Side-view of Pioneer TS-A6965R 6"x9" speaker

The multi-driver array on this speaker brings out all the midrange and high-frequency details.

Get more out of your music

Are your car's factory speakers sounding less than fresh? Pioneer built their A-Series speakers to be high-performance replacements for your old speakers, designed from the ground up to bring back the life that your music's been missing. You'll be able to enjoy the clear vocals, chunky guitar riffs, powerful drums, and distinct bass lines that have always been a part of your favorite tunes, but have remained hidden behind sub-par speakers.

Built to make your music rock

Pioneer equipped the TS-A6965R 6"x9" speakers with multilayer mica-matrix woofers that stay rigid when the volume's turned up, keeping distortion to a minimum so your bass sounds clean. Each woofer gets paired up with a midrange speaker and tweeter to add warmth and clarity to your driving soundtrack. These speakers will sound great running off your factory stereo, but they'll really shine when driven by an aftermarket receiver or an external amp. Don't drive another day listening to tired-sounding tunes, when you can enjoy Pioneer sound quality with these speakers in your vehicle.

Product Highlights:

  • 6"x9" 3-way car speakers (pair)
  • multilayer mica-matrix woofer with rubber-coated cloth surround
  • 3/8" PET dome tweeter
  • 2-1/4" cone midrange
  • power range: 5-60 watts RMS (400 watts peak power)
  • frequency response: 35-37,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 91 dB
  • top-mount depth: 2-7/8"
  • grilles included
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Why replace your car's original speakers?

The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

Excellent sounding spearks. Provided instructions made job pretty easy. Because a kit was not available, I had to drill new holes. Not that factory speakers for 2006 Camry are 6x9

Pros: Great sounding speakers for money and factory OEM replacement. Wiring harness adapter and instructions were spot on.

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these in my 2006 Camry and they sound awesome. I replaced the original equipment speakers which were paper and they were destroyed by the plastic grills disintegration. (Apparently Toyota had a problem with the grills because there are several YouTube videos about replacing the crumbling grills.) Even with the standard Toyota head unit the sound is great. It makes driving fun.

Pros: Price, sound quality

Cons: none

For a very low priced speaker the sound quality is very good. I do not have an amp and only powered by a JVC head unit but the sound is very good. I would buy them again anytime.

Pros: Low cost very good sound.

Cons: Nothing to complain about!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

When I got these speakers for a cheap price, my expectations weren't outrageously high. My old 6x9s blew, and I needed a cheap replacement. As soon as I stuck these in, however, I was absolutely blown away. These speakers deliver a full and thick bass sound, while still creating crisp and clear mids and highs.

Pros: Cheap Aesthetically pleasing Sound fantastic

Cons: None. Buy these speakers.

1988 Toyota MR2
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought these with Sound Ordnance boxes to put rear speakers in my 88 MR2. The two little 4" I bought just weren't cutting it. Bought these and they definitely add the depth I was looking for.

You WILL NOT get subwoofer quality bass, but that's not what you buy these for. They add mids and good lows to a system that had none.

Will be buying a powered sub for under my seat to complete the system, but for the price, these exceed my expectations.

Pros: Price, Crutchfield Delivery, Good Sound.

Cons: None

The speakers fit perfect in my 1999 Saab 9-3 rear strut tower area. I still have the stock radio so that's probably the limiting factor of sound quality now (not a lot of base and stock radio is lacking power). I'd buy again.

Good speakers for the price. Clean, crisp sound when powered from my Pioneer 4100NEX. The high and mids and great. The bass is not too bad either but you really need to pair a sub with these. I also have Pioneer 5.25" components in the front of my car. These speakers definitely get louder than the components.

Pros: Crisp, clean sound

I'm a regular guy who's always improving my truck's sound system. The bass in these speakers isn't going to rattle your doors; however the clarity is pretty good for the price. Already having a subwoofer installed I do not need the bass rather than a ton of clarity. To anyone who wants to make the jump from stock to aftermarket speakers this is the best set on the market to begin with.

These do,fit a 2004 sebring convertible, i was trusting Crutchfield's site but when i got the front door speaker cover off it was a 6x9 and this speaker fit perfectly. Actuallt 2 sets will do ya good just connected to aftermarket head unit. Not trying to entertain the neighborhood just mt passengers. Crutchfield is normally spot on so ill just chalk this up to everyone makes mistakes

Pros: All goood

Cons: A lil misinformation

I ordered these through Crutchfield for $50 when the rear speakers in my 99 Camry quit working as a cheap replacement. I talked to Abe about them and he was very helpful. The included information and wiring harness work as advertised. These speakers continue to sound better hour after hour of use. It definitely added more low end and cleared up the highs, although the original HU constricts these speakers true quality of reproduction. They make me want some for the front doors! For the price and added goodies from Crutchfield they deserve 5 stars in my opinion so far!

1993 Dodge D Series
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replaced the door speakers in my 93 Dodge D350 and these sound magnificent! Outstanding quality for the price! I've used Polk and Pioneer for ages and these 6"x9" made my sound system enjoyable! I also replaced the rear cab speakers with matching 4"x10" and this thing gets LOUD and has respectable bass in the doors and all without an amplifier other than the 50wx4 my vintage SuperTuner IIID produced with the built in amplifier. Now I need a four channel amplifier to push the speakers and this thing will be an awesome basic set-up!

Pros: Price, Quality, very good sound! Wouldn't think twice before buying another set!

Cons: Speakers didn't match the mounting location inside the doors, but my automotive experience helped to open up the speaker locations. Worth every bit of my effort!

Very nice speakers. When I first heard them I wasn't impressed. I installed a new pioneer deck and these speakers at the same time. I just wanted a lil sound in my 77 Regal. I was like they ok until I started fine tuning the deck and WOW what a surprise. The bass is awesome and the treble blends right in.

Pros: Hold bass really well. Price was right down my alley. $49 but they sound like they cost $100+.

Cons: As of right now there are no cons. I love these speakers

They sound very nice. I don't actually need a sub woofer with these in my car. Application results may vary.

Pros: It compliments my front speakers very well, and makes up for the lack of low and mid low end frequencies missing.

Cons: I own a 2000 Camry, and these won't fit the rear deck without adapters. At the time of this review, Crutchfield did not offer adapters for mounting. I'm sure you could fabricate MDF or plastic frames yourself if you had the tools, but keep in mind that you might need adapters. This is definitely something to look into Crutchfield.

You get what you pay for

Written by: j2cat from Sharon, Pa. on February 3, 2014

I installed these speakers along with a RF PBR300X4 amplifier in a Dodge Caliber. Installation was easy enough and the speakers fit with no problem. Sound quality through the factory head unit was fair at best with mid-range being the most acceptable. Once the power was put to these speakers the upper end of the music spectrum came alive with brilliant highs and very clear mid-range. The bass however, pretty much disappeared and what was left turned pretty muddy. Gains through the amp were backed off to prevent distortion which showed up early. Perhaps with a lower powered amp things would sound better but I wouldn't really count on it. These speakers may sound good in a 1976 Duster but I wouldn't recommend using them in much else. Spend the extra money and look for something else, I'm going to.

Pros: Very easy installation, nice looking grilles. Good highs and mid-range.

Cons: Forget the bass, you'll need a sub if you install these speakers.

Upgrade from stock

Written by: CoSchu from North Dakota on September 2, 2013

Nice upgrade from stock speakers, highs sound good, however at high volumes you will get bass distortion if unamplified, I have bass blockers installed because I have 2 12" woofers in the trunk. If you aren't running woofers and want bass these will def. need to be amplified, other than that good overall speaker

Pros: Good overall sound

Cons: Evident bass distortion when not amplified

2006 Dodge Ram 2500
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speakers sound much better than the stock speakers.

Pros: The composite construction isn't as prone to bending when clamping down the speaker.

Cons: The diameter of the basket is bigger than the opening in the door so that when tightening down the speaker it doesn't seat on the outer edge of the basket. While this isn't ideal, there's enough clearance so the speaker doesn't interfere with replacing the door trim and the sound isn't negatively affected. The Crutchfield supplied mounting adapters are totally useless and I'm not sure why they were included.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After reading a few reviews on this product, all stating the same thing; cheap overall speakers. This however is not the case. They may be cheap, but the sound quality is crisp, and can give a good kick. They do have their max out but i barely ever hit those points being that it it gets too loud. Like Super Loud without clipping. I would recommend these to anyone on a budget for great speakers.

Pros: Great sound quality for the price

Cons: Not a great BASS Driver, but does give a good kick.

I don't have that deck but I do like the speakers. I installed the Pioneer DEH-X6600BT. For the price they have pretty good sound. Only issue I had was a piece of the cone came loose and made a rattle noise for a bit. I just removed it when it came loose. No big deal [ BROOKS  Dec 10, 2015 ]
Yes be careful when mounting speaker though the window will possibly hit it and it will break the mechanism device [ JEREMY M  Feb 19, 2015 ]
First, you need to find out the size of the OEM speaker of your car that you are replacing. If I'm not mistaken, this pioneer speaker size is 6"x9" and it is a 3 way. And if you are using just the head unit only, it will not have enough power (rms watts) to drive it. You will need another amplifier to drive this set of speaker. Even though it says 5-60 watts rms, I will recommend at least 40 watts rms minimum and maximum of 75 watts rms per channel amplifier to drive per speaker. [ ALDEN P  Feb 18, 2015 ]
