long nose pliers. In my truck, the lower mid-range and bass were missing with these speakers. I have attempted to compensate with adjusting equilizer settings on the head unit, but after two weeks I have decided that these speakers are a step down from the Pioneer TS-A1365 speakers I removed. The Pioneer TS-A1365 speakers have been very good sounding speakers in this truck for many years, but that model for replacement is no longer available. I am going to remove the Pioneer TS-A1305C speakers. The level of clarity is very nice, but overall I was disappointed with the lack of mid-range and bass.

Pros: Good clarity and upper range.

Cons: Missing Mide Range and Bass.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The pioneer speakers I bought from crutchfield are amazing. The sound quality tripled from the OEM 1992 speakers. I am extremely happy with the sound quality and figment was perfect. They fit directly in the OEM speaker holders.

Pros: Amazing sound, more than enough wire, full instructions, excellent customer service from crutchfield.

Cons: The ONLY con I can see with the speakers is the connectors to the speakers are a little loose. But crimping them down just a bit works like a charm. So other than that No Cons!

Great performance for the price!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These replaced factory speakers that had separate tweeters and others told me I wouldn't see any improvement without changing the head unit. I was putting sound deadening in the doors and while they were apart changing the speakers seemed worth a try. Crutchfield suggested these would make a significant difference and had a mounting kit that made it a snap. They were right; the clarity of the sound is much better as it the performance of the tweeter. These were a great buy at the price!

Pros: easy install, good price, big improvement over factory "premium" speakers

Cons: None

My son's 2002 Subaru has very shallow mounting area's for the door speakers and these fit perfectly in the front with the Crutchfield supplied mounting bracket. These speakers are well worth the money, and sound clarity is amazing!

Pros: Fit Shallow mount doors! Amazingly clear!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These replaced the stock component setup in my 2011 Fiesta. Clarity is excellent, Volume is more than adequate, however if your music is Bass-heavy you may look into options with larger woofers and lower frequency response than these can offer. Installation was very easy given the pre-terminated connections to woofer and tweeter; only connection to crimp/solder is to the amplifier/head unit. Solid construction, Made In Vietnam, Not China.

Pros: Clarity at volume, Cost, Country of Manufacture

Cons: Inadequate Bass response for most music unless accompanied by a larger subwoofer.

These speakers sound very good for the price, with unfortunately a huge sacrifice to bass. The connectors fit loosely, which is not good. Other than that, I'm still satisfied with them. Crutchfield made it easy with free adapters :) I wonder what they would sound like on an amp...

Pros: Good sound at higher volume levels, easy on the wallet.

Cons: I need a subwoofer now : ' (

Nice quality speaker, almost as good as the Blaupunkt c-170. Easy install with just the right amount of clearance. Solid bass and the tweeter has multiple mounting brackets so if you want if flush or surface mount. would recommend

Pros: Great sound easy install

Cons: I would have liked a different face plate not exposing so much of the speaker. I have it mounted on my dash and if something were to fall on them it might damage the speaker material

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have not yet installed this new set in my Mustang, My concern is that Ford did not have a better idea for car stereos back in 1I am relying on my past experience with Pioneer and, that the Mach 460 sound system had some plan for replacement speakers and the middle range tones through and out of it, that I don't end up re-engineering the car for decent sound.

Pros: Bass responds better on round speakers that ovals

Cons: I'll let you know if I can't hear the mellow vocals

I installed these in a 2004 Subaru WRX wagon that had the original speakers in it with a Pioneer receiver. They obviously were an improvement and after listening to them daily for a few weeks now I am very happy with them. The bass is good for a 5-1/4" and the tweeters are impressive, I can't imagine being disappointed with these for the price.

Pros: sound great, crutchfield installation instructions and help line.

Cons: none for the price

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replaced the separates in the front doors of my 2004 WRX wagon. PO had installed 6-1/2" 2-way Kickers in the front doors and kept the stock tweeters. Bass dropped significantly after the swap, but sound is much clearer now with the Pioneers. Will need an amp and small sub to get the sound where I really want it. Provided tweeter mounts were useless in my case. Used the factory tweeter mount to mount the new tweeter. Everything fit like a glove with the provided speaker mounting rings (thanks Crutchfield!).

Pros: Quality speakers, crisp sound, better range compared to the factory set up.

Cons: No bass! Really need an amp to give these speakers more juice, and a sub to get the lows.

Just make sure to study the wiring and mounting carefully on one door, and the second door should be cake.

Pros: It has a very crisp sound, lots of high frequency from these if run by themselves. Installation was fairly easy with the included hardware, just plan and study your wiring carefully and you should do just fine. Price was also quite attractive at the time of purchase.

Cons: These are definitely not designed to be run by themselves. They need a pair of 6" x 9" speakers to make up for low and mid-low frequencies.

The speakers are a good value for the money. They sound good for a 5 1/4 speaker. I wasn't impressed with the supplied wiring and cross over mounting.

Pros: Good mid and high range sound.

Cons: supplied speaker wire crimp connectors were very loose fittingfitting to the speakers. I had to install new ones. The cross over have no mounting holes. I had to wire tie them to other cables in the door and use duct seal to hold them in place. They came with Velcro but my experience is that tape on Velcro doesn't last.

Not compatible with monsoon

Written by: Anonymous from Oxford, MI on November 15, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm sure these speakers can be good in the right system but they were not in mine. I was replacing a factory monsoon speakers in a Pontiac g6 as a direct swap (olds ones were bad). I had no intention to bypass/replace the monsoon amp and it was not happy with range of these speakers.

Aside from that I feel that the range of these speakers are a limiting factor. The woofers and tweeters have a high low limit

After I tweaked the crossover limits in a new head unit the speakers were decent but I still replaced them.

Cons: Range

I purchased these to replace my front factory speakers and also hooked them up to a amplifier and a Pioneer receiver. The tweeters sound great and the speakers really bring out the mid and hi ranges but they lack on bass but a decent subwoofer fixes that.

Pros: Sounds much better than stock speakers, tweeters look really cool.

Cons: No bass but that's what a subwoofer is for and you may need to glue the tweeter to where it mounts if it falls off.

So far they sound way better than stock. Lacking in the mid-range sound, but I think that is more the stock head units fault.

2010 Toyota Tacoma
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My daily driver is a 2010 Toyota Tacoma regular cab pickup, and I love my truck! However, to say the stock speakers were pure junk is an understatement. I knew I wanted an all-Pioneer system (head unit and speakers) for my truck, and based on research, I knew Crutchfield was the way to go. This was the only Pioneer component system Crutchfield had at the time that would fit my truck, so I bought it and I could not be happier with my purchase!

With the factory speakers, I often had to turn the volume all the way up for certain songs (especially older songs that were recorded in Mono) or when the windows were down. These Pioneer speakers are truly ground-pounding, and quite literally door panel-vibrating, technological marvels.

I would not hesitate to recommend this component to any of my family and friends.

They are also perfect for the audiophile on a budget, no matter what kind of vehicle they are driving.

Pros: Everything, especially the price and the overall quality you get for the price.

Decent Setup

Written by: Jonathan from Baltimore, MD on March 22, 2013

My factory setup ('03 WRX) was a component system in the front doors, so it was a no brainer to replace those 10 year old speakers with another component system to utilize the factory grills. Installation was a breeze with the help of the Crutchfield installation kit.

Overall, paired with a Kenwood deck that allowed me to fine tune this component set, they sound pretty good for the money.

Pros: Decent sound for the price!

I realized when having these installed that I was not going to be powering them with a separate amp, and as such, would not be getting the full experience that they are capable of. That being said, I've been super impressed with the overall quality and performance.

Pros: Wonderful price for high quality components

Cons: I've noticed a slight scratch in the sound of one of the speakers. Not sure if that is from the install job or the speaker itself, but it takes away from a perfect experience.

After looking at all speakers for my car a 2002 Honda civic ex and being on a budget decided on these speakers. Crutchfield provided all the parts to put these in the doors and in the rear deck. Your not going to get a whole lot of bass from these speakers, that's not what they are for. However for mids and highs they're great. Mount for the tweeters works really well.

Pros: Ease of installation!

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Install was fairly straight forward. The two different mounting pods that came with the speakers will come in handy for different mounting options. These definitely aren't the best speakers in the world. The tweeters sound a little harsh compared to the woofer and you definitely need a sub to make this system sound really good. That being said, for the price they aren't a bad deal and are an excellent replacement for factory speakers if you are looking to step up to a component system.

Pros: bang for buck

Cons: harsh tweeters

Hi Jason, That is a good question. In my application (2002 Chevy Tahoe), I had separate feeds (wires) going to the the factory woofer and factory tweeter. These feeds came from the factory amplifier, and as such the hi and low signals were already split out. I did not use the Pioneer cross-over, as the source cabling (wires) would only supply either the hi-freq or low-freq signals (depending on which speaker feed was being connected to. If the source cable is full spectrum, like a direct connection to the head-end, then the cross-over will be utilized fully and split the signal to the new woofer and tweeter. So to simplify, if you are using factory speaker wires, and there is separate signal feed to the woofers and tweeters, you probably do not need to connect the cross-over, as the factory wiring usually has an on-board amp which splits the signals. If you know that the cabling goes directly to the head-end and/or after-market amp, then utilize that single signal feed to the cross-over. I hope that answers your question and was not too confusing. As far as stripping wires, the new had polarized bullet connectors between the cross-over and speakers; you can get a matching factory connector or solder or crimp old wiring to new. [ WILMAR I  May 22, 2015 ]
