Pair these puppies with a new car stereo for a refreshing sonic upgrade, or go all the way and power them with an outboard amp. Either way, these Pioneers will handle up to 60 watts RMS, so you'll have a high ceiling for cranking your jams.

Listen with authority

These speakers deliver a satisfying punch, thanks to a woofer cone made of reinforced mica for rigidity and responsiveness. Pioneer adds an extra midrange driver so you get the most out of chunky guitar riffs, powerful drums, and distinct bass lines that otherwise would remain hidden when listening on sub-par speakers. Two dome tweeters add in all the high-frequency details that make music exciting.

Grilles are not included; the factory grilles should be suitable for most applications.

The bigger one is the positive. I'm surprised that Crutchfield did not answer this question.

Q
What is a good amp to push 4 of these speakers?
mitchel  Apr 03, 2017

A
Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.

Q
Do you need an amp to use 2 pairs of them?
babaganoosh  Dec 26, 2016
1 answer
A
If all you want to do is power them with a standard head unit, then no, an amp is not required. Although, if you want to use an amp, just be sure it isn't more powerful than what these speakers can handle in terms of output power. Make sure head unit or amp is rated for the same output in Ohm's as well for best results (8 or 4 ohms)

Q
How well will these fit (depth wise) in the front doors of a 2007 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer? I tried a set of Kenwood 5-way speakers, but it was too deep and hit the window track.

I have a 2005 Ford Ranger and they fit perfectly and sound great. Simple to install with supplied connections.
donnie  Jun 20, 2016
A
You should not a problem installing them on into your explorer; I had enough room after installing them into my escape which is a smaller truck.

Q
I am a pioneer junky..still have my SX780 receiver from '78...My question is...Can You get grills with these speakers add added cost (if not included) from the pioneer company?
arthur  Jun 10, 2016
1 answer
A
The Pioneer 6x8" speakers do not come packaged with grills and we do not offer any separately for them. 6x8" are commonly used in a factory speaker location and covered by the original factory grills that came in the vehicle. As a result, many 6x8" speaker models (like these Pioneers) do not come with grills. I hope that helps. My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=5

Thanks for your question. No, there are no grilles included. You'll find this information on the product page details tab under "What's in the box" or "Features". Hope that helps.

Q
How well do these handle bass?
wesley  Apr 06, 2016

A
Have 2 pairs of these in my truck. Using a JVC receiver rates at 22 watts RMS per channel. They perform incredibly well for me. Crystal clear at high volume. Bass is a little punchy but it really depends on what you like. As with most full range speakers like these, a subwoofer would really round out the bass nicely. Even just a small powered sub, combined with these would be great. If your not looking to rattle the windows in your neighbors house you could get a small powered sub for a low price. Overall I absolutely love these speakers. If you look at the reviews of them, almost everybody feels the same way. If somebody is having problem with them breaking up at high volume, I suspect they're either using a factory radio, or just need to adjust their equalizer. These are a premier speaker and worth every penny. Just what you expect from Pioneer.

I bought these speakers back in September for my truck,2004 Explorer Sport trac. Needless to say I am very unimpressed with them. I bought them because they were a new product from pioneer and always backed pioneer. However, if you are listening to rock, the mids definitely are not there, they break up at high volume. I think they lack a good tweeter. Save your money and go for a better speaker. This would be a good stock replacement but not a good upgrade.
justin  Apr 07, 2016
A
I don't have them hooked up to a subwoofer, but they sound good to me.

Q
Will my pioneer 720bt head unit be enough to push these speakers so they sound good?
greg  Dec 23, 2015

A
These speakers are very efficient. Just about any aftermarket unit would sound very good with these speakers. Obviously they would sound even better with a small amp but it's not necessary unless you have a $thousand dollar subwoofer set-up. Then you might want a small amp to power these.
jon  Apr 30, 2016
A
My Pioneer 720bt seems to power the TS-A6886Rs very good decent full spectrum of frequencies at various volume levels, but for people who are used to power amp + a receiver in their car they would want an amp I suspect.
jefferson  Dec 25, 2015
Q
Are they 350w per speaker or combined?
eddie  Dec 09, 2015
3 answers
A
350 is the peak power per speaker. Not combined. However the RMS power is only 60 watts per speaker. I wouldn't send much more than 60 watts to them if you don't want them to blow.
jon  Apr 30, 2016
A
That's more than enough power for these speakers if u put any more power to them they will plow up that is a max rating that the point where they will start smoking
james  Dec 10, 2015
A
This is max power to each speaker
